On 11/12 at approximately 10:30pm, my girlfriend and I went to the Glastonbury location for a couple of drinks and some appetizers. We waned to sit at the right side of the bar (the side closer to the dining area), but the bartender never cleaned off the dozens of napkins, glasses, silverware, olive oil, etc., stretching across that entire right side. So we decide to sit on the opposite side, no big deal, until we saw that the entire left side was filthy as well. Mind you, the bar had only 2 occupants during our arrival. The bartender, who's name I did not get, nonchalantly acknowledged our presence, and decided to chat and joke around with one of the bar-backs instead of cleaning off the area where we sat at (the least filthy area). The food we ordered was ok and came out promptly, hence the two stars. However, the condition of the bar and the lack of care from the bartender was totally unacceptable. I can't image what a health inspector would say if he had to sit next to old dried up plates of mozzarella right next to you. Or the dirty bar mats laid out on the bar top. Or the lack of coasters making every glass bleed water all over the top. Either way, we used to come here frequently. The lack of a manager doing his/her job overseeing the disaster that was that bar was unbelievable. I'm starting to reconsider Maggie's as a viable option for an enjoyable experience. read more

I've eaten here a few times before and had some great experiences. Not today though. Fries were very well done and crunchy hard for 2 of the 4 people in our party. Served my sons filet on a huge plate all by itself and it looked silly and small. Was more med-well than medium. I needed a steak knife for my chicken because the butter knife at the table couldn't cut through it. My side of spinach was not cooked completely and the brown rice was overcooked. We came here after receiving poor service at a previous restaurant in Glastonbury . The food was delicious and the service was great! My boyfriend ordered the broiled maine lobster stuffed with crab meat and I got the lobster mac and cheese which quickly became my favorite dish. Our server was super kind and helpful. I wish I remembered her name so she can get the credit. The only description I have is that she was 7 months pregnant and even then she still managed to quickly assist us and make sure we had everything. We left a $20 tip for her because we were super grateful for her excellent customer service. read more

Damn. When I walked in I wanted to like this place. They had a nice bar from afar and some good looking food from what I could tell. Decent appetizer menu for happy hour and okay drink prices. But they need to clean that place. There were fruit flies congregating on one of the speed Wells. And one of those little bastards flew into my beer. no bar should have bugs like that. No bar should have bugs like that. And fruit flies are a common bar plague that can be resolved through cleaning. read more

I always have an unpleasant time at this particular Maggie Mcflys. There seem to be many servers, but for some reason the service is extremely slow. My glass of water doesn't seem get refilled until my waiter is around my table for me to flag him/her down. As for the food, it always looks appealing on the menu and even on the warm plate itself... however, the taste is either completely bland or ordinary. For a place that charges the prices that they do for their dishes, I expect more flavor -- or at least something to write home about. But sadly, this is never the case. Save your money and spend it elsewhere. You will be much happier if you take my word. read more

I have been here before and remember really enjoying the food so decided I'd go for lunch here today. I had my 3 year old and my baby with me and a friend. When we got there it seemed promising we sat and got our drinks right away. The food took pretty long and was cold it was pretty good as I remembered just cold. Also we asked the waitress for a booster seat and she never brought it, also asked for lemon three times and never received it. I don't feel it was her fault I feel there was not enough people on and she was doing to much. Not sure we'd go back. Ray I'm not sure how to do that. But I don't remember now I believe it's been a month I can look for the bill to see if her name was in it. read more

I'm not surprised this one has much poorer reviews than the other one in Manchester. I ordered the exact same thing at both. Got totally different dishes. Came with a group of 8 of us. Most of us got a drink. Those were ok. But food.... Oh so different than the other place. Food wasn't good. Also, my food came 20 min after others, and was told the chef dropped my food on the floor and had to remake it. They have me the dish gratis (hence the second star) but oh boy. Pizza dough was raw. Maggie McFly's is a good American restaurant with a chill atmosphere, however, it's nothing to rave about. The menu is huge with more than enough options for even the pickiest of eaters. With that said, you will find something to eat, however, it can be a hit or miss. I've had really delicious meals and I've had poorly executed meals lacking flavor. I would say the food is average. Their breadsticks are really grand, so order those as a snack while looking the large menu! read more

I'm a regular at this location, food is good, service usually prompt and friendly. A bad experience recently however, came home to find items in my take home bag missing, a turkey sandwich. Spoke to "Mataya" who claimed to be a manager, asked her if I could stop by at my next convenience to get a turkey sandwich on the house. Mataya declined, however offered HALF a sandwich. I have no intention of driving 20 something miles for half a sandwich. Managers have no authority to comp a sandwich? 2 attempts to contact via their websites "contact us" form have gone unanswered. Check your takeout bags carefully. It'll be a while before my staff or I return, if ever. No Ray, YOUR error, YOUR server, "Raven." Never packed my food. I did NOT leave it on the table...And I don't appreciate the attempt to spin the truth. I had a very bad experience on Saturday June 29, 2019. We went to Maggie's after a play. We had a large party of 15. It took 40!minutes to get our drinks and then 30 minutes later we got cold soup and stone cold nachos. Also the duct work was sweating and drops of God knows what water sprinkled is all night. It was not crowded. The manager and waitress seemed Annoyed we were complaining so much. I believe the manager that night was Adrian. I'm really surprised seeing bad reviews of this place. As a family with small children, it is one of our favorite places to go for a family dinner. My son just turned 4 and selected it as the place where he wanted to go out to eat for his birthday. We've always had impeccable service and great food. The menu is huge and there are many selections. They're very accommodating for families with kids; usually sit us in a nice big booth so our kids have plenty of space. I honestly had a much worse experience at the Southbury location, where the restaurant was packed and there was nowhere to wait for our table (again, with kids, who needed a place to sit while we waited). But the Glastonbury location has never failed to disappoint! read more

This was a super fun place for happy hour. We scored a nice booth in the bar and tried several of the appetizers (they were only $3 during happy hour!). The food was good, the prices were great, and the service was good as well. Parking can be a pain during peak times...it was busy when I got there and it was a mini traffic jam with all the cars in the small lot. There is a second overflow lot, which is good. I have been to Maggie's on multiple occasions (post work "happy hours" with friends, celebrations with friends, date nights, & just grabbing a weekend drink with friends) - I've had generally good experiences. While the menu can be overwhelming, I've been sticking to the Bar Bites menu which provides you a smaller appetizer of many of their appetizers or snacks from the menu. Served only in the bar but you can't go wrong with the price ($3.99/each). Last night I went here for a late dinner and split the bar bites onion rings and dined on the fried Mac & cheese bites (2 come with the bar bites option) I paired it with the bar bites salad and called it a meal. The drink menu is also extensive! I love the electric martinis (martinis with a fun light up ice cube) ... My favorite is the Barbie's Dream house (very pink and sweet - oh and lined with pop rocks... Ahmazing!) I also love their White Sangria. --- I've had wonderful service and sometimes not so wonderful service but overall I've enjoyed my experiences here and plan on returning again soon! read more

This was my first time Maggie McFly's and I can't wait to go again. The Glastonbury location was the site of many failed restaurants. Maggie McFly's has turned this location into a winner. Most of the booths are the old fashion dug out curved ones. It gives the place a unique flair. They've made the place open and inviting. The menu is quite large. I tend to dislike huge menus. I get overwhelmed with the choices and this is a menu that's easy to get overwhelmed by. I went right to the lunch specials. My wife and I had the Waldorf Chicken Salad. The sandwich comes grilled and crunchy. It's an outstanding chicken salad. The kids loved their food and we had to satisfy a 2 year old girl and a 6 year old boy. Maggie McFly's is a good experience. First time here. Long Island ice teas were good, perfect balance of booze, coke and sour mix. Started with the beef skewers and the edamame pot stickers. Skewers were very good, medium rare and the ginger aoli was a perfect dip. Pot stickers were good, a bit bland, the dipping sauce carried all the flavor. Boyfriend got the Pulled Pork burger, medium rare. The burger was good but juice. The only thing that held it together was the pretzel bun. Fries were nice and crispy. I got the French dip. Sent it back after one bite. They used a sweet onion on the sandwich that over powered the whole thing and was the only thing I could taste. Manager was very nice about it, and offered to have me pick something else. I got the Carrot Cake, that was 5 layers of bliss. And he took the French Dip off the bill. I am of late looking for truly good hamburgers. Ordering chopped meat in busy and/or typical venues can prove 'choppy' and/or 'dicey'. While every beef, brew + more restaurant does burgers, it's how burgers are presented; is the burger 'substantial'; is it prepared to the customer's specifications; is the bun worthy of the burger and what about the fries? One can find hamburgers in my town, but they are sadly nothing to ZING about. I visited Maggie's Glastonbury yesterday afternoon at an in-between hour. Plenty of customers, but not busy. The barkeep was attentive; she listened. I ordered a grass-fed burger with swiss on a toasted pretzel bun. Might we all agree that when a good burger is served on a barely toasted standard bun, the delightful joy of a good combination of 'chew' is missing. This Maggie burger was very tasty. I've always sought a 'medium' grill, but asked for medium-well yesterday. [Meat lovers please don't be offended; it was for my present diet]. The toasted bun was just sensational. The fries were ample and although perhaps a tad under-fried, they were served 'hot' and not overly greased. [Fry lovers know there's nothing less appetizing than being served pommes frites which were sitting mucho many minutes atop the kitchen's pickup station]. All in all a nice experience. And believe it or not, even though it was a hot summer's day, there were quite a few patrons dining on their outdoor patio, not far from their lit 'gas' firepit. Definitely a family type brew restaurant and conveniently located close to an I91 exit for those traveling in the Hartford region. read more

I mean let's face it. This is a pretty straightforward restaurant with pretty standard fare. It's a big place and yet the parking lot always seems to be more packed than the place. Menu is HUGE almost diner-esque. Service is fair. Goin there to drink and you'll most likely confuse the entire bar as far as where you want to sit. There are booths in the bar and seating outside and yet a completely different set of servers for all of them. You'll confuse everyone if you want to go in there and seat yourself. I have been to the Manchester one twice before. I was glad they had free valet, parking was difficult. We, 4 adults, 2 kids, got there at 7 PM on Friday night. We were seated immediately! I thought there would be a long wait. We were greeted immediately and place drink orders with an order of the Tex Mex egg rolls and quesadilla. The food came out hot and quickly. It seemed just as we finished the appetizers the food came out. I ordered the fish and chips with sweet potato fries. The fries were incredible and how can you do fried fish wrong. Although food is good and service was ok, the music kills the entire experience. Loud and junky. I have tried the restaurant before and complained about it but some things never change. Sorry but never again. There are other places nearby just as good or even better to choose from. Next time I will go to one of these. All of the food here is wonderful, the atmosphere was great- the menu is extensive probably the biggest menu I've ever seen, came here with our 5 year old son, even the kids menu was crazy long lots to choose from no matter what you're craving they have something that will satisfy. I was lucky enough to have decent experiences here in the past but this last visit my luck ran out. I was at a work lunch with about ten people and my coworker and I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. We each ate about half of it before realizing something was off. The chicken definitely was not fresh but it was hard to tell because of the amount of mayo they mixed in with it. Him and I both got sick following lunch... My theory is the huge menu makes it impossible for them to keep all the necessary ingredients fresh and on hand. Gross. read more

Overall I would not recommend this a place as a place to to get food. It might be a good place to meet a person for drinks, but the food tastes less than fresh. I had the Seafood Paella. It lacked the saffron specialty that defines a Paella. This was my second visit after first tying the street tacos. The street tacos had good meat, but for their size/price ratio, the meal was not satisfying. My companion had a turkey burger that looked like it had been taken out of the freezer and warned on the grill. They have a book for a menu and don't seem to have a specialty when it comes to food. They do have an extensive dessert menu that includes cupcakes from NoRA's cupcake in Middletown and Pralines ice cream that are good. Service is attentive and nice. I have been here many times and have sat at tables all but twice. The service was always excellent, the food good. The service was fine the first time I sat at the bar but it was terrible last night. When we arrived there were several seats open but the bar was fairly busy with happy hour having just ended and the dinner rush in progress. We were in no rush for food and made it clear that we would there for a while ordering snacks and sharing snacks along the way. That said, there were two young bartenders working that seemed to take turns disappearing. I can forgive forgetting to lay out the napkins for placements - although this was done for all the other customers, even the ones sitting to our immediate right and left. Glasses sat empty for 10 minutes or more, small plates were not provided for shared plates, there wasn't always a check back for quality of food or to offer condiments and my credit card sat on the bar with empty glasses and plates for at least 10 minutes while people all around us were served and checked on. The bartenders were not even making eye contact so I had to call out excuse me twice, both times were met with impatient 'just a minute' responses. Who needs plates, right? I got utensils, ketchup and pepper from other tables and servers rather than dealing with the bartenders. I finally took my check to the hostess station so I could pay someone and get out of there and manager came to get some information on what had happened. To his credit, he quickly took care of the bill deducted a portion - which I did not ask for or expect - and promised to deal with the issue once we had left. I put myself through school waitressing, I know it's a tough job. I don't consider myself to be a demanding customer but some simple rules include not letting glasses (drinks or water) sit empty, bring plates for shared food and check back to see if anything is needed and if the food is okay. And don't let credit cards just sit on the bar endlessly! I do think the food is very good quality and affordable. There are healthy options for my son and the wait staff on the floor has always been great. Exceptional at times. I sincerely hope the manager addressed this incident with his bartenders and have them do a little additional training with some more seasoned staff members. read more
