The ONLY Ono location I will visit, everything they do at this location is better than others, the food tastes better, the service is better, there's ample parking and a sister location Ahipoki next door if you aren't feeling BBQ. I came in on 8/13/2024 at 6:47 and I ordered a chicken katsu meal and a mini as well. I didn't receive my accurate order. Was missing one of my sides. Later I asked the guy in the front and he stated that I ordered wrong. Which he ended up charging me again for another meal because he stated it was my fault. I ended up checking the receipt and come to find out I was charged correctly the first time. Now I had to go back and let them know and the guy in the front just walked away. We have been going to Ono Hawaiian BBQ on Campus in Upland for a very long time. The last 2 times we were there, the food and service has gone down. We received 2 little pcs of cabbage, the chicken was burnt and hard. The portions are much smaller, but the price stayed the same. I love ono. This place is great. If you love meat, you'll love this place. This Hawaiian food is honestly just good meat, rice and Macaroni salad. I've been here twice and I love going here when I'm in this area. It's quick, it's simple, and it's a lot of food. My all time favorite meats are the katsu, kalbi, and bbq chicken. You can never go wrong. They also have katsu and teriyaki sauce on the side and get as much or as little as you want. If you don't like the Mac salad you can substitute for more rice or veggies instead. I'm Filipino so I like an even rice to meat ratio but somehow I can have more meat than rice at this place. They have a cute interior with good seating. The servers are really nice and patient with you. If you have questions they'll answer and it's a good time. I think I just really like this place because the quality is great with a great price. I know more expensive chains that charge a bit more, but this place keeps it really reasonable. There is an abundance of parking since it's in a big shopping center (also across from crunch gym). The only thing bad I can say about this place is that the bathroom could use a more maintenance and the kalua pork is a little dry. Other than that, no complaints. Would I come back? My dad loves trying new food so I was pretty excited when an Ono Hawaiian BBQ opened nearby. I decided to check it out on a hot I.E. Saturday afternoon when I was too lazy to cook. There were many options to choose from and I was quite indecisive but their workers here are very nice and friendly. Ironically this one guy who looked like their manager seemed very grumpy compared to the energetic workers. I decided to get two different lunch plates so my dad can have a variety to choose from. I bought an order of the Chicken Katsu ($7.79) and an order of the Kalbi Short Ribs ($9.99). All of their lunch plates come with two scoops of rice, one scoop of macaroni and the protein lays over a bed of steamed cabbage. You can help yourself to sauces and condiments that are towards the back of the restaurant. Upon opening the boxes we were initially deceived thinking it was a large portion, but it is that strategic bed of cabbage that makes the meal look bigger. The scoops of rice and macaroni seems to be thrifty as well. Good thing we had our own rice at home. I usually love Hawaiian macaroni, but this place was rather disappointing. I'm glad I didn't trade out my rice for the macaroni like I would usually do. Furthermore the meats were both subpar as well. The Chicken Katsu tasted okay but the breading layer was thick and the inside chicken seemed thin. The Kalbi was barely flavored and not as good as other places I've been to. My dad thought it was okay. I think if you aren't too picky or if you haven't had good Hawaiian BBQ you might like this place. At least it's cheap? Personally, I would rather make the drive to Rancho Cucamonga for Aloha Hawaiian BBQ where my cousins have been getting their go to Hawaiian BBQ fix on for years. read more

The place was clean and it was packed when I went today. Line was literally almost to the front door. Workers were nice, seemed like they had way too many workers but it wouldnt hurt to have enough than short staffed. Just like the other places, they have combos, and plate dishes you can get. I got the fish plate and chicken combo. Since you are at hawaiian bbq place gotta get the spam masubi! The sauces were by the soda fountain, they have different type of condiments you can pick from (mayo, hot sauce, tartar sauce, soy sauce) The roof was very high and seats were kinda cute. Bench looking chairs to the side and two seater in the middle and four seater tables towards the window. One of the worker was sweeping the floor through while I was there. Parking is fairly easy. The plaza is big enough to hold plenty of customers. Teriyaki sauce they have was hot and katsu sauce wasnt even though it said caution. Overall experience was good. They also have drink fridge with hawaiian sodas you can purchase from. Katsu seemed a little bit fatty but fish was seasoned well and cant go wrong with their macaroni salad. read more

For a fast food place it's really good. 1st time at this location and I liked it better than Alhambra location. Food is prepared to order so you'll have to wait about 10minutes for your food, but very much worth the wait. You can adjust and substitute items at no additional cost. The BBQ Chicken, crispy shrimp, and Kalbi short ribs are my favorites from Ono. This place also has the best teriyaki sauce that isn't watered down, like at the other Hawaiian bbq places around town. I've been enjoying Ono's delicious food since they first opened in Upland, CA on Campus Ave and their more recent location in Upland on Mountain Ave. They have great customer service and the combo meals are large enough to feed two people at a reasonable price. Also, look for coupons in your mail. Ono usually offers really good deals, like buy one combo meal and two large drinks and get one combo meal for free. read more

There was one time where I called 46 times beside getting through to anyone. Today, I've now called 28 times and still cannot get through. It's ridiculous. Ive only ever gotten to=go here and can't say I've been thrilled with it. I generally will not knock a place for slow food because that generally shows me they are cooking it now and not getting it from some warmer somewhere sitting out for who knows how long. Last time I went I sat for 20-25 min waiting on a to-go order while watching the cooks horsing around in back. Would their attention mean my meal cooks faster, probably not but it sure didn't help my mood. And this wasn't the first time. Prices are a bit high but not terrible. I've had mixed experiences with the staff, first time in I don't think the lady at the register ever even saw my face (not really required but seemed creepy) and NEVER smiled.
