My wife and I ate here after dropping off our daughter at preschool. It was about the only option in the area for breakfast at 8 a.m. Most of the items served here are sandwiches, and breakfast items were limited to just croissant sandwiches at the time of our visit. We ordered the Scrambled Egg & Cheese and Feta Cheese & Spinach croissants. The croissants were warm and fluffy with decent ingredients but just weren't all that interesting. I mean it's typical breakfast ingredients, nothing unusual. I think that's the whole problem, nothing on the menu sounded exceptional or different. Everything looked very standard. I agree with some of the other reviews here..why pay for something you can make at home? Well....because I'm awful at planning lunch dammit!!! Lovebirds was a little detour of mine. Originally after a week of Jack In The Box, Pizza, and 7-11 (hey I work shift work; this stuff happens) I wanted something healthy. At first I though salad, but then after looking at Lovebirds menu I decided on the turkey sandwich with apple, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and mustard. Super delicious, especially with the sweetness of the apples! After reading reviews I knew I had to try the strawberry lemonade too; it was a perfect mixture of tangy and sweet. Service was friendly, the dessets looked yummy (but I knew I should not), and although Lovebirds has the "inconvenience" of being placed on a one way street there is a free parking structure maybe 30 feet down. read more

PARKING: It's located in downtown Alhambra so if you park at the parking structure near Gen on 1st street, you'll be right next to it. I believe it's 4 hours free parking and there are usually plenty of spaces. ATMOSPHERE: It's kind of hard to find but it's located on the street in a green/blue-ish building and it says Lovebirds Cafe on the front. The inside is actually bigger than I was expecting because it has an upstairs too. There are typical cafe type wooden tables and chairs and you order at the front and take a number and they bring you your food. FOOD: I actually made my own sandwich (turkey, cheddar cheese, sprouts, add avocado on seven grain). They actually don't list the sprouts on the menu but when I asked she said they had them, so ask if you want more toppings. You pay extra for cheese and avocado so the base price won't be what you actually pay. They have a lot of sandwiches, specials and make your own. I'm pretty sure everyone will find something they like here. My sandwich was really good. They pack in the ingredients and the bread is fresh and soft so I had no trouble eating the entire thing. Opened in 1984, this is the original Lovebirds Cafe location and one of the four Lovebirds (the other three are all in Pasadena) in the San Gabriel Valley. I've been happily eating at the Lovebirds in Pasadena for over 10 years. While serving on jury duty at the Alhambra court I decided to have lunch here. I had never been to their Alhambra cafe before. Opening the door and walking in I was greeted to the wonderful aroma of fresh baked bread and other goodies. Today I ordered a regular Chicken Caesar salad sandwich on a baguette with pepper jack cheese. I also ordered a small chicken vegetable noodle soup (One of Tuesday's soup of the day) and a ice tea. My order was brought over to me in about 5 minutes by the friendly employe that took my order. Their regular sized sandwich will satisfy the average person. They also have a large and a half sandwich order. The baguette was warm and crunchy and the chicken caesar salad was just what the doctor ordered. My soup was hot and delicious. The noodles were cooked to perfection and the broth of the soup was perfect not salty like some chicken soups but very flavorful. My favorite sandwich that I like to order, in the Pasadena cafe, is their Thanksgiving Turkey. This bad boy has hot turkey, mayo, lettuce, tomato, stuffing and cranberry sauce. I can't complement Lovebird's enough about how great this place truly is. Been here a long time ago and wasn't impressed, forgot what I ordered but gave them a second chance and really enjoyed it! Husband and I ordered breakfast croissants and they were delicious! Flaky croissant, crispy bacon, gooey melted cheese, and ham, so good! The coffee and teas were good too! We sat at the small table outside on the sidewalk, it was a nice day in the shade. There's a parking structure behind it or a parking lot across the street. Both are free parking and parking usually gets ugly during the night time due to Gen. Since we wanted salad, we both ordered the Chinese chicken salad. The bowl was pretty big and had a bunch of stuff inside. There were a couple things I didn't like such as radishes, and purple cabbage, but other than that It was not that bad. They use can tangerines so it does not taste as great as organic tangerines. They do offer complimentary water with cups on the side. The interior was bigger than I thought and they also have an upstairs with more seats. They have cute little banners and pictures around the store. The workers are very friendly and everyone seemed to be happy doing their jobs. Overall, a good first experience.
