I'm a truck driver, I come to Denton quite frequently and have always eaten here. Today was very disappointing. I was eating and there was a hair in my fried rice. The waitress was not even concerned or worried that there was HAIR in my food. The manager was the same. Not sure what restaurant some of the other reviewers went to. We have thoroughly enjoyed this place every time we have gone. We had birthday, family lunch this past Sunday. With the large variety of choices, everyone could get what they wanted, including one kid who only eats rice and another who really likes the dessert bar. (I went for the salt and pepper shrimp.) Everything we had was good and tasted fresh to me. The restaurant was clean. The service staff was positive and helpful. Definitely one of our go-to places in Denton. read more

Not sure why the low reviews. Seems to be a typical Chinese buffet. Looked nice and clean inside. Pleasant atmosphere. A good selection of food and all had good portions available. Some of the dishes were a little bland, but everything tasted fresh. As usual at a buffet, we ate more than we needed to. Definitely full when we left. Price was super reasonable. I was not impressed when I ate here for the first time last year. But I'm really glad I decided to give it a second chance. The staff was so sweet and attentive and the food was absolutely delicious. Most Chinese buffets have terrible crawfish but that wasn't the case here! The don't let the crawfish soaking and they're large! They were juicy, spicy, and well seasoned. there was a small crowd forming just because of it. Everything else was delicious as well. There were these mini fried crab cakes that was so juicy and crunchy I highly recommend this buffet!! I don't think buffets are worth it because they're usually lower quality and I don't stuff myself, but that's definitely not the case with this buffet! read more

This establishment is not ADA friendly. A disabled woman and her husband went to eat there. This woman has a service dog, which is allowed in establishments, were forced to leave. They were also told they didn't care about ADA Laws after the woman explained what a service dog was and it was allowed by the ADA. They were told they could come back without the service dog. So this was one of the BEST buffets we have eaten at...ever! EVERYTHING we tried was excellent! Not sure why some gave this such bad reviews unless it's because it was under old management. We REALLY enjoyed the food, fresh sushi, fresh hard ice cream, octopus (not that I tried it!) but really a huge place (with 6 bars plus the cooking grill for fresh stir-fry and the ice creams). Extremely rude! My family went there with my parents. My husband wanted to pay the bill and asked a male employee at the front, who he assumed to be a manager, if he could go ahead and get the check to pay. The worker/manager gave him a bad look and told my husband that he was not the waitress and that if he wanted to pay he would have to go find his waitress. We were appalled by the laziness & rude attitude. The guy was wearing the employee uniform so he obviously worked there. This is the worst Chinese food in Denton, possibly in the entire DFW area. I've worked in food service, so I have taken the classes and know how a restaurant is supposed to be run, and this is not it. The steam trays were not of adequate temperature to keep food hot enough to kill pathogens. The food was not fresh. It was dried out and old, including the "sushi" which I would not advise anyone to eat even one bite of. Both my wife and I were made ill by the food even though we couldn't bring ourselves to finish the meal. Of the chinese buffet places in Denton, this one is my favorite. The food is better than Buffet King -- better vegetable and sushi choices and ice cream too, gotta have ice cream at the chinese buffet. My vegetarian girlfriend says her choices are best here, as she can just eat whole mangoes while I chow down on sweet chicken dishes. The food is on par with Chinatown Cafe and the service a bit less detailed but still adequate, the price is significantly cheaper which gives it the win. This place beats Buffet King in all aspects. Additionally, I've never seen this place suffer from a wait before seating, which eliminates most of the "I don't want to pick what to eat and I want it now" appeal of a buffet. read more

My friends and I came here on move-in day we were so hungry and thought a buffet was the way to go after not having a decent meal since 9:00 AM and it was now 9:00 PM. The environment was very calm and quiet which we could appreciate. We each got the egg drop soup which was good. There is also a sushi bar that had a lot of variety and were actually pretty good. The service was not great but not bad it was average. After trying out plenty of the foods available they were okay nothing was great EXCEPT for the coconut glazed shrimp they were AMAZING!!! read more

Last night I enjoyed a wonderful meal at the New China King Buffet -- incredible choices and food. I've been looking for a place that does a good job with their tempura vegetables, and the zucchini was FABULOUS! I tried several meats and all were tender and tasty. They use lots of spices, so if you don't like 'hot' stuff, be careful. There are about 6 separate food counters, so it's tough to taste everything -- you get full too soon (guess that's a nice reason to return, huh!). They've really changed the atmosphere -- the previous place seemed a little dingy, but the new owners have it sparkling with new tile floors and nice furniture. Frankly, there's not a Chinese restaurant in Denton that blows me away in terms of food quality, not like some in other cities. Having said that, this is one of the better options for me. Selections I regularly eat and enjoy include the fried rice, lo mein noodles, sesame chicken, General Tso's chicken, sweet and sour chicken, bourbon chicken, crab stuffing on a shell, baked salmon and buttered shrimp. My one complaint is that sometimes the meat around the edges of the heated metal tub becomes dry, which would not happen if the staff would occasionally stir the meat, but I do this myself when I go there and will not take away a star only for that one complaint. I usually get take-out from here, but I did eat here once with my brother when he visited; and we were both satisfied with the meal. read more

This is a good buffet but was better a year ago. It is starting to slide in my opinion. The sushi bar is above average for a buffet. It includes fresh spring rolls and a peanut sauce which you don't normally see. There is an Hibachi grill and it is okay but very very average. For the regular buffet items they have most of the standards but have made some curious decisions in the last year and some things. The used to have glass noodles that were my daughters favorite and now just have lo mein. They have a chocolate fountain but dropped the strawberries - odd, right? So it is cantaloupe or marshmallows. They added pomegranates in their place recently and they sit untouched all night. On weekends they have crab legs, crawfish, clams and oysters. Sounds good right? The crab is good and the crawfish especially good. But they don't know how to shuck and clean the clams or oysters (in particular) so there tends to be a lot of grit. There also is no horseradish for the oysters. They do have real ice cream, 6-8 flavors, which is not too common at a buffet. The interior is probably the worst you will find at any buffet in town except for maybe Golden Corral. The carpet being dirty is the biggest thing. It is really unfortunate. We have been going here for a while. My daughter liked several items and enjoyed the ice cream after dinner but they are really dropping the ball. The place needs a deep cleaning for once. But it is also the little things like oddly having the noodles and strawberries permanently gone from the buffet and some days just not having all of the other items and using terrible replacements. The server gave us our tab, we payed and left and heard hollering from behind us as we were walking to our car. Been to this place a couple of times, while the food is generally decent, When I went recently, I found a splinter of wood in one of my chicken pieces. This wasn't the chicken on a stick either. I've been eating here for years (mostly take-out), which is always made fresh, not taken off the buffet. Consistent favorites are the House Special Fried Rice (with beef, chicken, pork and shrimp), the fried chicken wings, crab rangoons and the fried shrimp. All delicious! The buffet is large and diverse with a nice selection of "sushi" rolls. My boyfriend's favorite on the buffet is the large whole fried fish (tilapia??) Lots of salad and dessert options.
