The oysters were fantastic - such a big variety to try and so fun. Service was great. Line was pretty long on a week night around 6:30pm, we waited about 45 min in line. I heard there was no line around 6pm that day. Other dishes ordered: Spanish octopus: it looked fabulous, but flavor profile was not my favorite. The sauce was very buttery/oily but lacked depth in flavor imo. It was greasy, mushy and bland at the same time. Octopus itself was pretty good. Lobster pasta: enjoyable overall but the lobster tasted rubbery/overcooked. It might be better if they just toss the lobsters in towards the end instead of cooking it so much. The lobster meat portion was very generous. Overall, I was not disappointed, but also I wasn't super impressed.
Oyster bar with very tight squeezing seats. Can see the shucker shucking oysters in front of the store. Only came for oysters and heard they were fresh! They have a list of the oysters available and come with an accurate tasting profile to them. We got the Neptune pearl, katama bay, unicorn, and beausoleli. The Neptune pearl was our favorite due to the sweet butter finish. We did prefer the medium salt oysters. The razor clam was also amazing. The razor clam casino came with small bacon pieces, chili oil, and parsley. The clam was cut into pieces paired with a tasty oil. Place is very busy and crowded. Came at an off peak hour and didn't wait long. Quick bite for some oysters.
A Boston must-try, Neptune's is a tiny restaurant (like, 20-25 people max seating) that will very likely have a line when you arrive. Unless you wanna wait an hour or so, it's best to arrive 30min before they open to beat the rush. It's incredibly cramped and rushed inside, and you may need to share a table with others if you're a smaller party. Food is quite pricey but well worth it. We ordered the oysters (they've got a variety so you can choose), clam chowder, lobster roll, cioppino, and johnnycake. Oysters were fine, but the clam chowder was absolutely dismal. Not sure what happened, especially since it's so highly rated, but it was extremely watery and almost completely unseasoned. It could've definitely used salt at the very least. If I didn't know it was from Neptune, I'd have given it a 2/10. To my relief, the lobster roll was the total opposite. Succulent, juicy, heavenly. It was like being in Maine. The cioppino was also very good. The Johnnycake was an interesting but fun way to end the meal. It's a sweet pancake-like cornmeal covered in a syrupy glaze and topped with smoked bluefish paste, crème fraiche and caviar. I've never had anything like it. Nothing was super overpriced, but I personally prefer next door (Paulini's), which is much cheaper and while it isn't as good, it also doesn't require waiting in an hour in line. However, I think Neptune's is definitely worth a try as long as you're willing to wait in line.
I visited Neptune Oyster on a Tuesday and found a line out the door, as expected. I thought the wait was just to put my name down, but the hostess came by asking everyone for the size of their party. Because I was a solo diner, I was able to skip the entire line and got seated at the bar right away! The restaurant was small and cozy, with a classic New England vibe. Sitting at the bar was awesome, because I had a front-row seat to watch oyster shucking. I was given a little checklist with the raw bar offerings, and chose one of each of the east coast oyster varieties (9 in total). I don't have a refined palate for oysters, so I can't say I fully grasped the listed tasting notes, but all 9 were fresh and delicious! I also got the hot Maine Lobster Roll, which was phenomenal. I loved the generous heaps of lobster and warm buttered bun. Overall, Neptune Oyster was a pricey dinner for one, but a fantastic experience!
Very yummy seafood! We waited about 45 min at 5 pm on a Sunday evening (holiday weekend). It was very cozy in there and we shared a table with other people but we didn't mind. We ordered a bunch of raw oysters, a lobster roll, a cioppino with lobster on top, and a burger (my husband wanted to try it). The oysters were delicious and the lobster on the roll and in the cioppino was excellent. My favorite dish was the cioppino - what a delicious variety of seafood and so filling too!!
Food: Mussels and the lobster spaghetti were 11/10, no complaints! The burgers also looked phenomenal. Service: I found some of the waitstaff to be overly aggressive. While I understand the restaurant is small, crowded, and very busy, being told to move and move my bag could've been said to me in a much nicer way.
Worth the wait! Every time I go to Boston, I try to make a visit to Neptune. They don't take reservations and there is always a line but it moves quickly. Inside is cozy with only a few booths and bar seating. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable on their menus. I went on Sunday this time when they had lobster tacos as the special of the day, so I had to try and was not disappointed. There was so much lobster in each of the tacos!! The oysters were fantastic as well.
There was already a short line outside Neptune Oyster even before they opened on a Tuesday--so I was glad I arrived early! I started with littleneck clams and a glass of Lambrusco, then followed with the lobster roll--because it just felt mandatory while in Boston. It was a generous heap of buttered lobster on a pillow-soft brioche. There was so much lobster, I needed a knife and fork to tackle it. At $43, it's definitely a splurge, but absolutely worth it. Every dish I saw pass by looked incredible. I almost wished I had shared the roll so I could try more of the menu.
This place is in the top 10 restaurants we have ever been a patron at. The service is always top notch, the servers are friendly, informative and knowledgeable. The small space is cozy without feeling crowded and the food is always amazing. We never miss a chance to stop here when we are in Boston. 11 outta 10 recommend. The prices may seem a little scary at first but the quality and presentation warrants them. Do not skip a stop here.
Long line, long wait, limited seating. We came after 6pm and there were already about 20 people in line on a weekday. Food was pretty good but prices were a bit outrageous, especially the daily specials. Perhaps that is why prices were not listed for them. Noise level and service were typical of a smaller but busy restaurant.

Oysters oysters and more oysters from Washington state Maine Maryland to name a few. We ordered west coast varieties including the velvety Kumamoto! Calamari was super fresh like everything we ordered. The johnnycake with smoked fish and caviar was a great last course with hot honey butter drizzled over the top! Service is quick as the line outside can be long with eager customers who want to experience Neptune! Be prepared to share community tables and meet new friends as the cozy place is ideal for this!! read more

If you're looking to find out why life is worth living, go to Neptune Oyster and indulge in the finest & freshest seafood flavor bombs on the menu. This place always has a line out the front door and it's worth the wait. This place is recommended on local foodie forums all the time. I have never had finer oysters in my life and I'll likely dream about the meal I had there for the next week. My 2 friends and I ordered lemon for our waters (wine is between $39-89 and glasses are $16 each) and got 12 oysters picked from the menu and enjoyed the tasting notes of the 4 different varieties we got. Expertly shucked. Then we shared the mussels fra diavolo and continued our heavenly flavor journey. So well spiced and fresh. We even got more bread to sop up the broth. And we ended with sharing the lobster caprese salad with fresh lobster pieces, torn burrata, and wild colored cherry tomatoes halved all coated in a delicious pesto. The most epic meal I've had in years. And it was only $105 before tip for 3 people. read more

Visiting from california - waited about 80 minutes to be seated at the bar! My friend and I loved the vibes inside. Felt like a small low key jazz bar. The service was great. Oysters were phenomenal..... we tried quite a few of them on the menu. Lobster rolls.... lobster was very chewy and the fries were a little soggy. It was a nice experience but I wouldn't wait that long in line again. (per people around us, the line was short in comparison to other days) read more
Amazing, top-quality seafood - I'd almost say it was worth the wait, though if we had to wait over an hour versus about 25 minutes, I might be singing a different tune. The space inside is smaller than expected, so I could see how in the colder months, there'd be a long line, but they've also set up some nice outdoor seating. (Please come here by foot or public transit, there was no easy parking that I could see and the area is so busy, not sure I'd brave street parking unless I absolutely had to.) We started with the oysters, which absolutely blew my mind. Perfectly shucked, not a hint of shell, lots of juice left behind. We ordered a bunch of the medium-large and a mix of East Coast/West Coast, and, unlike quite a few oysters that I've consumed in New York (which tend to be on the puny side), packed quite a mouthful. I could have eaten 50 of these. Order some oysters and fries and a glass of wine and that's quite a meal. Also tried their clam chowder. Saltie Girl's version still reigns supreme. Neptune's was more watery and could have used a touch more seasoning. We added a few lashings of hot sauce, which upped the flavor (I used to loathe hot sauce with chowder but I'm now a convert). The Maine Peekytoe Crab salad was a beautiful combination of radish, crab, avocado, butter lettuce. The $29 price tag for a salad was a little frightening but they gave a ton of crab. In fact, the salad was like 70% crab. This is a light, refreshing option, though the capers and the dressing combined made it too acidic - I ate all of it anyway. We had to order the hot lobster roll. It was delicious, toasted a golden brown, stuffed with chunks of lobster, though I could only eat a few bites, since the butteriness got too heavy. I'd love to try the cold version. They give you the option of fries versus arugula, and of course we got the fries and basically cleaned the plate. The fries were excellent, the chunkier, super crispy kind. The fries and the oysters alone make coming here worth it. Our waitress, while absolutely slammed, was really friendly and seemed to take true delight in interacting with customers. Quite a few solo diners who came in for a glass of wine and oysters and a book, which actually sounds like peak self-care. Can't wait to come back and try more, like the razor clams and the burger. They also have daily specials (regret not getting the uni bucatini). read more
the wait here was insane - granted, i came on a weekend evening but i'm pretty sure it was well over an hour. people in the line cheered every time someone managed to get in, lol. the food was absolutely worth it though! to start, we had a variety of delicious fresh oysters with mignonette and cocktail sauces. it was actually my first time having raw oysters and they were delicious. this was followed by their mussels with nduja which was actually my favorite dish of the night... the sauce was ridiculously addictive, i was extremely tempted to just drink it. the lobster roll (which is what i really came here for) was as tasty as advertised - a ton of lobster on a soft buttery roll. service was friendly considering how busy they were and the prices very reasonable. my main complaint besides the wait time would be how loud the music is inside the restaurant - it's impossible to have a proper conversation - but the food is good enough for me to overlook that. overall a really great experience and this will definitely be a first pitstop the next time i come back to boston. read more
I am in Boston for a medical meeting and this part of town is my usual go to for Italian food and sea food and since I was eating solo and opted for an early dinner I figured I'd just cue up outside Neptune Oyster given the great Yelp reviews speaking to the fresh seafood offerings and shellfish options. I waited less than 15-30 minutes outside and was seated at the oyster bar area surrounded by other diners. I ordered the Ipswich belly fried clams (market price was a little steep IMhO but they were yummy belly clams at about $33/half pound). My main dish was the seafood cioppino and the broth was a little bland but all of the seafood in the bowl was delicious highlights included the 3 types of seafood fillet (salmon, white fish / cod etc) and the clams. The mussels were decent but I had a few that never opened. The side of bread was kinda crusty dry and may have been sliced earlier in the day which was unfortunate. I just passed on it. The base of the cioppino had yellow rice which was fine. Overall decent meal. I would have liked the broth to have been a little spicier and I would have probably passed on the fried clams next time and gotten the raw fish special ($19) starter. I can see why this place can be worth the wait as they don't take reservations. Popular seafood location, especially for raw bar. Great selection of oysters and in-house specials. For food we had the following: - Oyster: Neptune, Pocomo and Bayside. - Lobster roll with arugula salad. - Scallop ceviche!! Overall great experience, would recommend, but do come earlier prior to dinner time as the place fills up quickly. read more
Cute hole-in-the-wall seafood restaurant in the North End. As the sign on the door says, you're supposed to wait outside and someone will come out to greet you. We saw several parties being told to wait outside, so for whatever reason people don't seem to notice the sign... We sat at the tiny bar, elbow to elbow with our dining neighbors. It was compact and cozy on the inside, and sitting at the bar was pretty nice compared to the really tiny tables. We had the crudo special to start, local oysters and the mackerel. One thing that stood out was the use of pomegranate seeds! They paired so well with the citrus flavors of the crudo, and they were also present in a salad we got, but I forgot to picture! We also got a bottle of white wine that was delicious and paired well with the seafood dinner. Will definitely keep this on my Boston restaurant list for next time I'm in town! read more
Alright, soooo.... before y'all Neptune Oyster fans come for me about my 3 star rating, let me just say this: The lobster roll is good. Good, but not great. I wasn't blown away by anything here and this includes the service and ambience. It was average at best for me. I can honestly say that I've tasted better lobster rolls on my side of the country (aka California). Could have been a one off experience, but it definitely left much to be desired. We came here on a whim in hopes of snagging a table after several locals told us that we had to try this place. Neptune Oyster was already one of my Yelp bookmarks and also highly rated, but the recommendations from the locals is what made us bite the bullet. Of course it was packed, but there was a much shorter wait for seats at the bar. We were seated at the bar within 10 minutes. Let me just say, this place is hella cramped and tiny! No wonder there's always a wait. There isn't a ton of space to really accommodate many people. However, I do enjoy the less crowded/more intimate kind of setting. Our bartender was really sweet but also a bit pushy. I asked to taste one of the wines and she poured me a splash. Didn't end up liking it, and she recommended another wine. Before I could even tell her if I wanted it, she was already pouring up my glass. And of course, this so happened to be a $20+ glass of wine that wasn't even on the menu. The prices are very high here and they just didn't quite match up to the quality in my opinion. We both ordered lobster rolls and shared the razor clams appetizer. The razor clams were very tasty. They were garnished with a plethora of fragrant herbs and spices. The lobster rolls are served Maine style which is basically naked atop of a split top bun. The lobster roll was definitely meaty and stacked for the Gawds, but it was surprisingly pretty dry. The lobster meat wasn't as moist as I'm used to. Plus, the split top bun wasn't grilled or buttery at all. I can't remember if they initially provided butter, but I did ask for some. But the bun literally soaked all of the butter like a sponge. The bread was too dry. I'm used to it being super moist and buttery and this just wasn't the case. The lobster roll was still solid though. They also give you an ish ton of fries and you will definitely feel full from all of those carbs. I did leave full but felt like the lobster roll should have tasted way better for the price that we paid. Ultimately, the place is overhyped. Not saying that I wouldn't come back again, but I would ditch the lobster roll to try something else. And hopefully that something else will be much better. read more
Well worth the wait for the lobster roll. Have a friend who grew up in Boston who told me to go here and it was as good as advertised. Fries were insane good too. Clam chowder was good, but next time I'll just stick to the lobster roll as it was plenty of food. It's a small place and there is a wait, but it moves pretty quick. The service was fast and friendly as well. Definitely hit this place for a lobster roll if you are in town. Next time I want to try the tacos. read more
5's across the board - omg, I'm considering going back for lunch today. I did I went back They don't take reservations but we went at the perfect time, between lunch and dinner and only waited max 15 minutes. Chatted with a local couple who visit the restaurant at least twice a week, which is always a great sign. We had the bluefin crudo and based off looks alone my expectations were low. Wrongggg, don't judge a book by its cover. The contrast between the olives and olive oil is phenomenal and the fish was so fresh - moreeeee. We also had oysters and although they all were Uber fresh and tasty the island creek were so great that I wanted a dozen no I didn't order a dozen at least not on the first visit The burger GET THE BURGER AND MAKE NO ADJUSTMENTS. This was absolutely top of burger list, like anywhere I go from here I need relish and fried oysters on my burger or I don't want it We also had the ciopinno and clam chowder. The ciopinno was tasty and filling as the use rice as a base. I wasn't a fan of the clam chowder as it was watery and missing something. The next day we tried the hot lobster roll and fried clams and both were delicious I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK. Fantastic food and vibe. The best lobster rolls. The line is long, even before the restaurant opens so I recommend going early -- the restaurant is very tiny and there are shared tables. The lobster rolls are filled with lobster -- I preferred the cold one, but the hot one was also delicious. read more
Delicious! A must for your Boston itinerary. It is located in Bostons north end with a consistent line out the door. They do not take reservations. Interior is a little divey and cozy but it's all part of the charm. Service is quick and helpful especially if it's your first time. They have a great selection of fresh oysters and a warm or cold lobster roll. read more

YUM! Be prepared to wait 60+ minutes. I was a solo traveler and stood in line for about 45min. I would really only recommend groups of 4 or less because it seemed like any more guests, you were waiting a loooooong time. I ordered all the local-to-MA oysters and was able to see them chuck it right in front of me. Ordered the lobster roll and clam chowder. All were good but nothing to die over. The oysters, though, were amazing and so fresh and juicy. Definitely discovered my favorite oyster here, and wish I would have ordered more! Prices are fair to what I would think fresh and loyal oysters to be priced at. Definitely enjoyed my time here and would love to come back for the fresh oysters! read more

After reading many amazing reviews, we decided to brace the wait and give this place a try during a quick trip to Boston. It definitely lived up to its reputation. Disclaimer: there are waits and it is very small and cramped inside. So, review time, the seafood was very fresh and came out relatively quickly. Being my first time in Boston, I knew I had to try the lobster roll. It was as I expected, buttery, warm, delicious and CHUNKY! The amount of lobster given is generous. So sweet and soft. Some of the best lobster I've had in a long time. Speaking of, the special lobster caprese was the favorite by far. It was 50$ and well worth it. You get a HEAPING portion and it's wonderfully dressed. I never thought about combining caprese with lobster but it truly works. Fresh, vibrant, texturally sound, colorful and sooo satisfying. The calamari was also good (I'm not a huge fan of fried things) and the fry wasn't overwhelmingly oily and the breading was thinner, so that was nice. My mother ordered the whole belly clams (she had been dying for them) and loved them. Their tartare sauce looked incredibly fresh and thick, k assume homemade. The only disappointment was the clam chowder. Do not expect a traditional thick New England clam chowder, this was more watery than anything and the flavor was almost just like a seafood broth. I missed the hardiness in the richness of a traditional clam chowder. Definitely needed more salt too. Our server was very fast and efficient and knowledgeable. She was eager to help our party of six make appropriate decisions. The place itself is so small, but aesthetically pleasing and gives an old time vibe. The nautical decorations were cute, and I love their bar set up. All in all, we spent close to $400 for a lunch. Here in a big city and having seafood, I wouldn't expect much less. I will say that is not for everyone, but if you're looking for a good seafood in Boston it is definitely worth a try. Mind you, we also had drinks and ordered a lot of food. You could easily go there for an individual lunch and spend far less. read more
Okay, this place opened at 11 AM on Monday so my friends and I booked it. We got here at around 11:20 AM and waited in line for a total of 2 minutes and secured the bar seating outside (a bit squished and uncomfortable), but happy to not wait in line for 3+ hours. I'd definitely recommend getting here at opening if you don't want to wait in line and grab a good spot. My friends and I were pretty excited since everyone talks about how amazing this restaurant is, Boston locals and tourists. Our server handed us the oyster menu (which also included clams, mussels, etc.) which was pretty extensive. It came with helpful descriptions of what to expect in terms of size, salinity, and finish for each type of oyster. There were a lot of finishes that sounded interesting like "buttery" or "honeydew". One of my friends and I ordered various different oysters to sample! OYSTERS - about $3 per oyster NEPTUNE PEARL and EAST BEACH BLONDE oysters were my favorite of the 10 oysters I had ordered to sample (probably because I liked the texture and crunch of the two). Neptune Pearl is probably their standard oyster too, and our server also said it was her favorite. It's funny because those were the two cheapest oysters I had ordered ($2.90 each), which probably means I don't have a refined palette for oysters. While I could tell each of them tasted different from the other, I couldn't taste any of the finish they had mentioned. Champagne? Sweet brine? All of this went over my head, lol. The oysters were fresh and tasty, but I really couldn't tell the difference. I ordered a teeny-tiny oyster (KUMAMOTO) and I don't think it was worth it for a noob like me to try. It was $4 and less than 1/4 of a bite. NANTUCKET STRIPED BASS - 35 When I was here, they told me it was the black bass, not striped bass. It was still tasty! I thought the bass was very fresh but was a bit overcooked (wasn't as soft as I was hoping) and it went super well with the Fava bean succotash and Chatham kelp butter. The vegetables and corn gave it a good crunch and I was surprised to find snow pea shoots in the dish. It was delicious! The clams and pancetta were nice touches. My friends enjoyed their NORTH END CIOPPINO and the Monday special LOBSTER SPAGHETTINI (too much pasta though). This place isn't cheap and my total after tax and tip is the amount of groceries I consume in about a week. It was great checking out and I'm glad my friends and I didn't have to wait too long in line. A lot of people said it's "worth" the 3 hour wait. For me, while Neptune Oyster was quite good and worth the try, I would not be too happy waiting for more than 30 minutes in line. If I come back in the future, I would want to share the N.O.B CLAMBAKE with someone since that looked fantastic (but sadly too big for me to consume on my own). read more
The wait was around 20min for us so it's not too too bad. We enjoyed the food and service there because even though it was so busy, they were still friendly and helpful. We ordered: - Wednesday special (clam & bottarga) - 4/5 very fresh and unique cus we never get to have bottarga anywhere else - MA bag bluefin haricot beets - 4/5 surprisingly good for a salad! But maybe try out other things first - lobster roll (warm with butter) - 4/5 it is very good. The lobster has a hint of sweetness to it and it was so creamy with the butter roll. The fries is a bit meh tho. read more

Neptune lives up to the hype! This popular restaurant is small and lines form early. We showed up at 10:45 on a weekday and were in the first seating. The service was friendly and welcoming. We sat at the bar and I admired the raw bar with fresh oysters on display. We ordered two lobster rolls, one hot and one cold, along with oysters, clam chowder and the best scallops ever! I liked the casual, fun ambiance. Highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Top notch, must try place in Boston! Listen, if you're by Faneuil hall, skip the seafood there and come straight here. 100% worth the wait. Parking: street side Reservations: they don't take any, wait was about an hour on the weekend. One person in the party must wait in line at all times. Seating: This place is best for a couple or smaller groups. Seats about 25 at tables and another 15 at the bar. They will take larger groups but might take longer (much longer) to seat. Service: We sat at the bar and Roxy was great! Made us feel welcomed and had great recommendations based off of what we enjoy. Even went beyond and hearted her favorite oysters on the sheet (see oyster pic) Food: The seafood is delicious (especially coming from someone who spent the last 28 years hating seafood). Everything tasted fresh and clean. The fried clams were to die for! The oysters went down easy and you can actually taste the difference in them. My boyfriend & I both thought the warm lobster roll was just okay because we have had sweater ones recently. The star here is the uni! Must try! Cost: approx $225 for 2 including 3 drinks, uni & oysters, fried clams, and lobster roll with 25% tip. Will 100% be back regardless of the wait! read more
I visited this location between Christmas and New Years week. They don't take reservations and The place is very small so they make you wait outside in line and as people leave they bring in people. I went during lunch and dinner so the line wasn't as long and we got seated at the bar within 25 minutes. The raw bar is set up in front of the window so everyone standing in line can watch the employees shuck the oysters. We ordered a variety of oysters and clams and everything was fresh salty and briny like they just pulled them from the ocean. Afterwards we ordered hot lobster rolls with butter. The lobster was Maine lobster and included not just knuckle and claws but the tail as well. One of the best lobster rolls I've had. The service was very good as they are trying to turn tables quickly. Overall 5 stars read more

Well, I did it! I waited 45 minutes in line and got into Neptune Oyster. I was dining alone so I got a bar counter seat. I ordered the Lobster Roll with arugula salad. (Yes, I could have got the fries but I wanted to be a little bit healthlier.) The roll and the amount of lobster in it was very generous --- as is the arugula salad. I savored each bite --- it was delicious. Well worth the wait in my opinion. Service was good --- the woman who served me behind the counter was very friendly and efficient --- and very busy as there is a big crowd there. Every table and every seat is full and there never seems to be a lull. The ambience of the restaurant --- very buzzy and very friendly patrons. The 45 minute wait went quickly because I was chatting to people in line next to me. Everybody was excited about eating there. The price for the lobster roll is steep: $39++. I figured to eat one of the best lobster rolls in the US it was worth it. Next time I might get the oysters, which looked amazing. (FYI, I saw people ask about takeout and they don't seem to do it. Another icon gem that we were recommended on our girls trip to Boston that we must try! It was sooo worth the line and wait (which wasn't bad, only 30 mins or so) and it moves fast. It's a tiny resturant packed to the bones, but the food is out of this world. I have tried many lobster dishes, but the Maine lobster roll at Neptunes had to be the BEST lobster I've ever tasted. So rich, meaty, and seasoned to perfection on top of the brioche bread that I just wanted so much more. You can't come here without getting the lobster roll. It comes with arugula salad or fries. Busy spot! We were recommended to try this place by some friends from the area. They open at 11. We got there early and there was a line! Some people had guidebooks with them so maybe their books also recommended the place. They have fresh oysters as well as a selection of seafood bites. We got some oysters and razor clams, a tuna tartare crostini, and the special pumpkin crab bisque. The bisque was slightly sweet with lumps of crab. Tasty and creamy. My brother's coworker recommended us to try this place while we were in Boston so we stopped by on a Friday night for dinner. Oysters - I wish I was able to have some! I'm 6 months pregnant and couldn't have any, but both my mom and brother LOVED them! Burger - the burger was absolutely delicious! Juicy and full of flavor! I stumbled upon this place after a highly recommended seafood place was closed for a private event. The Yelp reviews looked promising and there was a line out the door at 7:30 on a random Wednesday evening. The restaurant is small, loud, crowded, and difficult to maneuver through the tight seating. Half of the restaurant has bar seating. I waited for over an hour and was starving by the time I was seated. I ordered the clam chowder and the lobster roll with fries. The chowder was watery in consistency and the flavor was lacking. I tried a few spoonfuls but couldn't muster up the courage to continue to eat it. I would NOT recommend the clam chowder. The lobster roll was good, I opted for the hot version with butter. There was plenty of lobster meat and the fries were fresh and a great way to complement the roll. Unfortunately, the following day I fell sick to my stomach. I am confident, I experienced my first food poisoning incident from here. I will never return to Neptune and do NOT recommend anyone else to visit either. read more

Yes Must-try: Lobster Roll Their hot lobster roll is the stuff of legends and boy, did it live up to the hype! Overflowing with loads of fresh, flavorful lobster, the price was justified, no doubt. Each succulent chunk had me doing a happy dance, and that soft bun held up like a champ. They throw in some bomb fries too. I kept devouring lobster like there was no bottom to this roll! Now, a squeeze of lemon would've sent it over the moon, but I still think the $38 were beyond worth it. Be prepared to make a line outside (there's always one since they don't take reservations). I'm giving Neptune Oyster a solid 4.3 out of 5 (and I want to go back for the oyster burger). read more

Very few tables means you need to queue up for quite a while. They don't take reservations. I had the tuna appetizer which was fine, but I wasn't crazy about it. The hot lobster roll was tasty, but not the best I had in Boston. read more

Very small place and they only let in as many as they have seats for. I had the crab salad and oysters, my friends had a hot and a cold lobster roll. They said the hot was better but everything was delicious!!! Service was very good at bar read more

Great spot, understand it'll be busy and space is a premium. Not recommended for plus sized diners as you won't be comfortable and people around you won't be comfortable. Our waitress was fantastic. Would also recommend the white wine from Santorini to pair with the oysters. read more

When we were there, they did not offer this. Everyone just had to wait in line along the sidewalk. The line moved pretty quickly though.
Do they automatically add 20% of the tip on every customer's bill?
they did mine. "because take away takes a lot of time and takes time away from waiting tables".
Will it open during thanksgiving?
There open day before. Thursday will be Quiet in the area..

I've gone on a Friday around 3pm and there was almost no wait (10-15 min), unfortunately 4-5pm or the later you get the wait is usually impossible.

I don't think for inside. The restaurant is small. There is outside seating when I visited.
