2nd time at Normas, years apart, and different location,similar experience with food. It took us over 25 minutes from walk in on a slow friday after lunch hours to getting our food. 2 other tables came in after and got their food before us. Their Steak meal is def a good value, medium rare request came out more medium, but it was not bad. Cinnamon roll is huge, sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet, I just ate the center since the outside was too bread like.I liked the hash browns. I went back to also eat the country fried steak, but in the end, have no intentions of coming back to Normas, its for sure a good value alternative to WH or ihop, but i'll stick with WH personally read more

First time eating at a Norma's. It was a Monday night about 7pm and I think there was one other table with people eating. This meant there was a lot of wait staff, kids really standing around doing nothing. I ordered the meatloaf which was just OK, the tomato sauce had chunks of bell pepper in it. I'm not a fan, the meatloaf itself was a bit mushy, to the point it was in small chunks rather than slices. The sides were good, I picked home style black-eyed peas, turnip greens, potatoes and gravy all were good. My wife got the fried chicken club salad which was large and she said it was very good. We got a slice each of lemon meringue and coconut meringue to go and enjoyed them at home. Good not great. Probably won't be back unfortunately. read more

For starters, we waited 15 minutes in a slow restaurant to even be acknowledged by the waitress. The food we ordered was not great. Two people who had breakfast said the sausage was flavorless, the hash browns weren't crispy, and the eggs were dry. We ordered chicken fried steak and got chicken fried chicken instead. Blue cheese dressing served didn't remotely resemble blue cheese dressing and tasted terrible. By the end of our meal, it had separated into some oily, mustardy colored goop. The kids menu was sticky and dirty. There was something spilled all over the glass on the picture above our booth. My DSIL commented the next morning our hotel breakfast was better. They did comp us the meal they got wrong, and gave us one of the desserts for free, so they tried to make it right. I will say the desserts are remarkable. read more

Normas is a go to local stop for breakfast or lunch with a southern flair. The inside decor is very old school diner esque if you will. I have been definitely more than once and more so for the breakfast selection if anything. Good staple items, eggs, grits, pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausage etc.... The pies they offer are good but definitely save room if you plan to indulge!! Service and quality tends to be hit or miss best I can say is don't be overly picky. Times my eggs will be spot on, times they aren't. Sometimes I'll ask for crispy bacon and it is, sometimes it isn't. Tables might be sticky, might be super clean lol... Hit or miss... I've been here enough to have this as an understanding. They do get busy!! There is a wait on busier times. In the end the food is good and yummy!! To get it out of the way, yes the food at Norma's in general is pretty good. HORRIBLE SERVICE! I called in an order that they claimed would be ready in 10-15 minutes. No problem. I come in 20 minutes and they say it's wrapping up and to give them 5 more minutes. Fine 45 minutes later STILL NO FOOD! Meanwhile everyone who came in after me and got seated, all enjoying their food. I'm waiting while they bring up order after order and I ask is mine up yet? "Yes" ok where is it?! Nowhere! No apology, no acknowledgment of the fact that I've been standing there for so long. Customers who were sitting at the table eating were commenting and offering me their food. And not one word from the employees. Even if this was an off night for them, the simple fact that there was no acknowledgement and multiple employees walked right by and didn't even say anything or offer anything was enough to let me know you don't deserve my business or my time. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Norma's in Frisco, Texas. This is in the Centre at Preston Ridge shopping mall along the north side of Gaylord Parkway, west of Preston Road. Plenty of parking near the front door! Norma's is pretty big when you see inside, the hostess will help you choose seating. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. The big menu required time to read. All the breakfasts looked amazing, but the Grilled Chicken Salad was my pick. See my photos! The interior is a feast for the eyes, also, a lot of retro decor from Baby Boom era! But, the chicken fried steak was a disappointment because the breaded part of the steak was hard and difficult to cut with the steak knife. This review is just for pie- and it was to go. When you first walk in you know you're in for a special treat. The place is filled with a 50's decor that gives you some nostalgia! The service was awesome and pleasant and the place was pretty crowded for a week day. Being our first visit we wanted to try a few slices of pie- We got the coconut and chocolate merengue pies and a pecan slice. The merengues were light and fluffy with a good and smooth pudding like cream. The pecan was sized generously and had a great flavor. The pie crust on all 3 pies were dried out some and just didn't taste right. Other than that it was a good experience and I would absolutely return. read more

You're first greeted by a mouth watering glass case of home cooked pies all topped with mounds of cream and goodness!! Diner food was what we we're wanting and that's exactly what we got! This was the first and last time I will ever eat at this place. I placed a to go order which included pancake and a meatloaf dinner. When I go home I found they had packed the meatloaf on top of the pancakes. The sauce was inside my pancakes and all over my other food inside the meatloaf container. It was EXTREMELY greasy! Tasted gross! They didnt even provide syrup for the pancakes or butter! Save your money and go to the cotton patch! This was 33 dollars wasted as the meatloaf went straight to the garbage!
