I came here for a quick bite since I had training right across the street. I ordered a regular chicken teriyaki. The food came out fairly quick, and I ordered Togo to bring back and eat in the lunchroom. The chicken wasn't cooked all the way, and they give you very little rice. No salad either, which I don't mind but usually they give you a side of salad to eat when you get teriyaki. It was $8something. Apparently some of the people on Yelp either are high or deranged. This place is fine - for what is it, which is a small, dark, fly specked Teriyaki place in the dingy part of downtown Seattle. I went in here for lunch, and the place was hopping - it might have had something to do with the fact that they're filming a movie in the club next door - dunno, but it was busy - I had to wait ten minutes for my order - which is my only complaint. Note to readers, it looked to me like take out orders got bumped in front of sit down orders, so beware if you go for sit down. In keeping with Nancy's review, I ordered the salmon and brown rice and went and grabbed a drink from the cooler (drinks go with the order during lunch). I watched people come in and go out, and orders coming out of the kitchen. Yes, you could argue that the service was a bit slow, but it was lunchtime. Yes, you could argue that the prices are a bit inflated, but anything under $10 for lunch in Seattle isn't worth putting in your mouth. I sat in the window (I like watching you people) and waited about ten minutes before my plate was brought to my table. The food didn't last more than five minutes - it was worth it, good flavors, decent portions, and clean. When you're done, bus your own table. BTW my Teriyaki salad was NOT slathered in ranch dressing - it had a small portion of what tasted like a ginger and mayo mix - kind of what they put on salads at Benihana - and it tasted fine thank you very much. This place is, IMHO, better than International down by the courthouse - larger space, better food (or at least as good) and free soda or water with your plate during lunch. So all you overweight courthouse people turn left when you walk out and walk a couple of extra blocks and try this place. The shop is a little dingy, but I wasn't really expecting anything better. The prices seemed a tad high considering you can get a fancy sandwich or entree anywhere else for about the same. Anyways, I ordered beef with broccoli. I think she ordered chicken teriyaki and a salad. My meal was OK. Not great, but I ate most of it so I can't say I hated it. If you like a side of teriyaki soup with your rice then this is the place for you. Keep reading because I'll get to that. I absolutely HATE, HATE, HATE this place. It's possibly the worst, most disgusting teriyaki I have ever tasted and it takes A LOT to get me to hate teriyaki. Another reason why I hate this place is that they're money gouging opportunists. Keep reading because I'll get to that too. If you work in one of the Met Park buildings that are across the street from Midori you will know it's the only teriyaki joint within a six block radius (I said teriyaki joint, not a corner store or random restuarant serving up a teriyaki dish to cash in). So unless you have the time to walk 10-15 minutes to a better place, then you're pretty much stuck with Midori to fulfill your teriyaki cravings. The worrisome thing is, they know this. As a result the typical teriyaki dish cashes in at a little over 7 bucks. Initially, a teriyaki lunch started off at 5 bucks and some change and you got a free drink whenever you bought one. I could forgive the food's faults for the low cost and beverage. Months later, it moved up to 6 bucks and a free drink only from 10am to 2pm (and they don't tell you this, you just have to know to go and grab a drink). Now, they're in the 7 buck stratosphere. That would be alright with me if I could see where the money went. What you get is a large to-go three well styrofoam container. The two smaller wells are piled high with two large mounds of sticky white rice. To add insult to injury, they pile in a third equally large mound of sticky rice in between the two wells and then shape it into one long mound that seriously is a minimun of three cups of rice. In the largest well is your "teriyaki". The sauce is watery and does not resemble a glaze. There is a slight taste that micmics a teriyaki sauce but it's so watered down and too molasses sweet it was gone before I could enjoy it. The chicken swim in about a half inch puddle of this treacle. I mean you can tip your container to the side and watch the "sauce" pour off. In fact, that's one of the problems if you order to go and it's not situated in the bag properly. You'll find your bag full of this watery mess. I do give them some credit. There is a nice smoky char on their otherwise rubbery chicken. Also, on the side is the "salad" of iceberg lettuce, five slivers of carrots, and two slivers of purple cabbage. Accompanied with this is the dressing that tastes like a runny, sweet, lemon flavored mayonaise. Porportionately with the rice, you get about one third that amount in chicken. The chicken/rice ratio is way off and I ended up with a well and a half of untouched rice and a barely touched salad due to the horridly sweet dressing. Can you say disgusting teriyaki money gouging opportunists? They also offer a chicken bowl for about five dollars but when I tried to buy one with my debit card the gal at counter said the bowls were cash only. WTF? Oh yeah, the overall restuarant is a pit. During rush hour tables are not bussed so dishes of half eaten food, empty pop cans, and soiled napkins litter the tables. The bus tub is typically full to overflowing. The seating is cramped leaving little to no room for traffic flow or standing in line. And there's only one person at the register. Also, if you are unwise enough to eat here, stick with the teriyaki. Venturing off the beaten path will ensure you a good 20-30 minute wait . The only other thing I tried was a spicy mushroom chicken dish. All I can remember of it is rubbery pieces of cubed chicken, surprisingly well cooked mushrooms quartered not sliced, and spicy sauce that tasted faintly of ketchup. I agree with the reviewer who said this is the place you go when you're beyond the realm of desperation. But even in that realm of desperation I rather lick the bottom of my shoe than eat there again. read more

Sure it's nasty, dirty and smells funny. Hey, sometimes you get exactly what you pay for. Bottom line is the food is decent-ish, service is okay-ish and ambiance is, well, dirty, nasty and smelly. To expect anything else may turn out to be an exercise in disappointment. Oh yeah... It's also the only Teriyaki joint in the area. Go figure. Still, the food consistently tastes OK providing you order on the menu and keep your quirks to a minimum. Teriyaki is good and the broccoli beef is decent. Midori is a small place with a strange atmosphere. The pictures on the wall didn't seem to have any common theme, and there were boxes stacked on the soda case in the corner. The food was alright: not bad, not great. I got the vegi-yakisoba with tofu, which was alright. My girlfriend go the vegi-teriyaki dish, which could be summed up as "meh". "Yay! I'm a fan." is right. This place was right next to my doctor's office, we were hungry, I had 45 minutes left on my parking meter, so WHY NOT? Let's do it. I had the stir-fried veggie/broccoli/cabbage/veggie with tofu (I forgot the actual name, but it was basically a veggie stir fry), and my daughter had the chicken katsu. She was more than pleased with her food. We both commented on how great the rice was. Normally, I leave most of the rice on my place at a cheap teriyaki place, because it's usually so bland and gross. But Midori's rice was perfectly cooked and somehow very tasty for just rice on the side. We both basically said, "Wow, this rice is better than the usual..." I didn't try the chicken, but my daughter finished every last morsel and remarked that it was really great, and "This is a great place! I didn't think I'd like it, but now I would totally come back!" (She's 13, by the way.) My veggie stir fry with tofu was delicious. The vegetables were still perfectly crunchy (not cooked into a rubbery, tasteless death), while also have a just the right amount chargrilled flavor (yum!). It was not overly salty. Another nice surprise. It came with some sort of garlicky, mayonaissey sauce in a condiment cup. I honestly don't know what it was, but I added the tiniest amount onto the outer surface of my food and it was great! Both meals came with free beverages. SCORE. The server was sweet as can be. Went here early 2014. I'm reading a bunch of comments that the place has cleaned up? Take my review with a grain of salt I suppose. Once upon a time, I was the only customer around 6pm on a weekday. The outside reeked of urine, but I suppose it's impossible to prevent the homeless from peeing in your entrance. Food is cheap teriyaki with packaged salad. The price may be $ but you can get a lot more chicken for less money at other teriyaki joints, especially in Redmond or Woodinville. Midori just doesn't hold up well against other places- the interior is dirty, the fact that they got a health code violation should speak volumes about their quality control and philosophy on running a business. I felt shameful after eating here. The teriyaki addiction is strong, and my curiosity got the best of me. The rating here is already poor and people continue to go here- I guess the location must be convenient so business is free. If only the owners would read this and take advantage of this opportunity to really make something great. read more

Loved getting lunch at this place. It was extremely busy at lunch hour. You get free soda with online order and free salad when dining-in. Everything has changed this week. There are no more teriyaki dishes, just bowls. Amount of food still the same, but the dishes people loved are gone: 1) It's a teriyaki place that does not have teriyaki dishes 2) No salad for dine-ins, you get to ask for one 3) You get noodles and salad mixed in within a bowl. Seriously I'd go to Vietnamese place for that, that is just next door. Please bring back the old menu! No plans on going back until this changes. Midori was a bit of a walk from my office but I had to give it a try. I stopped in around 11:30 and i was the only customer there. The waitress was quick and friendly. My order came out in a reasonable amount of time. SO BUSY between 11:30-1:30 I ordered online and by the time I got across the street it was almost ready. I only had to wait about 3 minutes. The chicken came with almost no sauce on it. So It was basically chicken and rice. I didn't notice until I got it home. I also did not get the "free can of soda" they advertise if you order online. The reason they got three stars was because of how fast they were working. The workers out front were moving so fast and working really efficiently that the time it took to move everyone around was pretty impressive. Dined in with a friend a couple days ago and got severe food poisoning the next day. I ordered the spicy chicken combo with kimchi and a dr pepper. I was in such extreme pain that I had to take several different medications including probiotics and sleep inducing meds to calm the pain and try to sleep it off. My entire day was spent in bed, almost going to the ER and ruined my plans. It could have been the chicken or kimchi and my symptoms were close to ones received from eating botchilism. Teriyaki Midori is right next to my office and it's very convenient. Because of the many options available I eat here often. The place is very crowded during lunch hour. I like the food quality and the speed of service. Spicy chicken with gyoza are my favorite. I would take away a star because I feel that the quantity is less for the cost. But considering that they claim to use organic and fresh produce I feel that's keeping the price high. I don't mind paying for this factor. Our team just moved buildings from SLU to right above the 24 hour so I had pretty low expectations about the restaurants surrounding this part of downtown. One of the many great hole-in-the-wall restaurants you can find. Not the best Asian food I've had but pretty good grub if you're looking for some lunchtime flavor. Portions are pretty good for me. Reasonable prices, good lunch specials, overall something you'd expect to something similar in the I-District. To make a point, I come here at least once a week. Favorite dishes: Chicken fried rice (+ mushrooms) or General Tso's chicken. Ordering online also gets you a free soda or something like that. read more

Not impressed. I ate here twice as I was on business travel and had no time to walk further from the office. The food is edible, but that's about it. The best thing is the tiny cup of dressing that comes with the side salad... which I'm sure comes from a store bottle. I tried both the crispy chicken and the teriyaki chicken. Neither had any sauce on them - you get a small packet of sweet and sour sauce, and that's it. The crispy chicken was bland and tasteless, with not-so-great quality chicken (or poorly cleaned). The teriyaki chicken was a little better, as it was a bit crispy on the outside, but it was incredibly dry. With one dish I had the brown rice, and with the other white rice. Both were AWFUL. Sticky, bland, nasty, poorly cooked. How hard is it to make some decent rice? The line is out the door, as there isn't much else to choose from in this particular block. It's either this, or an equally bad sandwich next door. So I doubt the owners particularly care about quality - they're making money hand over fist. read more

I had to go REI and i found this restaurant on the way. It was lunch time and there was so many people in the restaurant. It must be good, i thought. I ordered chicken and katsu combination and my friend got general tso chicken. They both were really good. I liked the katsu sauce that comes with my meal.
