I want to give this place 1 star based on how bad my meal earlier was but on account of my previous other experiences here I'll try to be more objective. My appetizer came out cold tonight. Obviously it's premade and it was just reheated but I'm surprised how someone could serve that and thought that was okay. I asked the server to reheat the dish for me but I can already tell right there I won't be enjoying the rest of my meal. My curry also took awhile and it tasted really off. The nann was also very salty. After a few bites I asked for the check. That took awhile too but for some reason the waitstaff was quick to receive my money and tip. Huh. Anyway, among other things I'm pretty certain the buffet food is made from leftovers like how the nann is probably made with crushed papadums that wasn't served. I expect it but for the price I think they can do better. The only thing this place has over Annapurna across the street is that it's located on the second floor with window views and the place has that dimly lit ambience. However, the food is just not as good. I wanted to treat myself to a nice meal at the end if my vacation. I should've went to Amigos restaurant down the street instead. read more

New Delhi is our go to Indian restaurant. We hit up the lunch Buffett every now and then, but we dine here quite often. The food is always good and the service is equally as good. The only thing with the buffet is that it's so good we eat too much and can barely move afterwards. (11-2022) Tandoori Chicken Lunch Buffet...No More. No more delicious items with wonderful dipping sauces. It was served incorrectly and with major attitude. We've been going there for over 10 years and todays experience was the last. The waiter yelled and accused us of trying to rip them off. "You only get 2 side items we won't give you 3!" He gave us the wrong items and we didn't touch them once, "we just want what we ordered" My friend had a painful medical procedure done this morning so I thought she could use some delicious Tandoori Chicken for lucky....Never again. Good Indian buffet. Curry tastes good and doesn't have too much salt. As I get older this is starting to matter. I eat there once a week when I work in Pasadena. Good break and peaceful atmosphere. The Tandoori chicken is well spiced and well cooked - moist but not undercooked and well seared on the surface - it's a fine balance to get this and these guys know how to get it just right. The price has gone up a lot over the years but that's all part of the overhead. I'm happy to get a decent meal there for $20. read more

I ordered to go and waited about 25-30 minutes for cold food pretty sad. The only thing that was hot was the samosas. The rice was not good and the curry was cold as it gets and I literally ate my food a few minutes after I picked up. Overall horrible quality food I can tell that my curry was not made fresh or to order and would definitely recommend to stay away from this place. No depth in tikka masala and was not good. Came here on a Sunday night at 8pm and it was completely dead but my family and I didn't mind at first. Service seemed good enough since we were only one of two tables, but our food took next to forever to get. We got our appetizer the first couple of minutes in and then we probably waited another 20 minutes for our entrees to come out. Music was on one song then off for 5 minutes or so then repeat. Incredibly obnoxious pattern. Strange ambience when you hear the staff chatting. Started off with the Paneer Pakoras. I think they tried to make it pretty but when it came it was all over the place, I actually ended up making it better looking just for the picture. For those of you that don't know what that is, it's a type of cheese tofu type thing. One of my favorites and I'm not a vegetarian. Ordered: - mango lassi 5/5 - paneer pakoras 4/5 - shahi paneer tikka masala 2/5 (definitely plenty of seasoning but one of the poorer tasting tikka masalas has I've ever had) - mango chicken curry 4/5 (great flavor) - shrimp coconut masala 2/5 (something extremely bland about the shrimp & couldn't taste the coconut) - garlic naan - 5/5 - basmati rice 1/5 (it was either slightly undercooked or it had been sitting all day) *side note to fellow attempted environmentalists like myself/new law coming up: straws were given with our drinks and restaurants should be fined if they give you straws without you asking for it. There really isn't a reason for us to need a straw from a glass when we're sitting down anyway* I feel a little bad leaving this review since the staff was kind enough. I'd give them a 3.5 on the waiting service but the slow kitchen & their food that ended up costing us over $75 definitely would have me never come back. read more

I've been going here for 15 years and I live for their chicken Tikka masala, mango chicken, samosas, mango lassi, naan, and chutney. It's very cute and the service is great. This place is so cute! When you first walk up to the restaurant there's a door with metal panels and rivets, making it totally unique! Inside the tables are preset with folded napkins. It gave the feeling of a classy comfort and I think for dinner it could be a pretty cute idea for an intimate date. :) The food itself was set up buffet style and it's all self served. Because it was my first time eating Indian food I tried a little bit of everything and it was all so good! My favorite thing was the chicken curry and the chicken tikimasla. Once we sat down the servers brought us some freshly toasted naan. Everyone fell in love at first bite. My party had 6 people and the waiters were all so kind and attentive. We got our drinks refilled and plates removed without having to ever ask. Honestly it was a wonderful experience and we had loads of fun during a quick work lunch. We've been here twice now, super delicious food, fantastic service, lovely dining room, and the holy grail: free parking. Wish I'd remembered to take photos but we ate everything up so fast. Started with samosas, finished with chai. We had chicken tikka masala, palak paneer, bengan bhartha, lamb vindaloo, channa masala, plus rice and of course garlic naan. I ordered delivery from here last night. The restaurant delivers directly and I didn't have to go through an outside app, and the food arrived in less than 30 minutes. The man who took my order and the deliver driver were both extremely nice. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, Lamb Korma, rice, raita, naan, and vegetable samosas, the main dishes medium spicy. Everything arrived hot, well-wrapped and with amazing depth of flavor. I'd taken a chance and picked this restaurant based on the reviews, and we both really liked the food. My only complaint was that the saag paneer (my favorite) only had a few pieces of paneer that I had to dig around for, and they were thin shreds of it, not the blocks/cubes that I love. This is my go-to spot whenever I am craving Indian Food near home. Its conveniently located on Colorado Blvd where street parking is free and there is a shared parking structure (underground and above ground) between the other businesses on the same corner. I have yet to stop in for their all you can eat buffet brunch, but I usually order take out or delivery. When you order to-go there, they allow you to sit down and they ask if you would like any water while you wait which is a nice gesture. The staff has always been really kind to me and they're very attentive. This is a good spot for a date night, family outing or for catching up with friends. I love their Chicken Tikka Masala, Garlic Naan, Jasmine Rice, Vegetable Samosas (my usual). I've recently tried their Butter Chicken which was also good. I find their food to be very comforting and has never let me down. The reason why I knew about this is place is because I go to VP Nail down below to get my nails done and would pass by the restaurant every time I went and one day I decided to stop inside to give it a go. read more

Pasadena's Indian cuisine headquarters. I have been coming here for a few years and they keep this fresh for buffet which is a plus, but let's not forget about their menu. Bomb curries and Tikki. I came here a few weeks ago for lunch buffet, and unfortunately was not impressed: Chicken curry: The chicken curry did not have enough spices, making it rather mild and bland. It was really nothing to write home about, though at least the chicken was not dry. Goat curry: Luckily, there was enough salt, but rather one tonal in flavor and very lackluster as a result. Butter chicken: Surprisingly, this was more like Chicken Tikka Masala as it seemed more tomato based and not creamy, but without the spices. So...bland tomato chicken? Fries: These were greasy and soggy, and seasoned til overly salty. I avoided this after the first few bites. Mixed veggies: This was more like all radish? Or whatever that one veggie was? It was okay, though I wish there was a better ratio of vegetable variety. Veggie korma: This yet again surprised me as it was not creamy, and the big chunks of veggies off put any trace of creaminess. Pakora korma: This was sour and not really my thing...Not quite sure how else to put it. Pakora: Put on the same plate as the fries, it was also too salty. Rice: It was crunchy because it had been laying in the tray for too long. Overall, for $14.99 I would have expected more variety and better flavors. It really feels like they are catering to the more "Americanized" audience and watering down on the seasonings. Perhaps the non- buffet items are better? I was in the area and started craving Indian food so searched on yelp. The place is located on the second floor. Not too hard to find. I went there on a Saturday for lunch. I went inside planning to take out chicken makhani but the person offered me the buffet instead and to take a look. He said that I could do the buffet take out. And they had chicken makhani at the buffet so I decided to the buffet instead. They had a good variety of dishes from vegetarian to meat. Although I was actually kind of disappointed with the chicken makhani. It kind of lacked depth and spices. I did like the mushroom curry and the chicken tandoori. They also offered me naan. So even though I was disappointed by the makhani, I give 4 stars because they let me take out the buffet with naan, the guy was friendly and the mushroom curry was flavorful. read more

I'm sorry to write this review, because for many years in the past, this was an outstanding restaurant. Sadly, our recent visit was very disappointing. The quality of their meats does not match their great recipes. Our lamb curry was full of stringy, scrappy fatty cuts that should not have been used. The shish kebab was smaller than usual and had weird flavor and texture (tasted like hot dog). There were at least 5 people roaming the floor and the restaurant was practically empty. They were very nice, but I think more money should be spent on better quality ingredients instead of extra bodies on the floor and sitting around staring at customers. I hope they recover or I will miss this place. For now, I am uncomfortable going to a place cutting corners this way. This was our first time dining here and it was quite the lovely experience! The location is almost mysterious, tucked away on the 2nd floor of a building echoing the 1980's. With sweeping views of the mountains, dinner was perfectly lit by the setting sun. The menu has options for every eater and an expansive vegan & vegetarian selection. A standout was the tofu mushroom coco curry. The flavor of coconut was incredibly fresh. Loved the okra too! The service was on point. Friendly and fast.
