We live in the area and decided to walk over to Ocean Cafe this morning. We were so pleasantly surprised! The beach vibe and music makes for a laid back, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our bagel sandwiches were yummy and they have tons of protein shakes and even bullet proof coffee! I am always looking for places that do macadamia nut lattes and theirs did not disappoint! The staff member who took our order had a bit of a hard time understanding us, but that was the only slight hiccup we had at the cafe.

I ordered the Immune System and it came out brown. Normally beet juices come out more red. They said it was because of their recipe but it just tasted like blended ice with a splash of beets, spinach and a little bit of ginger. I would not recommend.

My favorite Vietnamese iced coffee spot. The Brazilian cheese bread is amazing here and gluten free.

Ordered a bagel breakfast sandwich online and it took 30 minutes to make -- for what turned out to be the driest bagel I've ever had. The bacon was soggy, and the whole thing was just disappointing. I don't understand the hype. Definitely not worth the wait.

Visiting from Vegas, walked here from my Airbnb with my cute Labrador. Got the original Acai bowl + added peanut butter to go. Was very delicious with incredibly fresh ingredients. Highly recommend!

Perfect little breakfast cafe that we were lucky to have close to where we stayed! I was surprisingly impressed with the prices, the food was delicious, I got Tuna salad on croissant, I loved the coffee and overall it was a nice experience. I prefer small cafes over popular by the beach places and this one was a hit for me personally. Recommend

Acai bowl is top-tier! The staff was super friendly and the bowl was made to order. Their bowls have won a ton of awards (I can see why) and they have pre-made options in addition to "build your own" customizable ordering. I came in early on a Tuesday, so the cafe was pretty quiet and not crowded at all. I needed a place to work for a bit while waiting for my car to finish at the shop, and when I arrived I was a bit worried that Ocean Cafe wasn't the type of place that welcomes remote workers to hang around too long with their laptops. But, I found out later that they do offer free wi-fi for paying guests, you just need to ask for the password at the counter. The seating area is nice but kind of small, I probably wouldn't stay more than an hour or two, but it's definitely nice for a quick meal!

I see you! Not bragging about yourself and having a down low presence of location and signage out front. But the word is out! And I found about you so you know imma blab about you. I'm staying in PB and feeling cafe, sweet and tasty needs must be taken care of. The suggestion is thrown down, the Yelp research is done and off we go. Before and after I go there, multiple people say "I've never been there, but I order from the place all the time" That's because it's where the good stuff comes from. Parking is ample and it's a cozy spot if you just want to hang. They have breaky and lunch covered with savory and sweet. That Nutella croissant is a party in your mouth for sure. The vibe is super chill as well. Order delivery all you want. I'll still be going out on lookout securing the culinary perimeter.

I did a quick morning door dash for breakfast before work today on a spot my friend had been telling me about and was very glad I did! I got the Californian croissant sandwich and an iced vanilla latte! Both were tasty and exactly what I was looking for to get my day started. I'm going to check out the cafe in person the next time.

This place is great! They have a lot of protein shake and smoothie options, all with plant based ingredients. Also, the açaí isn't the sugary stuff--it's the real deal from Brazil! The service was excellent and quick and the food is of great quality. Prices are also very reasonable. read more

Great little cafe, I ordered a cookies and cream protein shake and really enjoyed it. The cafe totally has a beachy/hipster vibe which was cool. They have a couch and nice comfy chairs and tables to sit at too. Staff was great, helped me with my order and were very friendly. It's a bit pricy however, I find it to be worth the cost I order to support a small business. Thanks! read more

I have tried Açaí in many many places in San Diego and all I can say is that Ocean Cafe has the Best Açaí by far (I am from Brazil so I know what is real açai and what is not) other places add weird stuff in the bowl and that is not authentic açaí! This is my place from now on. I would give it 10 stars. I highly recommend it. read more

I have been meaning to check out this hidden gem for a while and was not disappointed. I originally went in for a coffee or smoothie and found out they have gluten free bagels and bread for their sandwiches. I got the breakfast Sandwich and it made my day :) the gluten free bagel was fresh, light and airy. The workers are very sweet and the shop is cute. Cool new spot in PB. Very bright and clean with good tunes. Unfortunately I could not find a menu/prices online but took the risk because of all the postive reviews. 7.25 Acai bowl was average. A bit too small, acai was frozen, and sadly did not include coconut shavings. Also had a veggie juice for around $6 and it was terrible. Literally tasted like colored water. Anyway, its average at best so I only reccomend going if its convenient. read more

Absolutely amazing! The açaí bowls had the authentic flavor like the ones from Brazil with fresh fruit and granola. The balance of flavor was just right, and not overly sweet. We also got a sandwich which was better than expected for a cafe. Smelled spectacular and tasted even better! And best of all was the service from the owner - he really cared about the quality of service! read more

Poor customer service and over-priced coffee. I stopped coming here for coffee but figured id try a smoothie, called ahead at 3pm on a Wednesday and the girl who answered was hesitant to take my order and rude and said it would take at-least 15 mins.. read more

They are OPEN idk until what time but its a Thursday evening 6:30pm and we got our smoothies. I had the OG and it was soooo good strawberry and banana smoothie. If you have not stopped by this new cafe yet, you must check it out. It's a new spot in between Grand and Garnett in PB. The owners are awesome! They make you feel right at home. The protein shakes are the best I've ever had (highly recommend the blueberry muffin, PB & J, and Carmel latte), and they also have the greatest REAL Acai I've ever tried. And try the bullet proof coffee, its outstanding. I could go on and on.... So check this place out. You won't be disappointed! read more

Lovely little cafe with a great ambience / cute and comfy decor. My car was next door at the auto shop the whole day and I was stranded, and the guy at the cafe allowed me to work here all day on my laptop over juice and tea, and was such a sweetheart. During that time, I watched multiple people walk in, place orders after I had already checked in, and receive their food before me. The crazy part? It wasn't even busy. There was no line out the door, no rush, no obvious reason for such a ridiculous delay. After waiting long enough, I finally went up to an older gentleman working there (I'm assuming the owner) and politely explained that I had been waiting a very long time and was confused why people ordering after me were getting their food first. Instead of apologizing or even acknowledging the mistake, he was rude, dismissive, and acted like I was inconveniencing him for asking about an order that should have been ready ages ago. Then, after another 10 minutes, my bowls were finally ready. In total, I waited about 35 minutes after checking in for pickup. To top it all off, the older gentleman practically shoved the bowls at me without so much as a "sorry for the wait." Look, delays happen. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was the complete lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service. If you're running behind, just be honest about it. Don't tell someone 10 minutes when it's really going to be over half an hour. The açaí is good, but not nearly good enough to make up for being treated like an annoyance. There are plenty of other places in San Diego serving great bowls without the attitude.

I'm just extremely disappointed with how poor my experience was today because I had only super positive experiences previously and was looking forward to dining there this morning after sometime away, but holy hell ....today's experience has been so profoundly bad. Firstly, my husband ordered two breakfast burritos - one with bacon and the other with bacon on the side. I'll chalk this one up to miscommunication, but they put bacon in one, and bacon in the other too - and then added bacon on the side to the other and charged us $5.50 for the extra bacon. Again, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here and will be sure to communicate explicitly next time. They kindly made me a new one, but the new one had potatoes that weren't cooked thoroughly (likely to rush the food to me, so I acknowledge the difficulty here), however there was hardly any avocado. I literally had to complain again because I didn't believe there was any avocado at all. I wouldn't be as pissed if this weren't an EIGHTEEN DOLLAR breakfast burrito. Lastly, the coffee lids don't fit on the cups. We tried to put one on and ended up spilling the entire coffee. I chalked this up to an accident on our part, however another patron who observed our incident said "their lids don't fit the cup, right??" And I was like "oh so it wasn't just us??" And she was like "no, I almost spilled mine all over too." This random patron encouraged us to ask for a new cup of coffee as a result (thanks, random patron!). The Molly's team did kindly make us a new (albeit quite bitter) drink, which I appreciate. However, the lid was still an issue - it would spill out of the cup all over the rim between the cup and the lid when I'd try to take a sip, so I took off the lid entirely, but then was stuck with dealing with spills while walking around - I had to move at a snail's pace to prevent spills altogether. This was easier to deal with random leakage around the entire cup every time I'd sip with the lid on. Ultimately It was just a lose-lose with the ill fitting lid situation. All this to say - Molly's Team, yall were fantastic just a month ago. What happened? I understand food and services in the beach area stuff are often expensive and rarely good, but you guys are *too* expensive for this poor of service and quality. Two stars because at least the folks there are generally nice.

I didn't think my rib eye was bad, but it wasn't overly amazing either. The NY strip was awesome and wish I had ordered that instead. The sea bass was also cooked to perfection. Sadly, seems like my main dish was the only one that was off. For the side dishes, I do highly recommend the potato puree. The roasted mushroom is again, overly salted. For dessert, we ordered coffee and a tiramisu cheesecake. Amazing amazing cheesecake and excellent coffee. When I asked where the coffee was from, the server actually gave us a free bag of coffee beans since they actually don't sell the coffee at the roaster, so I really appreciated this gesture. Overall, I think the quality of the food here is somewhat inconsistent. Some dishes we had were great and others were off. But the excellent service here (and the fact they gave us free bag of coffee) warrants an extra star, which is why I'm giving this place a 4/5. Would I come back to this place again though? Probably not given how expensive the food is and the inconsistently quality, but it was nice that I gave this place a try in San Diego.

They also offered us all free orange juice. However, if they knew they were having issues with the kitchen then they should've told us earlier before we got seated so people could go elsewhere rather than waiting an hour for their food. Overall, service here was very poor. In terms of food, it was unfortunately pretty good but not worth the wait. I really liked the simple toast with matcha cream on top as well as the curry hamburg. My friend ordered the shakshuka (not pictured because it came last and everyone just wanted to eat at that point) which was also pretty good. For the avocado toast, the toast was too hard so I wouldn't recommend it. We also ordered a yuzu and matcha yuzu mimosa. Both tasted like yuzu. The matcha yuzu one was basically a green yuzu mimosa. They have a vero water purification system so their water was really good lol.

Ocean Cafe instantly became my favorite cafe on my first visit a few months ago. Cool modern interior, convenient location, and everything is DELICIOUS! "Real Brazilian Acai" isn't just a sign... it's how they do it! Simply the BEST acai bowls in San Diego and the best I've tried anywhere in the states.
