I love coming here mostly for the atmosphere so I can sit outside and enjoy them out in view. One of my favorite places to go in the evening. As a vegetarian, I love their heirloom and tomato bursts small plate. I love going with my friends for meat eaters and Sherry. Michelle explored that also has many different options. Well, I was here today, and I can say this about my experience. The service and care they give here is beyond anything I've ever seen in the restaurant business. They could see if I didn't like something, and even if I didn't want a new dish or to have something changed, they brought everything to the table just in case I wanted it. I am on a low-carb diet, so menus in Italian restaurants are very difficult to find something I can eat on. I ordered the vegetable noodle spaghetti and meatballs. First, the kitchen was backed up, so there was a very long wait. Right when I was getting frustrated, but before I said anything, the manager was there at the table to explain what was happening. When the food did come, most of the vegetable noodles were made from sweet potato. That was very sweet and not what I expected. So I took the meatballs and pushed the noodles aside. The manager came to the table and offered to bring only squash noodles. I politely declined, but they brought them anyway just in case. We took them home in a box and they didn't charge me for my meal anyway. I can't say enough about the staff at this place. Our waiter was great and stayed on top of everything, even though the place was packed. I was in a bad mood to begin with, and they still made me smile. I mean, honestly, how good of an experience can you expect going to an Italian restaurant and trying not to eat any carbs. These guys went above and beyond to make me happy. Recently came here for a group dinner of 8. Loved the service our waiter was very attentive, made sure all of our cocktails were refilled and got all the orders to the dot. Everything looked and smelled amazing as they walked my friend and to our table. We each tasted a sip of wine before deciding; I got the super Tuscan and it was awesome. We each got the simple salad & split the funghi pizza. They bring comp bread with oil/balsamic which looked great, but passed it up because we got pizza. The menu has a ton of great options, it was very hard to decide. We also got the bomba sauce on the side to dip our crust and pizza in. Went to dine on the 13th and had a terrible time. To begin once we were sat it took awhile (around 20mins) for our appetizer to come out, it was a simple burrata and bread (it was pretty good). After the appetizer came out we put in our food order as soon as we could and even then the food took an hour to come out. Our waitress hardly checked in on us and did not even apologize for the food wait. Other tables were sat after us and finished their dinners before us. The manager came to speak with us once the food was ready and apologized for the wait. Not the first time we have encountered poor service and at the time we went the restaurant was not very busy. North Italia has a fantastic, busy atmosphere. We went during brunch on a Saturday, do note that the "lunch" menu you might find on weekdays is distinct from the "brunch" menu they have on weekdays. The calamari fritti was fantastically crispy, with a delightful fresh vegetable giardiniera salad to accompany it. The cocktails and wine spritzers they had on their menu were pricy, but worth every cent. And the espresso martini was one of the best I've had in Tucson! With Oat milk, which allowed a dairy-allergy diner like myself enjoy it completely guilt free. Kira was a fantastic server who went the extra mile to accompany our allergies. Highly recommend, albeit, expect a pricier dining experience for lunch. read more

I wrote a review June 25th I called the manager and they were going to contact me back and I received no response. So if you have a problem with this restaurant, you're not going to get any feedback you're on your own. The bill came out to $124.14 for the most disgusting meal ever and trust me I used to love going to north. Everything was undercooked. I had scallops that were barely warm ...slimy. My partners chicken was raw ...inedible. It was a special occasion and we made the most of it and we didn't complain because we wanted to keep the night joyous but the next day we compare notes and we both had horrible meals. I wish I can find my original review but it's around June 25th Anyway, we are never going to north again. The food really was disgusting and this is from a person who used to go to North all the time and was very pleased with the food, the service. So they lost two customers. We love the Fox Restaurant Concepts, and this is one of the ones we haven't tried yet. We decided to stop by for the Happy Hour, though truthfully the entire menu looked absolutely delicious. This location was pretty busy, we had booked reservations as it was a Sunday night. Several couples arrived at the same time as us, including another couple of two without reservations who were seated 4 minutes before us! How frustrating! We finally were seated and our waiter was very attentive, couldn't ask for more from him. We received the complimentary bread and butter which was ok, but nothing special. The bread was doughy and lacked a nice crustiness. We ordered the pizza margherita, which was ok, but I would not go back for it. Crust wasn't crispy enough and the dough was a little on the heavy side. I'm not sure if this was the norm or if they were just rushing pizzas out as fast as they could because it seemed there was a huge backup in getting them out. Tomato sauce on the Margherita was overwhelming and a little strong in terms of a pizza Margherita. The basil did not stand out at all on the pizza as it should (it just tasted like mixed herbs) - not sure if this was a result of the heavy dough and sauce? The zucca chips were delicious, but a bit too greasy to have these too often. I almost think a little vinegar or lemon would have cut the greasiness. We noticed there were lots of staff members walking around with little getting done. The whole dining room seemed very disorganized and might be why were were seated after the couple who didn't have reservations. I can't confidently say I'll be back. read more

For our Saturday brunch, we decided to do something different! We didn't go out for brunch after all. However, I wanted to go to La Encantada to do some shopping at MAC, Coach & Victoria's Secret. So we chose to go to North Italia which is on the east side of La Encantada- by RA & Firebirds. They seated us within 5 minutes which we were surprised because the place was so busy. We were seated outside and it was amazing. They immediately took our drink order and got the Bloody Maria (tequila instead of Vodka) and a Newtown Chardonnay. What we were so excited to order, though, was the calamari and prosciutto bruschetta. The prosciutto bruschetta is topped with crescenza cheese, grilled asparagus, truffle (my favorite), and grana padano. This delicious appetizer was toasted perfectly! Hubby and I shared which is a perfect size for two. The crispy calamari is true to its title- CRISPY. Very flavorful and a perfect pair with some kale. The main entrees was what I was waiting for! I was cravings some carbs and gave in on some Spaghetti & Meatballs (you can substitute the pasta for gluten free or vegetable noodles). My husband ordered The Pig pizza- spicy pepperoni, soppressata, and Italian sausage. The picture didn't do any justice because once we got our first bite in, it tasted so much better than it looked. It was very filling and had to take a lot home. Who doesn't love leftovers?! We had a great time at this amazing place and we were also greeted by one of my good friends and great person, Matt! I wish I could give this a half a star extra. The food was all delicious. The cocktails were very good and were definitely boozy enough. We had the meatballs as an appetizer and they were so good, the ricotta polenta base was delicious. My husband and I shared the spicy rigatoni vodka, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. We also got the spicy meatball pizza but seriously, what were we thinking?! That was way too much food! We did each have one bite of the pizza and found it to be very flavorful and just plain yummy. We will enjoy our leftover pizza tomorrow! Our server was great and he was attentive although he was very busy. We had a great dinner and drinks. Visiting the area for the first time and I was looking for a nice, chic spot to have quality dinner and cocktails. North Italia exceeded my wants and needs! I was promptly greeted at the host stand by a woman who directed me to an open spot at the bar (which I specified I was looking for). Mary was the bartender and she was so very hospitable. Went here with some out of town friends to show them a nice restaurant in Tucson. We have been here quite a few times and have had great food and service, and sometimes not so great food and / or service. The restaurant is wide open and spacious and is buzzing with lots of patrons during the dinner hours. It is hard to get a table if you don't have a reservation during these hours. We had a party of six, and were seated out on the back patio which was secluded from the noisier inside of the main restaurant. This is nice to be able to talk without having to raise your voice very much. Or wait staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered drinks and eventually dinners, and knew that the portions are large for what they serve you. So, we decided to split an entree and our other couple in our party decided to do the same, but did not ask to have the Entre split. Once our meals arrived we had nice split plates on our entree, and our friends that didn't split their plate asked for a separate plate so they could split the entree themselves. Unfortunately, we knew there was a split entree added charge but did not realize that it was going to be $6 for each plate. We ended up paying for the split plates but our friends did not. The food here is great, but for the price, it should be exquisite, which it wasn't. Drinks are expensive here as well, so be forewarned. I wanted to get a Rusty Nail for a cocktail but they didn't have Drambuie, so that was a disappointment. A place like this should have a completely stocked bar. Also, we got to the restaurant before 6 pm, which was during happy hour, but was told you can't have happy hour prices on the back patio (for some reason). What a deal. So, we will probably not be back to the great North again, as they have very high prices and silly rules that are not reasonable. So many other places to eat in Tucson without breaking the bank and not dealing with unexpected frivolous charges. read more

It did seem like they forgot our order after we asked how much longer we would need to wait -- at which point we had been waiting for at least 45 mins for our food. While I understand mistakes happen, the manager disregarded how we waited for an hour. We felt the least they could do was to take care of our appetizer or just apologize or provide a simple explanation as to why our food was so late. I realize they are busy for Friday lunch, but the fries for the chicken Parmesan and meatball sandwiches were cold. The sandwiches were barely lukewarm. We ordered food which does not take long to prepare (calamari and two sandwiches). We did ask for the manager, who was apologetic. He comped two dishes and offered dessert. One guy got his pizza (see pic) so burned it was amazing the expediter, runner, and server all let it get to the table. After food was served, two different people asked if we wanted drinks. My friend recently took me here and I am so glad she did. I was craving a burger and fries after a late night, so their Zucca Chips (fried zucchini "chips" that are light and outrageously delicious) and juicy burger hit the spot. Their happy hour made the huge wine list really affordable, so my friend sampled them, but I couldn't resist a Julietta with its gorgeous edible flower on top. I also tasted the Rosemary and Lime cocktail. The bartenders are true masters in the art of mixing drinks. I took my mom out later for her birthday and we splurged with the Italian Meatballs in a zesty house made marinara perched atop creamy polenta, sprinkled w grana padano (like a thickly shaved softer Parmesan). We followed with their lovely simple salad (farm greens, campari tomato, toasted pine nut, gorgonzola vinaigrette) and the butternut squash anolini with broccolini, arugula, hazelnut crumble, grana padano-all in a delicious buttery sauce. And I have to mention the bread and olive oil-so fresh and decadent. Mom chose their hazelnut torte w gelato for her bday dessert on the house. It was truly a perfect birthday meal and our waiter made it epic. In fact both times are service went above and beyond.
