Upon arriving there is usually a line (but moves quick) the line is for the kiosks to make the actual order, then the staff serves you pretty quickly, but can range from 1-15mins+ from ordering. 4.75 stars. It's not line culture, there's a line because this shop doesn't have a lot of room for the line inside. The 4 ordering kiosks are just inside the door - or confusingly, the same line also goes to a cashier & customers seem to freeze not knowing where to go. I joined the line of about 6 people & got inside in just a few minutes. This business is efficient! Their menu is straightforward with a few different flavors oolong, jasmine green, mango + ice cream to make it interesting. It seems like their lemonade is popular & one of their only caffeine-free options. Of course had to try their soft serve ice cream. Total: $4.01. Actually really good quality, didn't expect this from a chain shop with such low pricing. The wait for the food was under 3-5 minutes. If you ordered ice cream you have to go to the end of the counter to pick that up when the ice cream guy calls your number. The lemonade is good! Tastes homemade - lemon, water, sugar, ice. I got 50% less ice & 70% sweet probably could have had 70% less ice and 50% sweet. The quartered thick muddled lemon slices in the cup are a nice touch. The matcha soft serve cone was also really good. It's a medium Matcha flavor, but after a while, your tongue gets cold so it's not like the flavor builds up with ice cream. The texture is like high-quality soft serve. It's not thick and Mr. frosty heavy and artificial, but medium and smooth. The waffle cone was also really fresh and just crispy enough. I'd wait again in line for this soft serve ice cream cone! The theme song is kind of annoying, hopefully they turned it down from online reviews and comments about it. They also had someone dressed up as Mr. King in the costume outside overall, I think local and tourists expected the line and the kind of theme park atmosphere, and waited pretty patiently. The waiting area fits about 15-20 people. I took my drink and ice cream across the street to the pedestrian plaza area. I think MIXUE [Mee-zyoo] has successfully joined a good international market & I can see why they've done so well in China (WHY aren't US Fast Food companies using better ingredients!). They have the same jingle tune playing over and over which could definitely get a bit annoying, but they also have their cute mascot in the corner. My matcha soft serve costed about 2 bucks and it's actually so good!! The matcha flavor is strong, and taste grassy but it pairs well since it's an ice cream. For the price, it is soooooo worth it since the quality of the matcha isn't that bad. The service was really quick too. Also I can't get with 0 ice only less ice. The song they play on repeat is like a childhood nightmare lullaby, it's super catchy and creepy and I feel bad for the workers who have to listen to it constantly. Makes me feel like I'm at a weird carnival. This place used to be another boba tea and ice cream place and then a boba tea place before that, so interesting it keeps changing. If I were forced to empty my bank account and place a bet on which food & beverage chain has the most retail locations worldwide, I would have lost every last penny. I'd have gone with Starbucks or McDonalds, not Mixue. Mixue? Really? I'd never even heard of it. Turns out 41,000 of their 47,000 stores are in China, so I'm not gonna be too hard on myself. Mixue specializes in ice cream and boba, and only has 4 US locations, so I had to get down here and investigate myself and see what all the hype is about. As I was about 100 feet away, I could hear their jingle playing on a huge speaker outside. The well penned, eloquent lyrics "I love you, you love me, Mixue Ice cream and tea" played on loop. At first I found myself nodding my head and thinking "they kind of slid on this..." but after about 3 minutes, it became a form of audible water boarding. These employees are truly God's strongest soldiers for having to hear this ALL day. I walked past a short Chinese man in their "Snow King" mascot costume into a squeaky clean environment with an assembly line of employees dialed in. I ordered soft serve ice cream ($1.19), lemonade ($1.99), peach oolong tea ($3.49), and pearl milk tea ($4.99). Soft serve ice cream at $1.19 cents is unheard of in New York City. I semi-regularly pay $6 from those mid ice cream trucks. It's straight 2008 prices in here, how could you not love that? And the soft serve BANGED. The ice cream is a firm texture inside of a big cake cone. This is how soft serve should be. Upon first bite, there was a strong after taste that was far too sweet and creamy for me. However as I kept eating, that after taste dispersed and it tasted like the nostalgic soft serve ice cream I grew up on. It was a roller coaster. There's always a really long queue at Mixue, so while it's been open for a while, I still haven't tried them - at any of their locations in the city. We were in the area after dinner and the queue, for once, was pretty short. So we decided to line up, which only took about 10 minutes. You order at the kiosks and pick up at the counter. For the prices, you can't really complain about much of anything. Between all of us, we tried all three flavors of the soft serve. I think in terms of best to worst, it was the Green Tea, Vanilla, and then Chocolate. I did not like the Chocolate one at all, it tasted like fake chocolate milk. Although the weather has been super cold, I had to stop by and check out this bubble tea shop as soon as I saw the bright red store. I have been meaning to try Mixue but they have yet to open in queens so I was super excited. Mixue is so hectic but in the best kind of way. Have I heard of them before? Absolutely not, but having a person in a mascot suit outside definitely drew me in. Came to this location during a lunch break to see what the hype was all about. At the time, the line wasn't too bad so highly recommended coming during your lunch hour. This location was an open store concept, there not exactly any seating or area to stand to enjoy - definitely made for pick up and go. During this process, I had to enter my number and while ordering, I ordered the Green tea matcha soft serve, on the next screen a bunch of coupons or rewards came out and I was happy to know that the soft serve was only going to cost 1cent! HUGE TIP: Be sure to remember your order number cause it's not printed on any receipt or sent to your phone number!! This is a fun little Chinese dessert chain that just opened right on the corner of koreatown in nyc a few weeks ago right across the street from tiger sugar! My friends and I arrived here on a Friday afternoon around 2pm and were surprised to see the crowd outside the door. There was a little bit of a line but it went by real fast as the service here is extremely efficient. There are a few different menu items to pic from but the bulk of the menu is bubble teas and soft serve ice cream. There was cute little music blasting from outside the entrance as we were walking in. There are three different large tablets when you enter to take your order but sometimes you might also find a staff worker at the counter to take your order. I think they may be an upstairs seating area in the works but it was blocked off for us when we arrived. The big attraction for this place is the insanely low prices for food here. When you arrive and enter your phone number in you can even get additional promotions. One of which is one soft serve ice cream for 1 cent (which normally cost 1.19). The ice cream was ready within 5 mins, despite the crowds there, it's really quite remarkable how efficient the staff here is. The soft serve has a distinct coconut flavor which was a nice touch. Okay this place is downright edging on unfair working conditions. Have you ever been on it's a small world after all at Disneyland or disneyworld? We'll thats basically what this is. Checked out Mixue in Koreatown/Midtown, and it's easy to see why this place is getting so much attention. Drinks here are pretty tasty and very cheap for their grand opening. Everything is under $5 for bubble tea! I tried the Peach Oolong Tea, Pearl Milk Tea, and soft serve. The peach tea had nice fruit bits in it and wasn't overly sweet with 30% sugar. The pearl milk tea also was super tasty and the bubbles were nice and chewy! This is probably the busiest location that's currently in the city. They have more selection than the other ones I guess cause they have a bigger space and can store more things. I tried the Matcha ice cream as well as the lemon iced tea. The Matcha ice cream I think is tastier than the vanilla and slightly more expensive. The workers here are very efficient. So why did I give not a great reading this is the second time I've had the tea and it's either super weak or very, very bitter. I think I'll just stick to the lemonade and the ice cream.
