Came here on a Sunday afternoon and there was about a 20-minute wait for 2 people. The hostess was very helpful and nice. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. Not too loud but still very busy. Wow food was more amazing than any picture could capture. Our server Tiffany was so extremely amazing. It's was my friends birthday and she made it such an intimate and dining experience. All you really need to know is: BUTTER CAKE. You'll thank me later. Whenever I'm in Long Beach, I always end up at Nick's. There's a lot to love about this place. We always sit at the bar where everyone is friendly and social. The service has been impeccable. My favorite cocktail here is the spicy paloma. They also have a good selection of wines. I've tried at least half the menu, and everything has been delicious. Make sure to save room for the butter cake. Metered street parking only. Small TVs if you want to keep tabs on a game, but definitely not a prime place to watch sports. Patio seating available. Soap in the bathroom smells great. :-) read more

I'm not an early bird and I usually skip my breakfast. This is one of my favorite lunch/brunch restaurant so far. Nick's on 2nd is easy to find. Parking is on the 2nd street. Here we go for the menu: Food - Shrimp Taquitos ( 4/5 ) - Jumbo Blackened Mexican Shrimp wrapped in Tortilla and deep fried until crispy. Top with Avocado Salsa and Chipotle Ranch is great pairing creamy and spicy !! Cheesy and refreshing at the same time. The Shrimps are very juicy. Tortillas are beautiful golden brown. The texture is modified to be better every time I got to try it. - Bistro Plate ( 5/5 ) - Grilled Filet Mignon with side dish. I usually skip everything else and ask for salad only. Nothing special on this dish but they keep it simple. Filet Mignon cooked perfectly every single time. - Creamy Pumpkin Soup of the day ( 5/5 ) - I love eating healthy foods to bring balance to my body. I usually never order soup from the restaurant but they said the house soup made from fresh cut products. So I have to try it! They use coconut milk to make it creamy with cinnamon spice. Vegan and keto friendly. Hot soup bowl is so perfect for this season!! - Warm Butter Cake ( 5/5 ) - Surprise me because It was so delish !!! Definitely can compare with the Warm Butter Cake from Mastro's Ocean Club! Drink are good price! I love Sparking Rosé and this place is giving a cheaper price than most of the restaurant I've been to. Spanish Cafe Carajillo is good but too sweet for me. Service is attentive and helpful. The wait is not bad 'cuz you can hang at the bar while waiting. Good location, good food and good service! And I love hangout in this area as well:) read more

Visited Nick's for the first time today, and was pleasantly surprised by their outstanding service, beautifully decorated restaurant and wonderfully fresh ingredients. We started with some artichoke, then some fried asparagus, then ordered a side house salad before my main meal. My main meal was the highlight of my visit as it was a perfectly cooked and delicious filet, with a side of sautéed spinach. We ended our meal with some butter cake and ice cream, which was the icing on the cake. Overall, fantastic experience, and I cannot wait until I visit again. read more

I reserved Nicks to celebrate my birthday with my husband and the experience started off weak due to waiting 30 minutes to be seated. We were greeted by the manager who was fantastic and offered a free appetizer and apologized for the wait. We were given asparagus fries which were very tasty. For appetizer we had the deviled eggs which we both enjoyed. I ordered baby back ribs and my husband the fried chicken with mashed potatoes which were both yummy. The meal was finished with a scrumptious butter cake With vanilla ice cream. The only issue I had was that there was no acknowledgement of it being my Birthday and I noted it on the reservation. That small gesture would put them at 5 stars and make me want to celebrate special occasions here. But overall it was a fun place. read more

After living in Long Beach for almost 4 years, I've finally tried the famous Nicks on 2nd St, and I now understand why everyone raves about it! First off, make sure to make a reservation, otherwise, you can be waiting 45 minutes on a weeknight at 5PM! I don't even want to know how long a walk-in is on the weekends. We went over to Saint & Second kitty-corner to this place instead when we didn't have reservations, but we vowed to come back with reservations. Food is delicious, and they have free corkage! Service is great here; all the staff even signed a card for us as my fiancee and I were celebrating! I do wish they had more variety of appetizers. I wasn't that impressed with their fried deviled eggs. But their entrees were very well cooked & tasted great. ~~ Pork Chop ~~ This was the winner for me! It was perfectly cooked and came with a blueberry sauce that was super delicious, not too sweet either. It gives you that craveable sweet/salty/savory taste. ~~ Sea bass ~~ Flaky, soft, and well-seasoned. read more

Yummmm!!! Even though it can be easy to find veggie friendly menu items, it doesn't mean they're always good. Nick's veggie burger is amazing!! I wish I had had more space in my belly to finish the whole thing. They make the patty in house, with black beans, mushrooms, pepper, and panko to make it crispy. The veggies that come on top are tasty and fresh! And yummy buns! My friends ordered the Thai salad, which looked beautiful, and the chicken platter which also looked yummy. Reasonably priced for the location. We went casual, but the place lends itself to fancier vibes. We had our pups with us, and they had to be left on the outside of the patio, fyi. Nice place for dinner with friends, or even for dates. The deviled eggs, fried chicken, and Chilean sea bass are the best items from here. However, even though this place gets good reviews from many people, they're not very dog friendly. I say this because they let customers eat with their dogs in the patio; however, the caveat is that the dog has to be on a leash, on the other side of the fence partitioning the patio area from the sidewalk. So, when you visit this restaurant, it looks ridiculous that they have a bunch of dogs sitting or lying down on the sidewalk, separated by a fence from their owners. The restaurant claims it's because the county health inspector doesn't allow dogs to crossover inside the restaurant. If that is the case, then this is more evidence that our so-called "government" is completely heartless and unreasonable. read more

After outdoor dining reopened in LA County, my fiancee and I were searching for a new brunch spot to try after realizing our usual hangs were fully booked on the Saturday we wanted. So I did my usual Yelp hunting, and realized the Nick's we loved in San Clemente also has a location in Long Beach. Sign me up! We started with brunch cocktails--I ordered a Jackalope from the menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. A fruity break from traditional whiskey cocktails. My fiancee ordered the black-and-blue mojito, which isn't on the menu, at the server's suggestion. She enjoyed this cocktail a lot (I was of a differing opinion). On to the food! For a starter we ordered the famous deep fried deviled eggs. They were just as tasty as I remember from the San Clemente location. I only order deviled eggs from one or two places, as I feel I can usually make more flavorful versions at home, but I ALWAYS make sure to get them at Nick's--so yummy. For mains we each ordered a dish and shared with each other. My fiancee got the classic cheeseburger, which was excellent. Juicy, fresh, expertly assembled. The fries were delectable--I couldn't stop munching on them! As for me, I got the prime rib dip with the mac anc cheese side. The mac and cheese was super good--I'll have one bucket please! The prime rib dip was good, but not great. Living in downtown LA, I'm spoiled by having the world-famous Philippe beef dip mere minutes from my house, so I'm probably a bit biased to that version of the sandwich. The difference between the Philippe version and the Nick's version is simple to me--the au jus. The au jus at Nick's is good, but doesn't hold a candle to the Philippe au jus, and thus the Nick's sandwich falls a bit flat because of this. All in all whether you're eating at Nick's San Clemente or Nick's Long Beach--just come eat at Nick's! And seriously, order the deviled eggs! read more

My plus one and I were walking around Naples and Belmont Shore for a few hours and we were starving. We noticed Nick's was packed, but I've always wanted to try them out so we waited for seats. Surprisingly, we got a massive table for 2 after only 15 minutes. To start we were recommended the deviled eggs, which were very good. The presentation of the 4 pieces on top of a wooden board was cool. We liked the batter on the deep fried eggs and the filling wasn't mustard heavy. The bacon on top of the deviled eggs was perfect. My plus one got a SF Cioppino and I got the prime rib dip. My plus one thought her cioppino had a good presentation especially with the accompanying sourdough loaf, but she felt it lacked something. When I tasted it, I thought everything was very good. The head of the jumbo Mexican prawn was massive, but the meat behind it was very small. The rest of the shellfish tasted fresh. For my entrée, I ordered the excellent prime rib dip. The prime rib was thinly sliced and tasty. The mayo tasted homemade. The brioche bun was soft and perfectly toasted and the red wine au jus dipping sauce was not salty at all. I really loved the whole sandwich and enjoyed every bite. The fries that came with it could have been a little hotter and crisper, but that's a small issue. We didn't have room for the warm butter cake, but we'll be sure to have it net time. We had very good service and very good food. I'm excited to try out their breakfast menu next time I'm in Belmont Shore. read more

I always thought the first rule of customer service was to leave personal baggage at home. She forget to come back for our orders, extra nachos, and pretty short when we took time ordering. I can't speak to the food because we were never served. Came in with my partner and we were seated somewhere in the back. Servers kept giving their backs to us.m as they continued to serve others. After a while we got up and just left. No one served us, when we asked for a server they didnt send one. We couldnt speak to anyone about anything so we left. Terrible experience. Wont be back. Highly don't recommend. We ended up going to Saint & Second and we were served right away. I highly recommend it, its across the street from them. read more

We've been fans of Nick's for a while and today's visit didn't disappoint! Stopped in for brunch on a Sunday and sat at the bar. We had a reservation to avoid a long wait. We started with a favorite brunch beverage, a vanilla screwdriver. For food we ordered a carrot muffin, the short rib benedict and the skillet. The muffin was moist and delicious with golden raisins throughout. The short ribs were shredded and tender and the eggs were perfectly poached. The skillet was full of goodness and just tasted like comfort food in a dish. It was a nice mix of flavors. The service was courteous and attentive and their ratings are well-deserved. read more

This place is reliable and simple in it's American steaks and such approach and it's sure to please for guests or a date night. Wow it has been about a decade since I came to this place and they have made a lot of changes for the better. This was the best steak sandwich I have ever had. It was the ribeye melt and it is a must try if you live anywhere near Lb. my wife got the sea which was very well prepared and the kids options are not on the menu but are great. My first time here and I wasn't disappointed. First off, let me say that the service was great. From the bartender to the servers it was top notch. We went here for lunch and the food was very good. I had the special of the day which was macadamia crusted halibut with a buttery sauce. It came with mashed potatoes and sauté spinach. The meal was delicious. I think the fish was just a lil overcooked but it was still good. But I must say their drinks were awesome. At least the cucumber jalapeño margarita was. Had 3 of them! Lol Dessert was bomb too. The lemon butter cake with blueberry sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream was just so sweet and delicious. I give this place a 4.5 and will definitely come back again. My friend recently got engaged and I wanted to take her out to celebrate. She chose her favorite spot, which was Nick's on 2nd. She made reservations a few weeks ago as she said it can get pretty busy even on a Wednesday night. Parking wasn't so bad as all meter parking is free after 7pm. Traffic can be a bit brutal as this is apparently in the lively and hip part of Long Beach. We got seated outside in the patio where it wasn't too hot or too cold. We both ordered drinks that were delicious and super strong. The Single Barrel Margarita was pretty strong that I only drank half (driving that night so had to drink responsibly). My friend ordered the Cucumber Cooler which was refreshing. As for entrees, I ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (lactose folks, be warned) and my friend got the prime rib dip. Portions are pretty big and heavy. My buttermilk fried chicken was pretty good but got a bit dry after a few bites. The prime rib dip was really good, especially with the sauce that came with it. We ended the night with the famous Butter Cake. This was pretty good as it was very buttery, crispy and the ice cream balance the warmth of the cake. Overall pretty good experience, and can see why it was my friend's favorite restaurant. read more
