Guess who's back, back again, we are back, tell a friend. Enough with the lame intro, now onto the food.  --------------------------------------------------------- But service first. Excellent. Go to next section if you prefer bad service!  The listed time of 8PM is their last call. You need to have your name down, and they will honor anyone on the wait list.  They have outdoor seating right now during COVID season, but the Creek Fire was giving us a real smoky time that cold, windy Friday night, so we opted to wait for a table inside. No complaints from Taylor. She told us we could wait inside the plaza's interior atrium. We did. And she did come by every 5 to 10 to check on all waiting parties. When it was time for us to leave the safety of the atrium, she even opened the door for us. Best. Service. Ever. Pho sho. For a casual eatery at least.  The staff, including her, also came out to check on us without being intrusive.* This was also a week before Halloween, so even with the masks and shields up, the owners, like many others in town, decided to lighten up the mood and Deck the halls with gouls and monsters, La-la-la-la-la Ly-ly, ly-ly --------------------------------------------------------- So we end up ordering the #3 Khao Soi, #8 spinach noodle, and the #5 The Noods-noodles (bbq pork noodle).  The #3 khao soi was good just like last time. There were pieces of tomato in the broth. Ah, no wonder the dish tasted so fresh, especially compared to my other khao soi experiences. Read my previous review for the other details. And if my eccentric writing style entertains you, why don't you hit that follow button, give this a like, funny, or cool. ** The #5 is basically a char-siu lo-mein/叉燒撈麵, something that, yes, you can make at home, but you are probably not from Mam.... *** Sure, it's just noodle, pork, aromatics, and sauce, but they do a great job here, and I mean it, I truly do. The #8 spinach noodle with the OMG sauce might come off basic*** made in house spinach noodles with their OMG sauce on the side, but that sauce is sooo good. Perfect balance of saltiness, slight tang, kick, and a little sweetness to reset  your taste buds and keep them wanting more. The spinach noodle has the best texture of all the noodles, a good chewiness without the egg noodle's odor. It's a good, pure way to enjoy the noodle and the sauce unhindered. We had such a good time that we came back for lunch next day before leaving town. #3, 4, 5 please! So, mystery from last visit solved! Is the #4 chicken noodle soup khao pi-ak? You can definitely argue, but I wouldn't say so. Certainly it didn't have the correct noodle, but that's certainly understandable, though you could argue the noodle has a major effect on the soup. The lighter broth here gets overpowered by the aromatics. I taste ginger, in the way of Cantonese ginger dipping paste. Chicken flavor not as intense as my khao pi-ak experiences. Drink wise, we had the Thai tea on the first night, and the coffee, pea flower tea, and roasted coconut juice in a can next lunch. The coconut juice you can get in a store.  The Thai tea comes cloudy. You will have to mix the unsweetened milk and sweet tea yourself. Mixed, it's not as sweet as what I've had in the past, which I prefer since usually, Thai tea is way too sweet, and leaves a film in my mouth. This was more refreshing.  The coffee is closer to Asian style, heavy coffee flavor but definitely sweet and thicker than 'Bucks. The peaflower tea is a good choice if you enjoy the flavor of pea leaves/shoots, a definition of plant flavor, a love or hate sort of flavor. Comes blue, and in a porcelain tea pot if you get it hot. Now, the food might come off under salted for some. Not sure if the 8000ft altitude air is a factor, but if you need the extra dose of hypertension, there's always the crazy bean. Sorry that's harsh, but that was my experience, and I ain't gonna lie. Due to the way the egg noodle they use here are made, they have a very strong bounce/bite but there could be a baking-soda-esque odor. This is normal. Authentic wonton noodles and some ramen noodles are like that too. The char siu are made in house, similar to -but much leaner than- Cantonese/Chinese style. Flavor is there, not dry, healthier too, but lean is lean if you're picky. --------------------------------------------------------- * Yes, too much service exist, and it's intrusive. If you are having a good conversation with the staff, that's nice. If they come by every 5 minutes asking if you need anything, that's dry and becomes annoying. ** Hope you found that reference funny rather than annoying. *** Burgers are easy to make at home too, but burger shops are still plenty around. BOBA IN MAMMOTH?!?! NO cap. Get the boba. We got taro and thai iced tea and it's better than boba you can get in OC. They close mid day for lunch I think but we got there 10 min before they closed and they didn't mind at all. We placed our order over the phone and got chicken pho and regular pho. This place gives you SOOO Much noodles. I'm never full from pho because I don't get enough noodles but this place gives you so much. The broth was good too! Holy smokes, when they say "large" they mean LARGE!! Next time I will stick with the regular, as the large could easily feed two adults. The veggie noodle bowl was tasty, though next time I'll ask for extra bok choy. Amazing noodles and customer service! I ordered the veggie noodle soup with spinach noodles. The moment I took a bite my belly was warmed and I indulged until my bowl was empty. I live in the diverse city of Los Angeles and I HAVE YET TO FIND A VEGGIE SOUP THAT PACKS AN UMAMI PUNCH LIKE THIS ONE. STILL my go to solo spot in town. Taylor and Pat are amazing owners and I respect the hustle. Get the Khao Soi + side veg it's my every time option every time! I've sent many of my own customers I'm serving on recommendation there when they want something affordable and different in town than the usual American Mexican food off the hill. I enjoy this place to decompress, eat some noodles and just enjoy a nice bowl of hot brothy goodness. It revives me after a heavy night of drinking and it fills up my soul with warmth after being outside all day in the cold. Great tea menu and it's nice to have the refills. Great environment to relax, cool art for sale and it's right next to the book store which I usually try and pick up some reads after my meal. read more

Noodle-ly is one of my favorite places in town. I've been going there since they opened in 2019. The owners are lovely, the staff is friendly and helpful and the food is delicious! I find every excuse I can to stop by. I almost always order the number 3, though I've enjoyed several of the other options as well. I tried their Khao soi soup with egg noodles and loved the dish. If you can tolerate sriracha flavor you should be able to tolerate the spicy level of the dish. My gf tried their pho with braised beef which isn't spicy and she enjoyed the dish as it's more the traditional pho flavor with tasty beef. They did have some seating for wait times as they are a popular location especially around dinner so go early ! I think we waited 50 mins or so for dinner. Worth it. read more

Decent Asian noodle joint in the Mammoth Lakes area. We got the Khao Soi and BBQ pork egg noodle soup and both were pretty tasty but on the saltier side. The Khao Soi is different from what you would get at your usual Thai restaurant - the broth is clearer and not as creamy. Quite disappointing. We tried the place after having read the positive reviews. We gave it 4 stars for the quick, efficient service & 2 stars for the quality of the Pho. Coming from the SF Bay Area, we found the Beef & Chicken Pho served here were both underwhelming. The broth was just salty & lacked the complexity of flavors. Seems the place skimps on the fresh veggies & herbs too. The few pieces given looked tired & not so fresh. The chicken pieces were simply chunks thrown into the broth instead of being cut thinly. Update - psycho owner. Maybe an apology would of been better but you just had to yappie now this comment stays permanently. The dude who works there is stupid. Had to repeat myself like 7 times for him to get the order correct. And when we came in it wasent busy at all. We wanted to sit at 4 seater table because we are not small people. They said no. Im like its cramped. He just walks away. White couple walks in. "Can we sit at a bigger table?" While theres other 2 seater tables open. And he goes right this way. Is it because we are asians? Smh. The staff are dishonest. The server tell you how much the check is after finish the meal without producing a itemized bill. They never explain the 18% service charge id already included. We asked the server why so much money although we did not order a lot. The server responded each dish we ordered without telling us the price for each dish not to mention she never told us the tip is included. The check you have to sign is the total amount of the check. Without knowing any better, i added 25% tip. I found out this later by getting on their website. In fact, i gave them 43% tip. Very dishonest people. read more

What is not so good is that they charged $4 (?!) for a side of bean sprouts, 2 lime slices, and a sprig of basil to accompany one of their dishes where those are not already included. Came by for my family's annual Mammoth trip. This was our second visit & the last time we were here the food was so good it became my favorite place to eat in town. After my last review I was told to ask for Taylor on my next visit. Unfortunately, they weren't here this time, but the food was every bit as delicious. Open for indoor and outdoor seating! Located in the Vons and movie theater plaza with tons of parking available. While on vacation, we just had to try these Asian noodles and I was impressed! We ordered the Khao Soi and the Noods-Noodles with egg noodles. The Khao Soi had rice noodles that paired well with a spicy, tomato broth and a generous serving of minced pork. Almost every spoonful I scooped had rich, minced pork with it. We also ordered the egg noodles with the Noods-Noodles. Egg noodles are usually hard to make, but these had a great texture where they were firm but still soft and chewy. The BBQ pork was good quality and tasted great with the noodles. I was a regular patron (2-4x a month at $20-30 a pop for 1 including tip) to this place, the food sufficed until you leave town for that quick trip to Reno or weekend in LA or Vegas. But I was just over the employee owners' long winded replies and environmental justice. I think she forgot that no one recycles in Mono or Inyo counties.. alumimun, glass or plastic CRVs is one thing but plastic lined hot food carton goes straight to the trash, along with the plastic bags and plastic utensils, and all the plastic packaging the food and containers come shipped in. I would have paid the extra $1 for an extra container but I was just over it after hearing 10 minutes of rhedoric. I just wanted the pho noodles to make it on a 40min car ride to Bishop. Greenwashing is not sustainable but having regular customers that enjoyed your food, specially during the shoulder season is sustainable. Well.. where to start with this. My buddy spoke very highly of this place and as someone who enjoys Vietnamese and Thai food, I thought we'd check it out. It's also walking distance from our condo. Upon arrival, I noticed it was packed. Good sign. We were seated rather quickly and I was excited as the food looked great. The Khao Soi looked the best for sure but, being that I don't eat pork or beef, it was going to be difficult as it came with Pork. I kindly asked our young server if it was possible to serve it without Pork.. she quickly said "no not really because the minced pork is in the chili garlic sauce." Understandable, I thought. I would just get it without the Chili Garlic Sauce and then could add in whatever condiments at the table to make it a bit saucy.. The directions were, just hold the sauce, bring everything else that it shows on the menu to come with (tomatoes, cabbage, garnish and so on). This is where it gets.. weird. The server brings out food for our table (3 of us) and sets down a bowl of noodles in broth in front of me.. our table laughs. I asked what this was and she told me it's what I ordered. I said, I just asked you to leave out the sauce with the pork and then she proceeds to tell me, "you asked for noodles in broth - that's what I wrote down" in an unpleasant tone. Welp.. not going great here. I then ask if she can bring me any of the other items so a couple minutes later she brings out a bowl of cabbage and... "slams" isn't the right word but perhaps purposefully ungracefully "sets" the bowl on the table and walks away. At this point I'm getting a little frustrated because my table is confused as to what is happening and it is very clear that the server has an attitude at this point, which is unfortunate. I know servers work hard and I feel bad to see them stifled - but I had been very friendly the whole time, looking for resolution. After the cabbage is "placed" on our table, I walk up to her at the server bar where there are other employees. I ask if I can get anything else perhaps at which point she smirked and told me she would get the manager. Ok.. sure. The manager promptly comes out of the kitchen, lovely woman, and heard out the situation. At this point I was focused on trying to get something I would enjoy eating so didn't much bother with my difficulties with her staff member. The manager very quickly assesses the situation and helps come to a solution which would be to bring out some chicken I can add to the broth and some jalapenos.. Now we're getting somewhere. She brings it out, I add it to the bowl with some chili paste and soy sauce and we're off.. it was actually really good. She checks in once more which I was happy to see. Then... THEN.. this is the cherry on top and why I still have a bad taste in my mouth. Our original server with the 'tude comes past our table, addresses my friend who got the same dish but without any adjustments as I had problems with, and asks him (only him) how his Khao Soi was- as if to further poke the bear. The broth has so much flavor and body, you can tell it is lovingly made with the intention of delivering the very best. I'm a sucker for spicy tomato broth and was not disappointed at all! Mammoth during the winter needs a place like this serving hot noodles such as Pho. With that said, the pho here was very disappointing. I'm not sure how the broth was made but it had a funky flavor. Did not taste like pho should taste and I couldn't figure it out. The pho was $12 and one size only. The bowl would be comparable to a regular size bowl down in the OC. Options are limited. The place is small so a large group would be hard to accommodate. The only bright side to this is that it's satisfying after a long, cold day of skiing. This location is offering outdoor seating and to go orders. We came for lunch today everything was great! Great quality food, great service, and a friendly atmosphere at the right price. We went for the normal bowls ($10) -this was enough to fill me up and my girlfriend had plenty of leftovers. They also offer large $12 bowls if you're really hungry. I came here on vacation, and this pho was as good if not better than my home town (has a high Asian population). Although they didnt have the any fatty beefs, which some consider more authentic, this is probably the best you'll find out here. Definitely recommend. read more

As soon as you walk in, the aroma hits you, and you just know it's going to be good. I wouldn't hesitate to say that was one of the best bowls of pho I've ever had. The broth is perfect, and must take hours if not days to get that depth of flavor. The Khao Soi was a little different than the curry-forward versions I've had in northern Thailand, but outstanding and delicious; more like a mix of Bun Bo Hue and Tom Yum noodle.
