One of the coolest touches was having a photographer come by to take our photo, print it on the spot, and place it in a beautiful glass frame. I wasn't expecting to enjoy Nigel's as much as I did. What impressed me most wasn't the food (which was very good) or the fun atmosphere, it was the service. You can tell when a restaurant has great leadership because every single person you meet seems genuinely happy to be there. Manager Bobby has clearly built an outstanding team. From the moment Kharissa welcomed us with a smile, to our wonderful server Stephanie, who made great recommendations and made my friend Vanessa feel truly celebrated on her birthday, everyone made us feel like guests instead of customers. Jake happily answered my questions about my delicious Grand Ahi Tuna Salad, Azat captured some fantastic photos that we were happy to purchase, and Jordan quietly kept everything spotless without ever missing a beat. Every interaction felt warm, professional, and genuine. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with fun photo spots throughout, and it made for a memorable afternoon. Ironically, I was actually resistant to coming here. I'm really glad I was talked into it because Nigel's completely won me over. Customer service was excellent. I love the decor. Everything is in pink and white. It's a cool concept by the water. We had such a good time. The drinks were really good. Especially the mojitos which were very refreshing and the lemon drops that were so tasty. The food was disappointing. The food looked appetizing but lacked seasoning. Everyone asked for salt, pepper and anything else they had to improve the flavor. I ordered the avocado toast on sourdough with bean sprouts and bacon. They service it's amazing as being a busy restaurant, they do request a $25 deposit in hold in credit card for any reservation, free parking and 2 hours of reservation but if they are not busy they will not rush you! Niguel Waterfront Restaurant is definitely for the girlies! I absolutely loved the vibe, aesthetics, and beautiful waterfront views. The atmosphere is stylish, fun, and makes for a great place to gather with friends. Unfortunately, the service fell short during our visit. While the staff seemed to be trying their best, they were not very attentive. Even though there were several empty tables, it took nearly 20 minutes after being seated to receive water and place our drink order. Throughout the meal, we had to repeatedly ask for water refills and condiments, and the staff did not check on our table very often. The restrooms were also low on supplies, and there were a few service missteps, including dishes being cleared before everyone had finished eating. My sister's food was taken before she was done, and our meals did not arrive at the same time. As a party of seven, we were seated near the host stand and restrooms, which wasn't the most comfortable location for a larger group. The food was decent, and the menu had a lot of appealing options. Because I enjoyed the atmosphere so much, I would be willing to give it another chance, perhaps with a smaller group. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Cute spot for dates and special occasions. The hubby and I stopped in one weekday afternoon to get a drink and see what it was all about. The place was very pink and very pretty. The ambience was definitely chick-forward, and as a chick, I dug it, even though I don't generally consider myself a girly girl. We bellied up to the bar (yes, pink) and perused the cocktail menu. I got a Swipe Right cocktail, which was a nice blend of bourbon and sweetness without being cloying, even with sugar rim. The hubby wasn't in the mood for a cocktail and just got a hazy IPA. The beautiful afternoon light reflecting off the water made the whole place glow and we had a nice time leisurely taking it all in. We were glad to have caught it before the evening crowd got there. The bartender was nice and the prices were in line with its upscale-casual ambience. We enjoyed it, but will probably only come for drinks during the quiet hours because we're old and they don't have a great selection of vegetarian items. CUTE BUT INTERRUPTED Came out for the Valentine's Day experience pre fix menu. We sat in the corner booths as you enter the restaurant. Cute details and pink lighting all around. Ordered their take on the old fashion and a sassy and spice drink made with Mezcal. Drinks were good and I was delighted the place was available on a Saturday valentines day. Oysters were okay. I mean, they don't have to be prepared at all, but whoever shucked them did it aggressively because we had to spit out the pieces of shattered shell in each of them. It happens at least they didn't look dead. The filet mignon was good. Cooked medium rare and served with a piece of butter torched right in front of you. My girlfriend has been wanting to try this place for sometime so I thought it would be a great place for valentines. Unfortunately, the thing she remembers most from the dinner is how we fought fruit flys the entire time. And to pay, with the intention to make her day, just to laugh about how all we did was kill fruit flies is irritating. the meal was overshadowed by the constant smacking of flys. I know it's an outdoor set up but I think there was something attracting them in the snake plants behind us. We didn't see anyone else battling so assumed it was just us. Had such a great time at Nigel's Long Beach last night! I was there with a group, and honestly, everything was so good. The food was amazing, the vibes were great, and the service really fab. Nigel's is definitely a vibe! From their front waiting area, to the seating and restrooms - they are consistent with the pink decor, making for amazing pics and pretty vibes. They were late on setting up our table, there were still people dining, so that was a little hiccup. Once we were seated, everything came together. He also had a gorgeous young lady walking around, posing for pictures and she had these amazing costumes that she rotated out of throughout our time there. I should also mention, that as we waited for a table to be set up, we were invited to the bar to order drinks if we'd like. My friends order cocktails, and I had a mocktail, presentation again, a spot on! My friend said they really liked their drink drinks. I ordered the "La Reina Pork Carnitas" and I didn't expect them to be as good as they were. I wish there was more Carnitas because that was the best part, they were filled with flavor and not greasy at all. The chilaquiles had a great flavor. The portion size was pretty big aside from the protein. Unfortunately, they were out of the desert they offered on our menu. So that part got a little messy and I ended up leaving without dessert. We were a party that had to do the buffet package cause I guess for parties larger than 4, they hate doing their jobs of cooking expensive food. They had no issue to make and charge us for additional appetizers and drinks but individual entrees would drive this place to ruins. Restaurants can prepare for large groups and patrons would be more than happy to wait knowing how busy the kitchen can be. From the buffet food experience, the package is bull. For the lowest package it was already quoted $65 min for 2 entrees and a salad when I probably could have paid that for a drink, app, and entree of my own. I can't believe this place has been sitting right here and I never knew about it. From the second you walk the red carpet into the restaurant you feel like you're somewhere special. The waterfront views are beautiful and every little detail has been thought out. As a mermaid lover I was obsessed with the seashell chairs at the back bar. My daughter and I did the Dine and Dock experience and it ended up being one of our favorite girls' days. I had the salmon and the glittery pink deviled eggs. They were almost too pretty to eat and everything tasted just as good as it looked. The cocktails were so fun and honestly every one I tried was delicious. Our server was amazing and management stopped by to check on us, which I always appreciate. The chef even came out and told us the story behind Nigel's famous chicken piccata family recipe. I love little personal touches like that. After dinner we went out on the pink Duffy boat. Having a captain was the best because we could just relax and enjoy the ride. We even saw jellyfish. We added the charcuterie board and decorations and the boat looked so cute when we got there. We had such a great time and made so many fun memories. Food- The food is pretty standard brunch for. Not a ton of food options, they have a scramble and a Benedict and a chilaquiles and an avocado toast. The vegetables were really delicious and fresh. The egg whites were super fluffy which was very enjoyable. Everything came unseasoned in the garden omelet but they provided salt, pepper, hot sauce, and ketchup. Lots of drink options if you fancy a brunch cocktail, wine, or beer. The pineapple mimosa is nice. The bloody mary was really good and has a bleu cheese fried green olive in it. They gave us complimentary vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and chocolate chips because we were celebrating my birthday. It was super delicious!! Service- The service here is lovely. We are vegetarian and they were able to customize some of our dishes so we had more ordering options (e.g., lobster benedict without the lobster). At one point the owner came by and even cleared my plate and asked if he could get us anything else, which is so above and beyond. Ambience- I love the vibes here, so much pink! Everything here was great! The ambience obvi but also our food server was so sweet, nice and attentive. The manager came by twice during our dining to check on us and ask how everything was. We were there for early dinner and drinks about 5pm and it was very hot outside so one of the employees moved an umbrella to give us extra shade. We sat in the restaurant at one of the round booths facing the water. It was hot and sunny so the umbrella was appreciated. Afterward dinner we were treated to a short shared Duffy boat ride that was really fun. I really wanted to give this place five stars. The food was excellent, and the restaurant itself is unique with a fantastic atmosphere. The host and management were welcoming, personable, and made a great first impression. Unfortunately, the service kept this from being a five-star experience. It took about 20 minutes to receive our first round of drinks, and nearly 25 minutes passed before our waiter checked back in. Since we hadn't seen him, I asked the hostess if she could send him over so we could order appetizers. When he arrived, the interaction became unexpectedly confrontational. My wife had simply asked if we could wait to order our entrées until after the appetizers arrived because we were concerned everything would come out at once. Instead of acknowledging the request, he told us he'd been doing this for 20 years and knew what he was doing. After that, we were uncomfortable asking for anything else--even refills on water or iced tea--because we didn't want another negative interaction. To be clear, we left on good terms, and I don't enjoy leaving critical reviews. If you look through my other reviews, you'll see I usually give five stars and rarely rate a place lower. That's why I felt it was important to share this experience. This restaurant has so much potential. The food, atmosphere, and concept are all outstanding. Our reservation was at 6:45 PM, but the table wasn't ready on time. Service was extremely slow from the start. Our drink orders didn't arrive until an hour and a half later, and even then the order was wrong and not everyone received their drinks, even though the restaurant wasn't close to full. We didn't get our food until 8:45 PM, two hours after our reservation. When it finally arrived, appetizers and entrées came out together, the appetizers were cold, and the steaks we ordered medium rare were served well done. To make things worse, we were squeezed into a small cabana that couldn't fit our group and were charged extra for it without ever requesting it. There was so little space that we had to eat our meals on our laps. Overall, the night was chaotic and poorly managed. Like many others have mentioned in their reviews, this restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It's very well themed, the glassware is gorgeous, the gold silverware is a fun touch, and the décor and overall ambiance are fantastic. We came here to celebrate our friend's birthday with a party of 10. When we were seated, we were informed there was a two-hour dining limit, which we completely understood since it's a busy restaurant. We ordered drinks first, but they took about 25 minutes to arrive. My drink had condensation on the outside of the glass, making it obvious it had been sitting for quite a while. For an $18 cocktail, that was a little disappointing since drinks can change in taste if they sit too long. Still, it wasn't a huge issue. Our food arrived promptly, additional rounds of drinks came quickly, and we were genuinely having a wonderful time celebrating. Unfortunately, everything changed when the bill came. The restaurant automatically added a 20% gratuity, which was clearly stated on the menu, so we expected that. What we were not told was that they do not split checks and will only accept a maximum of three credit cards for large parties. This policy is not listed on the menu, nor were we informed when we were seated. As we've done at many restaurants, everyone calculated their own total, including tax and gratuity, so we could each pay our share. However, every time we added everything together, we were coming up $30-$50 short. We simply asked if the server could separate the bill by seat so we could verify each person's subtotal. She told us she couldn't. At that point, the manager came over because we had already spent about 30 minutes trying to sort it out. He explained that they don't allow multiple credit cards because of processing fees and that they would not split the check. When we asked how other large parties handle this, he simply said, "They just pay it." We found that hard to believe for a bill approaching $1,000. After nearly an hour of going back and forth with both the server and the manager, we finally said we would have to remove the automatic gratuity--not because of the server, who was great and absolutely deserved a tip, but because it was the only way we could accurately calculate what everyone owed. As soon as we said that, the server was suddenly able to separate the items by person and process all of our credit cards individually. It was incredibly frustrating because what had been such a fun and enjoyable afternoon ended on a very sour note. This entire situation could have been avoided if the restaurant had simply disclosed its payment policy upfront. If a restaurant refuses to split checks and limits the number of credit cards it will accept, that policy should be clearly stated on the menu and communicated to guests before they order. It's unfortunate because the restaurant itself is beautiful, the atmosphere is excellent, and we genuinely enjoyed our meal.
