I'll preface by saying that I'm not a frequent reviewer but am very familiar with vehicle maintenance. I went to Midas in order to patch a tire and get an oil change. Wanting to save time, I asked for them to take a look at my tire before doing any work and to let me know if they would be able to do it all at (trying to not run around to 5 different shops to in order to compete my trucks full maintain economic needs) 30 min later... Comes back saying that he couldn't patch my tire but has changed my oil and reading off the usual oil changing station suggestions cabin filter, air filter ect. (I had those changed a month earlier) The work they did was fine. However, the deception was a bit uncalled for. I wouldn't recommend. read more

I have been here twice now, and let me tell you, the guys here are awesome! I know absolutely nothing about cars, but my husband's car was acting up one day so I brought it here because he thought this was the last place he had the oil changed. He apparently went somewhere else, and that place messed up (didn't fill the oil up all the way, I believe). Alex fixed it -- a mistake made by somewhere else -- and topped it off, completely free of charge. Who does that?! So obviously, that right there earned my business. As soon as I was ready for an oil change on my car, I headed right that way. Alex and his crew were undoubtedly amazing. I would recommend going to Midas for minor fixes such as oil and Freon changes. I got both of these services done, and they were done in a quick and efficient manner. Alex, the manager I believe, was friendly and liked to chat. The only dissatisfaction I had was that I also went in with a sensor issue, and they were unable to fix it so I had to go elsewhere. I want to start off by saying "thank you" to the manager, Ray, and his master mechanic, Pete, for all the wonderful service and quality work they did for me. I had taken my car originally elsewhere and the mechanic just blew off my concerns that my engine was smoking. When I took it to the Midas in Newport (off of 19th), Ray patiently looked at the video I took of the smoke and went over the recommended repair list I got from my dealership earlier. I really appreciated the fact that Pete showed me exactly the issues he saw that needed fixing. He and Ray took the time to answer my questions with patience and knowledgeable experience. They even took care of the small things like a seat adjuster handle that had come off without me asking and I love the transparency of the work ethic here. alex is the guy who fixed my exhaust that I had installed on my car but there is something hitting on the muffler everytime I first start the car or if my car hits a speed bump its hitting something. He did an amazing job in less than 1 min he figured out what the problem is. Also he is a very accomodating and will answer all your questions with reason and with respect. So when it comes to your muffler needs or anything car related this is the go to guy. I recommend this shop to anyone who needs troubleshooting their car specially exhaust systems. read more

I went to Midas for an Oil Change and asked for a quote regarding rotor and brake pad replacement. The oil change was performed along with a tire rotation (I did not ask for rotation)-HOWEVER- they don't balance the tires. They want you to come back and pay extra to balance. THREE DAYS FOR BRAKE REPLACEMENT This is a long one because it's a long story. Unfortunately, I had an awful experience at this Midas. I live in LA, but I brought in my 2013 Audi A4 for a rear brake replacement on a Saturday while visiting my family. I was told the car would be ready in a couple hours, so I thought it would be good timing. Hours later, I received a call that they didn't have the correct tools to perform the job (a diagnostic tool to release the EBrake), but that they could get it from another shop and the car would be ready by the end of the day. I needed to be back in LA that afternoon, so I had to borrow a car to drive up. I called them and told them to please leave the car outside with the keys on a tire and I'd pick it up in the evening, since they would be closed when I returned. I drove over an hour back down to Newport from LA, expecting to see my car outside, since I had not heard anything contrary from the shop, but it was nowhere to be seen. I panicked, not knowing what had happened, or if my car had been stolen, since I had instructed to leave the keys on the tire. I contemplated activating the Lo-Jack on the car to see if it had indeed been taken. I decided that the best option would be to wait until the business opened the next morning and call. I then drove another hour back to LA to call in the morning. I called, worried the next morning and the shop explained that they have the tool but the "technician" that could operate it wasn't in, so they couldn't do the job Saturday. All they needed to do was call me before closing the shop Saturday to tell me my car would not be ready, waiting outside when I arrived. By this time I had already wasted so much time and gasoline because I trusted when they said the car would be ready for pickup. The shop started to realize that they had screwed up, so he reassured me that the car would be ready no later than mid-day on Sunday, so yet again, I began my hour-long drive back down to Newport. HOWEVER, after I was halfway down on the freeway, I received a call that actually the mechanic wouldn't be in until Monday and that my car would finally be ready. By this point I couldn't even believe that it could be this disorganized and began to think I was being jerked around. I was furious. I had essentially wasted my entire weekend based on their false promises and awful coordination. They didn't charge me for the "labor" that was performed, but this did not come close to equating to the wasted time and gas. Will never return to this or any Midas. Additionally, I asked them to put premium ceramic brakes on my car to avoid brake dust. I had that type on my car when I arrived in the shop (which produced zero dust and he assured me that they would put "ultra premium" pads on (like any salesman would). But after a week and a half, my wheels were black with brake dust. And lastly, when I arrived, I asked if they could simply patch a leak in my tire and they said no problem, BUT I guess they forgot about it and the tire is still leaking.. Save yourself time and money and go elsewhere. read more

I was looking for places to do my alignment for a couple weeks and went to a couple other Garages but they didn't take the time to hear me. When I drove in to Midas Pete and Dennis both greeted me, they were friendly and listened to my concerns. The manager Pete did my Alignment & took the time to explain exactly what he was was doing, what needed to be done and why. He really made me feel confident in his work. I'm from San Francisco so i had to find a new auto place to fix my car in socal and i went into this place a bout a month ago to check it out. I went in for a tire change and they delivered excellent service and efficiency. They checked more than just my tires and noticed that my break pads were getting low so offered to replace them. I came in thinking I had an appointment but the administration website didn't contact them so I wasn't on their schedule but they still took me in as a walk in and handled my issues in a very timely matter. They did all that work on my car within 2 hours while they were busy with other clientele and wanted to make sure I could get back to work on time. As I was waiting, their service was very kind to keep me updated with what they were doing to my car and made sure I was okay with waiting. Afterwards, my car was all set and ready to go with no problems. Price was a little on the high end but I would say very fair for the thorough job they completed. Just this morning, I went in because I was hearing some discerning sounds from my car so I called and they told me to walk in for a check up at 8am. I come in and they immediately got to work, found the problem, and fixed my car in under an hour. They rebalance my tires for free and thanked me for coming in early. These are very honest guys and I can say that I will go to them any time I have car troubles in socal. You can't beat good service in the auto industry and these guys made me feel very comfortable to trust my car with them. I was shopping around to find somewhere to get my brakes done. I had noticed their sign stating brake specials on my way home and decided to give them a call. The next day I went in for an estimate. It can be intimidating being a woman going into a auto shop not knowing if they are gauging the prices because they know you have no idea how much things should cost. That was not the case here. John and Ray helped me out and once my care was inspected and they knew what needed to be done, Ray did everything he could to make the work a reasonable price and ended up knocking over $200s off! There was an issue with a part of my back brakes and Pete spent hours trying to remove it without breaking the piece so I wouldn't have to pay more for additional parts. When I told them that I didn't think I was going to be at the shop for as long as I was and had planned to go to the gym after, they offered to take and pick me up from the gym while my car was being fixed. Literally going above and beyond what others would do. Since my car was going to need to stay overnight to get finished in the morning, they offered to pick me up from my home to get back to the shop. These guys truly care about giving their customers the best experience and giving fair pricing. I will be back for any issues my car may have in the future and will be telling friends about them! I've had a string of issues with a Toyota Tacoma I bought, from the moon roof, to the transmission, heck my rear brakes didn't work for the first year of having it. The dealership told me it was fine, charged me absurd prices to run tests and said I was good to go. Knowing full well the car was acting up I brought it to this Midas location, and specifically Troy Vincent. He listened and was hands on, I showed him my concerns and they found major issues at hand. They fixed my brakes, found recalls on my car, and got all my problems fixed so I could go back to Toyota and show them what they had missed. Which Toyota fully reimbursed me for. And just the other day my tailgate broke, and wouldn't open anymore. I went into Tustin Toyota, and they told me it was going to cost me $1800 to fix it. And that they needed my truck for two days. I knew they were full of it, again, so I swung by here on my way home and Troy took it apart in 10 minutes, found the issue, had the parts on hand, and fixed it good as new and didn't even charge me. The level of service here is otherworldly. Truly. If it weren't for Troy and his excellent team I'd be in the hole at least 5k right now. And that's a level of service you won't find anywhere else. read more

The price was very reasonable and I also learned more about my car because they will let you see what is going on in the shop there is a big glass window and all the garage doors are open they even let you take a peak under the car :) the best most convenient place for me. read more

Today, May 3rd, 2014, I went to Midas to get my Shift Selector replaced because I couldn't take my gear shift out of park and into another gear. Anyway, Greg & Janet came up to me and greeted me with hello's and how are you's. When we walked in to Midas, they were really busy and there were a lot of people and their cars there also being serviced. They took my car in to be serviced and I asked if Joe was there and they said NOPE, so when they took my car in, they didn't know that I spoke to Joe regarding the part that I needed for my vehicle but Joe didn't tell anyone where to get the part and if it was even available to be picked up. I told them I called Joe the day before and Joe told me that the part would be there once I arrived at 10:00am. Apparently, this particular part wasn't even ordered and or picked up or even delivered for me when I arrived at 10:00am as per my vehicle appointment time reserved with Joe. I felt bad that Greg didn't know what Joe had told me, cause usually Joe would tell Greg what we had talked about on the phone and Greg would know all of the details when I would arrive for service to be done to my vehicle if Joe wasn't in. This time, Greg didn't know until I explained to him that I spoke to Joe the day before and I was promised that the part would be there and that it would only take about 1.5 hours to fix. I am "VERY" disappointed with Joe for not communicating/telling Greg about anything we discussed the day before 05.02.2014 and where the part was to be picked up and if it was even ordered or if it was even ready to be picked up or even delivered. But, Greg, Janet and I called a few dealerships around town and asked about that Shift Selector which was in need to be replace on my vehicle. Janet even asked one of her family members to pick up the part at "Tuttle Click Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, & Ram" in Irvine/Lake Forest. They (Greg, Janet, & The Crew of Mechanics) made sure that my car was going to be fixed and to not have me worry that maybe my car was gonna be there until monday if the part didn't fit or anything. Greg, Janet, & The Crew of Mechanics made sure it was going to be done and done correctly. This is what I call "DEDICATION" to their customers and the service they provide is great and very reasonable in price and/or amount. I LOVE "GREG, JANET, & THE CREW of MECHANICS" for their effort, patience, understanding, thoroughness, and GREAT customer care, and also on getting my car fixed and running before they closed at 5:00pm. I didn't mind the wait, me and my partner enjoyed the company of these two people who own Midas and the crew of mechanics they have there. I wish there were other places like this where the owners & the mechanics were so nice and understanding and honest and just willing to work with their customers to make sure they are happy when they leave and would want to come back to them for the service and maintenance to their vehicles. Me and my partner have been taking our vehicles to them for close to 5-6 years now and so far, we have not had any issues with their service and/or their mechanics. We would drive close to 2 hours to get an oil change or a service maintenance repair and hanging out with Greg & Janet. read more

This is the best Midas in the Irvine area and clearly has the best customer service. I won't get my work done anywhere else because the team here is very professional and they're also very customer service oriented. Alex used to be the manager here and he was awesome. I had my oil changed at Midas Lake Forest and they left oil all over the inside of my new SUV with only 6,000 miles. And I don't mean oil smudges, I mean actual oil as in straight from the container. When I asked the mechanic, he responded "it's a busy shop bro". Unbelievable. So after refusing to go to another Midas, I decided to give this one location a try but I asked the manager if they use gloves and covers when they do the oil change. Not only did Alex say we use gloves, seat covers, steering wheel covers, and more, he said you can watch us do the oil change to make sure everything is to your liking. Wow, and true to his word, I watched the oil change and everything was done with care as if they were working on their own vehicle. Alex doesn't work there anymore, but Ray who took over, is just as good. I also got the chance to meet the nice couple that owns this Midas, and they were awesome. I see why this Midas has the customer service culture it has, because the owners are the ones who make sure that this Midas is run the right way. I bring both of my cars here and even though it's a little bit out of my way, it's absolutely worth going the extra distance. read more

This is such a fantastic store! The people who work there are super friendly, kind, and go out of their way to help you and make sure you have the best experience possible. My mom and I took our cars in together at 4:30 today thinking we would have to leave our cars overnight, but the guys stayed late to ensure that we were taken care of. On top of that, we spent time chatting with the manager Alex Farias who told us a little bit about his life while he was working on our cars and he has an incredibly inspiring story! It was so nice to have a real connection with someone like that who is so positive and uplifting. The Costa Mesa Midas is the only place I go for car maintenance since I discovered it 3 years ago. The team always goes above and beyond when working on my car, and the prices are always cheaper than the other maintenance places. Today definitely takes the cake for superior customer service. I went in for a routine oil change and maintenance check and was informed that rats had been nesting under the hood! I only open the hood if it seems like something is wrong, so I had no idea. In addition to the other maintenance work my car needed, the team removed a rat nest and droppings and advised me on how to prevent them from coming back, even inviting me to stop by again to make sure the rats didn't take up residence again. These tips probably saved me from getting the wires chewed in the future and paying thousands to get it fixed. Thank you Midas! Keep up the great work. read more

Went to this Midas location on 1/21/19 and received the best service we could have asked for. Ray was extremely helpful when it came to addressing our needs. My girlfriend and I would definitely recommend this location and we will be back ourselves. Ray was really refreshing considering the fact that whenever we have visited other shops we did not receive the kind of respect and help that we desired. Greg and his crew are awesome! The first time I was in this location Greg came out of his office, and out of the blue, introduced himself to me, and he has proven himself to be very trustworthy. I have had all three of my vehicles serviced here, including my work truck, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. They do great work, and are very thorough. The managers are exceptionally friendly, the service timely, and the prices are reasonable. The lobby has been recently remodeled (since the last time i was here). It now represents a "beachy" feel, with fresh paint, comfortable chairs, and a longboard hanging on the wall. I can drive safely with Greg and his crew as my mechanics. read more

I've been servicing my brakes at this Midas off-and-on for well over 10 years. The previous owners did a decent job of providing a professional service, but nothing to write home about. In fact, most Midas shops I've been to have been just so-so. I came back to the shop after being away for a few years and immediately noticed that the management made some big improvements - the office and waiting room had been completely renovated - everything was upgraded, it was clean and they provided pretty good coffee. The rep at the front desk - which turned out to be the new owner - explained that he had purchased the shop a while back and invested a fair amount into making big improvements. My brakes were recently squeaking so I brought my SUV in for a brake service. They did a full inspection and reported back with their findings - my tail light was out and I had some wear on my rotors, but the overall the brake pads were fine and rotors didn't need to be resurfaced right away. In short, nothing needed to be done. They replaced the bulb in my taillight for free, didn't charge me for the inspection and said that I'm probably good to go for at least another 10,000 miles. I was blown away. When has anyone ever gone to a repair shop and had them not recommend 10 things that you should think about replacing or fixing? Finding a honest repair shop that isn't trying to sell you on a bunch of unnecessary fixes is nearly impossible to find these days. I'll be coming back to this shop forever as long as management is able to keep up what they're doing now. read more

I went in here for a brake job after my local dealer said I needed brakes. I chose Midas in attempt to save some money. The guys in here were super honest and told me I had 50 % brake life left! They did find that my rear suspension was blown and physically showed me why and how. When I dropped the car off for repair I mentioned my hitch needed a new weld which they said "no worries we will do it at no charge!" I thought that was really nice of them. Just picked up my 2003 Explorer yesterday and, once again, Greg and his whole crew at Midas have gone above and beyond with their service. I even paid to have my car towed from San Diego to give them my business. Over the years, I've brought my car in for oil changes, brake fixes, new tires, etc. and I've always been happy with the results. This last time, Greg kept me updated via phone and text, sending me photos of some of the broken parts to show me what they were replacing. Can't recommend this place highly enough!! read more
