Was staying at the Hyatt next door and wanted some pizza for lunch. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza and absolutely LOVED it. The crust was the perfect level of soft and crispy. The sauce is nice and rich, and tons of cheese despite not ordering extra cheese. My wife and I loved it so much we went back before we left and got their Great White pizza, also AMAZING if you like a white pizza with ricotta. I've been to Mellow Mushrooms in several states, so I knew their pizzas were delicious and good quality across the board. The Virginia Beach location's food was no exception! My favorite MM pizza is their Red Skin Potato Pie. Basically, it's like a loaded baked potato, the menu describes it as: Olive Oil and Garlic base pizza loaded with Red Potato, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Caramelized Onions, Cheddar and Mozzarella cheeses, sprinkled with Chives and drizzled with Sour Cream and spicy Ranch dressing. This pizza is AMAZING. I first had it at the Richmond location, but when I went to the Myrtle Beach Mellow Mushroom, they said it was discontinued. I was disheartened when I didn't see it on the VB menu online, but to my surprise when I looked at the menu at the actual restaurant, they had it! I was embarrassingly thrilled when I saw it on the menu, lol. One of the smaller pizzas can easily be shared between two people (depending on how hungry you are), or you can take a couple of slices home if you get too full. I will definitely be back, especially in the summer so I can enjoy their outdoor seating area/bar, which is in what was formerly the hotel's pool. read more

this was my first time visiting the mellow mushroom at virginia beach, and what a great experience! it was nicely decorated and had ample seating. it was definitely a vibe. we arrived on tuesday before 7pm, and had no clue they held trivia nights. it's completely optional, but we decided to join for fun! the service was amazing, our waitress was incredibly kind and often checked on us-- but not in a way that makes you feel pressured or rushed. the trivia wasn't a disturbance either, they kept the music at a reasonable level and we didn't have to yell or anything to hear-- unlike my experience at the richmond mellow mushroom. the food was great as expected. the crust was perfectly crispy and fluffy. i ordered a lavender lemonade which was on their mocktail menu and it was perfect! i would definitely come back. read more

Holy cow, RUN! We had the best experience at the new Mellow Mushroom in VB! First of all, the restaurant itself is GORGEOUS! Filled with unique and funky art from local artists, there is so much to take in. Even the bathrooms are beautiful! There is a full bar, inside seating, a patio with big glass windows that can open in the summertime, and outdoor patio seating. The pizza kitchen has an open concept where you can actually watch the pizza makers to their thing. Our server Heath was the best!! He made great recommendations for food and drinks. He also pointed out the "locals" section of the menu that we would've otherwise overlooked. We started with the pretzel bites, spinach artichoke dip and Cloud 9 wings. The wings definitely stole the show! Double-baked and drenched in garlic Parmesan sauce. Highly recommend! The spinach artichoke dip was also delicious and cheesy and came with plenty of garlic toast. Our favorite pizza was hands down the Thai Dye Pie off the locals menu. This will probably be the one we get when we return. The Wild in Havana was a close second-- that pizza is PACKED with flavor. Each bite was different than the one before. I also loved the mayo-mustard drizzled on top. It's so unique! We had to finish with a brownie sundae which was the perfect size for two. Wow! Just walking by and seeing the beautiful mural on the side of the building was inviting! The decor inside is also beautiful/ unique and hip. The outside bar is perfect for a sunny afternoon, wait till you see the art and moving piece outside. Now let's get to the best part...the Pizza. The signature pizzas were delicious using many local ingredients. Try the Thai-Dye - spicy with sweetness. We also got the cloud 9 wings which made you definitely made you feel like you were on cloud nine. Also indulge in the juicy meatballs. My order was ready when I got there, but the 4 is simply because I think it was probably ready 10-15 minutes before, even though I got it early. The only drawback is the parking, there is nowhere to park at all besides metered side streets and I try not to have to pay a meter to pick up food that I already paid for :/ Currently, there is only to go orders, which with no seating makes sense. I've heard about Mellow Mushroom and was excited to see they had a new VA Beach location for us to visit on vacation. It's carry out/delivery only right now, but we planned to take it back to our hotel anyway so that was fine. We got the pretzel bites, cheese pizza, Great White, and Wild in Havana. The dip that came with the pretzel bites was good, but the bites themselves lacked flavor. They didn't taste like pretzels at all. The pizza was good, we definitely preferred the Havana to the Great White. The Havana was unique and had good flavor. The Great White was slacking on flavor, I love a garlic pop on my white pizzas. Just made my first visit and here is what I thought. I really liked the searing they had, both inside and out. They did a really nice job with the space they had. I had the garlic cheese bread, which was really good. I was a little disappointed the marinara that came with it wasn't hot but the flavor was really good. Then I had a pepperoni and meatball pizza. I normally like a NY style pizza but this was really good. The crust was nice and fluffy but had a nice crust on the outside. They are not shy with the ingredients either. Prices are as expected- a touch higher (16oz draft Miller lite - $6) , but not insane. no view of the ocean , but the lowered level of the patio keeps the street noise to a minimum. Attached to the southwest corner of the Sheraton @35th, where the old indoor pool once was located. convenient separate entrance for pick-ups reduces traffic around inside tables. This specific location is totally done up, and it's a great location for it as it's right on the boardwalk! Seating is plentiful and will definitely bring in hoards during tourist season. The experience was great from being greeted by the host, her estimation, and our service. It was a gigantic group, and our server handled it well. I did find it weird that auto-gratuity for large groups wasn't a thing. The drink selection is pretty big, but many of the cocktails were rated poorly between it tasting watered down or being too sweet. Perhaps stick to beer as it's pizza & beer, not pizza and mules~ The hazy IPAs were all out on the Sunday we were though, so hopefully this isn't a common occurrence. The pizza is not for me, but I could understand why this chain does so well. The dough is super light and fluffy. The menu has crazy pizzas, but if you want to keep it simple, you can just make your own as well. I do appreciate the various sizes, so you can get a pizza for yourself or for the table. The pretzel bites are ideal for sharing, but they were just OK. The pacific rim was pretty alright, I just didn't care for the fluffiness of the pizza. Parking is atrocious, so if you want metered, just try to find some spots near Smartmouth Brewery and around the block. There's a garage nearby as well. I was not aware this was a chain. The location caught my attention while coming from another location for breakfast on the exact day I went in. The place was crowded but not crowded as you can barely get in more like busy but still be able to have a conversation with those around.I had their version of the orange crush, the RB margarita and the cosmic karma pizza. The dough of the pizza was light, fluffy with a bit of crispyness. The pesto mixed with the red sauce was an interesting combination. The saltyness coming from the pesto and the sweetness of the red sauce balance the flavors brought my combination of cheeses in this pizza. The sun dried tomatoes, went along well with the roma tomatoes. For me, I could had it with just the sun-dried tomatoes. The drinks, were average for me. Unfortunately our pizza came out incorrectly, and we had to wait a while for a new one to be made, which left a long span between our salad and pizza. Shockingly, the new pizza was not correct either, but not wanting to wait any longer or have any issues- we kept it and said nothing. Came here tonight with my family and the whole waitstaff were super chill and nice. There was no wait inside or out, so we got seated right away. We got cheesy bread as our appetizer, which came out very quickly. It was definitely cheesy, comes with a cups worth of marinara as well. The cheese is good, has a nice flavor, and the bread is crisp on the edges. They use a 12 inch roll of bread cut in half for it. We also ordered three pizzas: a small cheese, a small holy shiitake, and a large sausage and pepperoni. They don't make some lame pizzas, I have to say. Whatever you get you'll enjoy. The mushroom one was definitely my favorite. The mushrooms were pre-cooked, not like the usual sad mushy things precariously placed atop. Nothing overpowered each other, it was all very well balanced and savory. The crust was crisp, not soggy, greasy, droopy, or anything. It was absolutely perfect. They also make sure to put more of the table parmesan on top before they bring it to you. Last thing we got was the enlightened spinach salad, and I recommend not getting the champagne dressing. The salad is sweet on its own, it doesn't need a sweet dressing all over. Next time I would try their house sauce with it, because it tasted like candy when I had it tonight. The pecans in it are delicious though, and I'm not usually one to like them. The place itself is urban, but not so much as you feel out of place. Very casual I'd say. Lighting is good, even outside they have a good amount of it. Music also isn't terribly loud, just enough to drown out the table next to you. They do have booster seats for babies, and the regular chairs are like plastic office ones. They have a good list of beers, and alcohol in general. The menu also lets you know which item is without meat. I highly recommend trying them out! read more

Coming from California, we know a good pizza place when we eat at one. We decided to eat outside since it was a nice night and the outside had a nice selection of seating choices. Andrew came over and introduced himself as our bartender/server. He was super funny and very helpful when it came to helping us select a pizza. We ended up getting the Pacific Rim and it was amazing! So this restaurant is attached to the Sheraton Hotel making it super easy to pick up a quick lunch, snacks or dinner when your staying near by. At this point it's only open for pick up at the counter and not eat in. They are rebuilding/renovating so dine in should be open soon. I phoned my order in but you can also order online for pick up or delivery. And it was ready within 20 minutes. Super convenient when all you have to do is take a ride down pick up and take the elevator back up to your room. I ordered a small create your own pizza thin crust which had pepperoni, onions and mushrooms. The amount of pepperoni & onions was fine but could have had more mushrooms. I also had a small Caesar salad and asked for anchovies. They put in about six strips of anchovies and the dressing was good.
