We travel from St. Augustine to enjoy this amazing pizza! Ordering is a breeze at the front with a large, clear menu on the side wall. You can order many of their specialty pizzas by the slice. Slices are large & in charge (of my appetite)! Salads are generous as well with Bibb lettuce and lots of toppings. My Gorgonzola salad came with chopped walnuts, tomatoes, & plenty of Gorgonzola. Slices come on a pizza round if you dine in. Service is impeccable as I received a refill on my water with the exact number of lemon slices in my previous cup included on the side. Was nervous we wouldn't find good pizza when we moved here from NY, but this place was great! Fantastic crust, good sauce, perfect pepperoni (and I am picky about my pepperoni), and not too greasy. You can fold it but it doesn't flop. Also, the people working there were all as sweet as can be. We will definitely be back! Good, interesting pizza. We get in town a couple times a year and almost always end up here because we know we're going to get some good pizza. Our group always starts out with the T-Rex pizza, and that one can fill up even the most hearty of eaters. It tastes great and is loaded, and we love it. If I'm eating pizza, it's not going to be from a fast food pizza place such as Pizza Hut or Papa John's. My sister introduced me to this amazing pizza joint one weekend after an art fair. We ordered a large white pie and added meatballs for fun. They had IPA on draft which was perfect while we waited for the hand crafted pie. Watching these guys toss the dough made me truly admire their dedication to the traditional methods. Their effort comes through in the deliciousness of the pizza. Good god, that crust is fantastic and the entire pizza is beautifully assembled. The restaurant is comfortable and laid back. The servers looked to be having fun. The dough tossers looked to be having fun. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their gig and it was infectious. How can you be in a bad mood when an entire place is riding the high of awesome pizza? After eating at Moon River I refuse to touch any other pizza in Jacksonville. I'm a fan! Great lil pizza joint in Murray Hill, your belly will thank you later for trying it out. It's close to one of my stores on Edgewood and a friend tipped me off to the place. Nothing fancy in the inside but they do a solid job with pizzas, salads and calzones. They offer a handful of specialty house pies like The Special, T-Rex, Maui WOW-ee and the Vegetarian or you can make your own from the large list(25 to be exact) of toppings. Pizzas come in medium (14") , large (16") or by the slice. Slices are pretty hefty. Salads are Gorgonzola, Greek or House and come in half or full size portions. Dining room is pretty large but get there early because they have a heck of a lunch crowd. Service is amazing. The food doesn't take long to come out and the girls are all hustling to bring out food, clear old plates away and refill drinks as needed. Definitely one of my new "go to" lunch spots in Jville. read more

Our standard order is a large pizza that's half "Maui Wowee" and half "White" Pizza. It's the best of both worlds. On the Maui Wowee half your taste buds explode with the sweet taste of pineapple, ham, cheddar cheese with your choice of banana peppers or jalapenos. On the White pizza half your taste buds sing in ecstasy with the savory trifecta of mozzarella, feta, and parmesan cheese atop creamy garlic sauce. They have roomy booths or tables for dining in or you can call ahead and *skip* the long lines and just pick up at the "Call Ahead" register. While the pizza isn't cheap at $18.50 for a large, it reheats VERY well and leftovers are as exciting as when you first tasted it fresh! They do have weekly specials. Favorite pizza in Jax. Love the variety of toppings, as a garlic fiend I absolutely love getting fresh garlic on my slices. The calzones are huuuuuge and overstuffed with all the good stuff. Their pizza is made well with that perfect just made flavor that burns the roof of your mouth but it's totally worth it. I haven't ventured too far into their specialty pizzas but I love that you can get it as a slice; not the case in most places. The Veggie and THE pizza are my favorites. Crust is that balance of crunchy and soft on the inside--which is very and to find in Jacksonville. They have drafts beers too! I'm so glad Moon River Pizza decided to open a restaurant in Murray Hill many years ago. I really like that they've expanded the restaurant. This location is bigger than their Fernandina location. The trick is to come ahead of the crowd so you won't have to wait in a long line to order your food & to find a good seat. Before 11:15 am is best. Also less headache in finding street parking. My usual order is a slice of pizza with artichoke and a Gorgonzola salad. What keeps me from overeating is splitting the lunch special with my buddy, which is two slices & one drink, a good deal. Also I split the large salad. Their pizza dough is tasty & not too thick. I prefer thin crust having grown up in New York City. The staff is cool & friendly. Angelo one of their pizza chefs was so accommodating when I asked him if I could take a video of him rolling out the dough. I do wish the music was not so loud though. This place is ridiculously far from my everyday route, but they make some piping hot and fresh pizza. I really enjoyed their white pizza and their everything pizza was topped with fresh meat and veggies. Perhaps a bit greasy for my taste, but I'd stop in again. I got two (2) white slices and hubby got a white & "the pizza." They were sooo good, flavorful!! The crust of the pizza was soo good...it wasn't dry and usually I don't eat crusts but I sure did with these slices. The interior of the building is very clean and has some nice decorated touches. I have been to this location many times now so it was time for me to post my review. This spot is a huge favorite of my group of friends. We meet here regularly. We really like to go on Wednesdays for the half price beer and wine. Nothing quite hits the spot like pizza and beer! The pizza at moon river is top notch. I have lived in New Jersey so I can be a bit of a snob when it comes to pizza. In order for me to eat your pizza more than once, it has to be of supreme quality. The pizza here meets and exceeds that expectation. I think my favorite is the white pizza with tomatoes since I'm not a huge red sauce fan. The other pizzas looks really good but I would love to see a buffalo chicken pizza, I wish they would add that to the menu! If you aren't into pizza, that's ok too! They have a great greek salad and a few others as well. They often have specials where you can get half a salad with pizza or just the pizza and it's delicious and affordable. As far as the beer and wine, they have a very nice selection of the usual as well as local beers and wines. I am not a huge beer fan, but I have found many things there that I like. When in doubt, I get a moscato and they always have a pretty nice wine list. Last, but not least, the staff there is amazing. They don't have an issue taking the time to find something you like and make great recommendations especially with the beer and wine. They are attentive and friendly and the food comes pretty fast as is always correct. read more

I saw on The Zen Butcher Company FB page that they have vegan calzone with the Zen Butcher Italian vegan sausage as an option. "Sign me up" thought to myself. My husband and I hopped in the car and drove to Moon River Pizza asap. When it was our turn to order, I asked if they have the vegan calzone, to which the girl at the cash register responded "What's a calzone?". My husband and I looked at each other with our eyebrows raised all the way to our hairlines. Good thing another cashier stepped in and clarified that yes, they have calzone, vegan style. We ordered, sat in a booth, and waited for our food. It didn't take that long. It came out hot and was a sizable portion. We thought it was tasty. The line to order snaked through and in between tables. (Good sign) *The pizza itself is great. It by no means is the best in town and can't compare with NY but it does have some great taste. *The reason I come back is for the good pizza but more importantly the atmosphere.
