Rice & Curry Plate
Delilah S.

This has become my Portland staple every time I visit. I truly believe it is a MUST TRY for any vegans and foodies visiting PDX. I was incredibly happy to find out the Rice & Curry Plate is now available everyday of the week. The last time I visited, it was only a delicacy weekend option. The staff member who took our order was kind & quick to service us. Plenty of seating inside and outdoors available. Of course, the food was just as tasty and spicy as the first time I had it. Thank you to the wonderful chefs and people keeping this place running. I am so grateful to have the privilege to try this plate again and I look forward to my next visit to Portland, just for Mirisata. Highly recommend trying as you cannot go wrong ordering any item from their menu, but get the Rice & Curry Plate and your mind & body will thank you for it.

Combination plate

So very glad we went here! Our first time trying Sri Lankan food and it was awesome. We got Polos cutlets 5/5 (served with green chilli chutney when requested to be made spicy) - had a nice stuffing of spiced potatoes and raw jackfruit. Somewhat like a samosa filling but still quite unique. Wasn't spicy but was very flavorful. Combination plate with Seeni Sambal (caramelised onion tamarind chutney), Polos (jackfruit curry), Deviled pineapple (daily special; the best of the lot!), Radish salad, Mustard Greens salad, and chickpea curry. Served with rice and papadum. The seeni sambal was the only mediocre thing on the platter. Loved the deviled pineapple where pineapple was stewed in a spicy sauce. The pineapple pieces had absorbed the sauce really well and were very juicy with a nice bite to them. The polos is also a must try - raw jackfruit really absorbs spices well and the fleshy and stringy / fibrous texture made it extra delicious. The mustard green and radish salad were also very moist and lightly seasoned, while the chickpea curry was only mildly spiced but balanced the rest of the dishes well. Mango ice tea (4/5) - we got it unsweetened so the mango flavor did not really come through all that well. Very friendly staff/owners. Parking can be a little had to find - we parked at a spot about a 5 min walk away. Gender neutral restroom located past the kitchen so they ask you to wear a mask while walking to the restroom. Outdoor and patio seating with very beautiful decor. Love the ambience and the whole vibe.

Fried rice with pork (Chinese menu)

Still delicious as ever! And now with more breakfast/brunch options. I just wanted to update this review because I had a really wonderful fried rice dish, sometimes the portions can be big or better for sharing, but this was an incredible value as I was just enjoying lunch on my own - and I had so much food and was able to eat some the next day for lunch. Just wanted to update that I loved this fried rice with just egg and I got it with the "pork."

Had another great order from Mirisata. I ordered the Rice & Curry plate with spicy jackfruit curry, deviled potatoes, parippu, kale mallum, seeni sambal, and a few other things I cannot remember. Once my food arrived, I started eating and forgot to take a picture. Their food is that good and I'm not a vegan. The portion size was average. I will order again. Mirisata is such a unique place. I'm happy I live in Portland to be able to patronize this restaurant. P.S. If you dine in, they are tip less. Imagine just selling things for one price that includes everything, especially a living wage for the staff.

Rice and Curry Plate

i'm dissapointed :(. I've been wanting to try this place for a few months as i live nearby and it always smells so good when i walk past. We were hopeful and excited and decided to get a rice and curry plate for two so we could try a bunch of different specialties. We chose the garlic curry, their special deviled potato, and the daal. then we asked the person up front for recommendations to help fill our plate which was nice. The issue was, we waited 40 minutes with no food. I eventually had to go up to the counter because i knew something was up. every person got food besides us, even every single person who ordered after us. I talked to a kind lady at the front and let her know. I want to be very clear this 2 star review has nothing to do with her. she was so sweet and i heard her talk to the kitchen right away. I dont know what happened or why our order got lost. but workers continued to come into the dining area and clean tables. I wonder why no one thought to check on why we were sitting for so long with absolutely nothing. i've worked in the industry for years and you should always be checking what's going on with everyone. we got our food a few minutes later. It was sad that we spent so much time waiting when in reality the food didn't take long at all. the kind lady who helped us finally get our food did offer us a drink for the inconvience and we happily tried the lime soda. I do think the experience hindered how everything tasted, because i was super dissapointed in the food. It was $30 for our plate, which was mostly potato's, garlic, and other vegetables. I thought flavor was lacking and I reallly didn't like the texture of their imitation meat. I sadly wouldn't return due to all of the above. I hope they can be more attentive in the future because no one should sit for so long and not be checked in on.

Ramp up to the counter and some indoor seating

I'm still a Mirisata fan. I think they're doing something unique in Portland - both in the style of food they offer, as well as the structure of the business. Order at the counter (you may need to ring the bell for service). It was recently remodeled so they've got beautiful tile, a big menu board, and a water tap straight in the wall. They will bring food to you. Sit inside (music is a little loud for my tastes) or on their covered, heated patio. Drinks have been good; I haven't tried their desserts. Skip their "short eats" (unless you really want crispy fried food) and go for the curries / deviled dishes. Definitely get a bread too. Food trends spicy.

Rice & Curry Plate with Meatball Curry, Black Pork Curry, Kukul Mas Mirisata, Oyster Mushroom Curry, Polos, and Green Bean Mallum

I was in town for work and decided to DoorDash Mirisata for dinner after seeing it in several IG Reels. I'm so glad it lived up to the hype. This was probably my favorite meal of the trip. Everything was so flavorful and delicious. I ordered the Rice & Curry Plate with Meatball Curry, Black Pork Curry, Kukul Mas Mirisata, Oyster Mushroom Curry, Polos, and Green Bean Mallum. I loved everything, especially the meatball curry. I will definitely make sure I eat here every time I have to fly into Portland for work. I was too tired after traveling and long days this time, but I'll definitely go in person next time.

Garlic Curry

I literally have no words for this place -- the best food ever. And I feel so lucky to have tried it while visiting Portland! I had never had Sri Lankan food but my partner who had visited said it was the best. So when we found this little place we put in on our list for dinner and WOW! The staff was welcoming and the location was cute, with outdoor and indoor seating. I had the garlic curry and vegetable roti and can't recommend both enough. The menu said the roti is a street food staple and yes, if I could have access to this any day of the week, I would. The size is generous! The curry was perfectly spiced -- it was just an explosion of taste! Our only regret was we had already had a big lunch so could only do a small bite to go. So if you're thinking on stopping by, it's a must and we can't wait to be back!

Egg Roti
Sam R.

We hit up Mirisata for a late lunch and I thought the vibe and outdoor seating was great and welcoming. We opted to split a shareable platter and added a roti. I somehow had missed that the food options were vegan but it was a fairly enjoyable meal. I thought the egg roti had a nice texture and flavor, and liked the parippu along with the spicy chick'n curry. The flavors were very unique, and the portions were good. The tropical fruit salad was a bit lackluster, but alright. I made the mistake of eating too much of the egg roti and couldn't finish the other dishes. The drink menu was quite awesome, and I ordered a passionfruit mocktail which was tangy and refreshing. My friend had an iced Sri Lankan coffee and it was quite tasty and not too sweet. Customer service was pleasant and friendly, and we were able to catch up and chat over an extended meal. I was also curious about the dessert options but did not have the appetite. If you're looking for unique and delicious food, I'd suggest visiting Mirisata for lunch or dinner.

Dal tea pumpkin curry
Terradon I.

Staff was super sweet. This is effectively a food cart that has covered seating and an indoor dining area adjacent. So for me, too cold for winter and spring. I don't eat meat so there are good options. The pumpkin curry is a little salty, the dal was lovely. Tea: awesome! Get a pot! I didn't add anything and the flavor was excellent. Would be lovely for a warm summer evening or lunch.

Azzy N.

This place has declined dramatically, and it's genuinely sad to see. They've eliminated most of the high-quality dishes they were known for (including the dolphin katu), and the service has gone downhill just as fast. The outdoor seating is consistently filthy tables, benches, and chairs are NEVER cleaned so you're expected to eat in the cold at a dirty table you have to wipe down yourself. To make matters worse, I found a black hair in my food. I used to enjoy coming here (as my previous reviews show), but between the lack of hygiene, disappearing quality, and careless service, I won't be returning. A little basic cleanliness and care would go a long way in the food industry. At this rate, I'd be surprised if they're still in business in a few years. ****In response to the owners reply my review is not about being there on January 30, 2026. The last time I ate there was this summer in 2025. You also confirmed you've changed your menu to cheaper lower quality items to maximize your profits. Cutting the quality of your food just shows where your ethics and values lie which is exactly the reason why I will not be supporting your business.

Parippu Vade
Medha B.

**A hidden gem in Portland** We stopped by this cute little spot on our way to Eugene, and we're so glad we did. The weather was perfect, so we chose to sit outside -- the ambiance was relaxed and inviting, making the whole experience even better. The staff was lovely! Our server was super friendly and took the time to walk us through the menu, even recommending a few dishes we might have otherwise missed. We started with the *Pariparu Vade* -- it reminded me of a similar dish from back home in India. Crispy, flavorful, and comforting in the best way. The *Rice and Curry Plate* was the real standout. Each curry had its own flavor profile but somehow worked perfectly together. It was more than enough for the two of us to share. We also tried the *Deviled Chicken with Fried Rice*. It was good, just not as exciting as the other dishes -- we might skip it next time, especially since the rice and curry was more than satisfying on its own. All in all, great food, warm service, and a lovely outdoor setup. Definitely a place we'd come back to!

Kurukkan Roti (GF)
Tannu S.

Good food, quick and humble service, and not very clean but ample sitting adjacent to the order area, both indoor and outdoor. The green chili chutney served with jackfruit starter is a flavor bomb and I could recommend them just for that. The roti's offered are pretty unique to their culture. The entree platter is ok and served over rice. I find the food over priced but delicious. Also, because it's all served over rice, so, in 5 mins the curries become too dry to eat with roti. I wish they put a little more thought in how the food is served. But I guess it might be a cultural thing and it's their way of showing their culture. For a full experience I would rather eat there, but I guess a beach vibe would add a perfect blend to that experience.

Does this restaurant serve Organic food?

Is this place safe for a Celiac? i.e. are there rigorous enough practices in place to ensure a truly gluten-free dish?

We are not a gluten-free kitchen, so there could be flour in the air at any time. People with severe allergies to gluten shouldn't eat here for that reason.…

Are there gluten free options?

Yep - they are labeled on the menu at Mirisata.com. The weekly rice & curry special is also always gluten-free.

I was looking for food nearby and came across this restaurant. The food was surprisingly delicious! We ordered the chicken katsu curry, kama-age udon (hokkai miso soup), and the kama-meshi seafood. The chicken katsu was cooked perfectly: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside! The sauce also was the perfect texture and taste. My favorite was the kama-age udon with the hokkai miso soup. I love udon but sometimes don't like how thick it is because it fills you up faster and is harder to digest, the udon here is thinner which I fell in love with! It's soft and chewy and the perfect thickness: you dip it on the soup when you eat it. I also loved the soup, I usually have leftover soup when eat noodles, but I finished every last sip! Definitely recommend this dish if you were to only order one item! We also ordered the kama-meshi seafood. I thought this one tasted okay! The flavors of the seafood come through, but I personally like stronger and heavier flavors. It was worth a try! Parking: This restaurant is in downtown portland so it was difficult to find parking. We ended up parking at a nearby garage and paid for parking. They do have a few street parking spots near the restaurant if you want to test your luck! Seating and service: We were seated really quickly as we went on a weekday! They have several tables and a large table that can be reserved as well as bar spots. I'd say the sandwich gets about 80% there in terms of comparing with a standard sandwich. Gluten free bread typically has less chew than glutinous bread, but I was still impressed with how close it gets. The soup was a touch too salty for me, but a soup and sandwich combo is never bad. The pho broth was already pretty salty when it arrived, but somehow managed to become even saltier overnight. The salad rolls were packed with tofu, which I appreciated, but whatever marinade was used had enough sodium that my old horse Mika probably would've mistaken it for a salt lick.
