This is way overpriced for what you get. When you pay a similar price to Capital Grill or other top steak houses you expect something similar. Service was just ok. Food was ok as well. Absolutely loved this place. My girlfriend and I went here for dinner last night. She really picky (vegan/vegetarian and sometimes only chicken) the waitress Leana was so accommodating and wonderful. I had the Steak Au Poivie cooked med rare. It was perfectly cooked. I started with the French Onion soup, and it was best I've had in town. Tony the manager came to the table and visited for awhile, and was super friendly. They made us feel special and the way the entire staff caters to detail is above and beyond. As we were leaving, we met the bald bartender (don't remember his name, I'mbald too so we had somethingin common..lol), but he was great too. We talked about the menu, and how there's so many amazing options. I will be back this week to try the beef stroganoff, rack of lamb, lobster bisque and clam chowder. So many other things too, to many to list. I highly recommend this place, you won't be disappointed. I think a review on here a couple months ago, hit it right on. Maybe they used to be better? But for that dollar amount there are plenty of Great options in this price range that are fantastic not average. Food was average at best. Chilean sea bass was over cooked. Ravioli that went with it was over cooked as well. My steak came in over cooked, and we had to send that back. Salads should have told me what we were gonna receive. Fig Salad, had one tiny fig. Prosciutto looked a couple weeks old. Dark and dry. Salad was unimpressive. My Bibb Salad lettuce was light green. apples that came with, was barely any at all, and i had to ask for the candied walnuts because they forgot them on the plate. I think the young kid clearing the tables cared more about our experience than the waitress. She had excuses for almost everything! There was no empathy or sincerity to making sure our dinner was atleast very good. It's just very disappointing that this is the closest steak place near a very Beautiful Neighborhood! We decided to try Mignon out for my son's birthday. Upon arrival, the host was very friendly, gracious and welcoming. The food and drinks were not worth the price. My halibut was overcooked, dry and bland. My son's lamb chop was raw in the center and the outer meat was chewy. The drinks were flavorless and barely any liquor in them. And the service! The server did the bare minimum. She was not overtly rude. My son gives her "The benefit of the doubt ". He thinks it may have been her first night as a server there, which I highly doubt. The appetizer of brussels sprouts was the best we've ever had anywhere, including a five-star restaurant in New York City. The salmon was on a bed of cream corn and was cooked to perfection and was exceptional. The myth the fillet mignon was cooked to where You could look at it, it was ready to eat, already sliced. Rebel the bread tasted like it came out of French bakery. The date cake was phenomenal. I reserved our spot and spoke with the owner over the phone and everything was nice. We picked outside seating and our server was Chris and he was phenomenal. We have been to this restaurant dine in before and all seemed to be decent. It was fairly empty but we figured maybe it wasn't a prime time for this location. We decided to try it again and ordered take out for dinner last night as we live very close. Mignon was again empty... not to our surprise after our experience. We were greeted with a bill for pickup that included hand written gratuity. We frequent several restaurants and value servers, however it is not only illegal to hand write a tip it is presumptuous to demand tip amounts on a pickup order. We are very generous and if the service is warranted we typically tip accordingly. Hand writing on someone's check while demanding that it is policy is outrageous without prior disclosure. Many places that have an automatic gratuity policy have the class enough to have it printed on their receipt... would have seemed less insulting and more professional. To top off the experience we return home and discover our broccolini was raw... I called the location to inquire and was told by the manager "they don't really cook it long so vitamins aren't lost". Quite frankly when we order a fillet seared in butter I don't think we are concerned with paying for $13 raw vegetables or our "vitamin intake". Being unapologetic and insisting that this is "quality" left a worse taste in our mouth than the raw veggies. Next time we want raw produce we will go to Whole Foods and slap it on a plate, we'd feel much less cheated out of $13. We will be taking our business elsewhere in this shopping center. From the depths of Burger King to even the snazziest of restaurants, never before or since Mignon in Plano have I ever reached an impasse with any restaurant accommodating modifications for my order. When attempting to order the 12-ounce Prime Grilled Filet "Oscar" and asking if I could substitute the Chive Whipped Potatoes (I avoid starches) for their Mignon Wedge Salad, I was told it could not be done. When I asked to speak with the owner, he confirmed that it absolutely could not be done, offering me a laughable "because our vegetables are very expensive" as an explanation - nevermind that my request for the iceberg lettuce of a wedge salad would have been the *less*-expensive alternative. In summary this place is total crap... If there was an option for a negative star I would select that as one star is generous. The décor was an overdone attempt to be stylish and while not horrible, for a restaurant of this caliber I expected better. I visited this place twice before deciding to post a negative review but both times I was taken care of by inexperienced staff and an arrogant manager who cared little about customer service. On one of my visits it seemed as if our waiter was a buss boy rather than a waiter. He had no knowledge of the menu and could barely speak English (Spanish was his first language). He confused our order because he couldn't understand what we were ordering even after pointing at the menu so he could write it down. As for the food it was reasonably priced for a 4-5 star quality dining experience however the taste, presentation, and service was not up to par. On both visits I tried a variety of dishes and they were all bland in flavor and poorly presented. VERY DISAPPOINTED in the food quality. Again the food was consistently bad on both visits spaced months apart. Again this palace is horrible!!! I am yet another patron confused to see some of the low reviews--particularly with the reasoning given behind them. In terms of complaints about the leisurely service--my friends, you are dining at a FRENCH restaurant. Slower service is not only industry standard with this cuisine but expected. Same with complaints about price--you are eating quality French food--have you ever been to a 4 or 5 star French restaurant? Most are significantly more expensive than this one--my husband and I love going to Mignon because we can almost always leave having enjoyed a $300-$400 meal for $150-$200. Should you want to have food for under $100, maybe consider a Bonnie Ruth's or a La Madeleine's. My husband and I have almost consistently had stellar experiences at this establishment. The owners are a treasure--every time we come in, they move mountains to seat us at our favorite booth and always each come by to check on the family and make sure our dinner and service are impeccable. Any time we make a request, they do whatever they can to accommodate it. The food is fabulous 9 times out of 10. The ONLY exception to this is when we have come on a busy holiday and even then, the food was not bad, just not up to their usual standards--however this is to be expected given the sudden influx of impatient, entitled diners that want to get in and out for their fancy holiday meals. My husband has not found a better steak in the Plano/McKinney/Frisco Area. I have many favorite regular dishes--the roasted chicken, the shrimp and sweet corn risotto, the seafood crepes to name a few. She then went on to tell us that the owner asked her if she was willing to pay for the steak to make it right and she wasn't. Can't say I blame her because her total tips for the night were going to be about $50 based on the lack of customers and the steak alone was $50. She probably messed up by ringing it in wrong, but making it right was obviously out of her hands and that is on the owner. In the end, the owner nor any sort of manager ever came and said a word to us and I ended up eating and paying for something I didn't order. I expect more from a $200+ meal. Rather than losing the price of one steak at his cost, he was willing to lose potential future business and receive more bad reviews. No wonder the place is empty and his neighbor across the lake is working on a wait all night. We walked out saying we would give the place 30 days before it is closed. My Husband and I decided to try this place for the sake of trying something new. I figured from the name of it that I would be enjoying a nice juicy steak. We walked in dressed in "dressy casual" attire and thank goodness because this place will ask you if you have reservations. Why, I don't know because there may have been 20 couples in the whole room. The difference between this and American steak houses lies in the sauce accompaniment. The mushroom & truffle risotto is to die for. The bread is done very well considering it is in Plano. We drove from Arlingotn, TX to Plano, TX b/c my husband wanted to pick up tamales that my mother-n -law made for Christmas. The we got back onto HWY 75N and exited Coit. Then we had to drive (10) miles N of that to get up to Preston Rd. We parked in the shopping center lot. It was next to Red's and Mi Cocina restaurants. When we arrived for our 7:30PM seating we were told that we would have another 30" wait. Thank goodness I brought the Ipad & Luis enjoyed watching some of the Cowboy game in the small bar area. The bathrooms were unkempt. I would not call them dirty, but they were unkempt. The owner should've hired someone to attend to the bathroom. The men & ladies rooms had paper towels all over the floors. The ladies room did not have a lot of paper towels remaining to dry my hands on. I liked the soap bottle, but thank goodness it was running low. it was like a bottle of Grand Marnier w/o a pump. The soap did smell good on Luis hands, but he says there was not much in the men's room to use. He had to wait for it to trickle down. When we were first seated. We did not have the pleasant quaint feeling that we had at Cast Iron. This restaurant since it is in a strip mall does not overcome that "one room" feeling. The walk in area has bathrooms immediately to the left and the hostess was very short w/ her attitude. We made a reservation here for Father's Day 4 days prior for 5 plus a baby. We called the next day to add a person and confirm the baby would be allowed at the restaurant. We were told no problem. Now the day before in the late afternoon we get an email the reservation is cancelled. No call. We call and are told now the baby can't come. Very bad service. Now we are stuck the day before Father's Day with nowhere avail to go. We would have changed from the get go. Customer service needs to be much better here and it's very unfortunate the first time my father wanted to leave the house in 3 months for good brunch we now are out of somewhere to go. It was awesome for lunch, but I feel like for the price it should have been better for dinner. Lunch- I think this is the perfect place to grab a bite with the girls or for an intimate lunch for two. When the weather is nice I like to sit on the patio, enjoy a nice refreshing beverage, and chow down on their seared tuna burger with aioli. Came here with a party of four to celebrate our Christmas lunch with my coworkers and had a great experience. We were given the pre-fixed menu (which had our custom department's name printed on top since we made a prior reservation). The crab cakes, lobster bisque, and prime steak were all fantastic and frankly too much food. Each of those would have been enough as one meal for me but I still managed the finish the crab cakes and lobster bisque and took most of the steak home. Everything was cooked to perfection and I'm even craving it now. I'm not one for too much attention from service and that's precisely what it's like here. The waiter was great but maybe a tad bit too attentive. If you're looking for a fancy place to throw down some money, I'd say this place is worth trying. Don't know if I'd find another occasion to dine here though. read more

Was in town for a meeting and looking for a good place to eat dinner. Wine selection was amazing, the food was even better. We had braised boar appetizer, bacon wrapped quail, veal and venison specials, shortbread cake and bread pudding for dessert. This restaurant contends with some of the best eating I have done in L.A. and NYC. The service was spectacular, our server Shana had great recommendations. I will make it a point to eat here whenever I am in Dallas. The only weird thing to me was the music did not match the food or atmosphere. read more
