This is now my go-to place whenever I'm in Mountain View and their Red Lentil Soup is now my comfort side dish for every season. I have it with a wide variety of entrees, ranging from the Chicken Shawarma Plate to the Vegetarian Okra Plate. The wait time is very short and the portions are often big enough for lunch and dinner. Just stopped by this restaurant and the guy who helped me was AMAZING (might be the owner). The level of service during these COVID times speaks volumes about the guest service value that this joint shares. The restaurant in itself is pretty awesome. Just opened up the food and the smell in itself wanted me to write a review, though I barely do. Taste is also exceptional. My favorite was the chicken Sharwa plate (very flavorful) and the falafels. Family also enjoyed the chicken kabob plate and the gyros. Overall, amazing food, amazing service, and amazing experience overall. I am a huge fan of Mediterranean food and have tried many different places. I got the chicken kebab plate with hummus and cucumber tomato salad. My partner got the lamb and beef wrap. 1. Chicken Kebab Plate: The chicken was overcooked and very tough to eat. It looked like it had flavor since the color was vibrant but it was extremely plain. The cucumber salad seemed old and soggy, as if it were sitting in the dressing for too long. The dressing was watered down as well. However, I felt hopeful that the hummus and pita bread could still save my hungry tummy, but it was very watery and lacked so much nutty flavor! The pita bread also tasted like soft plain pizza dough. I did not finish my food after the 2nd bite. 2. Lamb and Beef Wrap: I'm not sure if the restaurant was going for a burrito type wrap, but I did expect it to be more Mediterranean inspired. It honestly looked like a Carne Asada burrito with lettuce and meat inside. It also lacked flavor unfortunately. The hot chili sauce here was really good though, it helped the burrito have more flavor (uh oh, I typed that subconsciously because of the flour tortilla they used as the wrap). Hopefully this review helps others who prefer this cuisine to be authentic, and that it also helps the restaurant owners/chefs switch up a few things to make it more delicious to customers too :) read more

Solid spot for lunch on Castro. I come here at least 2 times a week because the food here is good and consistent. The lamb kebobs are really good and the falafel are lightly fried and crispy. The owner and the people who work here are very nice and accomodating and run a really nice mom and pop shop here. read more

Ordered beef+lamb plate. Only received beef and was not a huge fan of it as it was dry and not very flavorful. The pita+hummus was good and generously portioned. Also enjoyed the cucumber salad. Fast service Yellow rice and or more seasoned beef would have made this perfect. read more

The food was delicious and the portions were generous. We will definitely go back when we are in the Mountain View area and in the mood for Mediterranean food. I got the chicken kabob plate which came with rice and hummus as well as the tender, juicy chicken. My adult son got the beef wrap it was pretty huge. He could barely finish it. OMG tonight was the night that my sisters, my girlfriend, and my cousin tried this place! It was wonderful! 5 stars period. I came in believing it was just going to be decent food, but it was better!! It was not only great service, but REALLY TIDY all around! They had 4-5 chefs or cooks and a great manager who chit chatted with us about cultural food from around the world. I used to go to the Gyro House, the other mom/pop Mediterranean deli, but this one is much cleaner and spacious I noticed. Seems like a good place for a quick lunch or dinner while traffic time. My friend and I were the only ones eating at 5 p.m. early traffic time and we had a heated conversation by ourselves. I looked like I wanted to leave and started covering my wrap with the left over aluminum foil and the chef just voila busted it out for me! I didn't even have to get out of my seat! The absolute best and freshest food in the Bay. I've been coming here for years. I've lived all over the Bay and am happy to be back in the South Bay to enjoy Mediterranean Grill House more often. You can tell they put love and the best ingredients into their food. Their hummus is incredible and so is their baba ghanoush. Meat and fish are cooked perfectly and are fresh. Vegetarian plates are so filling and delicious. The lady who takes our order is so sweet and so is the rest of the staff. I live next door and this place is a great gem. Parking is much easier than the other end of Castro, but I walk. It is a great choice if you don't want to wait and are looking for great flavors. I personally like this more than Oren's and it is faster/cheaper than Cafe Baklava. There are many wonderfully seasoned meats and their rice is always great. The same menu is posted for dinner and lunch, so don't be surprised at some higher prices for protein heavy dinner plates if you are stopping in for lunch, check out the wraps that are a small lunch size. They go over the top for catering. When covid is over I'm looking forward to having more of this at the office. read more

Great experience at the Mediterranean Grill! Started off with friendly help at the ordering counter to find the best vegan options. They were happy to even offer substitutions to make a vegan friendly veggie platter. They also checked ingredients for me to make sure they were ok! They let my omnivore lunch companion know in advance that the kabobs take more time to cook in case we needed to go quickly (which we did) which was much appreciated! The food on arrival (which was lightning fast) was warm and delicious! Perfect falafel, super crispy outside and moist inside, and creamy smooth and delicious hummus! Plenty of nice outdoor seating with umbrellas. Super nice service and delicious and reasonably priced food, it really doesn't get better than that! read more

I ordered a falafel wrap with eggplant to go. When I got home to eat it, I found that they had not included the eggplant. I called the restaurant and they said to come back another time and they'd make it right, maybe even give me a comp'd wrap Well, I came back today and explained what happened last time and they charged me for the full wrap, including the eggplant! My friend and I happened upon this restaurant and what a joy it was. The staff were very helpful. The food was excellent. I had a chicken plate that had wonderfully seasoned chicken over a lightly seasoned rice, a cucumber, onion, bell pepper and tomato salad that was fresh and crispy and hummus and pita that was smooth and substantial. We sat outside and can't think of anything that could have been better. I wish we lived closer so we could make this place one of our favorites. We used to either eat here or order out a lot pre pandemic, but haven't ventured out all that much since the start of it and are only now getting back into enjoying restaurant food. It's so nice to discover that the quality and quantity of the food has not diminished since the pandemic, as it has at other previously tried and true restaurants we've looked forward to being able to order from and have been disappointed by. We ordered take out shawerma plates, as well as a large order of baba grannuj, and some lentil soup. It's just as good as we remembered it, which is saying something because we love their food! What a lovely surprise, as that hasn't been the case for a number of our pre-pandemic favorites. Their buttery basmati rice, the deliciously seasoned chicken, the smokey baba gannuhj, and the comforting lentil soup, all just wonderful.
