The campfire donut was visually stunning! The pink biking bunny box they put it in was lovely. It would make an impressive presentation to give someone. However, the texture of the donut was dry and tasted more like bread. I love dark chocolate and find most donuts too sweet, but this one could use a bit more sugar. The marshmallow was pretty tasty. I saw this shop on an IG reel and wanted to try because I love sourdough and donuts. It was the best of both worlds. I came to the shop on Friday the 22nd around 2:15 pm. I got the cheesecake, lemon meringue, and blueberry. The cheesecake flavor wasn't for me because it was a little bit sweet. I liked the filling of the lemon and the meringue. For the blueberry donut, the blueberry goes well with the lime on top. All of the donuts base were really fluffy and light. I ate the blueberry the next day and the donut was still fluffy. I enjoyed the sourdough donuts and would definitely come back to try their other flavors. read more

Have been meaning to try this place since it opened! Magic donuts serves sourdough donuts with unique (but not TOO unique) flavor combinations. The restaurant is big and was quite full on a Saturday afternoon but the person at the counter was really patient regardless. We got the salted dark chocolate, cheesecake, blueberry lime, and vanilla honey donuts. Cheesecake was the best one! Super creamy and perfectly sweet with little mochi "blueberries" on it. Hmm, I wasn't a fan of the donuts here. As mentioned in other reviews, they're sourdough donuts. I was not aware of this prior to coming here. We got the sugar donut, double strawberry, and lemon meringue pie. Obviously their displays and presentations are very impressive. The sourness of the sourdough does not go that well with the tartness of the fruit or sweet toppings in my opinion. My friend had a bite of the sugar donut and couldn't finish the rest. Lemon meringue pie looks very pretty but the egg smell is very prominent. I enjoyed the strawberry toppings. The donut itself is a bit dense, maybe closer to a cake donut? Don't expect soft pillowy donuts with these types of donuts. All $5-6 per donut, with 3.5% SF mandate. The default tip is 20% which is a bit egregious to me, but at least it's not mandatory. Service was fine, please, I'm just picking up some donuts lol It's worth a visit for the novelty and the cool flavors they offer. But you might be disappointed if you're expecting a typical raised or cake donut. read more

Popped in randomly to this sharp looking eatery to pick up a treat after a visit to nearby UCSF Medical Center. Bought 3 donuts, two Boston Creme and a Glazed, to go without really looking at the menu board. When the girl put my 3 donuts in an attractive little box, I knew these would be pricy, yet still the $19 and change (not including a tip) it cost still managed to shock me. When I crave a donut here and there I come here to obtain one! I recently did and when I took my first bite at home I notice the dough of the donut was off! Felt like I was chewy on a cardboard and slightly soft inside.I've eaten a lot of these before so I know something must of gone wrong during the process of making these donuts. I quickly called to inform the employee. Since I was already home I asked if I can come by tomorrow to get a free donut since I was not able to eat the donut I purchased. Employee went on about the dough and told me to email them. I did its been more than 2 weeks since I emailed them and have not heard anything about me receiving a refund or at least give me the option to get one donut! The texture is light and delicious, and while personally I don't think I was able to distinguish the tart sourdough taste, we really enjoyed all the flavors we tried! They were not too sweet but still packed a lot of taste! My husband and I agreed that the matcha was our favorite! Wow! I was so impressed by these donuts, I was a little worried they'd be gimmicky and overly sugary but these are some of the best donuts in San Francisco. All of their donuts are sourdough and have the best flavor and texture. They are super bouncy and not terribly oily. There are two types of donuts here: the classic, and the patisserie. Try one of each. The milk chocolate glazed was soooo good. Fluffy on the inside, firm on the outside, the chocolate was a perfect amount, and fleur de sel sprinkled on top kept it from feeling too sweet. The taro cheesecake- wow. This is a mini cake built for two. Phenomenal. Also, the shop is so pretty! Pink everything- like stepping into a movie set. And the staff is helpful and patient while walking you through your options. When it got busy, a handsome man in a suit with a great smile even jumped in to help behind the donut case. I heard about this shop on Instagram and decided to try it out since I live nearby. I had a cappuccino and the double strawberry donut and both were lovely. The coffee was great. The donut was sweet, but not too sweet. I even licked the bag! I took a cheesecake donut home for later although I don't typically go for the more over the top options. It was good, but a little too much for me. I prefer my cheesecake and donuts to be separate. I'll definitely be back to try the other flavors. As for the price. I saw this place on TikTok and decided to give it a try. We came on a Saturday super. The place is very beautiful and welcoming. I love how soft the colors are. They had a lot of doughnuts. We got six doughnuts and 2 coffees. It was $50 yes that is a lot. However the coffee was perfect. I had a caramel latte. Literally perfect I enjoyed every drop. We had a milk chocolate it was perfect. Not overly sweet just perfect and one doughnut is very filling. I also loved my cheese cake. It was not sour how cheesecake is. It had a perfect creamy taste. My son loves matcha and he literally loved it and was mad we did not get him more. My youngest son had the s'mores doughnut. He also loved his. Yes it's a little pricey but you get what you pay for. I rather pay a little more for a doughnuts my family and I really love. No to mention the customer service was great and the doughnuts are a work of art. This donut shop is beautiful. The donuts are displayed like pieces of fine jewelry, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I wanted to rate this place higher, because its conveniently located and who doesn't love a good donut and good coffee. I think I just don't like sourdough donuts. It tastes weird to me. San Francisco is famous for sourdough, but these donuts just seem like a gimmick to me... a $6 gimmick that I took a couple bites of and threw the rest away. I'm disappointed to learn the coffee is artisinal and small batch, because it doesn't taste like it. lovely little store with a cute aesthetic, everything from their donut to their business cards are eye candy ! store was not busy at all around 11am on a tuesday and lots of street parking was available. i got their lemon meringue and maple pecan. the lemon meringue was a looot, i really enjoyed the meringue but couldn't finish it even though i made sure to get it in each bite. the maple pecan was a miss for me too, was expecting more from the custard but it fell flat. the donuts were not too sweet and had a nice chewy texture. it was a lil difficult to cut and share so maybe just eat it all by yourself LOL definitely a nice once in a while treat given its price but they have lots of fun flavors to choose from ! i'd be interested in their smores or taro cheesecake next time. update to reply to uri: thanks so much for replying ! from what i can remember i just felt like the custard was too bland and didn't do anything to uplift or provide a flavor contrast the donut. :) not sure how to reply back but hope that helps ! read more

With that price it better be hella good or delicious, but I tried the camp fire one (chocolate with a giant marshmallow) and it did not taste fresh and I was very disappointed. Barely passed for mediocre. I ordered a few others that I wanted to try but ended up giving it away for how disappointed I was. I'll stick with Bob's donuts or Voodoo donuts instead for 1/2-1/3 the price per donut. I even rather have a Safeway donut than the ones here. I saw this written up somewhere so decided to give it a try this morning. Oh my goodness the cheesecake donut is SO delicious it really is more of a dessert. It is pumpkin. Flavor for the season but it is light and not too sweet and not too pumpkin-y for my hubby. It was perfection!! We also tried the lime blueberry. Yum!! And we have a lemon merengue for later. I found a maggot in my donut. I called to let them know and that I'd be returning. When I arrived, they continued to display the lemon meringue donut for sale. The outer appearance of the place looks clean but clearly looks are deceiving. ---In response to the business owner: what a ridiculous response. "Would you be able to provide more information about when you visited our shop and purchased the donut, relative to when you made this discovery?" You know exactly when I discovered a maggot in my donut. As clearly stated, I returned to the store the same day and a manager had to approve my refund while still displaying the same donuts for sale. In the video you can clearly see a maggot which negates you saying how clean your kitchen is or how fresh the donut was. "Please do not hesitate to reach out with more information, questions, or concerns. We appreciate your business and we hope to hear from you soon." Apart of the refund process also includes my email and phone number so there was no hesitation on my part in voicing my concerns with management and staff when I came back in person that same day. It was dismissed with a refund and carried on business as usual and now no accountability but an attempt to cover up the fact that I was sold a donut with maggots. I'm sure you'll still have returning customers despite me using this platform to inform others of my experience. However, the facts are facts and instead of fixing the issue or taking accountability your response is clearly on brand for your business. I'm sure others have had a great experience, focus on those reviews if you can't take all feedback. I hope you have attempted to actually keep your kitchen up to health department standards after my donut clearly wasn't. People will still buy your donuts, I hope that's motivation to assure sanitary conditions. read more

Hubby discovered this gem. All donuts are made with sourdough so not your average donut. We discovered the Lemon meringue was maybe our favorite. S'mores was alright. We discovered they were filled with deliciousness! The gang gives them 3.75 wow we are picky. True test would we go back? Heck yes!
