A great little place at the ferry terminal to grab some really good and fresh seafood. The menu is not extensive, but has some great selections. The food is fresh, flavorful and nicely presented. The smoked chowder and the smoked albacore melt were excellent; and the ginger limeade was refreshing. The modern, communal seating was comfortable and the facility was clean and well maintained. Exceeded my expectations! Very fresh fish, expertly prepared food, good service & reasonable prices for the quality. We had the Fried Rockfish Sandwich, which had a nice & succulent fish with ginger & lime slaw on a milk bread bun. The Fish & Chips consisted of 4 perfectly fried local rockfish served with Harissa aioli, pickled vegetables and cumin spiced fries. The Rainbow Trout Latkes came with two generous slabs of smoked, moist pink rainbow trout, pickled beet hummus & horseradish crème fraiche over a could have thick rounds of potato latkes. We also had the Pristine Fish over Sushi Rice, which was top grade sushi fish slices of a variety, served with Luna Koshihikari Organic sushi rice, baby greens, pickled ginger, avocado & a nice poached egg. Everything was delicious. We were so full and kept eating. This place also sells fresh raw fish which you can either take home to cook or get some sushi grade fish selections. Efficient & helpful service- order at the counter, have a seat at one of the two long tables to share with other diners. Water & drinks including a few nice wine choices are available. I'm a big fan of Nopa and of seafood, so what's not to like?! Oh a recent visit I tried the shrimp arancini and smoked trout latkes. Arancini were a good size and, taste and texture wise, some of the best I've had. Definite repeat item. Latkes were also good - the quality and flavor of the trout were excellent but the pickled beet hummus it comes with didn't really work that well for me. I'll caveat that by saying I'm generally not a huge beet fan so perhaps I could request it without that in future. Service was fast and super friendly and I'm definitely excited to come back and try other items on the menu. Scallops so good they should come with a warning -- best I've ever had!! By far the best scallops and salmon plancha I've ever had! The staff and owner are extremely friendly and welcoming. Holy smoke (fish)! Do not sleep on this place, it's by far the best spot in the ferry building. The fish is so delicious and fresh, everything we had was incredible. The smoked trout latkes were a particularly good treat, and if you like tuna melts, their take on it is one of a kind (really more of a Rueben). My only wish is that the open one in Oakland, but definitely be back here. So good! read more

Nopa fish market has the best quality fresh fish and seafood in the SF Bay Area. I know cause I'm a hook and line fisherman myself. The menu choices are phenomenal with high quality ingredients all made in house. I highly recommend the smoked trout latkes. I also had the rock fish sandwich which is filled with amazing flavor. There"s a few other menu items I"m excited to sample on my next visit. The service is outstanding with all staff knowledgeable about the menu items as well as Nate and Joe at the fish counter and they can fill you in on all the fresh cut fish available. read more

Not sure why there arent more reviews of their fish over rice? But this dish is one damn great chirashi bowl. Fish is super fresh, better than alot of sushi spots. And the attention to detail is spot on. Highlight of the dish is actually the farm to table fresh & pickled vegetables included actually which compliment the fish in such an incredible way that bring out the flavors. I was excited to find a new fish place to try for lunch. I ordered the Fish and Chips to go and a can of sparkling water with tip it was over $35 for a mediocre lunch. If it had been good, the $ would have been steep but okay. They need some regular condiments available like ketchup, vinegar, salt and pepper. It came with a tasteless pink sauce. The fish was fishy, not in a good way, and the fries needed ketchup or salt. There were pickled peppers on the side that didn't entice me to try them. I don't think I'll go back. read more

The weather was so nice that we decided to enjoy the bay view and sitting outside , with out waiting to much we seat on one of the benches in the back of the Ferry Building and start the tasty looking food . We could not stop eating from the first bite to the end and definitely it was the only way to describe the experience Delicious. The team working at the place was very friendly and helpful . I've been here several times since opening and gotten the rockfish sandwich each time. Unfortunately on my latest visit the size of the sandwich had shrunk by almost half- I got 2 small skinny pieces of fish rather than the previous 2-3 medium sized filets and the bun size clearly fills up less of the container. Really yummy food but I don't know if I'll be back because I can't justify a $21 sandwich (28 with tax and tip!) for such a tiny portion of fish. Super disappointing :( read more

Nopa fish is a welcomed addition to the ferry building. I'm sure it will become a go to for locals and visitors alike. I went with the rockfish sandwich which was a massive crispy filet on a buttery roll with delicious slaw that had some jalapeño for a little heat. Don't skip on the raw fish on sushi rice. A selection of sashimi quality fish over perfectly cooked rice. They also have a beautiful fresh seafood counter with pristine fish to take home. Highly recommend for a quick lunch or light dinner. The Pristine Raw Fish over Sushi Rice was good and the fish was clearly fresh, but comparing it to sushi it missed the great flavor that really good sushi fish has. Had hoped it would be as satisfying as great sushi. Still an enjoyable dish and the other ingredients were great, but maybe won't order it again. Won't stop us from coming back! We ordered the Smoked Albacore Melt with cheddar to split. The bread was greasy, the tuna salad was too creamy, the cheese was too heavy-handed, and the sauerkraut seemed absent. It was so greasy-looking and greasy-tasting; no fish, sauerkraut, or cheddar flavor came through, just blandness. It came with more heavy Russian dressing to dip it in. The sandwich was all one-note. We returned it to the counter, stating neither of us could eat it, that we didn't expect this when ordering. Instead of offering us something else, or offering to refund our money, the man at the counter said he'd wrap it for us to take home! I reached out to the company 10 days ago and there has been no response. We paid $30 for this sandwich (with the service fee and tip) and it was, by far, the worst meal we have ever had at the Ferry Building and the most expensive. Sandwiches abound. None as costly and all more tasty. Over the course of the week, we ate at many of the other restaurants and cafes at the Ferry Building. Nopa Fish stood out for its poor food and poor customer service. read more
