The idea of this place is interesting but the food isn't anything to write home about. It's a cool little spot. Server was super nice. Coffee was decent. The environment is casual and relaxed. Wanted to like it but the pies were pretty bland. We had a party of 4 and all ordered different desert pies: coconut creme, chocolate creme, banana & pecan. The pie crust is pretty good but the pies themselves were light on flavor. There wasn't much taste to them. The person who ordered the pecan pie liked the filling well enough but not enough to lure us back. At $8/per pie I (sadly) would have recommend finding another spot for desert. read more

Cool place! Was in the area and had been wanting to check it out. It was hard to choose what to get. I was going to get a mocha latte but their espresso machine was broken so I got a chai latte instead with almond milk, very good! I got a frozen vegan red thai curry pot pie to heat up in the oven at home. I have to say, that was the only disappointing thing. It was weirdly sweet, no texture at all except mush and the crust. It tasted nothing like red Thai curry. I also got a peanut butter mini pie which was super delicious and I will totally be back to try other mini pies. We stop in every couple of months and load up on the small frozen chicken pot pies and a couple of dessert pies. They are all so good! Honestly the best pies I've ever tasted. I grew up on homemade pecan pie and mamma Toledo's is the best (pls don't tell my mom). Also the brown sugar peach is omg. Service is always friendly. We always overbuy and they never disappoint. We spent $35 on four mini pies. Triple chocolate has the worst texture. Peanut butter chocolate had zero flavor and no sweetness at all. Key lime was full of artificial flavor and sweeteners to the point of a terrible aftertaste. Lemon meringue has almost a film on the meringue like pudding gets when you cook it on the stovetop. Very unassuming location. Walked in to a very warm welcome. Wanted pie... didn't realize they had savory pies as well. After we decided on one small pie of banana cream and one slice of coconut cream. Came home and devoured. 2 things.... One.... for almost $5 a slice it should be a tad bigger. My slice of coconut was quiet small... and just not enough whipped topping. ( which was delicious). Two.... theming pie was okay... but too much crust. And not enough cream. Over all a cute place... I have been meaning to try this place since seeing it on the news a few months ago. Only a few whole pies on hand for sale. So if you're looking for a particular pie you have to call in advance. I ordered 2 small pies I believe 7.50 apiece and a green Chile biscuit. Everything is made from scratch also. The place is not really set up for indoor dining, just a small counter at the entrance. I have only had the Green Chili pot pie and the Beef Stew pot pie form Mamma's and they were great. You get quality ingredients and a nice personal portion size for a fair price. I took mine camping and cooked them over a open fire in a dutch oven. They turned out amazing. I will definitely visiting Mamma again. read more

It's a very rare occurrence that you find a beautiful and successful pie shop in these times but here we are! I've been frequenting pie hole off and on for years and there is something so special about walking in time after time and seeing an owner often humming along in the kitchen living their dream and uplifting young bakers around them. The banana cream pie is literally perfect, the creme on top was perfectly unsweet to balance the sweet yellow center which was beautifully set. The rhubarb pie reminds me vividly of making one with my mother as a child in Alaska when rhubarb hits season. The crust on both the chicken pot pie, and pie crusts were perfect. Flaky, buttery, and thick. I've loved seeing the subtle improvements made to different parts of the menu and pies over the years it shows a level of care and attention that people just don't do anymore. I've spent some of my favorite holidays with loved ones now passed in front of your pies with a coffee, late nights in front of the fridge gobbling leftovers and sitting in a car with a green Chile burrito that got me through an awful Thursday. It's exciting and inspiring especially for women to see the possibility of growing dreams. Anytime I've ever seen the owner whether at the coffee shop nextdoor stocking pies or in her business she has a warmth that is admirable and a quiet courage. Baking is complicated, and very difficult to hone especially with pies. The expansion of the shop is beautiful and intentional, with endless possibilities. Had the great idea to get a pie for Father's Day. Apparently, so did everyone else as they only had four regular sized pies and about ten mini pies left when we got there at Noon. We opted for three mini pies for a variety. The lemon Meringue was good, I thought it could have a little more lemon flavor. The key lime was amazing, tart, creamy and the crust was divine. The triple chocolate was good, creamy, layers of chocolate with a cookie crust, and although I am always about everything chocolate, the key lime pie was my favorite. Finally got the chance to check this place out. It was a road trip worth planning for since it's about 40 min away from where I live. Honestly, I love its location - right next to a gas station in an unpretentious little complex, a little run down on the outside but cute, trendy, and rustic on the inside. Mamma Toledo herself is very down to earth and makes you feel right at home. She takes a lot of pride in her pies, and I don't blame her! I tried the coconut cream and chocolate cream pies. Although I wish the whipped cream extended to the rim of the pie (would help the exposed area from drying out), I still believe this place is a 5 star shot. Pies are well priced ($4.25/slice of the cream pies), the crust is one of the best I've had - super flakey and holds its shape even after sitting under all that custard - and the filling is silky smooth. Initially came for the coconut, but was actually blwon away by the chocolate cream. I loved how it was a darker base, leaving those bittersweet undertones. Many chocolate cream pies are either too pudding like or too sweet, but this one is beautifully made. Would even come back just for this one. Also fyi, they have a rewards program! Hands down , this is the best I have had in Arizona. Maybe even in the entire country. And I have had a lot of pie in my life. I ordered 11 distinct pies for a school function and got to try very single flavor. Each one was uniquely delicious and each theme made my taste buds sing. What they all have in common was a perfect buttery crust and a subtle sweetness that did not overpower the pie -- even high end bakeries are way to sweet that you loose the highlighted flavor of the pie. If I could I would eat Mama Toledoe's pies for breakfast lunch and dinner, but I can't afford to buy a new wardrobe! Go try a slice for your self and you will see what I mean! read more

I've loved this shop for years! We've enjoyed so many pies: apple, chocolate-pecan, chocolate-chocolate, chocolate-peanut butter, lemon. I love that the regular pie crust has a saltiness to it - it helps cut through the sweetness of the fillings and amps up the other flavors. Pre-pandemic we'd often buy pie by the slice. The peach & key lime mini pies were great. The peaches were plentiful & the Key lime pie with the ginger snap crust was the bomb.

I'm not a pie fanatic but occasionally I do like to dabble. Seeing this place I immediately knew I needed to stop in and check it out. Plus, who doesn't love trying out somewhere new? Upon walking in, you immediately see some larger pies and small mini pies. They had ice cream to the left as well as a coffee menu and breakfast menu to the right. I also noticed they had ice cream x pie shake options. Kind of a cool deal. It's a smaller seating area but it's decorated black and red and is a cute little spot. We decided to get several mini pies to bring home so we could sample a bit of everything. It was a little overboard but I didn't want to try just one kind! Ended up trying... Key Lime: it's been years since I tried key lime but it lived up to what I remembered. Just enough tart without being too much. Not bad. Apple Crumble: this one was pretty good. The crumble was hard enough and the flavors were great. Warmed up with some ice cream and you'd be in business. Pecan: not bad. The pecans are large and you definitely get the homemade feel but it was almost a little too rich for me. Hard to explain but overall solid. Triple Chocolate: with Oreo crust on the bottom and the chocolate pudding taking over it's a pretty nice treat. Definitely on the super soft side though and gets messy quick. Peanut Butter Chocolate: I absolutely hate the fake peanut butter flavor that's too sweet and ruins some pies. This PB was solid in the sense that it wasn't too sweet, but the chocolate almost wasn't sweet enough. Could have balanced a little better but was a fan since it wasn't overkill. While they were all decent, and I'm glad we got to try a variety, I'm not sure if any of them will be finished in the coming days. Overall the mini pies are nice treats and the service was very friendly. I'd stop in if you are in the area and need a pie or something small to bring someone but I can't say it rocked my world. I was recommended this place by a friend. Stopped on a weekend and grabbed their 5" mini pies in lemon meringue and peach. I was really excited about this place but I was disappointed at the quality of pies. The meringue was a little over done, and the crust was pretty hard. The peach was better, but the crumble topping was also a little overdone. We were told the peanut butter pie was one of the best - and we probably should have listened. Still on the hunt for a great bakery in the valley. On a positive note - the service was pretty good and they provided recommendations on customer favorites. read more

I guess I would probably give this place a 3 but for phoenix its a 3.5 since I havent been too impressed with the food in AZ. I walked into this little hole in the wall bakery and didn't notice a sweet smell like you do in normal bakeries. But their pies and pastries looked pretty delicious and somewhat fresh even at around 6 in the evening. I ordered a small pecan pie and a chocolate chip cookie brownie that sounded fantastic. I ended up starting the cookie brownie on my drive back to the hotel. It was so sweet and delicious but it actually hurt my teeth. I have never had so much sugar in my life in one pastry which caused me to only eat half of it before throwing it away and also took 3 days just to get through half. the pecan pie was ok, I had half and threw it away as it was somewhat dry. My first experience here and NOT great. Right when you walk in you get hit with sewer smell and it was nasty. They had a wide selection of pies by the slice. Ordered the lemon and peach. The lemon was terrible - epic fail. The crust was so hard it broke the plastic fork they provided! The lemon curd was grainy/gritty with NO flavor - how does a lemon pie not taste tangy? The best lemon curd is at Trader Joes! The peach was pretty good although the crust was so HARD again we broke the plastic fork. I think it's fair to say I wont be returning. read more

I was already in the little strip mall for a different business when I suddenly heard a strange voice whispering "pie", "pie", "pie". My inner radar immediately sent me into the Pie Hole and deposited me in front of a key lime pie (which just happens to be my favorite). On a hot day, a creamy key lime pie with the perfect balance of sweet and tart is the perfect dessert. In fact, it's so good that you hardly notice you're having leftovers (again!). I took a couple of these pies to my offices today. It's a really cool pie shop in Phoenix. They also have green chili, chicken, and a couple other pot pies. You can order those frozen as well. The individual pies are $6.50 a piece and are big enough to feed two people. The people were really nice and friendly when I called to inquire about pies and pricing. The person I talked to even set the last banana cream pie to the side for me to be safe. read more
