Entire menu is gluten free GF, we ordered 6 different macaroon flavors and enjoyed every one~ the macaroon are not overly sweet and have no artificial taste, the best I've had in Austin! The price is good as well, I've seen many places charge 1.50-2.00 for macaroons that are factory made. The line moves quickly and there is a lot of seating outside. I remember first experiencing Omg Squee during the pandemic from a Yelp virtual event and enjoyed them and always had it in my mind but it was just out of the way for me in South Austin to go to consistently. Cut to the big surge from Queer Eye and I'm so happy for all the well deserved love and support. And I'd been wanting to try them again but I kept hearing how busy it was and things selling out so again I put it off. It wasn't until recently when a friend of mine moved nearby that I had reason to visit more frequently. I came midweek afternoon one day and everything I had was so good. I was sad to see that some mochi donuts were not available so they do sell out early even on weekdays. The mochi donuts I did try were great, and the texture is among the best of mochi donuts I've tried at other places. The standout for me was definitely the soft serve. I had the Ube and Brown Sugar Milk Tea swirl and it was a match made in heaven. I had it in the Taiyaki cone and I didn't love the cone texture and flavor (my favorite Taiyaki is SomiSomi for reference). Not the biggest deal but I will just get the soft serve on its own moving forward. read more

There is seating outside but the weather is really hot currently so we ate it inside. The cafe is very small and crowded, but you don't eat inside anyway. They've got tables in the shade both on the patio and in a garden to the right. I've been dreaming about these treats since I saw the bakery on queer eye! We came here around 3pm on a Thursday and only one donut was sold out and two ice cream flavors. I only had a bite of my friends caramel donut and it was absolutely delicious. I had the ube taiyaki ice cream with Oreo dust and Nutella in the cone and it rocked my world. I'd never had ube before, but it tasted like a very smooth, pure vanilla in a lovely, shocking purple color. The cone with the Nutella was soooo good to finish it off. If you're in the mood for something sweet, OMG Squee is the place to go! We came around 4pm, which was great because the line was short. BUT at that point, they ran out of most of their mochi donut flavors. The mochi donuts are kinda like cake donuts with a bouncy texture. They are thick and almost like a butter mochi cake. Overall, it's not my favorite kind of mochi donut, but still pretty good. Out of the two flavors they had left, key lime was my favorite. The Taiyakis are DELICIOUS! The owner thankfully was able to get me half Bao custard and half ube in a cup, with a taiyaki upside down. I love eating it this way because it's wayyy less messy. You couldn't really taste the ube but the custard was absolutely delicious. Will try to go again when more flavors are available! read more

O.M.G. squeeeeeel with joy! After trying to check them out for months, people of Yelp, i have news to share - yes, it is possible to find them open. They have recently expanded their hours and weekdays they use the power to make hot pockets (no soft serve), weekends is the opposite focus on soft serve (no hot pockets). Donuts all days they're open - if there are any still left that is! The hot pockets are awesome! I know they get known for the soft serve and I haven't tried it yet. Super cute place to visit on a hot day - we came after getting lunch somewhere else and I got the taiyaki ice cream sundae. AHHHHHH I'VE BEEN WANTING TO GO HERE FOR MONTHS AND FINALLY GOT AROUND TO IT. So freaking worth it!!! 5/5 would recommend. Starting off, not even going to lie, the exterior of the building looks quite sus. This little shop is in the middle of no where and kind of looks sketchy. There's a picnic area and also outdoor seating in the patio area. The inside is quite small, but kind of cozy and well decorated. Onto the food, it was amazing. I don't think there is any other dessert place that makes taiyaki + soft serve. The menu also has a lot of boba and mochi donut options but I didn't try them this time. I got the Ube and Cheesecake swirl and my friend got the Mexican chocolate and black sesame swirl. The flavor of the Ube was pretty good, could've been stronger but I think Ube is a hard flavor to perfect in ice cream. The cheesecake flavor wasn't really flavorful at all, just tasted like vanilla. I tried my friends and both of his flavors were really strong and good. Even though flavor didn't pack a punch for me, the texture was amazing and I still enjoyed it. I topped it off with fruity pebbles and taiyaki was filled with red bean...yum! I really enjoyed the crisp and warm taiyaki after eating the ice cream. I will definitely be coming back. I am so happy that my friend introduced me to OMG Squee. I can enjoy everything without having to fuss over my gluten allergy. This place is super cute. I love all of their adorable decor and merch. Lines will be out the door during peak hours and they tend to run out of their animal donuts around 4-5pm on the weekends so plan ahead if you want to try their donuts. Their menu is vast- from boba drinks to taiyaki ice cream cones, there's something that is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. I really like the Ube flavored menu items. Completely not worth the wait. My friend and I waited in the hot sun for over an hour, and when I went inside, I immediately knew why. They allow 6 customers in at a time, and they act like they're in no rush at all. Three employees are working at a turtle's pace, and they don't communicate with each other. The ube ice cream was almost out, and I don't know why all three employees had to gather together and stop what they were doing to have a conversation about it. They were well aware that there was a long line outside in the hot Texas summer sun, and they made no attempt to speed it up so more customers could come inside to shelter against the heat. Their taiyaki isn't that good, and their ice cream isn't creamy. I also ordered a Hong Kong MT that was bland and tasted worse than a store-bought milk tea. Like many, I found this amazing bakery thanks to Queer Eye and had to add it to my list for Austin! I went around 5 on a Friday and there were a few customers there, but not a crazy wait! The stars aligned for my visit and they released a mango lassi mochi donut (aka the donut of my dreams I would've never made by myself - donut with mango icing, pistachios, and cardamom) and a soft serve swirl of banana milk & ube. The donut was delicious - it was my first time having a mochi donut and the texture was great! The flavors in the ice cream were so yummy and not overpowering/artificial - I wish I could transport a pint of this back home, so don't miss it while it's there! Since they rotate out their soft serve flavors periodically, and only run one out of two soft serve machines on a Thursday, I wasn't able to try the white rabbit or the miso milk caramel, but I did get the banana and ube swirl with Oreo crumble on top. It was amazing! The texture and creaminess were perfect, and both flavors together were a great match. The red bean taiyaki was a delicious dessert at the end of the creamy creation. Do NOT shy away from these uncommon flavors you are sure to find in Asia. The salted egg Mochi donut for example was out of this world! I heard rave reviews of this place on Instagram and was so excited to come check it out. Parking lot is tiny and tucked away near a railroad crossing. Austin summer is brutal, so waiting outside for the first bit was a bit much. Once inside, though cooler, the tiny space with the window box AC struggles to keep the space cool with all the crammed bodies. Colorful lucky cats line the window and cute t-shirts keep you distracted while you wait. We ordered the ube and black sesame soft serve on the taiyaki with custard. While the ube has great flavor, the black sesame flavor was really light which was super disappointing. The taiyaki has a cute design and great texture, but the custard was pretty much non-existent. We ate it in the air conditioned car since it was so hot outside and the soft serve melts fast. Also picked up some donuts, tried the matcha, black sesame, Vietnamese coffee, and coconut caramel flavor. The texture of these are similar to desserts made around Lunar New Year (except honestly, better), and the best flavor was the matcha donut. Again the black sesame flavor was really light and you couldn't taste the coffee flavor on the Vietnamese coffee donut. The only thing I'd come back for is the ube ice cream on the taiyaki, but probably when it's cooler. read more

One of my favorite dessert spots! All of the treats here are so pretty and so delicious. But my personal favorite is the customizable taiyaki. For the price, the taiyaki is decently sized and I would be happy if that's the only thing I got. The mochi donuts are good but not that special. And I think it's a lot more expensive than it should be. The drinks are also decent. It's a bit too sweet for me considering everything else they serve is also sweet, but I would also never come just for the drinks. I've seen on their website, they also serve japanese cheesecake, but when I asked the workers about it, they sadly told me that right now they don't have the manpower to be making the cheesecakes throughout the day along with everything else. So hopefully they bring that back soon, and I'll be sure to come by again! Some overall tips, make sure to come early as they run out of certain items pretty early on in the day. WOW... what a nice treat, literally... I have been following OMG Squee on instagram for a while but I have (for some reason) never gone to try some of their treats. But finally, I had the opportunity to go and I am so glad I did. First of all, the whole branding is super cute. I love the pink walls, the cute designs and the colorful atmosphere of the inside. It feels very welcoming and makes me feel like I kid again. I had three of their staple items. First I got to try their macarons. Macarons are one of my favorite dessert items so I was very excited to try them. My favorite macaron was their fruity pebble one. I love the crunchiness of the cereal and the creaminess of the inside. Perfectly sweet. Their flavors rotato on a daily basis which is exciting. I can't wait to try their holiday flavors. I also had their ube ice cream which I liked more than I thought I would. I am not a huge ube person but the flavor was very mild and light. I would get it again. Went for boba and ... I am impressed! Simple as that. The location is hard to get into and sort of easy to pass up, but look for the building with pastel pink and half wheel metal work (?) on top. Everything is take out. They have this nice little area to the right of the building full of pecan trees for shade and benches/tables to sit and enjoy your drink. The Hong Kong Milk Tea and its boba is mind blowing. Super smooth and flavorful with 0 signs of bitterness. The boba is made in-house and hand cut. Yes they're not perfect sizes to each other bc it's hand cut. I've been to many boba places and this is the ONLY location where you can taste the boba. I was excited to try this place after seeing the buzz on Instagram. The first time I tried to go there was an event taking place and the line was down the block. Thankfully it wasn't busy around noon last Saturday. I ordered two donuts - London fog & Thai tea. I've never had mochi donuts before so I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. I tried both and they were just ok. The icing on top is like your standard homemade mix of confectioners sugar and lemon juice. The decorations and the flavors definitely brought me in, but I was disappointed and I don't know that I would return for more. It might be worth trying once just to say you had a cute cat donut, and it looks good on social media, but I think there are a lot better donut options around. read more

Came here after lunch on a Sunday and I got the ube soft serve in the taiyaki cone with sprinkles. It was the most tasty ube ice cream I have ever had. Not too sweet and oh so purple ha-ha! I cannot wait to be back in Austin and visit again so I can try the other things on the menu. They have mochi, donuts, bubble tea, iced coffee and matcha lattes, and other soft serve flavors. This is the cutest little donut boba shop! 1. I'm so happy the diversity is hitting Austin like this. It has an Austin twist eek!!! 2. Its location in East Austin so you dont have to drive so far out of the way. We got the mudslide, lemon butter, and 1 more donut. I forgot, we ate them so fast. Cute restaurant front with a few picnic tables on the side of the building to enjoy your food. The soft serve ice cream is good, the flavors change every two weeks. It was matcha and cereal milk today with the option to swirl it. For the taiyaki, you choose 1) ice cream flavor, 2) filling the the tail of the cone, and 3) one topping. Kinda pricey for an ice cream cone, I guess it comes with the photogenicity of it too. Not sure if I'd return for the taiyaki. The cone was extremely hard and crunchy which is a little different from traditional taiyaki cone. After some ice cream melted into the cone, it did soften a bit on the inside and became more enjoyable. I really like their variety of boba drinks. The El Tigre Chino is the brown sugar boba drink, it came with a creamy foam top. Wasn't a big fan of this, I think the whole milk made it too creamy and heavy for me. Wasn't able to substitute with any other milk for this drink. Parking is a little limited in the front of the store, but there is a small area for parking just a bit past the store right next to the train tracks. read more

After a delicious sushi dinner, my friends and I wanted some dessert. I am gluten and dairy free and had heard fantastic things about omg squee so off we went! I was impressed with the store, the decor is very cute inside. Although it is a bit small, but there is decent outdoor seating. When I got to the counter I wanted a mochi donut but they were all sold out :( so my options were then limited because of my lactose intolerance. I ended up still getting a taiyaki with ice cream and decided to face the consequences later. The ice cream was very tasty and so was the tayiaki. But I just cant get past the fact that there were NO vegan/dairy free ice cream options. Considering how widespread lactose intolerance is in Asians, I would expect at least one option. I hope they consider this and I would happily come back. Will update this review once I get my hands on a mochi donut! read more
