It was a fun night! The service was welcoming from the time we pulled into the parking lot! The "tournament" was very entertaining and be prepared to cheer for your knight! The food was good, it was seasoned. There was a variety of soft drinks, with a refill if needed. Each course was eaten by hand, but you do get a napkin and a wet wipe too. We were served a mini eclair and a square of cake with sprinkles. We were even offered strong coffee at the end. They served it with a couple of packets of creamer and a couple of sweet n low. Fanfrickentastic! Worth every penny. I purchased just the basic dinner and show on their website. When we arrived there was tons of free parking. There was a line around the block. Since we only had a party of 4 they let us go to the front of the line. They were even nice enough to upgrade our seats to a VIP section. The show was so fun, our kids had an absolute blast. Being able to scream and eat with their hands was a complete dream lol. Our waitress Sammy was so awesome and attentive during the whole show! This whole experience was so much fun! My partner and I decided on a whim that we would go to Medieval Times, because who doesn't want to root for a preassigned knight to beat other knights in fun little obstacles? It was both of our first time there, and we literally had no idea what to expect. What I will say is the entire experience is pretty fun and well curated, from the moment you redeem your tickets, to when you leave. I love how in-character a lot of the staff were. It was pretty fun to be called m'lady! There were a handful of attendees who dressed up, and I kind of wish I did too. We paid about $70pp, which included a four-course meal and the show. The show itself? Super entertaining when your knight's on the field, a little boring when he wasn't. The whole show ran about two hours, and was pretty interesting overall. During the show, you're served your meals with just a plate and a bowl, so you're eating out of it like in the medieval times. The meal we had was bread, tomato soup, a giant chicken thigh/leg, potato, corn, and enclair for dessert. Soda's also included, and you can grab some boozy slushies too. Food was filling, but probably not the tastiest thing. But hey, you're not there for quality, it's definitely quantity and the entertainment. Our server, Larry, was phenomenal! He truly added to the whole experience, and the barkeep in the yellow section was awesome! The actors did a great job with the show. My favorite was the jousting competition, but to be honest the entire show was spectacular. Get there early because the lines can be pretty long to get inside. There's parking on the property but I took an uber there so I'm not sure if parking is free. Came to Medieval Times for the first time with the SO for a belated birthday celebration for him. We had so much fun and memories were made. The standard basic ticket includes a full meal and a show put on by the best crew and animals. Check their IG and website as sometimes they have 15% off deals. I got the basic package but tacked on a surprise knighting ceremony for the SO's birthday lmao. You get the physical knight ceremony part, a free souvenir from a selection of knick-knacks (light up battle axe, tiara, light up sword, etc.), an announcement by the king during dinner, and a picture keepsake. I think this was totally worth it (+$39 at time of review). Once you check-in at the ticket counter, you're waved over to another building where you're assigned your crown color. There is a little courtyard with outdoor seating that leads into another building that houses the main entertainment (fully stocked bar with slushies, multiple souvenir counters, knighting area, plus a window to view the horses in their stables!). The main arena is indoors and has running A/C so you're not sweating or smelling stinky animal dander. We ended up purchasing a few alcoholic drinks while waiting for the main show to start. You're upsold fancier drink receptacles (like a stein or glass beer mug). Ottis was our server and he was awesome! Personable, got jokes, and always there if we needed anything. The food is actually really delicious. Each item came out in waves due to the server having to plop a piece on each of their section's guest's plates. I wanted to take a pic of everything once it had all arrived, so I will admit some of the food cooled down by the time I ate. STILL, very flavorful and delicious. We had: Toasted garlic bread - looked like Texas toast with some garlic flavoring. Was crispy crunchy yummy. Tomato bisque (dragon's blood) - came out steaming from a thermos and remained warm through most of dinner. Creamy and was a great dipper for the garlic bread and chicken. Roasted chicken - I'm surprised we were served a half chicken (wing, thigh, drum, breast). Seasoned generously and juicy/not dry at all. Buttered corn - juicy and did not get any kernels stuck in my teeth lol Herb roasted potato - this was a baked half potato completely covered in the same seasoning as the chicken. Soft and delicious Apple turnover - warm but definitely felt like it came from Porto's next door. Not complaining though haha The show itself was so cool. There were segments that show pony prancing, falconry, and of course the super exciting joust/duels. I loved how sections of the audience are tied with a certain knight and allies that we cheered (and enemies we boo'd) for based on our crown color. It really kept the show hype and I found myself getting into it. Fortunately for us, our blue knight won so the show was even MORE hype. The first thing you notice is how well they move the crowd to assigned seating areas based on your status as a VIP or just an ordinary person. Some will be eating dinner and they all sit together. Some areas are considered better views and pay more. Once seated you will be instructed how to place your mug to receive soda or whatever you will drink. The food comes stage by stage, bread and soup first, then a full chicken, then corn on the cob, potato and ending with pudding eclair. There are plenty of things to buy souvenir wise with vendors roaming and selling. After the food, the server comes by with the expectation of a tip based on your ticket price. The show has six to eight horses in a ring surrounded by spectators most times. Some of whom are eating. The show has horses that are nice looking doing various tricks they have been taught. Some fighting is simulated. It is as loud as a nightclub sound system, measured at 85 dB at my table, with music, announcements, and audio of the actors very audible. There are no bad seats anywhere so don't pay extra for a better location, they are all great. The food is served without flatware, you eat with bare hands a big old chicken. It depends on how you take tearing down a chicken and eating with your hands just how much fun you think it is. Some might find watching the action while eating great, others might find it a distraction; the server had to scream at the top of her lungs as did the customers to reply. It was not as much fun as you might think having course after course being delivered. The seating is somewhat smaller leg room wise than cheap airline seats, you can't get up or move, just sit there with cramped legs for two hours. They present a show, a dinner, an experience. If you love horse shows, actors, and storyline, you will probably like it. Others may find it an expensive waste of time. Okay this was so much FUN for ALL AGE GROUPS AND CELEBRATIONS!!!!! I went with my gf's (3 of us) and we had an absolute blast. We were given VIP lanyards and guided through the castle and everyone was in character from check in to bartenders to security. I LOVED IT!! The bartender was hilarious and made us laugh so much and we got some pretty yummy drinks and got to keep the cup! We bought fake jewelry for only $6!!!! A steal! We were sat in front row and loved every second of it. The food was delicious (I was worried about this one) but the chicken was huge and well seasoned and cook thoroughly. I went here this past Saturday for a friends bday. Got seated relatively easy and they were able to accomodate 2 people who bought tickets late and got them upgraded to the rest of the group since the original set bought upgraded tickets. They asked for allergens there and told someone in the group allergic to pistachios and peanuts to avoid the bread as it had peanuts. However, when we sat and got the bread, they said there weren't any peanuts in the bread. Confusing so we just avoided that all together The food was subpar. If you're hungry I'd go elsewhere because it's simply just 1 choice for Chicken, Bread, Tomato Soup, Eclaire desert and it is really MEH. Honestly if we coulda got tickets without the food, I would've done that and gotten better food somewhere else. Also the drink server, who was separate from the server, came around just once. In the entire show we just had 1 drink and that service was subpar. You'll have to go outside to the bar to get more. Also you're kinda rushed to eat the food and whatnot - they wasted no time trying to clean and collect for their next performance. Lastly, it is funnily ironic that on your way out you have like 10 bartenders all trying to huck you drinks before you leave vs when you come in. The performance was pretty good, but the introduction was way too long and not enough actual jousting/games. Love coming here every year to celebrate our birthdays. Rarely does our knight win but its a fun experience still. Inside is a cool medieval theme, clean and well stocked. The food is tasty. First course is garlic bread and tomato soup. Then comes the half chicken, potatoe and corn. The seasoning is usually good and the chicken was hot and juicy this time. My kids have been asking to go, and I mean, who doesn't enjoy the fun and magic that is Medieval Times??!? :) The food was good, they give a good portion of chicken that was seasoned and cooked proper along with soup, bread, a seasoned/baked half potato, corn, and a dessert. I'm bummed that the big scone that they used to give has been reduced to a mini eclair, but otherwise the food was ample and my kids enjoyed it. Food aside, the show and the ambiance is what you're showing up for, and on this front they did not disappoint. They stayed in character the entire time, particularly the lady pouring the drinks with her heavy Mexican accent. Loved it. Absolute pros. The show itself? The actors and choreography were shockingly better than some big budget movies. Swords were swinging, horses were horsing, and it all sounded like Shakespeare wrote a Netflix documentary - I think there was a story of some sort about the Queen? ONE EXCEPTION was the Yellow Knight. That dude was so off I think he was fighting to a completely different soundtrack. It was pretty funny. Our knight got eliminated in a way that suggested he had dinner reservations after the show. My girlfriend was more bloodthirsty when the grocery store ran out of Rocky Road last week. I was assigned the Green Knight and was a bit disappointed but that quickly turned around when I realized what an absolute legend he was. Medieval Times in Buena Park, California and a great spot for dinner and show! We were visiting California for a convention and decided to do Medieval Times for one of the nights for a fun little dinner. I haven't been to this place since I was in elementary school when we took a field trip to Orlando so it was fun doing it again and in another state. It was very similar to what I remember and such a fun experience from start to finish. When you fall in line at the beginning of the show, you get assigned a knight to cheer for and the area you're seated in. We were able to go inside and seated after walking through the "castle". Once seated, we were able to order some drinks (alcohol was not included in the dinner and show ticket) and everything moved pretty fast once the show started. There are A LOT of birthdays celebrated here and they make sure to make all of them feel special by announcing their names at the beginning but I do warn, it can get super long. The show itself was great and I'm am now two for two of having a knight that wins! The show was great and super engaging! we'll start off with the basics. i've been a resident of orange county my whole life and only ever crossed paths with medieval times when i was driving towards knotts. safe to say i've been curious but didn't have the privilege of ever visiting. my boyfriend's best friend got tickets for his birthday and it was an EXPERIENCE. from start to finish, it was wonderful. we had VIP passes, so we got to take amazing pictures and enjoy the lively atmosphere. not to mention, the acting of all those that partook in the show was phenomenal and the staff was exceptional. very attentive, very sweet. the food was also wonderful. we pretty much had a three course meal and i couldn't even finish. thank god for leftovers. the point of my review, however, is solely based on the customer service. so like the lightweight genius i am, i got a little too lit and ended up forgetting my wallet at medieval times. it took me a week to get it, but that's because medieval times doesn't operate under the same hours as every other place of business. it's based solely on shows, and it doesn't help that when you call the customer hotline, you end up getting someone whose in a different state, in a different timezone. it's frustrating, which is why i knocked down a star. because it's SO hard to just get someone to pick up. and if you're an anxiety-riddled introvert like me, who doesn't know that when you roll up to medieval times you can find customer service around the side of the building, then you'll be a little thrown off your game. safe to say, this is a touristy type of location that, for locals, might only appeal to them if it's up their alley. definitely want to come back all dressed up for the occasion. read more

I've been here a few times as a child and have also returned as an adult with my own child, and overall the experience has always been memorable. We loved the photos, the food, the show, and the overall atmosphere. On one visit we chose front-row seats and were able to interact more with the knights, which made it even more exciting. The only reason for the four stars is that during our most recent visit, there were people on strike and picketing with concerns about animal cruelty. I had never noticed anything concerning during previous visits, and the animals appeared okay overall, but the excessive drooling or foaming did make us feel a bit sad. I can't say whether the claims were accurate, but I truly hope they weren't, as Medieval Times has always been a favorite for my husband and me, compared to Pirates. We brought my daughter her with my in laws yesterday and I have to say, it was so worth it! I remember that I went to something like this as a kid but I didn't remember details. The price seemed a bit high at first but after the show I realized it was very reasonable for two hours of wonderful entertainment and not totally awful food. I felt the chicken was better than Costco, but I didn't care for the soup, sides, or dessert much: I don't understand why they serve eclairs when there are probably better choices for similar prices of equal authenticity. The service was friendly and the drink price for coming with a novelty cup to keep was not bad. The layout was super confusing for us, having never been there before, but they have it all down and you are in good hands. We enjoyed looking at the horses and souvenirs etc before the show. The horses and falcon and events were all impressive and I thoroughly enjoyed it; even if sometimes the falls and drama were obviously fake there were plenty of truly impressive things to make the show engaging for adults as well as kids. We arrived 20 minutes early with lots of people waiting to get in, and the entrance went by fast. When you're assigned by the color of your fighting knight. The food is simple, Chicken with a small half-baked Potato, small corn, and a small piece do garlic bread which overall was just ok. Don't expect to have a great meal here it's what it is, not the best. For Dessert a small piece of frozen Eclair, not good. Must say food can be improved greatly and served at the proper temperature. Now the show, was amazing, from start to finish a must-see. My Favorite was the Falcon that flew around the seating area was amazing, well all the performances were amazing. Medieval Times Buena Park is a good time. Fun for birthdays and special events. A few things to consider. Arrive early to park and wait in line for check in. This will give you time to take photos and grab a drink (or two) at the bar. Once seater the servers are pretty on top of everything from drinks to food to refills and so on. I've been maybe 6-7 times over the years and it's usually good except for the one time I was sat in the back by a pole and near the staff area near the doors. That was no fun and distracting so beware of these shotty seats. The food is surprisingly good! I enjoy the chicken and potatoes even the tomato soup. Fun entertainment for the whole family!! It's a bit a ways from where I live, but it was a great outing opportunity with friends. If you want to sit together with a group larger than 5, you will have to call them and make a group reservation. The good thing is that you don't have to pay all the tickets up front- you can pay your own ticket get your order number and have your guests call in to pay thier ticket with the same order number! There is free and ample parking on site, and the lines were dense, but efficient! We came in and was asked for my name and party count - one was still on thier way, but we were told that they could go up front and let them know my order number and name of the reservation to go in. Went ahead and got our seating arrangements and seating area and given our 'crowns' as we headed inside. There's a quint courtyard and into the 'knight club' we went. There, families were having thier children knighted by the shows king and queen, purchasing medieval relevant items like swords and shields, restrooms, and the horses where in holding stalls for viewing! Soon a horn was blown and our attention was turned toward entering the arena. We were quickly seated and out last party member arrived inside with no issues right before showtime! The show was an overall grand spectacle and it was more fun than I remembered! The knights were fun to watch and the gladiator style of weapons combat were my favorite parts! Alas, our knight did lose and even lost again in an act of betrayal by another knightly antagonist. The joust was an additional highlight, as we hooted and hollered as the knights faced off with wooden spears splintering and crowed cheered! The portions were generous with plenty of chicken, corn, and half a roasted potato. The soup and bread appetizer wasn't anything special, and the dessert eclair was not good. We were given to go boxes and I had nearly another meal afterwards for the next day. After the shows concluded, the knights were in the knight club area to take pictures and chat with guests. We got a fun group picture and I got to fist bump our champion (even if he didn't win, we was still the champion in our hearts). Fun family theater! It was our first time here & we had a wonderful experience. My little girl was having a bit of a meltdown upon our arrival, but the staff was very patient taking our group photo & that was much appreciated. We were quickly seated & the whole group was caught up in the story, tricks, & jousting! We enjoyed the food & the service. Everything was like clockwork. Food was hot & tasty. We even got photos with our jouster afterwards & my daughter was delighted with her light up axe. Only downside was the volume of the music - too loud for most kids & can garble the speaker's voice. On the upside, ample parking. Huzzah! read more
