    Matcha latte with croissant
    Emily W.

Always busy here, most of the pastry is sold out by noon. The matcha is great and croissant has equal flaky texture. Need to arrive early to try their other pastry options...

The line was already forming when we arrived just ten minutes before opening. This charming little patisserie serves beautifully crafted pastries that are well worth the wait. There was nothing plain about the butter croissant. Its delicate, flaky layers and crisp, golden exterior gave way to a rich, buttery center. The traditional quiche, served warm, was the perfect start to an early Sunday morning. A light, fluffy egg custard was filled with tender bites of potato, bacon, and melted cheese, in a perfectly crisp, buttery puff pastry crust. The Paris Brest is a must order. If you're a pistachio lover, prepare to fall even harder after the very first bite. The nutty, creamy filling is decadent without being too sweet. Next time I'm going to try their pate.

I've definitely stopped at or passed by Maison Nico on the way to another venue before but never bought anything. I changed that during my weekend pastry crawl with some girl friends. This was the second spot on our prowl for SF's finest pastries. I got a plain croissant and a canelé to try a couple of the classics, and they were divine! I devoured the canelé on the spot and snacked on the croissant as we continued our walk. Both were sooo yummyyy and ended up being my fave pastries from the entire day out.

Madison Nico is in the heart of financial center a few blocks away from trans American bldg. We decided to try them out per recommendation from a friend, as we were walking through the area, we opted to take a break here. Settled on a cup of Americano and cappuccino along with a couple of rolls. They have a few tables inside as well as outside. The setting is authentic with a cozy feeling; loved the break walls inside. You order at the counter and get seated for your order. They were very efficient with serving our order. The croissant was very delicious and the coffee beans were of high quality. They have savory and sweet options for food orders and we may try the savory next time. A place to definitely try again.

I came is here because I wanted a cup of coffee before getting to the lunch place that I was planning to eat at. I ordered a cappuccino, and it was delightfully well-made with good foam. The service was quick, and the bathroom was clean and accessible. They also had a delightful selection of baked goods that I will definitely come back to sample. Ambiance was very upscale.

To no surprise, there was already a line when I arrived at 9:20am Sunday. Not too bad though, it took about 10 minutes to get inside the bakery and peruse the goods. Everything looked picturesque and delectable. I was in a rush that morning so I snagged one plain croissant, which I read rave reviews about. No seats available but I found standing room at a long counter. It was a very delicious croissant. Flaky, buttery, and soft. Wish I had time to try everything else.

Americano - unexpectedly really loved this coffee. Acidity and bitterness is very balanced, and it tastes very smooth. Pain au chocolat - nice, very crisp top, perhaps I could use a little bit more chocolate, but I enjoyed it Croissant - excellent, great flavor, rise, and structure Brioche feuilletee - this was the most special to me! I've never had this before. It's like a croissant loaf with a slightly sweet exterior, really enjoyed this and happy you can get it by the slice (which is quite thick)

Stopped by on a Friday around 3 PM, and of course, most items were already sold out. We sat outside for our first visit and got two original croissants, which were quite disappointing. While they had a good flake, they were served cold and tasted dry. On the bright side, their mocha was pretty good but probably won't come here just for coffee.

Great location, limited interior seating with outdoor tables available. 4 types of pastry only- I ordered a Yuzu Jasmine Choux and even though the filling was rich, I probably would not return just for the pastries.

Had to come here for the beautifully laminated croissants after TikTok convinced me it was a must-stop on my San Francisco trip. I grabbed a chocolate croissant, regular croissants, and a couple canelés. The space is small but absolutely beautiful, with indoor and outdoor seating plus fresh flowers near the register that added such a nice touch. The staff was kind and helpful, and it was really fun watching the pastry chefs working through the bakery window.

I am glad i stumbled upon this bakery during my walk. Best quiche I have ever had! The person that helped me was really nice and answered all my questions about the pastries.

Maison Nico is a solid French bakery with unique pastries, and on the few occasions that I have come there has always been a line but the line moves relatively fast. My go to order to get is always the chocolate croissant and the pâté which is smooth and rich. I usually order this when I go and try and snag a spot inside though there is often minimal to no seating and only about three little tables inside and outside. While the pate is delicious and absolutely unique, I do feel that the croissant and pastry based goods are not as great or fluffy and delicate as Arsticault bakery which for me is my holy grail standard for solid croissants and pastries. The pastries also were on the colder side and not as warm despite coming relatively early in the day.

Cool little joint, nice staff, not very many places to sit, so just be aware of that. Probably the best quiche and canele I've ever had. Food was excellent. Mocha Latte was very good as well. Highly recommend

I arrived at the bakery before it opened on a weekend morning, and there were already a couple of brave souls in line. I waited only about 25 minutes for the bakery to open, and once doors officially opened to customers, I was in and out in no time with my fresh pastries in hand. I enjoyed my almond croissant as soon as I got back home, and now I fully understand why Arsicault is at the top of everyone's SF bakery list. The almond croissant was still warm, the inside struck the perfect balance between fluffy and gooey (from the almond paste), and the exterior was nicely crisped. The almond filling is super rich and decadent yet not overly sweet. I also noticed - and appreciate - how Arsicault's almond croissant doesn't include toasted almonds on top, since these can often get over-baked and taste bitter. I definitely agree this is one of the best pastries in SF now.

I definitely feel like the team implementing the 7:45AM start time to line up has helped a lot. Not only is it better for the neighbors, but it also makes the whole experience feel a lot less chaotic compared to showing up super early and scrambling to get in line. Everything feels much calmer and organized now. As for the pastries: To be honest, it really depends on what you like. I'm one that gravitates towards pretty much anything with meat and chocolate. Because of that, most of their savory/meaty and creamy pastries are always a must for me. They're super flaky, flavorful and decadent. You can really tell how much time and effort they put into making everything as high quality as possible, especially since you can see them making everything from the window while waiting in line. All in all, I think there's been a lot of improvement over the past year with some trial and error. Their pastries have always been delicious and I personally think it's worth the wait. I recommend getting to the area closer to 7:45AM so you have a better chance of being towards the front of the line. If not, it's still better to come before opening, I just wouldn't recommend getting there right before they open. By then it's not guaranteed that you'll get everything you want since they do run out depending on how many people are there.

My husband got in line while I waited outside. It's on the first floor of the Japan Center Malls and easy to find in the corner. While the line was long it moved quickly and we ended up ordering two drinks and a few pastries. We had the drinks right away and I enjoyed their honeycomb toffee latte ($8.25) while my husband ordered a flavored lemonade. The Honeycomb latte wasn't overly sweet and the honeycomb on top was a nice treat. The honeycomb itself was sweet and crunchy and you can either pick it out and eat it or stir it into your drink and let it melt. The lemonade my husband ordered was on the sweeter side, but was super refreshing for summer. If you like sweet you'll like this- if you prefer less sweet or tart it may not be for you. We also brought home a few of their pastries. All of them were fresh and well made. The basque cheesecake was creamy and satisfying without being overly sweet. The chocolate chip cookie had dark chocolate and was really rich and satisfying. The last pastry I forget the name of but it was like a cinnamon roll but with an orange glaze and some cocoa powder, this one was also delicious and not overly sweet. Drove home 50 minutes away from here expecting all is well. As soon as my daughter opened the box of her goodies, 1 chewy cookie was missing!
