I recently went with four friends to have a nice dinner. It was a Friday night so it was pretty busy, however we did not anticipate to be met with an arrogant server. It took quite sometime for the food to come out and when it did, it came out sporadically. Two of us ordered the same item, one came, the other took so long I requested to cancel the order. There was also hair in one of the dishes. To our surprise, the server handled the whole situation very inappropriately and argumentative. Given her arrogance we spoke to a manager who handled the matter professionally. He offered to make things right and issued a refund. Thank you to him. Such a perfect setting for a group night and the servers were ON IT. Attentive without hovering, super friendly, and totally locked in all night. Drinks refilled, food checked. Love to see it. Great replacement for the spot this place used to occupy. Once the excitement here died down, it has been much easier to get a table. We've been a few times, since it is in walking distance, and have always been very happy with the food, and we've tried most of the items on the menu at this point. Contrary to a couple of reviews, I actually think the prices are quite good for the level of cuisine, service, ambiance, etc. I hope they stay that way. If I had any criticism, one would be to take reservations on weekends! I get that you're very busy and it doesn't seem to matter, but my guess is people will stop trying (we have) and you'll see a big slowdown. And second, I actually love the live music, but hoo boy is it loud and mixed poorly. Gentle reminder that it is a restaurant and not a club. Found this place on TikTok so it's only natural being a Long Beach native to stop by and support a local business. Tucked away in the parking lot of target is this beautiful hidden gem. The inside is very modern with a twist of boho chic, reminds me of the skims store. We were so lucky to have been serviced by Hailey. First off not only is she drop dead gorgeous "most of the staff is" her energy was very captivating. She made sure our drinks were topped off, she was knowledgeable on the menu and gave great recommendations. Must try drinks are mango lemonade, lychee garden and the call me by your name. Honestly one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I've had. Our table ordered bottomless mimosas and every single refill took forever to come out. The service was already frustrating enough, but the manager's behavior made the whole situation way worse. At one point, the manager came directly up into our space in a really aggressive way demanding my ID. I explained I didn't have it on me, and instead of handling the situation professionally or calmly, he immediately became confrontational and tried blaming the server by saying "the server told me," when he was clearly the one watching us the entire time. It felt extremely unnecessary and honestly embarrassing the way he approached us in front of everyone. What bothered me most was how he handled it, not discreetly, not respectfully, just immediately hostile and accusatory. The server actually seemed scared and kept saying her job was on the line, which made the whole atmosphere even more uncomfortable. I completely understand restaurants have to take alcohol laws seriously, but the issue was the way the manager handled the situation. Came around 6:15 on a Friday night. Place was busy and was quoted 30-45 min for a table. We were able to find a spot at the bar for our party of 4 and had some apps and drinks while waiting for a table. I went back to the hostess stand to make sure they knew we were at the bar waiting for a table as they hadn't taken my name. One of the servers said they'd get my name on the list. I went to this establishment with my mother for evening rations. We were seated and I immediately noticed that the ambient noise level was quite high. I noticed that there was a stage and a band played some music which basically amounted to noise during part of the time I was there. I ordered the fish and chips and had "Wooder" to drink. I thought that the server was a bit slow in bringing the "Wooder" as well as paper napkins that I requested. I am dinging this establishment one point for the slow response regarding the napkins as well as the delay in bringing the "Wooder." The food was good but I thought that the portion size was a bit small considering the price. Men's washroom was clean and had paper towels available..... good. I have a bone to pick with the personal appearance of at least one of the guys who are employees at this establishment. I noticed that at least one of the employees was improperly dressed because his shirt was untucked. I consider that to be highly unprofessional so I am dinging this establishment one point. This place surpassed my expectations BY FAR! The aesthetic was everything, the music was great, and the hospitality was a 10/10. Went during lunch time on a Monday and it wasn't busy at all. The smashed sliders were so flavorful and a nice size for them to have been minis. The salmon bits were tasty, they needed hot sauce BUT unfortunately they didn't have any hot sauce on salsas. The cheese fries tasted better than they looked, way better. We got this one seafood dish that came with bread, don't remember what it was but it was really good! The wings, salt and pepper, were amazing and they came with a sauce, drown them in the sauce! It took the wings to another level! We asked for the wings crunchy too, they were made to perfection. 2 of my friends also ordered tacos, they really enjoyed them. We ordered a lot of appetizers and shared them amongst each other. The ceviche and sliders were probably my favorite. We also got to get a few happy hour deals, the pineapple Paloma was refreshing and delicious. Every drink we had was REALLY GOOD, the bartender did his big one! It was my birthday so they gave me this birthday flan (wasn't a fan of flan, but my friends devoured it. We went to Luna Bistro & Cafe last night and it was a vibe it was pacekd, especially the bar. We didn't drink but the cocktails passing by were so pretty. The aesthetics of the place was so nice especially if you went when it was the previous spot, it's a total upgrade. I had the mango lemonade which was refreshing not very lemony, but good. The star of the show for me was the shrimp fried rice, I couldn't stop eating it had such a good flavor and they really packed the shrimp in there which were plump and fresh. The carnitas plate was pretty amazing and the presentation was beautiful. We asked for an order of salsa verde to go with it but the meat was tender and flavorful, the rice is good and the black beans were some of the best we've had in a while. Hubby doesn't even like beans at all and even he was digging them. The salmon with lemon honey glaze was fresh and delicious and definitely a great portion. They have live music, Thursday-Sunday (not a quiet vibe). Came here on a Monday with my 4 friends. It was my bestfriends birthday. We were greeted and seated immediately as it was early, an hour or two before happy hour. We started with drinks, we first ordered 3 prickly pear margaritas (not on the menu but saw that they had prickly pear flavoring), my besties sister ordered a Call Me by Your Name(which is a vodka/Champagne drinks), and my other ordered an old fashioned (not pictured). The mini sliders, the salt and pepper wings, the shrimp ceviche(slight spiciness), cheesy fries, the salmon bites, the shrimp and mussels, and the steak tacos. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!! We literally have no complaints. My favorites were the ceviche and the cheese fries. So flavorful for a dish that is typically known to be simple. As for the service, the staff are really great. Our waitress (i apologize, her name escapes me) but she was so nice, so attentive, and very very honest. She would tell us what was good, and what we probably wouldn't like, which is appreciated. Finally checked out Luna Bistro Bar after seeing it go viral -- and living across the street, I had to try it! The drinks were absolutely amazing, especially the ones made by Drew (bartender). I had the Cosa Picosa, Dirty Martini, and Flower Girl, all great, flavorful, and perfectly mixed. When someone else made my second drink, it just wasn't the same, so I asked Drew to remake it and wow -- night and day. He really knows what he's doing. Food was good overall -- we had the salmon bites and a shrimp dish that also came with mussels. The shrimp was great, but the mussels were a little overcooked, very chewy and not very enjoyable. We also ordered the Naughty Fries, but returned them. They came topped with what looked like a slice of Kraft cheese -- just not the vibe. Service was terrible from the start. I waited almost 30 minutes for my chicken sandwich, and when it finally arrived, both the sandwich and fries were cold. The top of the bun was dry and crusty, while the bottom was mushy and wet. The cheese had already started to congeal, which tells you exactly how long it had been sitting out. I actually saw my food sitting on the counter and asked about it. I was told that the food was "under the warmer" and that they bring everything to the table at the same time. Clearly that wasn't the case. Another diner nearby had the same issue. She asked for new fries -- the fries were literally the only thing she ordered -- and the waitress shoved them back at her with an attitude, insisting they were fresh. When the customer asked again for hot fries, the waitress argued with her instead of simply fixing the problem. When I told my own waitress that my order was unappealing and cold, she asked if I wanted it remade, but I declined because I didn't have another half-hour to sit and wait. At that point, I was just ready to leave. I paid my tab and still left a tip, but after today's experience, I don't see myself returning. We waited over 30 minutes without any updates, and when a manager (dressed in all black, Latino) finally came by to ask how we were doing, we let him know we'd been waiting a long time. He didn't apologize or offer any explanation, and he never checked back on us. After that, every time he walked past our table, the vibe felt uncomfortable and dismissive -- almost like we were being ignored on purpose. A girlfriend and I came to Luna to celebrate a big accomplishment, and we were genuinely impressed! The drinks were so good, the ambiance was fantastic, and the service--especially from the bartenders--was absolutely wonderful. Everyone behind the bar was kind, helpful, and made us feel really welcome. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is due to one unfortunate interaction as we were leaving. While we did stay a little past closing (around 10:15pm), it was only because the bartenders were engaging with us and said they didn't mind if we finished our drinks. Both of us have worked in the service industry, so we understand the frustration of guests lingering, but in this case, we genuinely felt welcome to stay and chat. However, as we were walking out, one of the female servers said "Have a great night" and, as the door was just about to close, practically yelled "FINALLY" with a dramatic scoff. It felt incredibly unnecessary and left a sour note on an otherwise lovely evening. I'm only writing this review in hopes that management sees it as a learning opportunity. Luna is a beautiful new spot with so much potential, and building a loyal clientele starts with hospitality--even in the last few minutes of the night.
