Smaller place but wonderfully decorated. I loved that they celebrate their staff and give support to the entire floor. Everyone was very good especially the birthday girl. We went on Sunday July 14th for breakfast to discuss family things and it was perfectly quiet enough for us to hold a normal conversation. Food was delicious. Since my visit and review, I've been dozens more times. My grandfather lives just around the corner, so we typically stop by for breakfast or lunch at least once when I visit. The menu is large and has all the dishes you'd expect on a Tex-Mex menu. I gravitate towards their huevos divorciados, breakfast tacos, and migas plate, but they have so much more. Their frijoles are very good, and their tortillas are excellent. Their customer service has been a little less consistent of late (difficulty getting servers' attention, not bringing things asked for like another cup of water or the salsa tray with various salsas), but it's still quite good. It's a charming place with indoor and outdoor seating and consistently good food. (I recently found their fideo to be not great - just tasted like bouillon cube and too salty - but I've always everything else I've ever ordered!) Overall, it's a great place for a Tex-Mex breakfast or lunch with a big menu sure to have something for almost anyone! read more

100% recommend this place!!! The ambiance was perfect-colorful, vibrant, and great Latin music. My family was skeptical because they thought it would be Tex-Mex but they were happily surprised. Homemade tortillas, our favorite menudo, huevos rancheros, and more. We were brought small bowls of Fideo and chips and salsa as we sat down. It was delicious from beginning to end. The service was on point and welcoming. It is not a big place, it's smallish but warm and inviting. On our next SA trip, this place will be an included! Helpful young lady kept returning to refill my wife's iced tea without being asked Food: 5/5 - we split our orders so that we can share - wife ordered the Milanesa torta (HUGE!) plate and I ordered the street taco plate (2 pastor and 2 asada) served with grilled and raw onions, cilantro, limes and borracho beans (superb). Tasty and generous portions! Ambience: 5/5 - Clean and cozy dining room. Bathroom was spotless so you know kitchen is clean. We came in at 2:20... We all ordered all our plates and me and my dad got ours but my mom got RAW meat tacos...So she returned it politely and the waiter took it back and then they didn't even bother to try and update us. Me and my dad finished eating and she still didn't get her food. My mother has a medical condition so her medicine makes her ill if she doesn't eat. I felt bad for the waiter but why on earth would we tip a place that can't even serve simple tacos within 20 minutes.. I'll say it again.. The damn meat was RED and bloody for the beef tacos. Pretty, colorful seating outside sets the tone for this cute little taste of Mexico. Our waitress was so helpful in explaining exactly what was in the different items on the menu I was unfamiliar with. I ordered two tacos on corn tortillas, and when they came, they were so large I could probably have gotten by with one. Fresh corn tortillas were so amazing. My boyfriend didn't want the carbs, and he was able to order 4 eggs, bacon and la carts. They brought out a platter. I'm always on the hunt for good migas or chilaquiles and in my pursuit have realized that restaurants can vary greatly in how they prepare it. Some use corn chips, some fry corn tortillas, either is fine by me. Some plates come with eggs and cheese already, some charge extra to add those. I frown upon the extra charges because I feel cheese and eggs should always be included with breakfast Chilaquiles and Migas. As long as they come with cheese and eggs included, I'm happy, so I left this restaurant very happy. I had the Migas a La Mexicana plate that comes with potatoes and refried beans but I asked for double beans instead of potatoes which they accommodated easily. The plate came which two fluffy and delicious tortillas as well which I used to make to-go tacos once I had had my fill of the plate. They bring three different salsas to the table and warn you which is the spiciest. The least spicy was very flavorful and my favorite. I appreciated that our waiter brought me extra foil to wrap the tacos I made with the leftovers. I had coffee with my breakfast which had a great roasted flavor and I liked that they bring cold half&half and a sugar caddy with sugar free options. The great colorful decor gives this small cafe a festive vibe while still being inviting to all. Many families had their littles with them. Great place for a quick delicious meal. read more

As I was walking into the restaurant I heard many familiar songs I could recognize and it was not playing too loud or too quiet where you can't hear the music at all, it was at a perfect level. The food here is absolutely amazing, and the owner even mentioned that their enchiladas verdes are his grandma's original recipe and said he was very delighted that we enjoyed his food. Our waitress was very soft spoken and polite. Before, we were about to check out the owner came up and asked us how our food was, I had told him that I really enjoyed his authentic fideo and because he was very happy we enjoyed his food he insisted on giving me a cup of fideo on the house. This was one of my favorite Mexican restaurants I have ever been to in my entire life and I've been to many, so that says a lot. read more

My husband and I were out shopping and needed to eat. I work in the Quarry and have never eaten here. I suggested it and my husband agreed. It did not disappoint. We sat ourselves and the waitress brought out several salsa's and chips with a complementary fideo. The salsa's were great. We decided to try street tacos and a torta. The pastor street tacos were fantastic! They had such a good flavor. The asada were good but the pastor was the best. My torta was huge. Beyond a normal portion. I thought the bread was amazing. I asked if they baked the bread but they didn't. The Milanese was good but I would definitely get this again but try a different protein. The atmosphere was nice. Clean. I am new to the area and decided to try this place after work due to the reviews. I travel often and love trying out the city/local favorites. So I've been to tons of places from coast to coast. Restaurant/Service: Very cute restaurant in a great area, decor is very colorful and ambience is pleasant. Love the butterfly wings for photo ops! Waiter was great, very friendly and had great suggestion and service. Food: Waiter immediately brought over chips with a trio of salsas and a house-made red salsa - all 4 lacked flavor and spice. Along with the chips and salsa, a sopa de fideo - which also lacked flavor, I had to add salt/pepper and salsa. Now for the main dish - I had the 4 street tacos with 2 choice of meat, my choices - carne asada and barbacoa, served with charro beans. I could barely eat the asada, which had tons of fat and no flavor. The barbacoa was another story, I took one bite and could not even get it down. It was horrible, very greasy and tasted so bad (never tasted anything like that). I felt so bad and had to tell the waiter when he came to ask if I wanted a box. He was very sweet and gave me a discount because I only ate 1 taco out of 4. So far worse food I've had in my stay in San Antonio. But if locals like it, that's great. First off, the complementary Fideo was awesome, aside from that you have so many salsas to choose from from mild to spicy. The plates are definitely loaded so come hungry. Dave and I are always arguing over where to go to dinner, in places that we've never been. Tonight was the same lol! We were in San Antonio, an unplanned stop because of the gusty winds. We got recommendations from the KOA that we were at. They were downtown and we had to park far away, with little Daisy in the RV. So I found this lovely gem on my Yelp App and it was light and inviting. Jessica our server, greeting us with nachos, three kinds of salsa and two steaming cups of chicken soup with noodles. This was just what we needed on this frigid night in Texas! I ordered the fajitas flameada, thin sliced beef, fresh green peppers and onions and it was covered in cheese. The sides were yellow rice and refried beans and fresh warm tortillas. Dave had the puffy tacos, which where were filled with ground beef and lettuce, tomato and cheese. They were served on delicious puffy tacos lol! The sides were the same as mine. I had wonderful black coffee and we ordered a flan to share. It was delish with whipped cream and a cherry on top, artfully decorated by chocolate syrup! Yum, so smooth and creamy. Omg this place was amazing. I was shopping at the Quarry and pulled up Mexican Restaurants and this place came up. I drove over and was a little worried it was more busy in a Saturday night. But my concerns were about nothing. My waitress Jessica was absolutely amazing. She explained things in the menu as well as suggested items for me to try and everything she told me was amazing. I live about an hour away from This place but I can not wait to bring my family back. You will not be disappointed. This place is a gem. When we got there they immediately brought us chips and red salsa, a cup of fideo and a plate of different salsas. The fideo was delicious, it was cold outside and the fideo was warm and yummy. The salsa was really fresh I finished the whole thing. I ordered coffee, the coffee was just okay. Then I had the barbacoa plate with corn tortillas, the barbacoa was very good. It was really juicy but it didn't have a bunch of fatties which personally is how I like it. It came with beans and breakfast potatoes which were also good. My boyfriend got the huevos divorciados with barbacoa. The salsa verde on those was very good, all the salsas tasted homemade and there was one for every spice level. Their limonada was also so good it tasted home-made. The portions were huge and the prices were moderate. Also our server was great! She told me they sell the barbacoa in family packs so I will definitely be going back for that !
