My second time trying odd one out but at a new location. The first time I had it was in Pasadena and I decided to hit up the Sawtelle location with some friends. I got the Golden Buddha with Silk Boba (Jasmine) and it was amazing. I didn't adjust the sugar or ice level as I wanted to see how it was as is. I think the drink was a little on the sweeter side so I would recommended getting less sweetness as the silk boba is already sweetened as well. The Jasmine Silk Boba was incredible, I loved the chewiness and taste. It was very QQ. I loved that you could still taste the tea in the milk tea as other boba places mask it with too much milk and sugar. The aesthetic of the place is really cute and uses a lot of wood furniture. I've been eyeing this place for a very long time as I'm always on the lookout for better boba places. And this place is only on the west side of LA--there is no store in the east side of LA, yet. This hails from Taiwan so I was expecting a lot and it's now one of my favorites. My favorite go to order is the champion milk tea with winter melon silk boba. The wintermelon boba is jelly-like and smooth. Very different from the normal type of boba I'm used to. It just adds a subtle sweet flavor but not too sweet. I usually opt out boba because it too sweet for my palate now. I also like to taste the tea in my milk tea and this place just does it how i like it. The jasmine silk boba is everything, and their tea selection is high quality and you can truly taste the depth! I love how this place has so many options. There isn't just one oolong, there's like three and there are jars of it out so you can smell the different leaves. We came here on a whim and we're not expecting such high quality teas. I got the champion red tea which was sweet and milky and my partner for the icy peak tea which was a little more nutty. There were two sample milk teas out, a small batch puer which was so complex and a pistachio iron Buddha which was also quite lovely. We were served quickly and the the staff was all quiet friendly. With all of the boba shops that have popped up over the last few years, I felt like most places felt more or less the same/ there wasn't a ton of innovation. That was before I tried the tea silk boba here. I usually prefer boba over jellies, but the tea silk boba here has this chewier texture than regular jellies. Also, you can really taste the tea flavor. Since I'm typically a sipper, I actually prefer this over boba as it sits in the fridge well vs boba that gets too hard if you leave it in there too long. Additionally, the champion milk tea flavor has a good strong oolong taste to it! The only downside of this place is that the drinks are pretty sweet. I typically do 30-50% sweetness depending on the boba place. However, I still feel like the 30% is still a bit too sweet for my liking. I personally like tasting the tea rather than having sugary drinks. Can I say best boba spot in LA. Definitely in the Sawtelle area. They've got that award winning milk tea here for a reason. Ultra high quality. Fun toppings such as unique boba toppings and silk boba. A small store but you can watch them make everything. Usually been easy for me to find steet parking right in front of the store. Very tasty and recommended it if you love fruit teas and grapefruit. I always ask for less sugar 25% for my fruit teas and less ice, but I wish they had even less sweet options of 15%. I was really excited to try this boba shop as I'd heard some really good things about it but it just didn't hit for me. I arrived around 2pm on a Wednesday and there was just a short line in front of me. My first impression was that service was inconsistent - the cashier seemed very friendly with the 2 groups in front of me but was very flat with me and the group right after me. She wasn't rude but it was a little off putting after seeing a seemingly much friendlier tact with the previous groups. For the drink itself, I ordered the Signature Icy Peak Oolong with boba. For $8 I was expecting a high quality Orobae level drink but it was just very mid - the boba texture wasn't terrible but tasted a little off and the tea itself was completely nondescript compared to any random boba shop. In complete fairness I only tried one drink so some of the other drinks might be better but in my opinion there's something wrong if the award winning drink is underwhelming. They were also generous in their mistake of the tea. I think they really want that standard to be kept up so remaking it without hesitation was diligently acted upon. Small groups of 8 or no more when the store is empty. Not a lot of place to chill but more of a seating along the walls for photos and wait for drink and on your way type of store. Pretty solid boba place! The customer service is good, and the staff is nice. While lines can get long, I didn't need to wait much when I visited. They also make sure the tea is prepared to your liking, which I appreciated. I tried the Yuzu Osmanthus Silk Boba, and I thought the drink was light and perfectly suited to my taste. The jasmine silk boba was very unique--it's like boba in jelly form, cut into blocks, which added an interesting texture to the drink. Unpopular opinion but I actually like the drinking boba. They apparently won some awards in TPE for their teas in 2022 and have been riding high ever since. The staff is incredibly helpful, and you can tell there's a made to order aspect to this since it isn't like most boba shops where your tea just comes out immediately after order. I like the balance of all of their drinks including what I call the fruit fusion kinds, and in particular, I DO like the drinking boba/drinking mochi? Got the jasmine silk boba with the watermelon which goes great. Because it's soft, you can put it in the fridge and they won't get all hard like regular boba! One of my favorite teas to order here is their Icy Peak, but I went with a Juniper Bliss to change things up... simply tasty even at 25% sugar! What's awesome is that any friend that I take here also remarks at how purely delicious their teas are! Simply put - this is NOT worth nine dollars for a milk tea. I walked in and waited over 10 minutes before I was acknowledged by any person. I was standing right in front of the register and nobody even asked if I was picking up an order. When I finally flagged down barista/cashier, she seemed annoyed that she was there to do her job of taking my order and making my drink. They had a sample of the iron Buddha pistachio and that was very good, but needed a pick me up before the dinner rush and opted for the matcha pistachio with almond milk. One of the workers warned me that for all the pistachio lovers out there the matcha does mask the flavor buuut I loved how nutty and rich the matcha was in itself and it was goooood matcha. I went for 50% which was perfect sweetness, but if you're not naturally a straight matcha drinker, I recommend 75%. 50% for the iron Buddha was pretty sweet but I think it just depends on the drink. Anyways, I went with the coconut sugar boba. I heard about the jasmine silken jelly and I did try one from my friend's and just couldn't do it because of the texture but it's made in-house and had a very strong tea flavor which I loved! Overall, very good! Pricey, but granted it is made with pistachios. I come from the SGV and we have so many good boba options, but I like how unique ODD is, similar to bopomofo--it's really a specialty boba spot! Amazing drinks!!! The taste is honestly unmatched. What I ordered: -Golden Buddha Silk Boba: Very pronounced Iron Buddha tea and fresh organic milk. The cane syrup sweetener was PERFECT; the drink was not too sweet nor was it bitter or astringent in any way. I chose the 5 ice piece option which was perfect as it also prevented the drink from getting diluted. I opted for the wintermelon silk boba which is very light. I don't know if you could really discern the wintermelon flavor given how strong the tea is but it was enjoyable nonetheless. The texture was really similar to grass jelly but with a teeny bit more stretch/chew. The quantity was also perfect for the drink amount. I honestly could eat a giant bowl of it. Overall, one of the best boba drinks I've ever had. I just wish the drinks were cheaper as I paid $9 for the large size. I understand the shop is located in an expensive area but it does limit people's ability to come back consistently despite how great the drinks are. The shop and parking: The shop is located facing the street, right next to Artelice and the plaza with another coffee shop and other various businesses. There are limited amounts of parking spots outside in that plaza or you can drive underground where the parking attendants are. I was told the businesses in that plaza validate 30-45 minutes of parking (Artelice was 45 mins) so I was able to buy some treats at OOO and Artelice and not have to pay for parking. I did see some parking spots directly in front of OOO on the street but it looked like metered parking, so I don't recommend. The shop itself if pretty small but spacious in front of the counter. There were two benches for waiting but no tables or seating areas if you were looking to hang around or study. It's more of a grab and go spot. Menu was pretty straightforward. Hmmm...I was a big fan not that long ago. But it seems like both the quality of the taste as well as the service is going down. The drinks are on the pricier side, but this seems to be a place that is focused more on the quality of tea so this wasn't a huge surprise. The person taking our order seemed a bit inpatient and appeared annoyed when we asked a question about one of the drinks. Everyone has their off days, but it was a little off-putting. Tucked away in a dark little corner, it doesn't look like much, but there's almost always a huge line outside. After seeing so many people waiting, I finally decided to give it a try. I ordered their award-winning tea, adding boba, foam, and oat milk. The tea itself was smooth and tasted good, but it was way too strong for my taste. Plus, the bobba wasn't quite right - overly burnt, with an odd chemical-like flavor that just didn't hit the mark. With Sunright right across the street, I have to say I prefer it over The Odd Tea any day, especially for their brown sugar tea boba, which is still my go-to.
