We live in the area and decided to walk over to Ocean Cafe this morning. We were so pleasantly surprised! The beach vibe and music makes for a laid back, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our bagel sandwiches were yummy and they have tons of protein shakes and even bullet proof coffee! I am always looking for places that do macadamia nut lattes and theirs did not disappoint! The staff member who took our order had a bit of a hard time understanding us, but that was the only slight hiccup we had at the cafe.

I ordered the Immune System and it came out brown. Normally beet juices come out more red. They said it was because of their recipe but it just tasted like blended ice with a splash of beets, spinach and a little bit of ginger. I would not recommend.

My favorite Vietnamese iced coffee spot. The Brazilian cheese bread is amazing here and gluten free.

Ordered a bagel breakfast sandwich online and it took 30 minutes to make -- for what turned out to be the driest bagel I've ever had. The bacon was soggy, and the whole thing was just disappointing. I don't understand the hype. Definitely not worth the wait.

Visiting from Vegas, walked here from my Airbnb with my cute Labrador. Got the original Acai bowl + added peanut butter to go. Was very delicious with incredibly fresh ingredients. Highly recommend!

Perfect little breakfast cafe that we were lucky to have close to where we stayed! I was surprisingly impressed with the prices, the food was delicious, I got Tuna salad on croissant, I loved the coffee and overall it was a nice experience. Acai bowl is top-tier! The staff was super friendly and the bowl was made to order. Their bowls have won a ton of awards (I can see why) and they have pre-made options in addition to "build your own" customizable ordering. I came in early on a Tuesday, so the cafe was pretty quiet and not crowded at all. I needed a place to work for a bit while waiting for my car to finish at the shop, and when I arrived I was a bit worried that Ocean Cafe wasn't the type of place that welcomes remote workers to hang around too long with their laptops. But, I found out later that they do offer free wi-fi for paying guests, you just need to ask for the password at the counter. The seating area is nice but kind of small, I probably wouldn't stay more than an hour or two, but it's definitely nice for a quick meal!

I see you! Not bragging about yourself and having a down low presence of location and signage out front. But the word is out! And I found about you so you know imma blab about you. I'm staying in PB and feeling cafe, sweet and tasty needs must be taken care of. The suggestion is thrown down, the Yelp research is done and off we go. Before and after I go there, multiple people say "I've never been there, but I order from the place all the time" That's because it's where the good stuff comes from. Parking is ample and it's a cozy spot if you just want to hang. They have breaky and lunch covered with savory and sweet. That Nutella croissant is a party in your mouth for sure. The vibe is super chill as well. Order delivery all you want. I'll still be going out on lookout securing the culinary perimeter.

I did a quick morning door dash for breakfast before work today on a spot my friend had been telling me about and was very glad I did! I got the Californian croissant sandwich and an iced vanilla latte! Both were tasty and exactly what I was looking for to get my day started. I'm going to check out the cafe in person the next time.

First stop when staying at an Airbnb in area. Great coffee and fantastic acai bowls. I wish my town had an Ocean Cafe because I would go at least 3 times a week. :) Highly recommend for a healthy, refreshing breakfast. read more

This is an amazing little cafe with a charming ambiance. It's almost like stepping into a spa - don't let the outside strip mall area deceive you. The gentlemen who run it are friendly and helpful (I didn't get their names but I will). This was my first time going and I had the Hawaiian Bowl and the Bulletproof coffee. This was my first time trying an Açaí bowl - absolutely delicious! Everything was so fresh!! My friend and I were given complimentary cheese bread native to Brazil and it was piping hot and absolutely addicting! Since I now live in the area, I will continue to frequent this delightful cafe and will be rewarded since they also have a little punch card for return visits. Last but not least, they had some awesome jewelry on display and I bought a great pair of earrings too! Lovely experience. I'll be back! Thanks guys! read more

Amazing!! So delicious. You could taste how fresh the ingredients were. I added PB and matcha to the original bowl and it was . While I was choking down on my açaí bowl my latte got cold. So I just asked them if they could nuke it in the microwave.....well they went above and beyond and just made me a new one! So sweet! I wish I lived in San Diego because I'd be there all the time! read more

Super delicious and fresh Açaí bowls! Freshly made when you order, we literally paid and then he went to the back and started cutting up the fresh fruit and blending the Açaí for each bowl - like we would have done at home - not pre-cut fruit and frozen Açaí that you get at some places. Also a really clean restaurant, smells nice, and friendly staff. While my wife and I don't care for PB all that much, it's a great place to pick up a quick bowl of Açaí if you're in the neighborhood! read more

This little cafe is a tucked away treasure. The inside is small but inviting and very cute! Their drink selections are very diverse and very healthy. I was talking to the owner and she was even telling me how their açaí bowls use pretty much pure açaí unlike other places that only use a small amount or the prepackaged frozen açaí. The owner is very sweet and creates a very friendly atmosphere! I personally had their Vietnamese coffee which was made strong and had good quality taste. read more

I came to Ocean Cafe because I read good reviews and was excited to try it. Unfortunately, the woman working was extremely rude and condescending. First, we asked if they had wifi because we were hoping to get some work done in the outdoor patio area. Then, we ordered our drinks and she told us we could only stay for 30 minutes due to "covid," with no other reasoning than that. Mind you that we were the only ones there and there were 5 empty tables, and she told us on the phone there was only 1 table - 3 minutes prior. I would understand this rule if the place was packed but when you have an abundance of seating, it is just disrespectful. I think this place needs some new staff ASAP because I will not be spending my money here anytime soon!! read more

I got the boost energy green juice. It was so watered down that it taste like water. They are close to my house and had good reviews which is why i decided to try them out. Thank God the little drive thru coffee shop was closed next door because we never would have found this gem! I ordered before a group of 5 people and they all got their orders before I did. In total I waited 35 minutes for a juice and a cold brew and was very late to work in the morning. I do understand that she was slammed with a huge catering order before I got there, but even after she was done with her catering order, it seems as though she has forgotten mine. Everything was fine until I asked about my order. She got incredibly agitated and said she's working as fast as she can and went to the back and said "My God!", loud enough for me to hear. I thought she was being very unprofessional, and did not need to handle me asking about my order with such attitude. She did try and give me a bigger size for my juice but message was already delivered loud and clear. read more

Great little spot for having an authentic bowl of Acai. I come in for the Protein Shakes regularly, they have punch cards! Location is nice and there is parking. Casual setting perfect for having a cup of coffee and getting some work done on the computer. read more

Seemed like a good place but walked over at 830 on a Sunday and was told that the opener just got there and she'd be opening at 9 instead. Possible that the Yelp hours are wrong (shows open at 8am) but pretty frustrating to show up and be turned away. read more

This place is great! I was having some work done on my car. So, I needed to find a café where I could work from my laptop while I waited. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They recommended a very nice herbal iced tea - it was so good, I bought another! It's a cute place in an otherwise pretty bleak looking part of PB. Would highly recommend and will return next time I'm in PB. read more

During that time, I watched multiple people walk in, place orders after I had already checked in, and receive their food before me. The crazy part? It wasn't even busy. There was no line out the door, no rush, no obvious reason for such a ridiculous delay. After waiting long enough, I finally went up to an older gentleman working there (I'm assuming the owner) and politely explained that I had been waiting a very long time and was confused why people ordering after me were getting their food first. Instead of apologizing or even acknowledging the mistake, he was rude, dismissive, and acted like I was inconveniencing him for asking about an order that should have been ready ages ago. Then, after another 10 minutes, my bowls were finally ready. In total, I waited about 35 minutes after checking in for pickup. To top it all off, the older gentleman practically shoved the bowls at me without so much as a "sorry for the wait." Look, delays happen. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was the complete lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service. If you're running behind, just be honest about it. Don't tell someone 10 minutes when it's really going to be over half an hour. The açaí is good, but not nearly good enough to make up for being treated like an annoyance. There are plenty of other places in San Diego serving great bowls without the attitude.

I'll chalk this one up to miscommunication, but they put bacon in one, and bacon in the other too - and then added bacon on the side to the other and charged us $5.50 for the extra bacon. They kindly made me a new one, but the new one had potatoes that weren't cooked thoroughly (likely to rush the food to me, so I acknowledge the difficulty here), however there was hardly any avocado. I literally had to complain again because I didn't believe there was any avocado at all. I wouldn't be as pissed if this weren't an EIGHTEEN DOLLAR breakfast burrito. Lastly, the coffee lids don't fit on the cups. We tried to put one on and ended up spilling the entire coffee. I chalked this up to an accident on our part, however another patron who observed our incident said "their lids don't fit the cup, right??" And I was like "oh so it wasn't just us??" And she was like "no, I almost spilled mine all over too." This random patron encouraged us to ask for a new cup of coffee as a result (thanks, random patron!). The Molly's team did kindly make us a new (albeit quite bitter) drink, which I appreciate. However, the lid was still an issue - it would spill out of the cup all over the rim between the cup and the lid when I'd try to take a sip, so I took off the lid entirely, but then was stuck with dealing with spills while walking around - I had to move at a snail's pace to prevent spills altogether. This was easier to deal with random leakage around the entire cup every time I'd sip with the lid on. Ultimately It was just a lose-lose with the ill fitting lid situation. All this to say - Molly's Team, yall were fantastic just a month ago. What happened? I understand food and services in the beach area stuff are often expensive and rarely good, but you guys are *too* expensive for this poor of service and quality. Two stars because at least the folks there are generally nice.

Sadly, seems like my main dish was the only one that was off. For the side dishes, I do highly recommend the potato puree. The roasted mushroom is again, overly salted. For dessert, we ordered coffee and a tiramisu cheesecake. Amazing amazing cheesecake and excellent coffee. When I asked where the coffee was from, the server actually gave us a free bag of coffee beans since they actually don't sell the coffee at the roaster, so I really appreciated this gesture. Overall, I think the quality of the food here is somewhat inconsistent. Some dishes we had were great and others were off. But the excellent service here (and the fact they gave us free bag of coffee) warrants an extra star, which is why I'm giving this place a 4/5. Would I come back to this place again though? Probably not given how expensive the food is and the inconsistently quality, but it was nice that I gave this place a try in San Diego.

However, if they knew they were having issues with the kitchen then they should've told us earlier before we got seated so people could go elsewhere rather than waiting an hour for their food. Overall, service here was very poor. In terms of food, it was unfortunately pretty good but not worth the wait. I really liked the simple toast with matcha cream on top as well as the curry hamburg. My friend ordered the shakshuka (not pictured because it came last and everyone just wanted to eat at that point) which was also pretty good. For the avocado toast, the toast was too hard so I wouldn't recommend it. We also ordered a yuzu and matcha yuzu mimosa. Both tasted like yuzu. The matcha yuzu one was basically a green yuzu mimosa. They have a vero water purification system so their water was really good lol.

Ocean Cafe instantly became my favorite cafe on my first visit a few months ago. Cool modern interior, convenient location, and everything is DELICIOUS! "Real Brazilian Acai" isn't just a sign... it's how they do it! Simply the BEST acai bowls in San Diego and the best I've tried anywhere in the states.
