I decided to give this place a try. Please note my review is based on a to go order. Papaya salad - it was fair, but by the time I had brought it home it was soggy. They put way too much dressing. Crispy pork with Chinese broccoli - all the pork was mostly fat. Nothing like the photo on Yelp. Broccoli was bitter and again too much sauce making it soggy. Pad Thai - no flavor, not enough bean sprouts and chicken. Mostly noodles only. Not sure if they had an off night but based on their reviews, which were about 90% positive, I was let down. On the positive, all 3 dishes cost me a hair over $20. One downside, the guy who took the order seemed distracted. Either he didn't understand my order or he just didn't want to be there working. He almost left out the rice that came along with my order. An elderly gentleman came by before leaving. He seemed to be the owner. Whoever the cashier was, probably better to get someone with good customer service skills. Hint - place your order by the item number. The young guy's English is poor. read more

Plan B because Tasty Food was out of Hainan Chicken. :( We ordered their Beef salad, Green Curry and Pad See Ew and their pad see ew was probably their best dish-- but the latter is relatively hard to fuck up really. :/ The beef salad while great in portion wasn't really tasty at all. I was more familiar with light drizzle of fish sauce over pickled daikon and carrots with lush leaf greens and reds. It would usually also have slices of tomato and cucumbers topped with broiled beef. Instead I got a pile of iceberg lettuce with beef tossed in some VERY vinegary spicy sauce (so sour that I had to swallow it down with water). I ended up picking out the meat and tomatoes and left everything else. The boyfriend definitely enjoyed the pad see ew (+1 star), he said noodles were soft and delectable with sauteed egg pieces and vegetables that came together rather well. Portions and prices were definitely affordable and generous (+1 star), but the cashier could do a little better with a smile though. He looked so bored of being there... LOL. These guys are so awesome. They have easily been able to "veganize " all my Thai favorites. -Pad Thai (no egg) -Pad See Ew (no egg) -Papaya Salad (without fish sauce) The service is awesome and fast. A fairly new business in this shopping plaza, but they're doing good for themselves here. Great mom and pop shop (it's literally a couple cooking), and affordable prices. I've been to Thai restaurants where they upcharge everything, and compared to the overpriced $14 Pad See Ew at Noodle World, this place does amazing for literally half the price. Freshly made to order, no heat lamps, fresh ingredients (I work in the restaurant business, I know what's fresh or not), and amazingly affordable prices. I don't come here often, but this is the only Thai place I'm willing to come to if I do have a noodle craving. Pad see ew and pad Thai are the best here. I'm extremely glad to see a small mom and pop shop still be able to make it in this world that we live in, and I hope they're still around for many years to come. This business is rough, especially if you're the little guy - give this place a shot, they've earned my respect ten times over. read more

Been coming regularly every week for a couple of months now. To preface, it's in a food court. The food is very good and the portions are more than enough for the price. I just went here, it's what you expect from a Thai take out place in a chinese plaza. Great price though on everything. Curries are $6.50, which are a pretty good portion as well as a pretty large portion of rice is included. They have all your typical dishes and everything is priced reasonably, something that you won't see while eating Thai food these days. Star Thai definitely deserves 5 stars in terms of portion, price, and quality. This isn't the best thai food I've ever had, but it is good, cheap, and convenient.. therefore making it my to-go Thai spot :) I've had a couple of items from here like the pad thai, red curry, and spicy fried rice. All were very good, but I like the red curry best out of all the dishes.. but that's probably because I really like curry haha. The only thing I don't really like about this place is they don't pick up the phone so I have to go there and order. They don't really take that long to make and prepare the food though so it's not that big of a deal. It's located inside the Square Supermarket food court so parking can be hectic. I would advise to avoid coming here around 12 PM because that's when parking is the worst. Just like the rest of the food court restaurants here, it is cash only and there's no tax. At most one dish will be like $8 but most average around 6-7 dollars. read more

Ordered 3 party trays for a birthday party. They really packed the food in and the food was fresh and tasty. The owners were very sweet.

My boyfriend and I ordered on phone 30 minutes before their closing time, and needless to say the person picking up the phone told us we would have to be there within a few minutes. Not a problem for us, but we couldn't figure out where the restaurant was! Turns out it was located inside the food court of the supermarket, and they are also CASH ONLY!! So, after 10 min of finding the restaurant and having to withdraw cash, we were able to secure the goods! My boyfriend got yelled at a little by the grandma for not having any cash, which was hilarious, but technically we still made it two minutes before their actual closing time. We ordered the pad thai (delicious) and the tom kha coconut soup. I really loved the pad thai but I'm more used to a plain tom kha soup, while their version was piled with lots of vegetables, chicken, and mushrooms. It wasn't as limey or spicy as I had preferred, but it was still really yummy. The pad thai was a nice orangey color, the noodles were incredibly bouncy. Parking is easy here, and I'll definitely be back, with cash ready next time! read more

Glad I found this place. 5 minutes away from work. Perfect place to go for a quick lunch or a cold drink. I order the Thai tea with boba. $1.50 even no tax. Thai tea was refreshing and tasteful. This is one of my go to lunch spots. I'm vegetarian and always get the pad see ew with tofu, but everything looks delicious and I think most things can be made to be vegetarian friendly. It is in a food court type spot so the "restaurant" is tiny and can get busy at times. I went today and service was a bit slow due to demand which is understandable. Horrible customer service. Called 3 times. No answer first 2 times. Third time someone finally answered and could barely understand them. Rudely asking "what do you want". No hello or how can I help you? The phone line was static and broken as well. I asked to place a carryout order for wonton soup. The person said they don't have that on the menu. It is advertised on their menu. Why don't they remove it then? Please fix and have someone more customer appropriate answer your phone line. read more

I have no complaints about this place. I love Thai food and have found a real winner over here! We had the pad Thai, chicken satay skewers, their egg rolls, and their mixed vegetables with tofu. There was literally nothing I would have done differently and nothing that could have been improved upon. It was sweet. They need to put somebody more efficient at the cashier and not this poor little unorganized grandma who can't prioritize her customers. Imagine a fast food Thai restaurant where you can call in your order for pickup and when your arrive 45 mins later they don't have your food ready and they actually have not taken down your order or started making the food yet. This is that type of place. It has happened to me twice. When I arrive, they have nothing ready. I decide to put in an order and wait. They tell me it'll take 10 mins. But instead it took over 30 minutes. To add to that, they got one of my orders wrong which I realized when I got home and opened it. What a damn waste of time. I no longer have patience for them. I got the crab fried rice and seafood pad thai after seeing these high Yelp reviews. Surprisingly, the food actually looked better than the pictures on the menu, that's a first. The crab fried rice was really delicious, more than I expected it to be. The pad thai, on the otherhand, was mushy and not that great. The larb here is awesome just like their prices! I call for pickup and it's ready within 10 mins. Tom yum noodle is one of my faves here.
