I used to come here in my 20s, loved the Nicabolis. It's been 20 years since I've been there. We started off with a slice of pizza which is still as good as I remembered it We shared the Nicaboli, and added sausage to it. It's important to embrace Nicola's for what it is: a long standing family stromboli joint that also does pizza and a few other dishes. They're not fancy and they are not upscale. But, they are very consistent in their quality, taste and service. When they move off of Rehoboth Ave, it will be a real loss to the local community and to visitors alike. The waiter was friendly and efficient. The business was new and clean. The Cheese Fries, and the Nic-O-Boli are delicious. My son, Matthew loved those two options the best. The Turkey Sub is a healthy option and not bad. Also, the pizza is tasty and has a nice soft crust, however, we ordered a pizza with onions, sausage, and green peppers but they forgot the sausage. I remember this place from like 1998 VERY WELL because Delaware is NOTORIOUS & INFAMOUS for having THE WORST PIZZA in the USA! Of the various jobs I had, I eventually started working at the boardwalk, and I found THIS PLACE! This pizza was SOOOOO GOOD! I NEVER understood why my wicked Step-Family Members couldn't understand that. However, so much time has passed. I did find it interesting that in 2022, in a completely different town, everyone seemed to KNOW this pizza place. Which means, to me, that ALL THE OTHER PIZZA in the area is AWFUL. Anyways, I finally returned, since my Mom moved back to Southern DE, so we made a plan to come here, and she bought me a pizza. I was REALLY looking forward to it! However, my experience was NOT THE SAME AS I REMEMBER. All the people who worked there were PERFECT! So, I thank you guys for that! But, The pizza fell apart, it was soggy, messy, and altho it smelled fantastic, the taste was too bland. So, were my memories more NOSTALGIA???? Or, did it used to be amazing, and just change over time? Or, is pizza just better in other states, and I'm spoiled? I don't know. Its a philosophical quandary. This is a local favorite. The location is large with ample parking. The menu offers many options of typical Italian(ish) American dishes. The service is quick, but a bit disjointed. The meals are dropped as they leave the kitchen, so the whole table isn't served together. It may be 5 minutes between serving times. The options are to be rude or eat cold food. They are truly obsessed with the idea of fat free bread and their play on a word for Stromboli. If you want to feed a crowd on the cheap, quickly, this is a great place. This is not a restaurant to compare to authentic Italian dishes or high end Italian cuisine. Don't get me wrong, someone's Nonna's may have cooked like this, but it's not "bragging rights" food. Since it's across the street from our hotel, we got take out a second time, but this time we got 2 strombolis - one ground beef and one chicken with jalapeños. And an order of mozzarella sticks appetizer. The Strombolis were both very good, large portions. The chicken jalapeño was soggy on the bottom, not to say it wasn't very good, but to say only that utensils were needed, whereas the ground beef Stromboli could be eaten by hand. After a long drive to Lewes, we had a craving for pizza. I just happened to see this restaurant after driving around and decided to go here for pizza. The restaurant is spacious with lots of natural lighting. They had an outdoor bar area along with happy hour prices! We didn't go their though. We were seating inside and the place was hoppin'. My daughter ordered the kids tenders with chips. We ordered fries to share-- gotta top it with malt vinegar!! I ordered a salad and slice of cheese pizza. The slice was $3!!! They have a large parking lot with a row of dedicated parking for takeout, a takeout window, two levels, some outdoor seating for warmer months with covers, and some outdoor couches and a fire pit. We had the Healthy Heart Nicoboli and the original Nicoboli. They were very tasty and served rather quickly. The joint is very busy as we had a 30 -40 min wait on a Saturday night. Nicola Pizza has moved out of Rehoboth Beach and relocated to a new building in Lewes off Route 1. There's is plenty of ample parking and a separate takeout window. The restaurant is spacious, with plenty of seating - great for families and large groups. There is an outdoor area opened when the weather is warm. The inside area has a huge bar and great cocktails - their orange crushes are freshly squeezed and amazing. The fries are piping hot. Start off/ I have been going to Nicola's since the 80's. Amazing business. Owners - their family all are super nice people. Service is always great. Nicabolis and pizza are the draw. Both are worth every penny. They sold the properties in town Rehoboth and made millions. Already have made millions. Moved to a property they have owned for years. 2 Hyatt or Hilton properties and a small strip with a bank- they own it all. And a beautiful, huge new restaurant. I set the scene. Get this- no indoor pickup. You have to wait outside in the elements. Two days ago was pretty much a nor'easter. 1.5 inches of rain, 43 degrees, wind advisory on the bay.Went inside to get the order. Said they wouldn't bring it to me. Had to go stand in the elements and have the nice kid at the window (who was wearing a rain jacket zipped up) squeeze the order through. Come on- you have all that money and you treat your customers like that? You failed at planning, we all make mistakes, take care of your customers that take care of you. Your competition across the street has a large take out room that is comfortable. I heard there is ability to do curb side takeaway, but not advertised. Like I said- everything is A++ but the ridiculous pass-through window for take out. read more

I relocated to the area full time and finally made it to Nicola's new location. Same great food...nothing beats a nic-o-boli...and the small white pizza got raves. Some the former staff are even still there and Camille is still holding down the fort. But the vibe is gone, the ambiance is gone, the feeling of coming home on each visit is gone. It is now just one more Route 1 restaurants and pizza places. I might make the effort once year, but as long as it isn't the old place, a couple of frozen nic-o-bolis, never as good at home as they are fresh there, will probably suffice. read more

We Aldo got an order of the cheese fries and it was so plentiful and cheesy I almost had no room for pizza and we definitely didn't even finish half. The only reason I'm giving it three starts is because I didn't go inside. Ventured over here after work to get a few slices. I went to the takeout window where the tong lady who waited on me was very cool and nice. Although she lied to me when I asked about the size of slices... she said they're pretty big when in fact they're HUGE! I ordered 3 pepperoni and added sausage and bacon to them. Took them back to my room. They hold heat fairly well but wow were they filling! Definitely went to bed satisfied. Three slice was almost half a pizza! All good for the price I paid. My son's birthday party was supposed to be at Grottos and it was our own fault that we assumed they could accommodate us; but they're renovating and didn't have the space so we were scrambling the day before. I called Nicolas and they were firm about no reservations on weekends and that there was a possibility they could seat us but to be warned it's football Sunday. 45 minutes before arrival I called to warn them a party of 25 would be coming in, but was still nervous we wouldn't be sat. When we arrived, they had a space for us and even allowed us to sit in extra tables when our party grew with late arrivals. They were AMAZING with upbeat and funny attitudes even though I'm sure it was a hassle with separate checks and the chaos our family brings. Arrived here late on a Sunday evening, after a long drive. Was surprised to find out that all members of a party have to be 16 to sit on the patio even though I had two teenagers under 16 and both my husband and I were present. This is the most ridiculous policy I've ever heard of. The hostess told me that the patio is an "adult" zone. The waitress had little to no personality and when I asked her about the patio policy, she told me "I don't make the rules." We ordered two Stromboli's, a pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce had little to no flavor and the Stromboli's were soggy. In fact, I sent mine back. I did not order anything else. Tried this place out because the condo owners where we were staying recommended it, but would never return. They have gluten free pizza now (hallelujah!). My grandparents have been coming here for decades and I am so glad I am able to join them in enjoying the pizza once again. My partner enjoys the nicobolis (no GF offerings yet). We ordered take out a few times this summer which was excellent and went in once. When we went in, the service was so fast and even when busy, we were well taken care of. Parking is still a major pain. I wish their fries were a bit better but all in all, we always enjoy a meal here. read more
