The place is tiny, so definitely make a reservation ahead of time as it seemed to get pretty crowded by the time we left, and this was on a random Wednesday night. We had a TON of food, we got a platter of musubi, and the scallop was my personal favorite. The truffle wontons were absolutely standout, and they sent us a pork appetizer that had some standout flavors! We did some wine, and I also tried a lava cocktail, which was pretty good, especially considering how much I love spice. The uni pasta was utterly amazing, and I would've licked the bowl if that had been appropriate. Service was stellar, and staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about menu and plates. A cute and cozy place for Hawaiian food in east village! My friend and I visited on a Wednesday evening around 8:30pm with a reservation - and we were glad we made one, as every table was full. The Polaroids and string lights created such a warm and comfortable ambiance, and we really enjoyed our time here. We tried their spam musubis, skewers, and mentaiko spaghetti. For us, the highlight was definitely the musubis! They were quite tasty and cut into bite sized pieces. We found the mentaiko spaghetti to be a bit bland, but overall we still enjoyed it. What a restaurant! If you're lucky enough to get a table, you're in for a great experience. Whether you want a dinner at ~$30 a person or the kind of exclusive sea food extravaganza that begins with Uni and only gets more indulgent from there you will not be upset. The drink menu is great and the service does great credit to the 50th state and all of its ohana means family marketing. Technically 4.5 stars I was really looking forward to trying this place, and I was not disappointed. We were greeted right away and seated immediately ( with a reservation). The server was very pleasant and attentive. The decor is kinda low key Polynesian. We ordered the assorted pickles for a start. Omg, yes! These change frequently, but we had fennel, mango, and golden beets. Craving them a day later. You must order a musubi platter. I could eat these every day. We had pork jowl, galbi, unagi, scallop. The rice is perfect and each filling was delicious. Dinner was the Chicken Loco Moko and Smoked Fish Tortellini. Both were out of sight. The chicken was juicy and so crispy and flavorful. The gravy with the rice and egg was homey and delicious. The Mac salad was great but I wish it wasn't hidden under the chicken. It got a little lost. The tortellini was top notch. Really unique. If you like the strong flavors of smoked fish, this is for you. And the wasabi cream sauce was perfect. Onto dessert...sadly they were out of bread pudding. We shared the brûlée pineapple and the Hawaiian sundae. The pineapple was crazy good, with the lime juice really popping. The sundae was just ok. Great Hawaiian spot! Came here on a weekday for restaurant week and had a great meal with a friend. Started off with the Pork Jowl musubi, which was pretty decent. For my first course I got the Big-Eye Tuna Poke, which was great. The tuna was divineee. My friend had the Berkshire Pork Cutlet, which I got to try a bite of and it was pretty tasty. My second course was the Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco. So good! Lot going on here with the chicken, egg, mac salad, gravy, and rice but it all goes really well together. My friend ordered the Mentaiko Tagliatelle, which I tried a bite of. Really tasty seafood pasta dish. Finally, for dessert we shared the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. This was the only thing on restaurant week menu that isn't on their regular menu, which is such a shame cause it was amazing! Easily my favorite thing we ate. Overall, had a great meal here. I came here with my friend and we ordered the: - Assorted pickles - Mochiko chicken loco moco - Spam musubi - Spicy salmon tartare musubi - Japanese scallop musubi - Truffle tortellini Each musubi order comes with 3 decently-sized pieces so make sure to put in a few orders if you're not ordering any other main dishes. I thought the scallop musubi was the standout but the spicy salmon tartare and spam were delightful as well. The chicken loco moco was recommended to us by our waitress and it was a great addition to our order - portions are generous and flavors are on point with this one. I'm not sure if they still have the truffle tortellini on the menu but if they do, this is a MUST. There's such a dearth of Hawaiian restaurants in NYC, which makes me oh so sad. This is a pretty good one, even as expensive as it is. It's definitely also popular, and I'm not sure if that's just for Restaurant Week or always. But I can see it: RW is usually filled to the brim with your standard Italian, French, or New American restaurants, so it's exciting when a new spot/cuisine shows up and stands out. We actually started with an a la carte item: the Japanese scallop musubi with nori mayo and lemon. I'm a sucker for fresh raw scallops, and this was delicious with nice creamy citrus notes from the mayo and lemon. Now, onto the RW menu (which did feature items from their regular menu). We split their big-eye tuna poke and tuna belly misoyaki to start. The poke was fine, but the fish wasn't as marinated as I wanted, so it (and the toppings) were a bit bland aside from the pickled jalapeños. Still pretty fresh though. The tuna belly misoyaki was tasty and my favorite of the two. The marinade was really light and added a great savory and umami flavor, and the meat itself was cooked but quite tender. For my entree, I got the mochiko chicken loco moco, and it's definitely a heavy sticks-to-your-ribs kind of dish. The chicken is flavorful and has a great crunch. It almost reminded me of Taiwanese popcorn chicken. But I tend to be picky with my fried food, and there were points where there was TOO much crunch. The mac salad was creamy and a little tangy, the egg was cooked perfectly, and the gravy was nice and comforting (but I wish there had been more of it). Though I would've liked a refreshing element on the plate, I saved half of this and ate it for lunch, and it was incredibly filling, so it's definitely a bang for your buck! I got the mango and pandan pie with whipped cream and puffed rice for dessert, and it was delightful. So many layers of flavors and textures. You have the creamy, fragrant, just-right sweetness of pandan custard. Then there's a slightly more gelatinous mango layer that provides a sweet and tart contrast. The whipped cream on top is so fluffy and wispy and light, and it all went well with the crunch of the puffed rice. So great! I also tried the bruleed Hawaiian pineapple dessert here years ago, and it's a fun twist on regular ol' fruit for dessert if you wanna give it a go. Stopped in for Restaurant Week during lunch a few days ago with a friend and sat outside. Service was prompt and lovely! Overall, I'm a fan... Really feel strongly about a 3.5 rating but it's obviously not an option. Didn't blow me away as a whole but I can definitely say I'm still mostly a fan. My experience here was good/okay/average with disappointments but also had some show-stopping bits and pieces (both detailed below). Ordered the Spicy Spam Masubi which I'd give a 5/10 because it wasn't spicy. Like not even in the slightest. It was sweet and salty. Just because you put pickled jalapenos in something doesn't automatically mean it will have heat, so this was a big disappointment even though I realize "spicy" is subjective (the friend I was with also agreed it wasn't spicy whatsoever). For the restaurant week menu I started with the Bigeye Tuna Poke which was super fresh, great quality and tasty with a nice bit of sesame oil that I enjoyed. Giving this appetizer a 7/10. For my entree I got the Chicken Loco Moco which was DYING for something spicy or acidic. The mac salad was nice and provided a bit of acid but the entire dish was screaming for some kimchee to break it up since almost every component was heavy (fried chicken, hot rice, gravy, egg...). I admit was disappointed in the fried chicken because it wasn't crispy due to everything being piled on top. I saw a few years ago they used to serve the components of the dish separate on the plate which for me would've been much more successful. I would not order this again although the gravy was TO DIE FOR amazing in flavor. Like can I just go and order the gravy alone? Easy to dub this the most delicious chicken gravy I've had in my life. Overall though I'd give the dish a 4/10. Ended with the Brulee'd Pineapple and OH MY GOD! Giving a hardcore 10/10! I almost fell off my seat while eating it. You think it's a simple dish, nope-- the depth of flavor had my palate dancing all over the place. To sum up, if you come here you cannot leave without ordering a side of the gravy (do whatever you want with it, I'd probably just drink it like soup) and the Brulee'd Pineapple for dessert. read more

Came for restaurant week, there are a lot of choose from from the menu for $39 dinner. I had the tuna belly misoyaki, it's well marinated and lightly seared, still very juicy. Surprisingly a very big portion, not a small appetizer. For the main I pay extra $8 for the uni pasta, it's so creamy and pasta has a great texture, really amazing flavor. Pineapple brûlée was ok, basically a slicked pineapple with torched sugar coating, I would order something else. The cocktails are great if you like sweet drinks, they are with either soju or sake mix, very interesting but not too strong, very easy to drink. Dined here on a Sunday evening. I didn't want to walk in, so I called ahead to see if they had any reservations available for 3 that night, and they were able to take us within 30 mins. Perfect! I'm glad we called ahead because it's really small inside. For appetizers we ordered the galbi musubi, spicy spam musubi, and kimchi radish cake. Musubis were awesome. The kimchi radish cake was a big surprise. I love radish (turnip) cakes from dim sum. This was the same exact style except mixed with kimchi. It was awesome. I loved it!! For my entree I got the shrimp rice bowl. It was garlic and so tasty. It came with tons of shrimp! For dessert they were out of the bruleed pineapples, so we opted for the pandan crème brûlée. Came here again with friends after coming once before and not fully understanding the menu. The first time we only ordered platters of musubi (not realizing that they were like Hawaiian sushi rolls/rice sandwiches). Had we known we were about to get 20 different flavors of the same type of item, we probably would have diversified our order (I just thought musubi meant "appetizer"). While they were all good (truffle spam surprisingly among the top), we were excited to come back and try other items on the menu. Came here for restaurant week over the summer and it was not bad! It was under $50 for an appetizer, entree, and dessert. I got the tuna poke, garlic shrimp, and mango pandan pie. The poke was not bad - was fairly fresh and had flavor to it. I was definitely looking forward to the garlic shrimp but it didn't live up to my expectations. The flavors were all over the place, the shrimp's texture was a bit strange, and the rice was more on the watery/sticky side. We ended with the pie, which was the highlight for me. I don't eat whipped cream but my friends loved that part of it. The two flavors were great together and was not too sweet. As someone from the west coast who frequents Hawaii A LOT, it's definitely not as good as what you'd get on the islands. Although it isn't a bad alternative. Their interior is super cute as well - Polaroids of customers are pinned to the wall. After our meal, we also got to take a picture, design it, and find a place to pin it. One thing, though, was that the service took a while at the end when we were paying. We had been at the restaurant for 2+ hours already and they were taking so long to swipe our cards and give us the bill. We came here and ordered a LOT of food. I personally had part of a musubi platter of pork jowl, galbi, tuna tataki, and spam. I also had the tuna poke along with the garlic shrimp bowl. One of my friends ordered the loco moco, which was very Hawaiian and quite unique. Out of the musubi platter, my favorite was definitely the galbi. The spam was alright and the tuna and pork were pretty good, but the galbi was very flavorful and would definitely get that again. The tuna poke was fresh but a bit disappointed by the size; I was expecting some rice or something more filling, but it was just the fish. However, the fish was still really good. Finally, the garlic shrimp was probably my favorite item of the day. The shrimp was really tender and flavorful - cooked really well! Overall the only downside was that we had to wait a bit (45 mins) for our food, but it was well worth it. That's also only because we came with a larger group of people. read more

This place has been on my to-go list for a while now, and after going there once, I immediately had to go back because Noreetuh is totally a place for trying everything and sharing - not for two petite girls with even smaller appetites. I've absolutely loved pretty much everything I've gotten here, and I now have this on my list of favorite restaurants to recommend. + Spam musubi platter ($20) - 10/10 - You get 4 musubis cut up into 3 pieces each, and the flavors are fantastic. I guess it's not a super great deal if you just get 4 classic ones, but the galbi and the pork jowl ($6 each normally) were considered to be the best at my table. I also liked the spicy spam, tuna, and salmon, but we just ended up ordering more of the pork jowl and the galbi. The galbi comes with a spicy mayo that highlights the decadence of the meat, and the pork jowl comes with a refreshing ginger scallion dressing that complements the richness really well. + Big eye tuna poke ($16) - 9/10 - This is really delicious, but I was surprised when I saw the price tag again; it's a really small portion for how much you get. I think my taste buds are just not discerning enough to be able to tell the difference between this and a $10 large bowl of poke somewhere else. + Skewer sample (?) - 10/10 - Surprisingly, this is not on the menu online; I have no idea what it costs but it was a really great deal on the paper menu because it comes with 2 skewers of each (octopus, cuttlefish, and iberico pork belly). It looks like the online menu is also a little different because it did have five spice bacon the first time I went, but that was gone the second time. I thought all the skewers were amazing, but the iberico pork belly really blew us away; we all thought they were the best by far. The daikon-miso-ginger complements the deep flavor and richness of the pork belly perfectly. + Garlic shrimp bowl ($16) - 8/10 - This was amazing the first time I had it; the garlic rice was addictive, and the shrimp and pineapple mix was fantastic. The second time, though, the rice was less interesting and I didn't think it was as good. Maybe that was a fluke? + Mochiko chicken loco moco ($16) - 9/10 - This was amazing; for $16, it's a very large, filling portion (very interesting to contrast it to the poke). The fried chicken is delicious - flavorful crust, super moist chicken. I would totally get this again. It also comes with the macaroni salad, which is pretty classic. + Mentaiko spaghetti ($24) - 5/10 - This was good, but maybe it would've been better for a single person and not as a shared meal. I barely got any flavor from the mentaiko spaghetti, and the various seafood were not particularly memorable. I would not get this again when there are other far more delicious things on the menu. + Chocolate macadamia nut brownie ($9) - 6/10 - We ended up getting dessert so we could have an excuse to wait out the crazy thunderstorm - totally worth it to stay out of the rain for an extra 30 min, but I wouldn't get this again because it was not particularly noteworthy. Hot brownie + cold ice cream is always good, but I don't think I needed to get this particular rendition. Overall, I loved enough of the dishes to come back again and again; the offerings are unique, and I'm excited to see how the menu changes. read more

I ordered take out from here and the experience was very smooth. The name, Noreetuh, is the Korean word for playground, which is interesting only because it's a Hawaiian place. So don't come here expecting Korean food! I got 2 musubis: the spicy tuna and the galbi. They were both very good and warm. I think the price is reasonable. It's as if you got a sushi roll but it's in a musubi form. For the entree, I got the grilled chicken teriyaki bowl which was smaller than I expected for 17 dollars but it was very delicious! Seems like an intimate and cozy setting with limited seating indoor and outdoor. It wasn't too busy on a Thursday night at 7pm but they started getting busier at 9pm when we left. What we ordered: Musubi - each came with three and I could finish one piece in two bites. We got the spicy spam with pickled jalepenos, tuna tataki, and Santa Barbara uni. We were happy with all three of the choices and would definitely order these again! Katsu sando burger - this was surprisingly good! the katsu was very crunchy and tender and went along really well with the sauce. We split one of these amongst three people but I would recommend sharing between two people or even getting one for yourself because it was that good! Garlic shrimp bowl - I wasn't really amazed by this dish and would rank it the lowest out of all the food we got. I thought there was too much sauce and it overpowered the dish, but the shrimps were good quality and cooked well. Mentaiko Tagliatelle - The sauce was so buttery and savory. I normally don't eat the shrimp head but it was cooked in the sauce and was very delicious. It came with three huge shrimps so it was perfect for my group. Bruleed pineapple - it was more on the tart side than sweet and i felt it wasn't ripe just yet. The candied top was a nice touch but I don't think it was worth the $10 we spent on it. Service was great! Our waitress was really informative and answered all our questions regarding the menu. She did let us know what we ordered was a little light for three people so I think it's good to keep in mind that a lot of the dishes here are pretty small. Absolutely craving some Hawaiian food, and was really happy to see they had the Loco Moco ($19) on their menu. The dish consists of a couple spoons of rice topped by an egg, gravy, and some chicken tenders. Not as large as one would expect from this dish, but all the ingredients are there. Egg runs well over the rice, while the chicken is breaded just right (again, wishing they were bigger pieces). Both the pork and chicken were fried so I wish I chose a different combo of courses that wasn't so heavy. The pineapple upside down cake was delicious but they don't specify if you order it for one person, there's an $8 surcharge. The menu states it's for 2 people but doesn't disclose the additional charge even though 2 other menu items state a supplemental charge. Someone in my group is vegetarian and they didn't have a variety of options to choose from. However, the quality and taste of those courses were good. I also tried the Chocolate huapia sundae, guava cake, and bruleed Hawaiian pineapple. I didn't prefer the sundae because of how it was drowning in whipped cream and how salty the crackers were. The guava cake was very flavorful and sweet. The pineapple was delicious but it didn't stand out. Amazing place - true haven for wine nerds with great food to boot. I went with some friends who are regulars there and had wine and dessert. The bruleed pineapple was light, refreshing, and really well executed. Pandan creme brulee was unique and tasty. Service was phenomenal, we dined outside and had our covered tent area. Mochiko Chicken Loco Moco: our waiter told us we had to try this and it was one of their most popular dishes and I was blown away. Right level of crispness and the gravy was amazing. This was definitely one of my favorite meals that I've had in nyc. I liked the mentaiko spaghetti a lot - would have been better with more uni, but this was super delicious. The musubi was probably the best musubi I've had. The galbi was especially good. We were in NYC this weekend for the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at the Smithsonian and wanted to have an authentic Hawaiian dinner. We set reservations for 8 at Noreetuh, as it was also three of our birthdays that same weekend. The server was awesome, the place was packed, and we had such a great time. The Hawaiian vibe was strong, and the food was fantastic. We shared some appetizers, and I had the crab stir-fried rice. My sister, who is vegan, got the Cow Noodles, and my wife got the Teriyaki bowl. They even made special dishes for the kids, which might not be a regular thing, but it was much appreciated. The desserts were incredible, especially the pineapple. If I were to make any suggestions, it would be to order more. Not because I wasn't filled up, but because the flavors were so great I wanted to try more dishes. The only negative was that the coffee was weak, but I'm used to Starbucks, which is probably too strong. This was a cool place to have Hawaiian food in the city. I'm not sure what Hawaiian food is supposed to be like besides musubi, but the musubis I had were good. I didn't expect better or worse. I ordered the spicy spam and galbi musubis, which come in 3 pieces per type. The wall decorations in the restaurant were really cute and unique. The wall spaces are filled up with small Polaroid pictures. I didn't pay close attention to whose photos they were of, but I'm assuming they're of other patrons who have passed through this venue. I didn't get to try out some of their more tasty dishes besides the musubi, but I give this place points for its uniqueness and overall good vibes. read more

Wow I was totally blown away by how yummy the food was here. I don't think many people can picture what a Hawaiian restaurant entails but coming by and dining- I totally see the vision and story. I ordered takeout from Noreetuh and I would highly recommend! The food was great -- I had never really known what Hawaiian food was -- but decided to give it a shot. For the price and proportion, I was not disappointed at all. Considering I also got this delivered, all the food was still fresh. I would highly recommend the Spicy Tuna Masubi!
