Don't go there on a slow night. My wife and I took four out of town visitors for a special night out. Server Yasmin was wonderful. 5 of the 6 entrees were served promptly and were fine. The sixth entree was left undelivered. I asked two kitchen aides, and surprised our waitress when I told her the Hanger Steak had not been delivered. I asked for the manager who reluctantly offered to bring another steak to our guest. The best she could offer was a comp on the abandoned entree. The replacement steak was satisfactory. The ambiance is nice, I'd recommend coming for some drinks and an appetizer. Other than that the menu is HUGE and a bit confusing. I found my food to be under seasoned and dry. My table had ordered a burger, spicy chicken sandwich, fried calamari and the chicken club. The chicken sandwiches were good, the fries are okay but the burger was really dry. We really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately the food was terrible. We ordered the chicken strips with upgraded truffle fries, fried avocado, and baked Brussels sprouts with bacon bits. If we had to use one word to describe the meal, it would be "mushy." The Brussels sprouts were undercooked, had no flavor, and tasted as if they were a day old and re-warmed in the microwave. The breading on the chicken was soft, and the quality was comparable to a kid's meal at a little league baseball game. The fries were below average. The fried avocado strips were probably the best part, although several of them were squished. The meal wasn't worth even half of how much they charged for it. Horrible!!! My husband and I went there for dinner after church...mistake!!! I had the baby back ribs, brussel sprouts, and sweet potato fries. The ribs were hard and dry. Been here a few times for happy hour events. Overall the experience is great. The ambience inside is great for a date and the staff is very professional and helpful. The drinks menu is massive as well as the entree list as well. The entrees look amazing, but the happy hour options could use a little help in terms of the quality and appearance. This place exceeded my expectations. The server, Nicolette was awesome. This was our first time in and she made us feel very comfortable. It was just my 2 year old daughter and I and she understood that the fruit had to come out after the chicken nuggets otherwise the nuggets wouldn't be eaten. My daughter loved and ate all of her food which is a miracle. I had a double (actually quadruple) espresso which was awesome and the lunch specials are great. The last 2 times I have been to this establishment have been extremely disappointing. My friend and I sat at the bar for Happy Hour, we sat there for 10 minutes before being acknowledged, so we moved to a booth. Once seated we waited for another 10 minutes before my friend got up to ask when we would be served. It took over 30 minutes to get a drink and its a good thing we ordered off the menu because Happy Hour was over before we got our dinner. The same thing happened last week when I took my daughter there. After 30 minutes of being ignored we got up and left. The service has declined considerably. I understand the problems restaurants have with wait staff right now but to have those that do work there walk by your table time and time again and not get acknowledged is horrible customer service. I had such a wonderful time at Maggie's a couple weeks ago with friends. While the food was good, what really stood out was our server Bri, she was amazing!!! She was extremely friendly and even helped us to decide what to get. She was quick with our drinks, our food came out hot and she never let us want for anything. Here's the thing, the food was a little cold. The tortellini soup had no tortellini in it. The Caramelized onions were burnt to an everliving crisp. So why four stars? Because the drinks were awesome, the service was incredible. My sandwich was taken off the bill for being a little cold. The environment is great. The menu offers an incredible range of options. They even make your birthday very special! The wait staff cares and wants you to have a good time. BUYER BEWARE: After receiving very bad service and not great meals awhile ago my daughter and I decided to give them another chance. Ordered shrimp and scallops with penne ala vodka. After about 30 minutes I started feeling ill and had to leave the restaurant immediately. Once I got home I became violently ill from food poisoning that lasted twelve hours and put me out of commission for several days. My daughter called the restaurant the next day to tell them and inquire if anyone else called and got nothing but a run around. I had a great lunch here with my mom on this chilly first day of spring. The menu is huge and reminds me of the Cheesecake Factory. There is something for everyone and then some! The food is delicious. I ordered the Cheeseburger and it had a few different cheeses, garlic aioli and lots of pickles. Yum. You can pick your side and I picked the roasted cauliflower dip with fresh made potato chips. It was so flavorful and I would go back just for that. They do offer an express type lunch menu but nothing appealed to me. The prices were average to a little above and for $12 I was more than full as was my mom who ordered the French dip and loved it. Her side was a salad which she loved even more. We had tea to end our meal and got to pick our flavors from a box. Went here last night because we were staying at the hotel across the street. Got seated immediately, which was nice. Our server was Scott and he was very attentive and friendly. We had our 5 and 7 year old kids with us, and it seems like a pretty kid friendly place. The menu has a ton of kid friendly options. We ended up ordering pizza for them. The menu in general is very extensive and has a ton of variety. My husband ordered one of the steaks with a side of garlic mashed potatoes, and I ordered salad with salmon on it. The food came out quickly and everything we ordered was delicious. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was that it was pretty pricey. My salad was $18 and my husband's steak was $30. I had lunch here with a friend yesterday. We sat in a booth in the back and our waiter was Gage. At first he was friendly but when I asked about an item on the menu he became annoyed. I asked about mayonnaise in the Waldorf salad to which he replied, "I don't know." I asked him to find out and from there it was downhill. He immediately copped an attitude and was pretty much inattentive from then on. He didn't smile and didn't offer refills until asked. I've been a waitress and I know what it takes to be a good one and this guy doesn't have it. The menu was disgusting, the pages were stuck together which tells me the health inspector probably needs to pop in soon. The food was okay not that anyone cared because our waiter didn't ask. A long review from long time regulars who have become totally turned off. My husband and I have been going to Maggie's in Glastonbury since it opened. Boy has it declined since then both in quality of food and in service. We were about twice weekly regulars for years; and sometimes more than twice a week. We spend a lot of money there; we like the drinks and we always order lunch or dinner. In the last few years, the quality and presentation of the food has declined and become pretty sloppy. I've found ways around this since the menu is so huge but it also seems to sacrifice quality for quantity. The quality of the managers has declined significantly over the last few years as well. They're just not very personable or attentive and it seems like they don't really know what constitutes good service; for example, when people are sitting at the bar and constantly have to respond to servers walking around carrying food asking people if they ordered it. You'd think they'd use a system so the servers have a general idea of who ordered it. The latest decline is in the bar service. We were always welcomed and acknowledged as regular customers, the bartenders knew our names, what we like to drink and how we like to dine. They remembered all of the little changes I ask for in my orders and were also able to make recommendations based on their familiarity with us. Now, some of the bartenders are nice but not "stand-out" and they seem to value making their own changes to drinks versus serving what is described in the menu. My husband wondered why his sangria tasted different and we learned that the bartender takes it upon herself to use different ingredients. Why have a menu description? I'm often asked if I prefer my drink with champagne as though that's not what is described in the menu. I've checked numerous times since I think it's so bizarre that they'd think my preference is the exception to what their menu describes. I had been to Maggie McFly's one other time a few years ago and thought it was average but a friend suggested we try their happy hour so I was open to giving it another try. Unfortunately the experience made me remember why it's not on the top of my list to visit. We got there around 4:30 and the place was already so packed that we had to use the free valet option. Kind of annoying but moving on. When we walked in, the restaurant side was empty but everyone had crammed into the bar. There was no one to greet us so we proceeded to the bar area where we found all the stools to be full. Shortly after, a party in the surrounding bar booths were leaving so we decided to take their booth. We stood there about 10 minutes with no acknowledgement before a waitress comes by to tell us that we actually couldn't sit there because bar stools were not self seated but that we could sit because we'd been standing there. Ok. Had we been greeted, maybe we would have known....service afterward was fine. New waiter but friendly. Overall just really disorganized. Decent food but nothing to rave home about or that you can't get elsewhere with better service. read more

A decent place for happy hour. I hadn't been to the Glastonbury location yet so I stopped in for a drink and a quick bite a few days ago. It was mobbed which I suppose attests to the restaurant's growing popularity. Despite the crowd, I somehow snagged a seat at the bar and ordered a French 75 from the epically long drink menu; the first cocktail was very well made (as opposed to the second, made by a different bartender. That one was completely off). I've heard people describe Maggie McFly's as a nonchain (ok, smaller chain) version of the Cheesecake Factory and they're definitely on to something here. The menu is simply massive and, at least from the sampling I had, not everything is done terribly well. Lots of choices, half-assed execution at times. Take happy hour for example. We ordered fried calamari, steak skewers, nachos and a few other small plates. Prices are GREAT for HH, I'll say that. $3-4 for small plate versions of regular appetizers. The nachos were atrocious, served cold with some overly salty cheeze whiz on top. Steak skewers were delightful and calamari was just fine, but hit or miss with a few other dishes as well. Our party of 6 arrived around 5:30pm and we were seated right away (5 adults, 1 kid). We really liked the new look of the place, having last been inside when it was Houlihan's. They swapped the bar over from one side of the room to the other. Everything inside looked more high-end, but they didn't touch the bathrooms, and it showed. The doors on the stalls of the ladies room have really taken a beating. One was held up with duct tape. Not a good look. The paper dispenser inside the wall was falling off the wall. It was clean though, which for me is the most important thing. The service was prompt and polite. Our waiter was very helpful in making recommendations and making sure we knew that since things are cooked to order, they can accommodate the picky people in our group who didn't like one thing or another. The drink service was a little weird, with the bar order arriving before soda though by about 5 minutes. The menu was HUGE. REALLY HUGE. It was so big I was a little worried about how good the food would be, knowing they were cooking so many different things. Thankfully, this wasn't a problem. Food timing was a little off. We had either almost or just barely finished appetizers when food started showing up - and then one entrée was missing...for a while. However, when it did come, the server took the order off the bill for us without us even raising a fuss over it. Everyone seemed to enjoy their order - 4 of the 6 got burgers cooked exactly as ordered. I can't remember the other 2 orders now since it's been a couple of weeks. I will say that this place is incredibly LOUD. We noticed it right off when we got in, and while the restaurant was over 1/2 full when we arrived, it sounded like there were an extra hundred people running around. Everything seems to echo.
