The Bacon Wrapped Dates were by the far the best thing I ordered, if you like the sweet & salty combo I would highly recommend ordering this. The Crispy Chinese Chicken salad was really fresh, the chicken was flavorful, and the dressing was packed with flavor (probably made in-house). The Fattoush Salad was also really good, but the vinaigrette didn't pair well with the salad, and could have benefited from an olive flavor. I love their food, but something a little disturbing happened the other day. I ordered online and picked up food from there. And when I opened the food, I realized that it was a wrong order they handed to me. I went back to there immediately and we found out my actual order was sitting on the counter with a tag with different order. The staff at the counter opened and checked the inside of the box and gave it to me. That was totally fine, there was always a mistake and I was happy with the food. But then the staff at the counter put the other tag to the box with the food that I returned. I was shocked and asked, "Wait, I already opened that box... Would the other person want to eat from that..?" But he looked a bit annoyed by that and said "..I don't know.. I have to ask.." (I don't think he asked to anyone as long as I observed) Not sure if this is something I would expected from a restaurant. He didn't know what I did on the food while I opened it. I have been here a million times now and never a bad expirence. I've had their iced coffees, matcha lattes, Barata Avo toast with bacon, short rib sandwich is sooooo good. But I am currently not doing meat so I was looking at the menu with new eyes. They had a raw veggie sandwich that was delightful and I got a side of fries, because life is about balance yall. I missed dinning out the last time restaurants were able to open, so I jumped at it this time. But I also fee uncomfortable at a regular restaurant, with a server. This was a nice medium ground. You order your food inside, take a seat outside and when it's ready someone will bring it to you. But aside from that there is no waiter. Super cute place, which drew me into trying this place as we head back to Norcal. They have an extensive menu and I was wanting to try their food, but walking up to the register, I was greeted (not even greeted) by a man who seemed very condescending. He just asked if I was ready to order - this was after I greeted him cheerily with a good morning. I immediately didn't want any food anymore - went with a coffee instead so we could get out of there. The peppermint mocha was super sweet. The rest of the serving staff was nice, and the items they had for sale were really cute. It's clean tasting, as in you can actually taste the different flavors. But it's also not bland, like eating grass. Furthermore, they have a lot of salads so plenty of food options for those with diet restrictions. The orders are customizable up to an extent. Online ordering is not that much faster. There was no line to order food and not even a quarter of the tables were occupied. Fried chicken sandwich is crunchy, juicy and fully cooked. The bread was solid yet soft. The dressing was tasty. Soy soba noodles was lightly seasoned, or dressed, and they were tasty and had bite. Red velvet cupcakes were moist. Iced mocha was great! Service was friendly and patient and quick. I hate to admit how delicious this place is because everytime I come here I feel like I've dented my wallet and overpaid, but the food here --- is quality. It's fresh, tastes crisp, like a sunshine day. Their avocados are always ripe and perfect: Not too hard, not too mushy. They have such a variety of options that stick for the healthy eater. Your plate will be mainly green and even if you leave here feeling full, it won't be that hard nasty, sick full. It's a really good full, like you did a body good. Parking is a pain in the butt, but definitely worth the trip here. If this place as just $5 cheaper per plate, I 'd probably be lunching here much more frequently. My first visit was a breakfast visit and I spent $20 on myself. I had the avocado toast, and it was A LOT of food (yea their dishes are also large), came out quick. Although I enjoyed my food, I couldn't accept spending $20 on myself for breakfast. My second visit was for lunch where I spent $16 for a chicken salad with grilled avocado and arugula. This is the dish that made me a fan. The avocado was sooooo good, lightly grilled with a touch of lemon, the arugula was crisp and lightly salted, so easy! And that chicken salad! Had a really good brunch here on a recent Sunday. I was able to find parking on the street but O&T have valet available on Kenwood St if you cannot find any. My first impression of the place upon walking in through its giant glass door was how spotless & white the place is. It is so immaculately clean looking that I really could not stop admiring the space. It was impressive. We sat at one of the communal tables as all the individual tables were already occupied. All good. It was a nice huge wooden table and we left our stuff there so we could order. Probably not what they want you to do because priority to sit & eat should be given to those that have ordered already. It was purely accidental that we did that because I met a friend for brunch that I had not seen for a long time and we just sat down to catch up even before we thought of ordering. Oops... So we waited in line and marveled at all the baked goods on display from cookies to macarons to cakes upon cakes. It's really a sight to see the way they have everything for you to drool over. I went with the farmhouse panini ($9) which came with applewood smoked bacon, white cheddar and egg. It was good. The bacon was tasty though I could have used more of it. The egg was bland but the cheddar was good. The bread was toasted and was nice & warm-soft. The panini was served on a wooden cutting board with Olive & Thyme (nice touch) branded on it with a small fruit salad. I liked that. The fruit was refreshing & tasted great. I also got a cranberry coffee cake for dessert and that was excellent. It was a cone type serving. They are all individually wrapped like that. It tasted great. It was moist and there were plenty of cranberries. I wanted to try a slice of the banana crunch cake because they posted it on instagram but $7.50 a slice was too much IMO. I'm sure it's a gigantic slice but I passed. They have lots of other items to buy from cookbooks, to Cafe du Monde chicory coffee to countless other neat items. First off, 5 stars for atmosphere and ambience. I immediately fell in love with this open concept dining experience. This place simply radiates and its nicely decorated glass showcasing many goodies like cakes, cookies, macrons, cheeses, cold pasta salads, etc is beyond words! They have both communal tables and small group tables for 2-4 people with also outside patio seating options. You order at the register and pay first before you sit. I ordered their tuna and kale salad that included cherry tomatoes, white beans, scallions, red onions (thinly sliced), kale and tuna (of course) with a meyer lemon dressing. This salad was zesty and refreshing. Every bite was delicious. I will have to come back again to try their avocado & burrata toast which I've seen pictures of via yelp. I visited Olive & Thyme on a recent trip to LA and I overall enjoyed it a lot. The reason we picked this location for brunch was because the photos on Yelp just looked so aesthetic, so we had to try it... It did not disappoint! This place is all bright light and marble tables and the food served on wooden trays is very aesthetic as well. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich which I enjoyed a lot! It was very messy to eat, but it was definitely tasty. Others in my party ordered the avocado toast the the short rib sandwich, which were also good. I would say the avocado toast is a little overpriced for what it is, but it sure does make for a nice photo. The short rib sandwich was definitely my favorite though as it just tasted so delicious and the meat was cooked really well. A few down falls though: I would say it is a little on the pricier side and parking sucks (we ended up just paying for valet after circling the streets a few times). But I also feel like these are things to expect when going out to brunch in LA, so I wasn't mad about it. The other thing is that we actually did find a hair in one of our dishes. We informed the manager and he offered to bring a new dish, gave us gift cards for the cost of the meal, and brought over a box of cookies from their bakery. He was also extremely apologetic and so kind. So, based on the assumption that this isn't a normal occurrence, I thought he handled the situation very well. read more

My god what a beautiful space! The entrance is already massive, I am OBSESSED with that door! The vibe is white, bright and airy, such a nice place to have a light lunch with the girls or some coffee and desserts. I had an oreo whoopie pie and some coffee (they serve Intelligentista) and took some cafe du monde coffee to go which I was surprised and excited to find. Service is exceptional, everything they make looks amazing! One of those places you do not want to pass up, pricey, but food makes it worth it for occasions. Parking is available in a nearby parking structure around the corner if there is no street parking, they do validate! - Open seating policy, you do not need a reservation, I believe it is first come, first serve, as that was what it was during my daytime visit. Breakfast stops serving at 11am SHARP, and they make sure you know it too, No Exceptions. Service: Decided to come here on short notice for my sister's birthday, we originally came in for breakfast, we walked in around 10:45am, host handed us LUNCH menu's and since it was our first time, he didn't tell us we had to get up and order from the register, that it wasn't table service, so we sat there not knowing a thing for 20 minutes. Then we realized we had gotten lunch menus, so we asked a female server if we could get breakfast menus and she told us they stopped serving breakfast at 11. We told her we arrived before 11 and instead of just saying that they do not serve it anymore, she has the audacity to say "You walked in after 11"...I think we know what time we came in. Some of the staff were rude, as it was our first time and we didn't know a thing. Maybe have a script of things to say to people that walk in, if you're going to play the role of a host. We settled for lunch, even though we were close to leaving to someplace else for breakfast that actually extends to atleast 12pm, like most places. The managers came by and apologized, telling us that it was just their policy and procedure, no exceptions, we understood but didn't appreciate the rudeness of the female server who told us we walked in after 11, just to make it seem like we were overstepping. Food: The food however is delicious! They serve pastries also by the counter, and have wine, rose, different coffee lattes, and overall a wide variety of drink choices. I personally ordered the Grilled Cheese with Apple-wood smoked bacon, and it came with a side of greens salad. The food is healthy, not greasy, and fills you up as the portions are pretty big. They also provide take out, so its more of a café feel as well as a restaurant sit-down. Since it is this way, you have to buy your drinks again if you want a "refill" or something. The green mint iced tea and their house made lemonade is much recommended. Atmosphere & seating: Open seating policy, there is also bar/counter seating available. There are two communal tables, one however is a benched seating, which we were sitting on, we were 5 girls, with boxes of presents and our bags, we pretty much took up the whole table. Towards the end of our visit, two women came and squeezed next to us to grab a seat during a busy day... So confusing since we were pretty much taking up the whole table and we thought it was rude of them to just join us. There is plenty of outdoor seating as well. I love the wall where they sell candles, and other home style accessories. They also sell food and drinks, like a Home Goods store kind of vibe. Bathrooms are ONE person only for both men and women. Cute bathroom, but inconvenient for the large amount of space they have for seating customers. Overall our experience was okay. The food is what will keep someone like me coming back. read more

I... don't quite know how to go about writing this, but I think it's important enough to post, so here goes. I'd like to start off by saying that before the pandemic, I was Olive & Thyme's biggest fan. I'm talking "one of our regulars" status: I went there relatively frequently for either breakfast or lunch (I worked close by) and would come in at least twice a month for dinner (I was obsessed with their penne and fennel sausage pasta). I went there so often that the servers knew me by sight and name, and I knew and was friendly with a few of them as well. The food was excellent (it still is very good, to be honest), but the staff was even better. I loved it. However, something has changed post pandemic (whether that is new ownership or new manager, I couldn't tell you, although I don't recognize anyone from pre pandemic times now), and it is NOT in the good way. Regardless of how good the food is, I cannot sit by and be a bystander anymore to how poorly the staff is treated in this establishment now. Just today, I witnessed someone I assume is a manager berate a chef at full volume and in full view of the entire restaurant. I've never seen anything like it. Another time, a poor waitress was screamed at over not bussing a table quickly enough, again in full view of customers. I understand that managing people comes with the expectation of giving feedback when an employee is not working up to the required standard, but these are not examples of that. This was truly heinous and bullying behavior from a leader to a subordinate both times. In front of paying customers to make it even more humiliating. It is with a heavy heart that I write this, but if this continues, I cannot in good conscience come back. read more

This is the cutest restaurant I've been to!! I love the interior layout, decor, and how their boxed goodies are all set up. The boxes and goodies were so perfectly placed that I was scared to touch anything because I thought it may fall. The whole restaurant is surrounded by windows, so you have that beautiful natural lighting coming in. The outdoor seating is also very nice, especially with our SoCal weather. I got something off their "Special Menu". It was arugula salad with grilled chicken in a pesto sauce? with a lemon/olive oil dressing and a slice of bread, I believe...Whatever it was, it was delicious and my boss got the same thing. First and foremost, I want to make a disclaimer: I am an essential worker, and I received free food from this restaurant as a donation for what I do. I am very grateful for this company's decision, and that did factor into my rating consideration. With that said, I remain to be as truthful and unbiased as possible when composing this review, and will focus on the quality of the food and of course, its taste. Let's start. A few days ago, I was gifted a box of vegetarian pasta option on an evening shift. It's simply labeled "penne with vodka sauce, vegetarian". I opened the box and saw a box of pasta noodles, tossed in a yellow-orange sauce. What? That looked positively boring?! Being a meat lover, I was a bit turned off by the lack of meat... or anything really... that accompanied the penne. Without giving it much more thought, I took it home. After baking the noodle dish in the oven at 400°F for 20 minutes, the penne was nice and hot, almost just as fresh as it was directly from O&T's kitchen. And then the first unsuspecting bite... ..."DANG! THIS IS VERY TASTY!" I thought. It's a very nice combination of flavors. It's sweet, savory, and a little tangy, and it's definitely cheesy! It might've looked a bit vanilla without any visible topping, but I assure you, there's a decent amount of food magic embedded. I did not, however, taste any hint of vodka in there. So I dunno what's that about. Never judge a book by its cover and a penne by its simplistic presentation, I learned today. I gobbled down my portion in record time. Yum, yum, and yum. As the item was complimentary, I cannot say for certain its cost. It's $14 on the official website, though. A bit pricey for a plain plate of noodles to me, but this is a fancy "hipster" place, I suppose? It'd most likely fall under the marginally reasonable range for me had I been dining in. Again, the quality is definitely there, and I do recommend it to others! Penne with vodka sauce, I imagine it'd be a nice addition to another entree to create a complete meal. Okay! It's hardly ever that I have zero complaints about..well, anything! All the workers from the cashier, to the bus boys(and girls) were a breath of fresh air! Truly, they made our luncheon all the more better with their great attitudes and wonderful etiquette. As far as food, we had the -B.A.T. Sand which and it tasted just as nice as it looked. -lemon chicken farro soup- soft textured farro with thin cut chicken slices and veggies. Rich in lemon flavor but not overwhelming. The soup comes off light and is a perfect size. -Avocado and burrata toast- we ordered two of these, one without the cheese and both were utterly amazing. The burrata was fresh, avocado and heirloom tomatoes were of great portions and the fresh basil on top was just the right combination. -fattoush salad- coming from knowing what a real fattoush salad is supposed to be, I wasn't expecting it to be on point because there are certain greens many are unfamiliar with necessary for this salad. However, with just the ingredients they used they still managed to make a delectable salad. I added some of the free range chicken as I like my protein. Can't wait to be back and try some more off their menu, though I feel like I'll be back for the options I tried as well! Came here for a late lunch because it was close to my work place. This place is distinctly crafted for LA clientele, with its twinkle lights, white/marble walls and tables and dishes served on wooden boards. At the register I ordered the infamous avocado toast, paying a hefty $16 for it. Then I found a table to seat myself. Utensils are on the table, and you serve yourself water from the jug at the left side of the room. The wait time for my toast was about 20 mins or so, which seemed like quite a bit for toast especially since there weren't many people left in the restaurant. My avocado toast came with a small side salad. The toast itself is pretty tasty, and I could tell that the burrata they use is high quality. However, it seems they'd run out of cherry tomatoes so instead they cut a tomato into 4 large chunks and slapped them on top, making it hard to eat and kind of lazy looking. As far as service, the people who rung me up and brought over my food seemed pretty dismissive and only came by to clear my dishes from the table. I guess I shouldn't be surprised after reading some other reviews on here about rude servers. I will add that street parking is hard to come by here, and it seems the only close by option is pricey structure/valet parking. Overall, the toast was good but it was also definitely something I could make myself after a trip to Trader Joe's. Not worth $16 in my opinion. It's close to my work and a convenient place for a lunch during the work week, if you have money you want to burn.
