I love North Italia no matter where I am. So when we were a little late on the uptake for a Mothers Day dinner rezzie I was hopeful North would have a spot for us and they pulled through! This location is at the Encantada so there's plenty of free and abundant parking although it appears they also do valet. We ordered a few things: 1. The truffle bread. Omg this is one of my favorite things here. The bread is so fluffy and the truffle with that ricotta, mmm! Delightful and perfect for sharing. 2. The prosciutto and arugula pizza. Very tasty and great for sharing as well. 3. The rigatoni alla vodka. This was my first time ordering pasta here and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This and the pizza made for great leftovers. 4. The chefs board. This was okay. It's their version of a charcuterie board and it was honestly just kind of mid for the price. My only nit is the service which as expected on a holiday was pretty slow.

Came here to celebrate a family member's birthday. It was our 1st time here. There were 13 of us and 4 kids. They had us in the back room which was nice due to it being a bit private. Our waiter Isaiah was awesome so kudos to him. The 3 stars is for the food. The highlights were the focaccia, which our other table ordered, and the garlic bread. The focaccia came with 3 different toppings or dips. All the flavors were on point there. The garlic bread was so good, I'm not sure if they make their breads in house but A+ for those. Although the rest of the food wasn't terrible, it was nothing special. I sat there thinking about how much we spent on food that was just mediocre in flavor. I got the ricotta cavatelli which was cooked well but the flavor was off for me. It needed some pepper or something. My husband got the spicy rigatoni vodka pasta and although the spice was there and quite nice, there was also not much depth of flavor. We got a grilled cheese which was ok. Although it's just a grilled cheese, there could have at least been some seasoning on it somewhere. I did not taste the meatball sliders but my boys seemed to enjoy the meatball, they didn't eat the bread. The grilled artichoke was alright. I felt it was a little dry but it is grilled so I don't expect it to be like a steamed one would. The hazelnut torta was not bad. The gelato was okay, it had a subtle hazelnut flavor. The presentation of the dessert was nice and the cake was moist and very chocolatey which I'm not complaining about. I did not try the donut holes but 1 of my children liked them. My husband tried it and said it was good but it had too much sugar on it. Total it was $175 after tip. I don't ever mind spending money on food BUT it has to be worth it and unfortunately for us it did not hit the mark. Overall the atmosphere and our waiter were amazing. I don't think we are their target audience food wise though. Felt like everything was a bit bland. The birthday girl was disappointed in the food as well. I honestly don't know or don't think they do anything special for birthdays like chain restaurants do, but we ended up just singing happy birthday outside. I still recommend trying it out but we will not be back unless someone else chooses to eat here like this visit.

The restaurant is very attractive. You can eat inside (as we did), on a deck in back of the restaurant with views of the mountains, or on their patio. Although not formal, this does scream upscale Italian. We started with to half-portion salads. My wife had Little Gem Caesar Salad ($11 for half portion) which comes with grated grana padano, gem lettuce, and croutons. She felt that she would have enjoyed a more traditional version with Caesar dressing (she said it tasted more like Ranch dressing). I had the Italian Cobb Salad ($12.50 for a half portion). It comes with sopressatta, calabrese, pistachio mortadella, fresh mozzarella, provolone, heirloom tomato, pepperoncini, olive, cucumber, piquillo pepper, herb breadcrumb, and oregano vinaigrette. I LOVED this salad; it had great variety, texture, and taste. An A plus for sure. For entrees, my wife had the Bolognese, which is listed as the "House Specialty" for $26). It comes with meat sauce, pappardelle, grana padano, and oregano. Ever since going to Italy this year, my wife has been on a quest to find a match to her favorite Bolognese. Unfortunately, this wasn't it. It lacked the depth of flavor that a well-made, slow-to-cook Bolognese must take to get that depth of flavor. Also, it was extremely salty, which should not have been the case. However, I very much enjoyed the Trottole Chicken Pesto ($24), even more than I expected (sometimes pesto isn't to my liking, but this was excellent). It comes with basil, shaved garlic, toasted pine nut, and crispy capers. The service was professional and attentive. In addition, my wife has a glass of the La Volte Super Tuscan wine, which was quite good, but pricy at $17.50 a glass. So all in all, kind of a mixed bag. I very much enjoyed what I had, but my wife wasn't as lucky in her selection. Our price for two half salads, the two entrees, a glass of wine and a Coke came to $102 before tip. I wavered between three stars and four stars, but went with four-stars because I very much enjoyed what I had. However, based on my wife's salad and entree, along with the high price of the food and wine, it would have been three stars. I would still recommend North Italia for dinner, but your conclusion might vary by the specific selections you make.

It's a nice place with a great patio. It has good happy hour drinks. The Old Fashioned is so tasty with the hazelnut. The food was the problem. It is extremely over seasoned. Our tongues were burning after the Caesar salad- way too much lemon, pepper and salt. Then came the cacio e Pepe pizza- COVERED in crushed red pepper and pounds of cheese. It made the pizza so heavy. It reminded me of Pizza Hut. Italian pizza should be lighter. Even the crust was salty. When the waiter asked - red pepper or cheese- I thought he was stating what was on the pizza lol Service was good. Drinks were good. Go for happy hour drinks. Skip the food.

Horrible overpriced unappealing undercooked stringy 2 thin slices of eggplant with severely over salted sauce, and a smattering of wilted arugula instead of fresh basil leaves as advertised. Couldn't really eat it. Never again. If this is how they treat their delivery customers, no thank you.

Busy Friday night and the wait was about 30 minutes. We asked if we could get a drink at the bar and the nice gentleman looked inside and said there were 2 seats at the end of the bar that we could take. As we walked in to grab them it turned out there was only one seat. That man saw this and quickly gave us a table in the bar which was totally unexpected and appreciated so we made it our spot for dinner. North is very busy and quite loud. Service was very, very slow. Took about 30 minutes to get our first cocktails and another 10 for the Arancini we ordered at the same time. An expiditor was soon on the run and quickly bringing dishes out and getting cocktails refreshed for guests. Greatly appreciated! Drinks were delicious and the Arancini with pesto aioli was incredible. Unfortunately with the wait, our appetites had waned by the time our entrees came out so we ate a bit and packed it to go home. My husband really liked his lasagna and my strozzapreti was very rich and creamy (2 characteristics of a dish I don't usually enjoy) and very tasty. The pine nuts on top add a delicious layer of flavor. I've been to North for lunch when it was much more manageable time wise and think I'll stick to the midday meal. Delicious food all around

We came to North Italia to celebrate my friend's birthday and had such a great experience! They seated us in a private room, which made it feel extra special. The waitstaff was incredibly attentive the whole evening and made sure everything went smoothly. We started with the bread and the zucca chips--both were perfect starters and disappeared quickly. I ordered the farm Italian salad, and it was so fresh and delicious. The peppers added the best little kick of flavor. Such a wonderful night with great food, atmosphere, and service. Definitely recommend North Italia for any celebration or just a night out!

I went here Friday night after yoga in the courtyard at Long Encontada. I had a group of nine and made reservations prior. We were able to be sat within 5 to 10 minutes. It was a pretty busy night, but our friendly server kept the mood light and kept us updated on our wait times for food. I ordered zuppa chips as an appetizer, which is zucchini. They were really good, especially with the sauce that came with however there were so many broken pieces and small bits that were difficult to eat as they kept getting lost in the sauce. I would recommend they give less of the small bits and pieces. I also ordered a pasta, but instead of the sausage, I got short rib. It was really good. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. Lastly, I just want to say that Sean M. whipped up our group separate tabs so fast, we were in shock. It was literally the most carefree, easy breezy group meal checkout I've ever had at a restaurant. I don't know if North has made it easy for their servers to do so, or other restaurants just make this process difficult.... All I know is this is how it should be. In addition to that, the ability to pay your tab by the QR code on the receipt was a godsend! Again so easy, painless and fast! Great meal but like other reviews have mentioned, not very vegan friendly. I am shocked at the menu I saw after seeing so many complaints that date long ago. It seems the restaurant chain has not paid mind to these opinions. That's disappointing.

Disappointed. Had a reservation for 5 at 6:15. We were promptly seated which was nice. We ordered at 6:25, I ordered the chicken parmigiana. After about a half an hour went by. I was told by the server they had ran out of the chicken parmigiana. I then ordered the spicy rigatoni vodka. All of our meals then arrived at 7:40. Over an hour after being seated. Several water glasses at our table were emptied and not refilled. So service in my opinion was poor. Once served the food was actually very good. Restaurant was busy, yet service was poor.

The seasonal vegetable salad with salmon I had for dinner was one of the best salads I've had in town! The roasted veggies and goat cheese paired so well together and the salmon is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I think this place is overpriced, but the food is yummy. The service was okay, the server did let us know the kitchen was behind, and it took at least 40 minutes for our food. We were not in a rush so it was fine. Definitely make reservations, they were BUSY!

Stopped by for lunch after a visit to the Apple Store at La Encantada. Initially, I was going to get a pizza, but then I saw the spicy Italian grinder, which looked really good. The sandwich is amazing, made more so by the freshly baked and toasted bread.

I think they have the best margherita pizza in Tucson. You would think a margherita pizza is pretty difficult to screw up, but once you've had the one at North - with a sweet tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, and fragrant, fresh basil - you'll realize that every other restaurant is doing it wrong! Their happy hour is exceptional, offered all day on Sundays. Their bottle and board special is perfect for date happy hour. Or split a bunch of their pizzas for a group happy hour. They always have a rotating pizza special, too. It can get really busy during lunchtime on Sundays and service can be slow. But that's understandable given how large the restaurant is. This is also probably the most beautiful restaurant I've been to in Tucson. They strike the perfect balance between rustic, "industrial chic", and elegant, but without being too fancy. I've definitely showed up here on a Sunday afternoon in hiking clothes with no judgment from the hostess. Even their bathrooms are nicely decorated. Their open kitchen is so fun to watch. Major props to the interior decorator! I've never been here during non happy hour but am excited to try their real menu for dinner sometime. Also if you subscribe to Fox Restaurants emails then they often have discounts that you can use during non-happy hour. read more

I tried this place out for the first time, I ordered online because of covid even though now they have dining inside. The woman who took my wifes order forgot to give it to the kitchen. We had to wait awhile to get everything straight but eventually we got our order. The manager was so nice (maybe the owner?) he gave our entire meal for free. I was surprised but even more on how tasty the food is. Maybe it tasted better because it was free but I can say the pizza was pretty decent. The meat balls and pasta were ok, generally not a favorite of mine but my wife enjoyed it. I had the bolognese pasta which reminded me of lasagna and was fairly tasty with some cheesy flavor added to it (more like a goulash than a pasta). No complaints and they were taking care of customers as it was busy. Will be back for sure. Pizza was my favorite, sauce was sweet and what would be expected, cheese was good and crust was crunchy. read more

We ordered delivery tonight and were very disappointed in the super small portions given the high price. I never write yelp reviews but felt compelled. The $23 salmon was the size of a post it note and the $8.5 arugula salad was maybe 1 cup of arugula with dressing. Big waste of money. read more

My dad and I were completely blown away with this place. The atmosphere was so pretty! A decent amount of the bus boys were very handsome and the hostesses were gorgeous. The price of the food is not that expensive and I highly recommend getting pasta as it is freshly prepared! GET THE TRUFFLE BREAD AT AN APPETIZER, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT. Best bread I have ever had! I got the chicken parm and it needed more sauce, but the parmesan noodles were amazing. Definitely coming back in the future, wow! read more

If you miss McMahon's dessert menu as much as I do (RIP champagne fried strawberries), then North has a great selection to choose from. I don't often order dessert because folks tend to add too much sugar to the dishes, but this one played well with my palate. We ordered the tiramisu here, and it is the second best in town, next to Allegro's. They add texture to it so that you are not overwhelmed with mousse and coffee--brilliant! We also ordered the sea salt caramel budino--oh my goodness I couldn't get enough of it. It is a pudding that was sweet enough to make you take your time eating it, but leaves you wanting another bite (and yet another bite) as your evening meal comes to a close. So in love with the new decor! I feel like I'm in the south of France, in a quaint little village restaurant! The patio is so inviting and comfortable! Love the fire pits all over the place. This will be so perfect when it gets cooler outside. We went on a Monday night for my sister's birthday. We had drinks at the bar. Fabulous service! Quick and helpful. Ashley even went to check for a bottle of wine that was not on the list for us. We closed our tab with her and were seated at a high top outside. Ashley brought our check to us. A manager introduced our server to us and she was fantastic! Very helpful with the new menu items and very attentive! The chef's board is amazingly yummy! And I think the "add-on" options are a great idea! Artichokes were delicious of course. Salads were fresh and yummy, pizzas were crispy and hot. We could have eaten everything on the menu. Twice! :). I love the chilled water in carafes on the tables, and the little glasses used for wine. The manager checked on us numerous times and was very nice and pleasant! I can't wait to go back again! I really like this place.. really loving their new menu too. I remember coming here before their menu change and I wasn't too impressed with much, but since coming here for brunch this past weekend everything on their menu looked delicious.. small dogs are also allowed on the patio so that was a plus ! They have great breakfast/brunch options as well as fresh squeezed juices! Ambiance+service deserves an A+ too read more

Had a team lunch here that was great. Excellent food, good service and nice atmosphere. A typical Fox Concept restaurant. Simple menu (front page) and cocktails (back page). Good mix of choices, and moderate prices (for la Encantada at lunch) The calamari appetizer was perfectly prepared and tasty. Be sure to try the zuca chips too. They seem healthier than potato chips, but I wouldn't use that excuse. I had the spaghetti & meatballs, nice portion size and flavorful meatballs. Our table pretty much did the menu, and all were satisfied with their choices. One of the vegetarian pasta dishes looked really tasty. Didn't try the cocktails, but the bar looked well stocked, and elegant. Not cheap, but a good splurge, and a nice environment. A good Fox Concepts offering, and an enjoyable visit. read more

GLUTEN FREE GREATNESS HAS BEEN ACHIEVED. For a freaking Italian place, this is totally unheard of. I have to admit, I mourned the loss of eating Italian food when I had to go gluten free, and finding GOOD pasta at a restaurant is a first for me. I had a butternut squash dish with brussel sprouts and some sort of delicious butter. It was divine. The gluten eaters at the table were delighted by it. I ate all of it, even though we were headed to a wedding and I had a dress to fit in to. It simply did not matter, I completely over-indulged. Then the manager actually gave me the name of the kind of pasta they use. Nice, nice people there. Groovy vibe. They were fine with the three infants in our party and the endless drink refills. I would go back in one second if we lived near by. Thanks for popping my gluten-free-Italian-food-in-a-restaurant cherry, NoRTH. And yes, I did just write that. read more

Great place. As noted in earlier reviews, it can be a bit noisy inside, but there is outside seating as well. Friendly knowledgeable wait staff and great food are the hallmarks of this fantastic place by Chef Sam Fox. We went for lunch had the meatballs and grilled bread to start, spicy shrimp pasta, and pesto chicken pasta. All were remarkable! Portion sizes were perfect and we felt like we got what we paid for. We topped all of this with a bottle of 2006 Long Meadow Ranch Cab. At $50 a bottle, this is a remarkable find for a great price. read more

My daughter and I dined here during a mom/daughter mini vacation. I can't tell you how much we love this place! The service is spectacular, the food amazing and the adult beverages are wonderful! I had a ahi tuna special and it was fantastic! Out server was Aiden and she was quite possibly the friendliest server ever! She made our dining experience great. She is a huge asset to this restaurant. We even took the time to talk to the manager to tell him how much we enjoyed our visit and how great Aiden was. I highly recommend a trip to North, you will not be disappointed. Delicious food and a wonderful dining experience. read more

$125 for two people later and all we have to show for it is food poisoning. These guys need need to address their food safety issues and probably compensate us for the awful food poisoning. Don't order the seafood pasta, for sure. Just saying. Also just read another recent review on Google noting someone else felt sick from eating here. Definitely be careful. read more

M-E-D-I-O-C-R-E! Too bad because the building/interiors are really nice. The artichoke appetizer was not good...tough/flavorless, the wine that I wanted was unavailable and the replacement...really late in arriving at the table, the pappardelle pasta was with the braised short ribs was pretty good but the sauce really lame. Ambiance 4 stars Food 2.5 stars Service 2.5 stars Needs to be better!!! read more

I will say up front they get five stars for the service, our server was charming - very enthusiastic, had good knowledge of the food ad wine, and checked in on us to ensure we were happy. Food was good - solidly executed and tasty. The menu would be better with a few more options but no complaints. The hit was the charcuterie plate - a big heaping portion of prosciutto, olives, two cheeses, almonds, apriccot jam, eggplant confit, toast, yum - plenty for the three of us. The wine list offers a good selection - we tried a super Tuscan from the reserve list and it was a good value at $62. The regular list has some good affordable options. Love the open kitchen, and although the place was packed on a Friday evening our orders were up quickly. I had the short ribs over polenta - fork tender and savory. Squid ink pasta was also good, perhaps could have used a bit more of the seafood. Tortellini also a thumbs up. read more

My 76 year o ld dad called in an order for pick up, the employee who answered the phone didn't ask my dad for a credit card, which made my dad worried that his order would not be put through. He asked that the employee repeat the order back to make sure he got it. When we went to pick it up, there was no evidence of his order. They asked me to confirm that he in fact called this location. My dad checked his phone log and confirmed that it was in fact the right location. The employee said they couldn't find it but to go ahead and give her the order again and that I would need to wait 25 minutes. I asked several times what happened and between the first employee that helped me and the manager that I asked to speak to- the solution was "next time don't have him order it so ahead of time but rather only 30 minutes before. When there's a shift change, orders fall through the cracks". Really?! You put the ownership back on my elderly father? How about you take a look at your process and ensure this doesn't happen again and take full responsibility? I appreciated the apology and the discount, but this really should have been an opportunity for you to see the lack of process you have in place and fix it. read more

Boyfriend picked this restaurant for our last dinner while I was visiting Tucson. He swore up and down the calamari salad was amazing, and the views of the entire city at sunset would be amazing. He was right, on both counts. Before dinner, we were given a little bowl of olives, as well as some fresh bread with sun dried tomato butter -- both were tasty! We decided to order a few things to share instead of individual meals (that's just how we do): Bruschetta (Crescenza Cheese, Asparagus, Prosciutto di Parma) -- i normally hate asparagus, but this was so light and tasty! plus, i'm a sucker for anything with prosciutto on it.....which leads us to.l.... Pizza (Figs, Prosciutto and Goat Cheese) -- i wasn't nuts about figs, but boyfriend really wanted it so i totally caved (hey, he made the pouty face, i can't say no to that!). Being from Jersey, I expected Arizona pizza to be a total farce of what I consider real pizza -- but i was wrong! crispy thin crust, perfect amount of toppings (though i did pick off some of the figs, too sweet for me), and i discovered that i actually like goat cheese after a terrible past experience! Calamari Salad (Crisp Calamari, Baby Arugula, Grilled Lemons) -- OH. MY. GOD. barely any breading on the calamari, nice and crispy on a bed of fresh arugula with a really nice dressing (lemony vinagrette? i dunno). so so good. It was the perfect amount of food for us, and didn't leave us feeling overstuffed and gross. We decided some dessert was in order: Vanilla Gelato (boyfriend's pick) -- creamy and packed with vanilla bean specks, just the way it should be. blueberries too! yummy :) Tiramisu (my choice) -- okay, now Tiramisu can go wrong if you don't make it right. This was obviously made fresh and with a great recipe -- all the flavors were there without being muddled -- AND the cookies weren't oversoaked and mushy (which usually happens if you make a large tray of it and let it sit) The service was great too -- the waiter were really friendly, let us pick a table that was secluded and had a nice view, and made suggestions as to their personal favorites on the menu (dude that suggested the bruschetta, you are awesome!) The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated -- felt cozy and inviting. I can't wait to go back! read more

Beautiful interior and exterior design. Very modern. The food was very tasty and the cocktails are great. They bring freshly made bread and butter. We ordered pasta with shrimp and it was very good. Are you ready to order? Why yes, I'll have one of each...why not?? And throw one of those white cosmo's in there while you're at it. Ok, ok, ok. Maybe that's not what really happens, but if I could order a tasty sampling of each item on the menu...I would. Definitely "must order" menu items for me are: Fresh Mozzarella/tomato/basil/balsamic appetizer, Shrimp Fettuccini or Mushroom & Truffled Arugula Pizza and the to die for nutella dessert. read more

Pricey, but sooo good! They start with fresh baked bread that is hot and cooked to perfection. Every entree I have ordered had been great. The atmosphere is great for a date, and the patio perfect for a group. We don't come often as it is on the expensive side, but fun for a date night. read more

I ordered the chef's board, I see, by the rest of the pictures, ingredients change... some of the stuff was ok, not great, but I did enjoy most of it... tea selection is bad, I did not want to drink anything with sugar, and brought my stevia... but they only had black tea and passion fruit, I'm tired of both so I conformed with just water... during my first minutes there, since, I have to say, water tasted like mushrooms, I was with a very large group, so I tried different jars, ALL of them were horrible, I had to end up asking for wine because for the 1st time in my life, I could not drink a restaurant's water, it was so disgusting... they say it's purified with osmosis, I think, more like mushroomsis. Good side of the story, we were able to reserve a private room, the waiter was amazing, I mean, AMAZING, great service. You can see how they cut the pasta they make there, and decoration is gorgeous, like a cottage with very modern accents. I asked for the sweetest wine they had, and the waiter offered me one that was not on the menu, and I absolutely loved it. North is one of the places when I am in Tucson I almost always have to visit. The food ranges from light plates to full meals, the selection is great and the service always friendly. I have dined inside and on their patio. Both are great with the inside having a light airy atmosphere and the patio providing some views while still feeling cozy. On this last visit the only disappointment was the grilled Artichoke. Having recently had several great experiences at other restaurants with this edible thistle I thought to try it again at North. It was bland and disappointing. It might have just been a bad batch. As a testament to how much I like North I had them cater my fathers memorial gathering. (He liked it when I took him to North so it was fitting from that point of view) The group who attended also had nothing but rave reviews. Second time at this restaurant although visits separated by a couple of years. Last night, dinner for two and it was absolutely wonderful. Service was very attentive from both the waitress and the support staff. Drinks were kept topped off and plates were cleared on a timely and discreet manner. Wife had the artichokes for an appetizers (with waitresses recommendation) and thought they were wonderful. I had the caprece and the mozzarella/ricotta combo together with the excellent balsamic made for a great appetizer. For mains, wife had the eggplant pizza and asparagus for a side. Te asparagus rated as among the best prepared asparagus my wife (a vegetarian) had ever had. The pizza was delicious but, was very large for a single person. I'd had the bucatini and it too was very tasty although the portion there could have been a bit larger! We split the Nutellas cake and it was excellent. A long time ago I gave a bad review on this restaurant. I take it all back. Katie Y is our server today. She is friendly, informative and exactly what makes me come back to a restaurant. Then when the sun hit our table two other servers (don't know their names) brought an umbrella to our table without asking. THAT is customer service!!!! Thank you North! I'm now a loyal customer. Ps....I will say. The last several times I have been here have been just as awesome! I believe the last servers name was Nick. When I asked for salsa. He ran to the the a fellow fox restaurant to grab me salsa. Bravo! read more

So disappointed. It took more than 90 minutes to be served. The food-soup, bread and pasta were room temperature at best. No server asked about our meal. Portions were small for the price but what did it matter? Not going to get any warmer with more. Lesson learned. read more

This boisterous, active restaurant offers great, creative Italian cuisine with fantastic bread, good cocktails, amazing pasta, and well prepared proteins. Open disclaimer, I've been to TWO yelp events at North. However, I was SO IMPRESSED with those events, that I selected North for my own holiday party. I booked the front patio and the special event coordinator, Mariah, was so professional, helpful and made lots of special accommodations for me. The night of the event, the staff were great and even helped us setup our own decorations. They were all about smiling and happy-to-help attitudes. The fire pits and heaters made it such a great location. The appetizers were all accented with truffle oil, which I love. The bruschetta had great prosciutto and a little crunch of asparagus to go with the drizzle of truffle oil. The zucca chips were addictively simple and delicious. They also had spicy/sweet nuts and some castelvetrano olives (which are my favorite type!) The soup was a good tomato bisque, but by far my favorite thing was the braised beef short ribs with gnocchi, horseradish, arugula and bread crumbs. The beef was exceptionally tender and fall-apart moist. The peppery arugula went well with the creamy sauce. The breadcrumbs provided a bit of a crunch and the gnocchi was tender and fluffy. It provided a great range of textures and all the flavors worked well together. I would certainly order it again. I had a few bites of chicken parm which was impressively moist and better than I expected. I also has a few bites of salmon with butternut squash risotto which was tasty. They graciously added the French toast (from the brunch menu) to the desert list at no extra cost and everyone who ordered it was blown away. (P.s. It's actually bread pudding sliced and sautéed and served like French toast). I got the Nutella desert which was perfectly creamy and the right amount of sweet. The cocktails were all delicious and strong. The Julietta with vanilla and ginger was a great combo. They also made a special drink for the event with gin, limoncello and thyme which was amazing. We were seated on the patio and waited longer than hoped for our water. Placed our order for food and drinks and again waited a long time for both. My bruschetta with asparagus had a good flavor but my husband's chicken parm was oozing with sauce, was sloppy, and fell apart when he tried to bite into it. Ended up taking most of it home to eat the next day without the soggy bread. Server forgot the side of ranch dressing for hubs fries and also had to flag him down for more water, as that was all I was drinking. The worst part was that I had a e-gift card for $20 that I wanted to use and mentioned this to the server. He said he would have to TAKE MY PHONE to process it!! I handed it to him and them immediately thought man, if this isn't a breach of privacy and security, I don't know what is!! Stupid on my part I admit. He did process the gift card, and who knows what other information he got from my phone!! Lesson learned!! Don't give the server your phone!!! We probably spent twice as much time there as we wanted to and likely won't return any time soon. read more

Once just an ok place, the management brought in the chef from Wildflower to work out the problems and they transformed it into a truly wonderful restaurant where the pasta is made fresh every day as is the sandwich bread. A Tucson favorite! My friend had been raving about this place for a while so we went for dinner the other day. We got an outdoor table by one of their fire pits and it really added to the dining experience. We were a group of 5 and order the calamari, chef's board, and cauliflower for our appetizers. The calamari and chef's board were both exceptional. The cauliflower was okay. For my entree I ordered the cheese tortelloni which is out of this world delicious. Everything on the menu sounds fantastic, but based on what I've heard from friends who are locals - the cheese tortelloni is their best dish. One of my friends ordered the chicken pesto which I tasted and it was also really good. We also ordered the olive oil cake for dessert. It's so yummy! Definitely get it when you go! The service was pretty superb overall, but the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because my friends felt a bit jipped with their cocktail order. I ordered my fave, prosecco, but the 4 of them decided to split a pitcher of the Rosemary lime cocktail. Each cocktail was $10 and the pitcher was $36 so the assumption was that the pitcher would be enough for 4 drinks - turns out it was only enough for 3. It would have been more cost effective to order the drinks individually. They did quickly remedy the issue by bringing out an extra cocktail. Other than that, absolutely no complaints. It's a wonderful restaurant and I especially love the outdoor seating by the fire pit. read more

I've been coming here for a few years and I'm sad to say that their quality has diminished significantly. The food now tends to be bland and the pasta sauces are more watery than they use to be. It tastes like they have made cuts in the quality of ingredients used in their recipes. I have returned to North Italia a handful of times in the past months trying to see if maybe it a fluke or just overly busy, but it has been constantly disappointing. I still like their wine, however that is purchased from a supplier. I know the potential this restaurant is capable of and they have not met that potential for a while now. read more

Cool decor, nice atmosphere. Food was great! I had the scallops one night & the roasted chicken the following night. Pizza was fresh & tasty. Service was a liiiiitle on the slow side - but this may be the fact that I live in NY & I am a server. I just expect things to come at a faster pace. Our dinner was running late and this man (a manager, i think?) offered us a free appetizer. I believe his name was VITO but I could be completely wrong. Good pizza (house-made sausage), ordered crispy with garlic confit (an add-on). Although without the garlic confit which I asked to be added, I think it would have been a little bland. Crispy crust; outstanding sausage, roasted red peppers ... could have done without smoked mozzarella (but I don't like smoked cheese or meats). Haven't been to Sauce, so can't comment on how their pizza stacks up comparatively, price-wise or qualitatively. My husband's "grinder" was actually panini-style (rather than sub-style) -- the server let him know before she placed the order. He liked it -- although there was more bread than meat (sopressata, salami and mortadella), peppers and provolone. Grilled artichoke with lemon aioli to go was okay (although, they could turn the artichokes upside down after par-boiling them for a bit longer to get more of the moisture out ... toward the middle of the artichoke, the upper portion of the leaves had water dripping from them) ... lemon aioli was more like a lemon crema ... I asked them to hold the truffle oil and it would have been nice had they substituted olive oil ... came out dry. I've had much better (including my own, at home). My "ducati" cocktail was cloying (and strong (the latter, not necessarily a bad thing when you're not driving)). My husband enjoyed his Sauvignon Blanc by the glass. Good service. I'd been to the original North and liked it so I was curious about how the new North would stack up. After reading a lot of so-so reviews, my expectations were low. But...it was delicious! The dishes are slightly less creative than they those off the old menu but everything was very tasty and well presented. The service was good and the updated decor makes for a very nice atmosphere. All in all, very good. Will definitely be going back! Try the Italian salad, you won't be disappointed! read more

He happily went back to the kitchen in a couple of questions he couldn't answer, but was overall very knowledgeable. He recommended a white wine made by a relative of the restaurant owner and it was lovely. We started with the octopus. I didn't expect this starter to be cold, but the tender octopus, fingerling potatoes and olives were a great combo in the acidic sauce. Would most certainly order it again. My main was the short rib. Short rib is always a heavy dish, but the vegetable risotto and asparagus helped lighten it a bit and it was tender and delicious. I probably ate 1/3, but I'm not sad to have generous leftovers. My dining companion had the veal, which was also excellent. I finished my meal with the crème caramel, which was very traditional and exactly as expected (which is what I want in a dessert like that). I'm very happy to dine here more often than every ten years.

The quesabirria tacos were absolutely outstanding--honestly the best birria tacos I've had so far. My husband and daughter both agreed. They were perfectly crisp without being greasy and packed with incredible flavor. My husband's favorite was the carne asada tacos. He commented on the wonderful charcoal-grilled flavor of the meat and enjoyed them so much that he ordered six more to take home. I had the al pastor taco, which was topped with pineapple and was light, refreshing, and beautifully balanced. The marinade complemented the pork without overpowering it. For our entrées, my daughter had the barbecue chicken and shredded beef quesadilla, which she really enjoyed. I ordered the birria enchiladas and couldn't decide between the restaurant's famous house-made mole and the green sauce, so I asked for half and half. That turned out to be the perfect choice. The mole was phenomenal--rich, complex, and incredibly well-balanced. Every plate that came to our table was beautifully presented. One thing that really stood out throughout the meal was the seasoning. Nothing was over-salted, over-seasoned, or under-seasoned. Everything tasted natural, fresh, and exactly as it should. The food was satisfying without feeling heavy afterward, which is something I really appreciate. Our daughter loved the horchata so much she ended up drinking three glasses! I enjoyed the house margarita, which had an excellent balance of flavors. My husband had a Colima beer that he described as having a nice balance somewhere between a Hefeweizen and an IPA, but without the bitterness. For dessert, we shared the cheesecake and the flan. I believe the cheesecake is house-made, and it was excellent. The flan, however, was the star for me. It was easily the best flan I've ever had--silky, perfectly textured, and not overly sweet or overly vanilla. It was simply right on the money. The service was exceptional from beginning to end. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and genuinely hospitable. We never had to ask for drink refills or anything else because she was always one step ahead. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, with around nine indoor tables, but it's charming and beautifully decorated. There is additional outdoor seating with misters, which is a nice touch during Tucson's warmer months. I noticed several walk-in guests waiting for tables, but because we had made reservations, we were seated immediately at our reserved time. I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan to visit. Overall, our entire family left happy. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, naturally flavored, and beautifully seasoned. The food, drinks, desserts, service, and atmosphere all came together for a wonderful dining experience. Amelia's Mexican Kitchen absolutely earned five stars from us, and we're already looking forward to coming back with more family members!

Great ambiance, however our experience there was not the best. I was so excited to try this place for the first time. I've seen pictures of the chicken parm and the chefs board that look heavenly, and have heard great reviews. My five friends and I sat outside by the beautifully lit fire place. It was secluded and peaceful from the noisy inside. I don't know how to say this without sounding rude, but our waitress was terrible. She was very rude and we felt like she just did not want to be there or she just did not care about our needs. She rolled her eyes a few times and we felt like we were bothering her whenever we asked for something. She was the type of waitress that makes you question if someone might spit in your food. We ordered 3 prosciutto bruschettas, 2 Caesar salads, a chefs board, and 5 chicken parmesans. However, we did not get our chefs board by the time we had waited for appetizers (20 mins), eaten out appetizers (10 mins), and our chicken Parmesan came so we just canceled the chef's board, which was unfortunate. Especially because we watched about 5 other tables receive chef boards. The salad did not have enough dressing it tasted like I was eating a plate of parmesan cheese. The bread on the bruschetta was a bit dry, but the prosciutto was amazing. This makes me a little extra bitter for not getting to try the chef's board. The piece of chicken Parmesan was yummy and hot, but it did not have enough sauce, however, all of our pastas were cold. I would say the meal was very mediocre and disappointing. Only when the waitress brought the checks did she finally decide to put a smile on and actually ask us how our day and meal was. I am truly disappointed in my North experience. I may give it another try for the chef's board and short rib, but I better have a different waitress. She made the experience very uncomfortable, and maybe she was just having a bad day but at least pretend like we aren't a nuisance for the sake of representing North. read more

North Italia in Tucson is hands down the absolute best Italian restaurant in the entire city--and easily my top favorite! If I could give this place infinity stars, I would do it in a heartbeat. Honestly, we will happily make the 40-minute drive every single time we're craving Italian food (though we're secretly praying you open a location in Sahuarita one day!). From the second you walk in, the atmosphere is top-notch. The restaurant is impeccably clean, and the tiny vase with real fresh flowers on the table is such a pretty, thoughtful touch that instantly sets the mood. What truly made our experience out of this world, though, was our server, Angel. In a time where service at most other restaurants feels rushed, lazy, or plain rude, Angel proved that outstanding, genuine hospitality still exists. He is a tall guy with glasses and a small tattoo behind his ear, and he deserves a massive raise for how incredible he is at his job! Angel was warm, kind, and so welcoming from start to finish. He kept our drinks completely full, constantly checked in to make sure everything was to our liking (which, OF COURSE, it was!), and made sure our order was 100% flawless. When we had questions about menu items we weren't familiar with, he broke down the ingredients with detailed, mouthwatering descriptions and gave us fantastic recommendations. The food here is always ridiculously delicious, and I love trying something new every single time I visit. If you need adjustments to your orders for health reasons. They will do what you want and make sure it's exactly what is needed. We will definitely keep recommending people to come to this restaurant. Worst Dining Experience of My Life I can confidently say this was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. We waited an outrageous hour and 45 minutes for food that never came. During this time, we had to repeatedly ask for updates, only to be met with vague excuses and no solutions. Even the manager was incapable of explaining what was going on or providing any assistance. The one appetizer we did receive? It came without plates. The staff seemed completely disorganized and overwhelmed, with other tables getting their food while we sat there, starving and ignored. This was supposed to be a special occasion--my mom's 50th birthday. Instead, we left with nothing but stomach pain from waiting so long and frustration from the lack of basic service. The cacio e Pepe arancini were delightful, especially when paired with marinara sauce. The special smoked prosciutto frittatine surpassed any appetizer I've ever tasted. And the fried bucatini with cheese and spek was a culinary delight. The meatballs were flavorful, and the calamari had a perfectly crispy tempura batter. The hot honey prosciutto pizza was a standout, and the house special bolognese was just as delicious as I remembered. The bombolini were exceptional, with a light and fluffy dough filled with vanilla budino (curd) and served with strawberry coulis on the side. Wow! Just wow! I was blown away as a new guest to North. I was invited to North for a baby shower yesterday in the private room. First off, the place is gorgeous and has a cozy feel to it. Everyone from the staff is beyond amazing, courteous and was there when you needed them. Vito, Emilio and Kiyomi hands down are a 5 star team. I want to talk about the fooood!!!!! My favorite was the breakfast pizza and French toast. We had about 15 different menu items on our table, and not one disappointed. What a fantastic day. I have had brunch, lunch, and dinner at North. I always order Chicken Parm without any sauce on it, and for some reason it always comes out with sauce on it and I have to send it back. I have gone there for dinner over 10 times, and maybe only 1-2 it was done right the first time. They are always willing to correct it, and the food is always great. The drink selection is rather large and I've never had a bad drink there. The service is usually good, and the free bread is always on point. read more

not that impressed. the atmosphere is very cool, but very expensive! $10 for one cocktail! really? my husbands pizza was tasty, but ive had better and my pasta was overcooked and broken. even though there were about 30 servers walking around, i was "taken care of" by 4 different servers! i dont even know who received my tip! this is a fun place for drinks, but i was not impressed with the food, definitely have had better elsewhere. make sure you save up for this place too. read more

We dined at North Italia recently. It was amazing and the Spicy Vodka pasta was my favorite. We had Julian as our server and he did an excellent job. He made us feel welcome and also explained pretty much every course they had to offer. Cocktails were great. Atmosphere was a little loud but what can you expect in such a big restaurant!
