I love this place. It's one of the best fast-casual Mediterranean restaurants anywhere in SF (and there's a lot of them). Their lavash wraps are amazing, and I crave them frequently. I've had the Falafel, Beef Shawarma, Chicken Shawarma, and Beef & Lamb Gyro. All of them are SUPER flavorful with large, filling portion sizes. The meat is always perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the falafel is always is perfectly crispy on the outside while warm and soft on the inside. Seriously, just get a wrap. A big bonus is that if you choose the spicy option, their hot sauce is amazing! My boyfriend and I have started asking for extra hot sauce on the side because we love it so much. Oasis is one of the great equalizer a between the rich and poor, hungry and not so hungry. It is an OASIS for everyone (haha bad joke). Oasis is SO good that I just dove into my meal.. no picture, no drink, no napkin and I destroyed my Kefta Kabob Plate (includes 2 sides) plus 3 FRESH falafel in less than 10 minutes. Menu: I've visited Oasis over a dozen times and I've never been disappointed. The plates and wraps are superb. They offer beef schwarma, chicken schwarma, falafel, kefta kabob and gyro. They also offer a decent number of sides. The Cucumber Salad and Hummus are my favorites. Service: The head counter server (maybe the owner?) has an impeccable memory. This guy is good. He remembers the regulars AND remembers every single order without messing up! I'm not even sure how he does it! Above all, he and the rest of the staff are a little fiery yet friendly. Location: Across from the Embarcadero Center / Hyatt and on the one sketch street in FiDi (sketch = lots of bums but still safe) and near the Embarcadero BART and the California Street Cable Car, Oasis is a big time hole in the wall filled with people out the door. This place gets crazy busy during lunch but don't worry, it goes by fast. The plates take a little longer. The wraps are pretty fast. Order what you want and say "spicy" or "not spicy" and then go to the register to pay. Pick up your order and enjoy your life changing experience. This is a VERY good 4 star, almost 5 star. The chicken is juicy and there are so many flavors going on. SO many sauces in there. Ask for spicy!! (: The portion size is huge too...you get so full... Seems like the go to place for many folks who work in the area during lunch hours. Lines exist here and the wait can be between 10-15 minutes on a crowded day. Call in, would be my suggestion. They do have lunch specials that go for about 8 bucks, usually a gyro or a wrap of sorts. I wanted a platter type of food cause I just didn't want to have greasy fingers on this day. It's my secret pet peeve, shhhhhh. Unfortunately ( just my luck ) they handed me the food in a to go box that was greasy all over. Darn it. Now I had to eat my lunch without touching my phone at all because I don't like grease on my phone. First world problems man. The food was pretty okay I'd say. I want to keep it real, so I'm just going to acknowledge that I don't think my beef platter was worth 15 bucks. You get the beef over rice with two choices of different salads. All fits in a box. So here's how it works. If you go to Oasis Grill anytime near the lunch hour, there's going to be a line going out the door. Get in line, you'll quickly make it to the front when someone behind the counter will yell "next." That means it's your turn. That also means you need to figure out who of the 3 or 4 people behind the counter yelled "next," and then push your way through the crowd to get to them. No questions, just yell out your order (which you've hopefully decided beforehand) and they'll ask "Spicy?" The answer you give won't matter because it'll come somewhat spicy anyway. But once you answer you will get a quick nod, and then "Next!" I guess you make your way to the counter to pay, but this is never really explained. Then you wait for your food. You won't be given a number or receipt or anything, but at some point, one of the people from behind the counter (not necessarily the person you ordered from) will yell in your direction and give you a giant wrap. That's it. Then you just scurry away and hope to find a seat elsewhere to eat. So is it worth it? If you're not into super hectic situations, maybe not (or maybe just wait for off-hours). If you're ok with it, then it's a bit pricey, but otherwise really tasty. So four stars for the food, but minus one for the added angst. read more

The service is great the owner is so nice and the food is delicious. They l have been in business for over 20 years and I hope that they continue to stay in business when this is all over! Ended up STARVED in the Financial District, all restaurants closed down, it is Sunday afterall and a ghost town once Friday afternoon hits. But alas, I see a place open. Can it be? As stated by other reviews, you can always expect a long line during lunch. The place doesn't look like much from the outside. This place has a tiny store front and resembles a Mediterranean subway counter, with fountain drinks and chip rack. I have eaten here so many times over the years and not a single time was I disappointed with their fare. It's mostly been the chicken shawarmas that I had concentrated on, for good reason, as the seared chicken is delicious, as is the white garlic sauce and the red spicy sauce. I usually ask to go easy on the chicken and load up on the greens to get a somewhat healthier (in my mind) meal. I love the special wraps where you can add the thick-cut fries and fried eggplants. The falafels too are delicious --- steaming hot on the inside, and crunchy on the outside. And that guy who takes your order remembers everything. He can pick you out from a crowd of twenty and go something like "here's your wrap with extra spicy sauce, no white sauce, with an addition of fries ... no sir not you, your wrap with extra lamb and extra spicy is coming up next." A great place to grab some delicious and flavorful Greek/Mediterranean food. Have to admit that the pricing is a bit much, considering how simple the items on the menu are. In my opinion, the price may be high due to the location, but I guess the price gets canceled due to the great taste and friendly service being provided. I will say that right now there might be a wait depending on what you order, which is OKAY considering how no one wants to eat raw chicken. Overall, my suggestion is to eat your food right away when it is hot! Nothing beats eating your food fresh, unless it is pizza cause a day old pizza never tasted so good after a hangover, haha. Oh my gosh, this place is a must try for those who haven't yet! It's a sign when there is a long line outside the restaurant (even though the restaurant is super tiny with no tables to sit at except for the very edges of the restaurant). Prior this visit, I had spoken to the owner, or at least I thought so because he had offered me a free meal to just try the place out but I ended up paying because I felt guilty to not pay for someone's service that they make a living off of. I decided to try this place out when I had taken a later lunch thinking that there wouldn't be a line/wait...but low and behold there still was. I ordered the beef Mediterranean melt. It took about 10 minutes to get our food, a little long but understandable when lines are out the door haha. I took the foil off and it looked delicious. On the menu it had said that there was a spicy sauce in it, and I wanted it to be a little spicier but boy was this wrap really juicy! It was squirting out after every other bite that I took! The meat was a tad bit over cooked but can be overlooked because the flavors and the crisp texture of the lettuce and other veggies were just that good! I practically almost finished the whole thing and I'd say is a decent portion. Because they used fresh ingredients, it didn't make me feel like I was eating a super heavy meal, which is good because who wants to go back to work feeling like they need a nap? Spicy falafel wrap always hits the spot. This place is great if you want something quick (it pretty much has to be quick because you can't sit down inside), cheap, a little on the healthier side, and filling. This is a nice break from the all too common bland foods in the FiDi. They have plates as well, but again - spicy falafel wrap is what I'm here for. Everything is already put together in the wrap and you get a little taste of everything in each bite (or maybe I'm just lazy. This isn't about that tho). Every time I've come here I've witnessed them frying the falafels to order which is a HUGE plus. Nothing worse than a cold, dry falafel. Also they toast the lavash wrap right before wrapping it in foil. I would say go early, or late lunch. The line here gets real pretty quick. I found out about this particular Oasis Grill several months ago, in dire need of sustenance after the cleaners decided to throw out the lunch I had saved in our communal work fridge. And while there's an entire menu to be had and eaten, I'm pretty much always in the mood for falafel when I come here, so 90% of my visits have resulted in orders of their falafel lavash wrap, spicy, of course. The ordering counter is pretty high, but clear, so line of sight from them to you isn't a problem, and the payment counter is normal counter height, so no worries there either. We've had Oasis Grill wrap platters catered at work a number of times. It works well for catering, since they are located nearby and the platters are filled with a variety of half wraps. I've tried the falafel wrap, chicken shawarma, and beef'n lamb gyro. All of them come with the main item wrapped in lavash bread along with veggies. Fortunately each half wrap is very filling, but unfortunately each is flawed in in the taste department in different ways. The falafel itself isn't very flavorful, so I usually skip it. The shawarma is better, but a bit too much sauce covering the chopped chicken. The gyro meat is very flavorful but severely lacking in quantity and hidden in way too much cucumber salad. The wraps are good, but not awesome. Basically, I'll eat it when catered at work, but I wouldn't go on my own. read more

They have a decent amount of tables and stools by the window should you choose to dine in. The staff is very friendly and patient. They offer various kinds of Mediterranean meals ranging from wraps and plates, including kefta kebabs, beef and lamb gyros, shawarmas, falafels, beef skewers, fattoush salads, baklavas, and much more. If all that sounds foreign to you, trust me, they all taste amazing. I usually get the lamb shawarma, which contains seasoned sliced lamb, hummus, sumac, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, tahini, and wrapped in a lavash. Mediterranean never tasted so good. Dragged myself onto the cold streets at 8pm on Tuesday and walked a few blocks for some quick dinner. I was ecstatic to find a Mediterranean place still open in the later hours of the night. This Oasis Grill location is definitely a grab and go type of deal. You order from any available cook at the counter and pay at the register. There were a good number of others also waiting in the little hole-in-the-wall space that was Oasis Grill, but service was quick and efficient. The person who took your order will be the one to deliver it piping hot and into your hands without so much as making a note of who had what. It was impressive, to say the least. As for the food, I had the Chicken Shawarma. Compared to others that I have eaten, Oasis Grill took the cake. I've had shawarma on pita, but I think the lavash wrap style they had here was better in terms of easier handling. Lavash contains all the goodness inside, and the initial first bite reveals a carefully administered preparation of ingredients rather than half-haphazardly sprinkled bits and pieces. Everything is wrapped up first, and the whole thing tossed on the grill for some nice char marks. If you are looking for some quick eats, come to Oasis Grill. My friend brought us here because we had just hit SF and we were fiending for a meal. It wasn't too late, probably close to 9, but already this area was beginning to turn in for the night. The worker recommended the chicken shawarma - a wrap with sliced rotisserie chicken, marinated with their house garlic sauce, tomato, and lettuce. I wasn't sure what to expect, but that wrap had me at hello. I found myself devouring it, and I was very pleased. The price wasn't too expensive, and it was definitely worth it. The chicken got slightly dry at one point, but that may have been because it was near closing time and the meat(though they re-heated it) may have been sitting there for some time. This place is just a hole in the wall, so your best bet is probably to walk here. They have a bathroom that's probably just for employees, but they were nice enough to let me use it. If you're nearby here or pass by anytime, definitely give it a shot. read more

Back when I was a city girl, I would pick up lunch from Oasis Grill when I knew I could coast thru the rest of the work day with a food coma. My staple was the spicy chicken schwarma. The owner? manager? guy behind the counter making the schwarmas is a freaking machine. I'd call him the schwarma nazi - but he was actually very pleasant. A line going out the door waiting to order ... and a longer line going out the door waiting to get their food - that guy knew exactly what you ordered and the order in which to distribute. I can't describe it ... visit this place just to see him in action! Word of advice ... if you get any of the wraps, be sure to hold it upside down for as long as you can before opening and eating. Otherwise, all the sauce will drip to the bottom and you'll have a soggy mess at the bottom ... and dry meat up on top. read more

At 8 bucks a pop the Chicken Mediterranean Melt and the Chicken Schwarma were filling but lacked the umpf of a satisfying meal wrapped like a burrito. Usually I love all things tucked neatly into a tortilla or lavash, but I was disappointed this afternoon when I bit into dry and pretty much flavorless slices of chicken. Really good food but I agree with most yelpers that price is a bit high. I think it's because of the location though. Friendly service. Expect a wait if you order a plate. The guy working recommended a chicken plate so that's what I got. It took a while for the chicken to cook, but I'd rather wait then find out later that my chicken is undercooked. The plate ($15) came with 2 sides (some Mediterranean salad, humus or tzatziki sauce with cucumber bits), and some rice. the guy gave me all 3 to try. Don't forget to grab your utensils before you leave, it's next to the cashier. Everything was still hot when I got back to my hotel a few blocks down. My sister and I shared everything and it was really good. Chicken was soft, not burnt, and went well with the spicy sauce he gave me and the hummus and tzatziki sauce. During lunch i usually wonder around the fidi and noticed the long long lines here, my co workers loved this place too Finally decided to stop by thanks to GoPago yesterday, Thursday, 8/9. Of course the lines were out the door long, a little past noon. It's very small inside & not much room to move around. Since it was my first time here & using the GoPago app, i was very much confused on how the process works. we finally approached the order counter & the guy ended up sending up to the register to wait for our order to be called out. after some time waiting my friend received her food. Then finally i got my mixed grill plate (chicken, steak & lamb). If you know me, i am a very picky eater... If i think about what i am eating, there is no way to get me past it. So as i am playing tricks with my mind, i started to eat the lamb... very tender and delicious. The hot sauce, rice, the cucumber yogurt as 1 of my sides was delicious as well & Greek salad just made my meal that much better! The meal altogher was about $19.63 Very much well worth it. You can choose from a few different salad options and sauces to add to your shawerma. Tahini with the beef shawerma and garlic paste with the chicken shawerma. You can also choose whether you want it spicy or not. Eating it can get very messy but sometimes the messier the food the better it is.
