This was a great cafe near Hanauma Bay. There was a bit of a wait - about 45 minutes at 10:30 on a Friday. But the area in front of the cafe is shaded with chairs and picnic tables, and there is a larger shopping strip around it, so it is not a bad wait at all. We got the sweet bread French toast and the short rib loco moco and shared each plate. We both agreed that these dishes were better here than the cafe we went to near Hauula. The gravy was high quality, not too thick in the loco moco. The sweet bread was light, fluffy, and a good balance of sweet and savory. As a bonus, the coffee was excellent - freshly brewed for each cup -- there is a reason you are limited to one refill. Superb. read more

After hiking the Koko Crater Trail, we were ready for some FOOD! So we found Moena Cafe to be a perfect and convenient spot to refuel. There was a line and after about a 35 min wait we were seated. Service was super friendly and considerate. The fact that our nice waitress apologized to the fact that we had to wait made it worth while. We ordered the breakfast sandwich and a veggie panini. My fiancé found this place on Yelp while we were nearby for the sunrise. Stopped in, and was impressed from the moment I walked in. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is AMAZING. The servers here are very nice and helpful. With a decent menu selection they take the time to explain their favorites and answer any questions you have. We ended up getting a split Benedict of 1 crab and 1 kalua pig. (They let you mix the protien!) we also shared a banana chantilly pancake which was amazing. Try it out if you're in the area. We came in for my best friends birthday and there was no wait. We got seated quickly and got a big welcome. The water did come in small glasses and I mean I love water so I had hope that they would always fill up my water when needed. We ordered the avocado toast with an add on of goat cheese which was literally a sprinkle for an extra $2! Ridiculous. Strawberry and milk pancakes was big for one piece and huge to share. And also we ordered a fish Benedict. All of this was yummy and beautiful. A bit pricey but it is Hawaii Kai so I expected it. The worst customer service Ive ever had in my life. My husband brought his entire UH ROTC program to a family and friends event here. Upon arriving the waitress was extremely disrespectful and belittling to my husband. He got upset when he let her know three of us would be on a check together and she said i let the person know who made the reservation that we do not split big group checks. He apologized and she said was it you who I spoke to he said yes. She said I told you three times we don't split checks. I asked her if she was okay and she said yes but I told him three times on the ohone. I asked her to please not disrespect my husband and she said I'm nit being disrespectful. She became defensive and I asked for the mangers number. She told me no one was in today. So I asked another lady and she told me the girl I was speaking to was the Manager. So I asked to speak to the owner and she told me she'd get the number. I waited 15 minutes and asked another waitress and she told her she wasn't dealing with me right now and that she would get it later. When she came back to my table I asked her can I please get the number and her story changed again and that she couldn't get the number because the owner only had a private number. She threatened she was going to kick me out and I said for asking for a number and she said I'm a do it. I might do it. And she said I was coming for her. This lady was the rudest person I've ever met in my life and we spent over $400. Do not come here. She still never gave me the number. read more

We came here once before and the food was good. I had the crab benedict and it was very tasty, kind of expensive for a small serving of a breakfast item, but it's okay. We also had their pancake, the strawberry one and it was very large. I loved the topping, but the pancake as a whole was very dense and huge. Literally the size of a plate. Also, we got military discount our first time eating here and it was pretty cool because we didn't even ask they kinda just asked us if we were military and then gave it to us. The second time we went but with a larger group of soldiers (10 people) they basically said they've never had such a discount, but like that was the whole premise of why we even came back. Stopped here before heading over to Hanauma Bay, and what an AMAZING breakfast. The supersized pancakes were so light and fluffy and the banana sauce were just the right amount of flavor. The corned beef was not the crap in a can that most diners serve, but real pieces of potato and corned beef. The Kalua Pig Eggs Benedict - my favorite! At the end of the meal, we mentioned we were heading over to Hanauma Bay and the waiter sent us off with complimentary fresh scones for our day! I've heard so many good things about this place, but I never tried it myself until recently. Just as I had expected, it's pretty expensive. Nothing ridiculous, but expensive for breakfast/brunch in my opinion. This place is always busy, but it's worth it every now and then. Decor is simple and cute, and it's just a nice brunch place. i been dying to try this place for the longest. finally decided that today would be the day to. i knew that it would be busy seeing how today is sunday, and it was around breakfast / lunch time. but they do phone orders!! which is what i decided to do. it was a 25 minute wait, which was expected as how busy they are. i would have loved to have been able to dine-in but at least i was finally able to try this place. MC breakfast: choice of rice, eggs, and meat. i got the over easy eggs, fried rice, and bacon. i would have liked if the bacon was on the crispy side, but the fried rice was good. banana chantilly pancakes: i ordered this after seeing the pictures and reviews on yelp. and it is just perfection. it was better than i expected. it was something different. it had coconut flakes on top (which i was not expecting) but it was still great! it made the pancakes have even more flavor actually. definitely recommend this. short rib loco moco: w/ fried rice, i thought this was okay. would have preferred it with a hamburger patty, but it did have a lot of flavor i must say ^ this all, plus a side bacon came out to $48. it is good portioning and was enough for two people. the servers there were also very nice. definitely be back, hopefully able to dine in next time read more
