This is my favorite Thai place in LA. It's right near my house so i can walk there and it's definitely a hidden gem. Very laid back atmosphere inside - always surprisingly great music playing too. Some recommendations: Green curry (i get steamed tofu - so good), pad thai, tom kar goong soup (this soup is absolutely amazing), seafood noodles, papaya salad, tofu salad, dumpling appetizer. the only thing i would not recommend is Paul's Special. it wasn't flavorful enough. try some of their thai beers as well - really yummy. read more

Sorry, but this place is such a disappointment. Here is what we ordered Seafood soup, nothing special about it at all, the broth was lacking that umph factor. Duck Salad, duck was crispy alright, to a point whereas the owner knows and I know that he over fried the duck, once again, nothing to positive to say Pineapple fried rice with shrimp - first off, the fried rice was wet and the canned pineapple was added last when making the dish because you could tell it wasn't as hot temperature wise as the rest of the dish. The shrimp had an off taste to it, like it was about to go bad. Thai BBQ chicken - it was actually very moist, flavors were decent. This is why this place picked up a star. I have to love a Thai place that I can walk to from my place plus the food is delicious, the portions are huge and the price is reasonable. Two people can split an appetizer and an entree even if one of them is a big eater like my husband. I love the rice with shrimp and pineapple. The chicken sate is yummy as well. Some day soon I have to try the duck. The staff is friendly and remembers your face. I can't speak to the parking and have yet to try their delivery service. read more

The yellow curry had amazing flavor! The vegetables weren't quite done, but it could be that we were there right at noon for a pretty early lunch. The décor is minimalist and needs refreshing, a coat of paint (or three) wouldn't hurt and the utensils need updating as well. That said, the food was surprisingly authentic and flavorful without being overwhelming, the service pleasant and the prices very reasonable. I came here only based on the high reviews on Yelp but it was a major let down. The flavoring was standard and the ingredients did not taste fresh. My boyfriend got the red curry and he barely even touched it. I got a "special" pad see ew and it was bland. They give you a hefty portion but it looks like it was dumped on the plate. I love thai food and this was good, I ordered the pad thai as usual and it came with a salad and an eggroll. I'm so disappointed with this place. I decided to try it after just moving to the area and hearing great things about it. We ordered for delivery; vegetable yellow curry, steamed white rice, a lunch special spicy basil noodles with with chicken, and a coconut soup with chicken. I specified a mushroom allergy for every item in the order, and one of the people I ordered for is a vegan that is highly allergic to mushrooms. There were mushrooms in both the curry and the soup, and the soup had an extreme amount of chicken in it, with absolutely no vegetables. The spicy basil noodles had no chicken. I find it unacceptable that a place that prides themselves on their vegan options, would purposely place chicken in a vegetarian curry. Every single item we ordered was incorrect except the steamed white rice. I am extremely disappointed as I wasted $45 on food that was inedible for every person in our party. read more

I love this place because a) it has really delicious Thai food that doesn't taste generic, and b) it has a nice family-owned atmosphere. Melanee is underwhelming. I ordered the green curry, which is listed as one of its most popular dishes (not sure why). It was 90% watery curry with a few pieces of eggplant and chicken. I ordered delivery last night and Melanee Thai is now my favorite Thai restaurant! First of all, I was impressed by the website because it features a bio of the chef, Paul, listing his family history and how his relationship with his mother influences his cooking. Also, there is a page with Thai Recipes & Food Creations that I can't wait to try for myself. After reading all about Melanee and Paul, I called to see if they delivered, which they do, for a minimum charge (dependent on how far away you live from them.) I ordered David's Special, which is one of the most delicious meals I've ever tasted! I also got the Tom Yum soup with vegetables, which was very nice. Their delivery person was prompt and friendly. Absolutely best Pad Thai I have ever eaten!! The Ginger sauce for our salad was light, but wonderful. The steamed dumplings and sauce were delicious and the brown rice perfectly cooked. The owner was our server and he takes pleasure and pride in his dishes. It was not busy at all and literally right around the corner from our hotel, Residence Inn. I loveeeeeee this Thai gem!!! Omg! Their spicy fried rice with basil is so delicious. You can add chicken, beef, shrimp, pork to the basil fried rice. My friend and I or my boss and I try to pay melanee Thai a visit for lunch and with out fail they are absolutely amazing. The appi's are really good :) Every plate served is made upon ordering. Dont waste your money!! I ordered the chicken larb, tom yum soup, spicy chicken with noodle soup, and spicy tofu salad through eat24. All of it was horrible! The larb was dry and bland, both soups were horrible and had a sweet taste instead of spicy, and the spicy tofu salad was even worse! This place had no people in it, the server was inattentive, and the decor was nonexistent. One thing that left an impression on me was the portion size, it was big! Something I definitely did not mind because the food was delicious. I had the Pad See Ew while my friend had the Yellow Curry. Both of us eat a lot and neither of us could finish. Our waiter was super nice and chill, helpful, and great timing. This is by far the best Thai place in my area. The pad Thai is awesome along with BBQ chicken, the garlic chicken and the egg rolls. I am not the biggest fan of their fried rice. Its a little on the mushy side but everything else is pretty freaking good!! The delivery is very quick and the dine in experience is always top notch. I highly recommend this place! read more

First time here love bug took me for my birthday on a Sunday place was quiet a few people dinning was a little skeptical when I walked in due to the old old decor. I ordered the lightly fried fish with chilli sauce and rice it was just what I wanted and needed it I love love love spicy food it was spicy and delicious the waiter also brought to my table a spicy tofu stir fry and said happy birthday this dish made for you. I've never eaten tofu even though I'm a vegetarian and I must say it was delicious and I loved the fact they took time to make something special and for free for my birthday. If you check into yelp you get 10% off your bill I didn't flash my coupon reason being I was given a free dish for my bay no sense in being greedy. Delicious food! I ordered the Toms curry chicken and veggies and it is a huge portion, so many veggies and delicious sauce. The wide rice noodles are silky and smooth. I also ordered the chicken and veggie wonton soup. The broth is clear and flavorful! So many veggies and the wontons are stuffed with meat. They are friendly and very nice. He stumbled on this place, 4 stars and over 90 reviews - we figured we might as well try. We ordered Pad Thai and the BBQ Chicken and wow!!
