First time trying Moon Rabbit and I had no expectations. I usually pick out a black milk tea or thai tea with boba, but I decided to try the Sea Salt Coconut. It's a Jasmine Green tea with brown sugar, coconut milk, sea salt, and coconut cream. I added coconut jelly to it as well. It tasted way better than the photo looks. It was mildly sweet, not too sweet and I liked the jelly. I usually cut the sugar in my boba teas by half, but didn't need to here. It was a little pricy and even though the fat cups are cute, they're terrible if you want to stick it in a cup holder. I would probably order something again if I was here and had a craving for boba, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

Located in grand central market, cool place to go. The staff was nice. My friend got the salted coconut drink which was pretty good. The drink had a strong flavor, and you could taste the sea salt cream which was nice. I got the almond taro which I wasn't a huge fan of. The drink itself was veeeeeeerry light. You could hardly taste the taro flavor whatsoever which really sucked because then youre just left with almond milk. The boba was also very disappointing. It had a great texture, but had absolutely no flavor :( it seemed like they didn't add any brown sugar or honey when they cooked the boba. Hopefully it was a one time mistake and thats not what their boba usually taste like. I ended up going back to ask change my drink. Usually I'll just deal with it but I just couldn't do it. The staff was nice about it and they made me a brown sugar milk tea, I asked for no boba this time. The brown sugar milk tea was good, it had a very strong flavor which I enjoyed. We got the grilled pork banh mi ($13) which is overpriced but it's located in Grand Central Market so they can justify their high prices for banh mi. The banh mi is a bit smaller than expected but full of veggies. Their ratio is like 50% vegetables and 50% pork. There was too much cilantro and it wasn't really cut up. The carrots were not pickled correctly. There was barely any flavor. The mayonnaise and soy sauce was unevenly distributed. The only good thing was the grilled pork which was actually more like pork belly since it was so fatty. This would be one of the worst banh mi we had in LA. read more

I stopped by here on a whim because the stall I was trying to order from was closed and I'm glad I did. Came in for a Chicken Banh Mi. I asked the cashier if it was white or dark meat. She insisted it was white meat (which I prefer and hoped for) so I happily paid $21 for the sandwich & iced coffee. The sandwich was 80% shredded carrots and only a few small pieces of chicken per side that ended up being undercooked THIGH meat! Visited here on a relatively slow Thursday afternoon. They have 2 options for sando and we opted for their kaksu sando for $14. As a lover of all things ton-Katsu, Katsu sando here was below subpar... I was impressed at first from the enormous size of the sando, but I was quickly turned off from the first bite. The Katsu had a nice crispy exterior, but the pork was tough and chewy as if it has been sitting in their freezer for weeks. The pork also had no flavor, and they barely put any ton-Katsu sauce in the sando which would have gave it some taste profile. The cabbage salad was ok, although lot of the pieces were bitter. However, the most disappointing thing was their shokupan (Japanese milk bread). Most Katsu sandos I've tried usually have their crust cut, but they don't (which is fine). However, their bread was stale and dry, which didn't complement the katsu at all. Overall, I was mad at myself for picking this place. Yeah they might had an off day, but when you're at the grand central market that attracts many tourists, you should be on your A-game at all times since it will be a one-time experience for many people. Besides, the workers seemed annoyed that we were trying to order, maybe that's why this restaurant was dead when other places had lines forming constantly. read more

REVIEW FOR BOBA ONLY We kept spotting people having boba at the Grand Central Terminal (downtown LA's food hall) and wanted to try it. Found the spot in a hidden area after walking around many times. ORDERS * Thai Green Tea - tastes like Matcha with thai tea, which was not very palatable. * Brown Sugar Tea - tastes a bit diluted and watered down. Likely since it was 25% sweet. Living in Orange County currently, my standards are a bit elevated for boba and I was disappointed by the drink quality. The tea flavors were not very prominent especially with the thai green tea which was a very interesting flavor that I did not enjoy. Unless there was no good boba elsewhere or the good shops closed down, I would most likely not return for their drinks. A little stall in the middle of Grand Central Market. We got enticed by the pics both on Yelp and the promise of crispy katsu sandos at literally any moment of any day, so we obviously had to stop here. We got two sandwiches that were nicely halved to share and by god we gobbled that up. The beef was surprisingly hefty and super juicy - probably my favorite of the two. I love a good vegetarian banh mi, and this one looked like it was going to be at least interesting, if not exactly traditional (which is fine if it's done right!). I told them to leave the pate on - though I'm now what I guess you would call a flexitarian, I love pate enough to prefer to still have it even when the rest of the sandwich is vegetarian. Roasted wild mushrooms in turmeric and lemongrass. The 'roasted wild mushrooms in turmeric and lemongrass' tasted mostly of turmeric. I would have loved for there to be more lemongrass. I would have loved there to be more herbs in general, actually. Because they didn't pickle their carrot/daikon, the overall effect was a little muted. But it was still hearty, and pretty tasty. They give you a BUCKET of soda chanh, so if you're parched, by all means visit for that. read more

The famed katsu sando: Chicken was undercooked in sections (pink and gelatinous). It's a thick cutlet. If they're not attentive, you'll get breaded salmonella for $15. Garnish was weak. Flavor bland. Even ketchup would have partially rescued the situation. They don't have ketchup. White bread was not pillow-ey. That would have been a nice un toasted contrast to a crispy katsu construction w/ crunchy cabbage. $30 for two sandwiches is Grand Central Market pricing.
