I'm surprised I've not reviewed Omicron before now. I now find myself getting one out there, but rather late in the game. For those not following along with current West Bend events, Omicron is shortly to be on its way out to allow the owner to finally retire and to pave the way for a new Culver's. I can say I will sadly miss the Omicron breakfast. Generally generous portions, reasonable prices and good food. I was happy Omicron took over after Country Kitchen abandoned the location. I don't know when the final curtain call will be for Omicron, but it's soon approaching. Stop for a good breakfast and a look around before the building is no more. read more

They say that they are open until 3:00 pm. We have been there many times and we always eat lunch between 2 and 3. On Friday we drove to West Bend just to have lunch at the Omicron, we arrived at exactly 2:30 pm and was met at the door by a waitress. She would not let us in but said if we wanted soup to go they would bring it to us otherwise she said they are closed!!!! It's 2:30 she said we could only get soup to go. So we left. We have been there several times shortly before 3:00 and always have been served. If they want to close at 2:30 fine, don't say you are open until 3:00! We won't be back read more

I had high hopes for this place as I can finally start having breakfast in a sit down restaurant again. This place probably has the most stupid COVID 19 rule that is just asinine that makes absolutely no FUC#ING sense. You will get walked to your table, they will bring water and requested table fixings to your table, they will bring your food to your table and they will bring your check to your table, they will check on how you are doing but they can't take your order at your table so you have to walk to the register and place your order. WTF is this stupid nonsense and what genius thought that your server could come to your table for everything except to take your order. I ordered the $8 gyro and feta omelette that comes with toast and hash browns but I requested tomato and onion in my omelette to make it more like a gyro. To my amazement they changed me $10 for my breakfast, that's an extra $2 for a little tomato and onion which is 25% more for my breakfast overall which is excessive I thought. My breakfast came hot to the table which I liked but I instantly noticed that the gyro meat was all uniformly sliced the same, not cut off the gyro spit real gyro meat but the kind you get in the store with the gyro sandwich kit. The gyro meat, feta cheese, tomato and onion omelette was a pretty good combination which made for a tasty breakfast. The hash browns were golden crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, slightly seasoned just how I like them and good. The toast was was room temperature so the butter was smeared on and not melted into the bread which I didn't care for. Charging 25% more for an omelette breakfast for a little tomato and onion is really ridiculous so I would never go back to this restaurant. read more

Let's start with we have only visited a few times. Not very busy today so because we were hungry popped in. Service started out good but when she brought the food it was just slammed down and mine almost ended up in my lap. The breakfast was not very good and all of it was piled on the plate that looked as though they were in a hurry? NOT overly busy so that can't be it. Potatoes were cold and stale tasting and bacon was like eating rubber. We decided that we would just pay and leave and not return. But we were asked at the front counter how it was and I simply said not very good and that I probably would not return. The older woman giving us our change said... hope we see you never. Local Greek family restaurants are something I try to seek out in any town. I have only gone to Omicron for breakfast and they have done a great job every time. The service is quick and the food has been nothing but good. I usually go for the Greek Omelette or something with the combination of gyro meat, spinach, and feta. The ambiance is consistent with other Greek restaurants I have been to, almost like a diner type feel. Overall, my experiences have been very good and there never really seems to be a wait, which is good when you are hangry in the morning. read more

Came here for breakfast while running some errands in West Bend. The place was packed, but we were seated right away. The menu is huge, with a bunch of breakfast specials. Our server was very fast and friendly, and we ordered within minutes. Even with a near full house, our food arrived within 10 minutes. We each ordered 2 eggs over easy, with ham, hash browns, and toast. It was a huge plate of food. Eggs cooked perfectly. Hash browns fluffy and not overcooked, toast excellent. The ham could have been a bit more moist, but still tasted great. It is amazing how this place runs like a machine, managing all of the customers and massive amount of items on the menu, without missing a beat. Well done employees of Omicron! read more

Our server Maranda was friendly and efficient and the other staff that we encountered were all very welcoming. As we were eating our bland omelets and hash browns made with old grease, we overheard our server telling a customer that all the mom and pop restaurants in West Bend were closing. Perhaps that's why the food was edible, but below average. Coffee was terrible. When you don't have much competition, doesn't give you any reason to try harder. We hike in the Northern Kettle Morraine several times each autumn. Before our next trip, I'll be doing research on other restaurants in the area that serve breakfast. My family and I have eaten at Omicron on several occasions and have usually been pleased with the food and service, but today was the first time we stopped for breakfast, and I was not at all impressed. My wife and I both ordered omelettes. She had a basic ham & cheese, and I chose their gyro omelette. When our food came, I was expecting to have an omelette filled with lamb meat, chopped onions and tomatoes, and topped with the signature tzatziki sauce. Instead, all I got was a regular omelette with gyro meat. Nothing more. I ended up requesting the tomatoes, onions, and sauce. The waitress came back with a plate containing a couple of rings of onion, and two tomato slices, and two small cups of the sauce. I had to chop the vegetables up myself and place them in my omelette!! They weren't even cut up!! When I order a Mexican omelette, is usually comes with taco meat, tomatoes, onions, maybe some peppers INSIDE, and a choice of salsa, sour cream, or both. In my opinion, THAT is what an omelette should be: stuffed with ALL the fixings traditionally found in either a taco or a gyro. THIS, on the other hand turned into a build your own omelette bar!! For the record, my wife's ham & cheese omelette was fine, but really...if you screw THAT up you have no business working in a professional kitchen!! Also, the "hash browns" that came with our meals left a lot to be desired. They were overdone on the outside, and the inside had the consistency of a baked potato. Very bland and mushy. Not very enjoyable at all. I'm not saying I won't be back. No restaurant can please everyone, and as I stated earlier, we have eaten there before and had a good experience. But I may avoid ever ordering off the breakfast menu again. read more

We went for a quick evening meal. While not fine dining the food was good and reasonably priced. What set the Omicron apart were the people. The employees all were working. They were constantly cleaning waiting on tables all the while having positive interactions with their coworkers. They also greeted regular customers by name along with a hug. This was certainly a pleasant change from some of the restaurants we have come across where employees are complaining and sometimes it's hard just finding a clean table. Stopped in for dinner, I know Greek restaurants usually serve a large amount of food. I had the Lasagna special. It was ok, but lacked the Italian saucy taste. I guess you don't order Italian food in a Greek restaurant, I should have know better. I must say that the amount I received in food was generous for the $$$. Was travelling in West Bend for the past week and wanted some good home cooking. 9 bucks got me 2 good sized meatloafs, sauerkraut, red cabbage, veggie soup and then some dessert (had the strawberry shortcake). The veggie soup was so good (orzo, lots of veggies) - just amazing good ol'home cookin. I would say this restaurant has good bang for the buck. We decided to try this family restaurant under the general premise that Greek Family Restaurant serve simple, good food. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Blue, Mom got the Goulash, and Dad got Two Brats and Two Eggs. Mom's and my dinner came with salad. The lettuce wasn't overly appetizing, but the salads were fine. Mom's goulash did not look appetizing and the noodles were a combo of spaghetti and linguine (odd?). Mom said it tasted better than it smelled. The Cordon Blue had a curious yellow sauce covering it and the entire plate. The baked potato was sitting in the sauce, too. I avoided the sauce since I couldn't figure out what it was. The chicken, when I cut in, oozed a chunky white liquid and then the swiss oozed out. It looked like a bad frozen dinner. The baked potato was cooked just right, but came with sour cream only. Dad's brats appeared to be breakfast sausage. Mom and I also got dessert. Her "cheesecake" looked to be a no-bake box mix and was "gritty". The waitress was great! This is always my first choice when it comes to going out for breakfast. The menu is absolutely huge. Sometimes I wonder how they do it! They serve whatever you want that is on the menu no matter what time it is. Every time I go here, the food is very good which is the most important thing. As for the service, it's ok. I never had any snotty waitress but the owner is very nice...but just don't talk about politics with him because he will go on and on and on...but just like any other guy willing to do the same. If you are a regular, he will likely let you eat for free because he appreciates his guests and loyalty. I would recommend this place is you need somewhere in WB to eat definitely. read more
