Supersizing enough the manager asked for feedback and gave us a reminder card. I'll start with the good, nice atmosphere. Staff was welcoming and pretty friendly. The restaurant wasn't packed but there were a nice size patrons eating. The food was good. Here where the work or constructive criticism comes in. The host was doing a lot. On his phone, touching various things, also sneezed into his forearm without once ever washing his hands. He then began serving food as a runner to help rest of staff I guess. Hygiene in a restaurant is key. This will kill your business quick fast. As a patron we have nothing else to do, but check out the restaurant the staff while we're waiting for our food and to see this was quite disgusting. Another staff member grab something from the floor went outside a couple of times again no hand washing no sanitizer. The last person I wanted to touch my plate or food was those two. So if you can maybe help your staff understand and change some of there bad hygienic behaviors. Also install some sanitizer stations for your staff to use in a pinch. I hope This feedback helps. We walked in and the staff greeted us immediately. The inside definitely gave a New Orleans vibe. Our waitress was super nice and gave great recommendations on what to try. I had the New Orleans jambalaya which was AMAZING. The flavors were so nice and the sauce on the pasta was tasty. One of my friends had the red beans and rice which she said was the best red beans and rice she's ever tried. The only thing she would change is eliminating the sausage and adding more chicken. This was our very first meal we had on arrival into New Orleans. We happened to walk in off the bustle of Bourbon street and were immediately told to wait in the line outside. Whoops! We waited for about 10-15 minutes before another host came out and asked us if we were waiting for the patio seating upstairs and we said no, we just wanted any table. He said, "Well come on in! You don't have to wait in that line, that's for the balcony seating!" Cool, cool, cool. That other guy definitely did not tell us that. No biggie. Once seated our service was quick and professional. The food was ok. Definitely not the best we had our entire visit, but enough to whet our cajun palate and prepare for the week to come. From helping us pick the best apps, breaking down the drinks to our tastes, and never leaving us to our own devices to cause chaos, this was a great start to our NOLA vacation. This was the worst food I've had in NOLA. Let me add that this is my fifth or sixth times in NOLA so I'm well versed in the it spots. I wanted to try something else less well known and gave mambo a try. Instant regret. The chargrilled oysters didn't have any flavor and was drown in sauce. The Rockefeller was like a spinach dip on your oysters, don't recommend that. I didn't taste any char on the oysters and that's the best part. No Parmesan and no butter on the oysters, came with two slider bread and just no, I need baguette french bread. I also ordered blackened gator tail bites. It was not blackened and it tasted more like fish fillet than gators. I've had gator before. Worst of all was the waitress, she took my appetizer order and never came back to check on me or to take my entree order. I had to flag down other waiters to order entree and check out. After a bit of research, we chose Mambo's for our last dinner in New Orleans and enjoyed it immensely! There are a lot of eateries around Bourbon Street to choose from, but Mambo's stands out. The interior of the restaurant is colorful and classy, and they even offer an outdoor terrace for rooftop dining. Michael, our server, was eager to please and funny to talk to. We had the Gator Tail Bites...offered either blackened or fried, and we chose both! Generous portion and served with a tasty remoulade sauce for dipping. I ordered a dozen oysters, the fried platter, and the Taste of New Orleans platter. This was one of my last meals in New Orleans, and it was a great way to end the trip. It was a perfect representation of the city's cuisine. I highly recommend this as an introductory meal so you can get a little bit of everything and know what to order at other restaurants throughout your trip. The oysters weren't fully separated from the connective tissue, making them a bit difficult to eat, but they were still enjoyable, and I would order them again. I am not stingy with my 5 star ratings. If you're good, you're good. I have to say, I REALLY wanted to give Mambo's a 5 star rating...but I couldn't. The food? 10 stars. My partner and I shared the crawfish poutine and the redfish dinner. I could, quite literally, taste NOLA in every bite. It was SO good! The service? 4 stars. We got no silverware, had to ask the server to take our order, did not get checked on (so I didn't order another drink--you're problem, server!), and had to have our bill fixed. What a mess. The ambiance? It was incredible! It's right on bourbon street, so you could hear and see everything. We loved the action and the life that was teeming from the street. 10 stars. See? That service. Came to New Orleans for a Christmas vacation at the end of last year, and I was in the market for some great food. In my research, I found that Mambo's, right in the heart of Bourbon Street, was one of the more popular places. So I decided to have lunch here. It was a fun little building with giant windows, prime for people watching right there on Bourdon. We got in, got seated, and started ordering. I can't find the oyster dish we started with, which is a good sign to me. Maybe they change their menu periodically. But it was oysters slathered with a creamy, zesty sauce, with a large dollop of jambalaya in the middle. A nice, fun dish that was packed full of flavor and probably exactly what the tourists want to see when they come here. Next was the Duck Wantons (Duck, bacon, & sweet corn wontons stuffed with cream cheese & red peppers. Served with Thai Sweet Chili sauce). These were fun. Very crispy empanada-type things with a little duck, a lot of cream cheese, and a classic sweet chili sauce for dipping. Also fun, no complaints. For the main event, we got a Fried Shrimp Po-Boy (Dressed with tomatoes, pickles, onions, Remoulade and coleslaw). This was far from a traditional po' boy. I'm not gonna get into it, because I don't want to sound pompous, but if you have had po' boys from mom and pop shops away from Bourbon, you'd know. Don't get me wrong, it was perfectly edible and delicious. Then it was time for dessert, the delicious sounding Kentucky Bourbon Pecan Pie (Large buttery pecans, layered on a rich, smooth filling with a hint of kentucky bourbon on a pastry crust). Oh yes, this was it. Super smooth and decadent, great crunch from those pecans, and a tender and flakey crust, oh so delicious. Wow. Overall, this place was pretty good. Loved the roof top seating but need to use bigger tables for party of 4. Music from the street should be NOLA type. Food was what I wanted with NOLA vibe. The special red fish w schrimp a etc. side of mustard greens. I don't have anything to compare but it was good. Doors entering the roof need to keep the glass cleaned. Our server was sweet and efficient Kenny but needs to NOT chew on plastic in his mouth the entire night. My husbands meal was charged $1 more and Kenny didn't know how to correct. The crawfish poutine was really tasty (best dish we ate). We also tried the fish plater and blackened fish. They were nice to switch some of the sides to others so we tried the red bean rice and crawfish etouffe (both very tasty). The down side was the seasoning on the fried items. The batter was under seasoned so we had to get creative to try to add some flavor to it. They might as well throw away the shrimp cocktail sauce and the tarter sauce (they tasted to bad. They honestly had a chemical/artificial flavor to them which ruined anything you put them on). The bread pudding was tasty but I wish they had more raisins in it. Overall we left super puffed from the large portions. They also had reasonable prices and the servers were all nice. Conclusion: large portions, dishes are so so, and service was good. read more

The crab cakes? 7.5/10 I enjoyed it, I thought it was very flavorful and it was probably the highlight of my visit. Fried chicken? 3/10 it was so dry, I don't think we even finished it. Bread pudding? 5.5/10 it was not the kind of bread pudding we were expecting and to each their own but it was drenched in sugar - it was wayyyy too sweet. Shanti was our server and she was nice. She made a few recommendations and was overall accommodating. I showed her the check in offer for a free dessert upon and she was able to get it approved. Lol lowkey really glad she was able. Anyways, we found this place off Yelp and thought we would give it a shot; there was a line outside so it made it look more promising. My partner and I both agreed that if we were inebriated, we'd probably find the food a lot more tasty - know what I mean? Shrug. Would I come back or recommend this spot? Probably not. One our first night in nola, we were walking around and trying to find somewhere to eat. Most places were pretty busy and had a long wait, but Mambo's was able to fit our large group. We ordered a dozen of Mambo's oysters, the fried seafood platter, alligator po boy, and the poutine fries. The Mambo's oysters here are very different from chargrilled oysters / bbq oysters etc. They come with a very thick, creamy, garlickey cajun sauce. They also come with two fat biscuits because you need that much carbs to soak up the rest of the sauce. These oysters were A+, I could probably just have eaten this because it was such a large portion of food. The alligator po boy is huge! The meat was kind of dry but I don't think alligator is that juicey anyways. It also came with a large amount of fries. The seafood platter came with hushpuppies, fried fish, fried oyster, coleslaw and dipping sauce. The poutine fries had the same sauce that the mambos oysters had. Portions here are ridiculously large. One order of food can easily be split between 3 people. We also got the sazerac and the hurrican drink . You can make it a double shot for extra $5. The sazerac drink is very smooth and dangerous. You have to come here if you go to FQ! read more

I'm not sure if it was because we came in on a Thursday before 9 pm but my partner and I sat at the bar and were served by the very attentive bartender (forgot her name, sorry!) . We ordered a fair amount of food and drinks , and my favorite dish was the mambos famous oysters! I would also recommend the specialty drinks instead of the king cake baby drink (it was an overpriced hangover in my opinion). The bartender made an amazing Raquel's favorite and tropical storm drink (pictured below). I would suggest coming here during a slow time for better service. read more
