I've watched this place get built from the ground up, as it's on my commute. My work lunch bunch finally made our way there recently, and it was a great experience. The space has great seating and an expansive bar area, with lots of TVs and windows. It wasn't horribly loud during our visit, but it wasn't crowded, either, so I'm not sure what to expect at maximum capacity. But what of the food? After perusing the menu, I decided on the Loaded Burger with fries, cooked medium. It features two cheeses, an aged white cheddar and regular cheddar, along with red relish (kind of a fancy chunky ketchup), pickled mustard seed mayo, sautéed mushrooms, bacon, and BBQ sauce on a "everything" seeded bun. It was a bit messy, but delicious, with the bacon having a nice crunch and a juicy beef patty that was cooked just right. The fries were fresh cut, skin on, well seasoned, and plentiful. They weren't super crispy, but had a great flavor and were well browned. Overall, this was a nice dining experience, and not too bad on price for a newer, somewhat fancy place. I visited this place with friends for dinner. The customer service is top tier . It was particularly cold this night and the host brought me and my table warm towels. Very nice gesture. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. She recommended both my options, the Thai Chili Chicken and the Chipotle Mango Chicken. Both were a hit. Moxie's is FUN. A lot of FUN. Great, creative drinks (the avocado gimlet) that were so creative they reminded me why it's been a long time since I drank too much. (OOF) Food is very well prepared. I've had poutine before and am not a fan. Not because it's not good, but because it's not a favorite dish. However, Moxie's makes theirs with a very light au jus which makes it a much better dish all around. The tenderloin fillet will literally melt in your mouth and the sushi options ... oh goodness! IDK what it is with the Canadians, but between Earls and Moxie's, they're showing us that they can cook all things well. From comfort to creative with a twist, the food is top-notch. I enquired about reserving a party event there for 80 people and they said there is a tab minimum of $18,000. 18. Thousand. Dollars. Or $225 per person. I asked them point blank what kind of food do they serve here because I can't even spend that much at Pappa Bros Steakhouse even if I tried to eat and drink. Their menu items are $12-49 per plate. So basically, everyone needs to spend $176 to $213 per person in drinks. Or to be more clear, everyone needs to order a $200 bottle of wine or drink 11.6 to 13 cocktails at $15 per drink just to cover the minimum before taxes and gratuity. Oh my....I'm here on a Friday night. First off this place is heavily overpriced. If you want a protein(chicken, pork belly)added to a salad, lettuce wraps,ramen , EVEN NACHOS it is a big EXTRA charge of 6.50! So nachos here is $22 with chicken added. Even though the nachos are claiming to be one pound nachos. Also, never heard of pork belly being extra for Ramen, in which, it is always included. Moxie's would charge $12 for a peanut butter sandwich then $6.50 for the jelly. Now the decor of the place is beautiful as well as the lime green booths. The bar was empty, but that did not stop the server from quickly greeting me and for being so nice. She got me a paper dinner a drink menu. I'd already had dinner, so my eyes went straight to their cocktails. I asked about the rosé sangria and she said it was delicious and it was! Super refreshing and I loved the fresh strawberries and oranges. It wasn't too strong either, but you could taste a hint of the rosé and the deep eddy peach! It was our first visit for date night for Valentines Day dinner. The dumpling appetizer was amazing the mango corn chutney was spot on. The Caesar salad came with the entree which was odd. The filet wasn't cooked correctly so my dates food became cold and no apology. The chef came out with a scowl said "try it see if it's what you want" intimidated me - it was more rare than requested but I ate it and it was just ok. The plate was really not appealing for $41. We didn't stay long and the bill needdd to be adjusted for the third steak (corrected one) which took awhile. They charged $1.50 for mushrooms. Why not host add the few on top? Something went really wrong with this place the last time we went. Came in at 5pm and the restaurant was mostly empty, but they decided to seat us at a table right next to the door. It was a cold day and the restaurant was not heated. Even wearing a sweater and heavy winter coat, I was freezing the whole time. It took our waitress 25 minutes to take our order. I ordered the nachos with beef topping. Around 10 minutes later, the waitress came back and said they don't have the beef topping for the nachos and asked if I want chicken instead. I told her that's impossible since half of the menu is beef and steak items. She said something like "well we don't have the beef for the nachos" and I again told her that's impossible. She said she'd go check with the chef. Ridiculous! Around 5 minutes later, she came back and said it turns out they do have the beef topping for the nachos. Now it's been 40 minutes and no food. Waited almost a full hour, took a look around and noticed that almost none of the tables around us had gotten any food since we'd been there. Clearly something wrong with their operations and we decided to just leave and go someplace else. For food, I ended up ordering the Chicken Madeira Rigatoni, which is supposed to be one of their popular dishes. The noodles were undercooked, and were harder than they were soft. After warming this up the following day, I realized there was minimum cheese but instead just a bunch of grease. Co-workers tried the Red Thai Curry bowl, and were disappointed as it was entirely too salty. The broccoli soup was said to have a burnt after taste. The white chocolate brownie was by FAR the driest brownie I've had. Ever. Overall, no one was really happy with their entrees or desert. So.
