Usually no big deal but tonight i was on crutches with a throbbing ankle so after twenty surplus minutes beyond the initial wait, I asked to just get the fries refunded so i could go without them. Instead of just honoring my request, the server disappeared for several more minutes, leaving me standing there at the register with the throbbing ankle. The combo of "this is way past when you told me to come" plus "my ankle is throbbing and I need to go" not just being respected left me with such an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach. Went here for dinner on Friday night. Place was busy but we were seated right away. Inside was super cold (strong AC) so we asked to move outside. We ordered zattar to share , I am a but disappointed that was kind of thick and had cheese all over it !? Not your traditional zattar bread. For main course , I ordered tiger shrimp platter , with 2 sides. The portions were big and very fresh . Greatly seasoned and delicious. I didn't care much about the rice that came with it. It was too wet and mushy in my opinion. I also had a bottle of Lebanese beer. My friends ordered beef shawarma and lamb plate . They liked their meal as well. Open Sesame is one of my favorite restaurants in Long Beach, so when I learned there was another location in LA, I was really excited! Other than parking being difficult (I only saw street parking), I greatly enjoyed my meal here. My brother and I love the grilled halloumi cheese with watermelon and the fried potatoes. The fried potatoes come in a lemon, chili flakes, cilantro, and garlic sauce and I always look forward to having them. The waiter suggested I spend a dollar more for garlic sauce on the side and he was right - it was so delicious and had a nice bite of garlic to it! I spread it across my falafel and it blew my mind. We were hangry and after some time we flashed the waiter to bring us an appetizer pita since we've waited 40 mins. Our waiter said it had been only 20 mins but would check. Then our dishes immediately came out. I got the Open Sesame classic combo where they give you a bit of chicken, beef koobideh, and steak kabob with hummus and salad. This I shared with my kiddo and he happily ate the chicken and rice. Their hummus is the best. Garlic sauce is light and velvety. I suggested my husband to try their Saturday special kabssa (stewed lamb) with special rice. That was the best hands down. The ambiance is lively and the artwork is really interesting to look at. Makes you feel like you're in another country. Staff is really lovely there. We apologized to our waiter for being hangry. When you sell a plate of food for 27+tax+tip you do not charge 1,5$ for garlic souce or hot souce.. no body tips us when we working at out job!! Yes 18% lowest tip. 10% tax. Plus souce and bread.. we feed one person paying for two!! They ll start charging for napkins they provide with food soon!! So 40$ food becomes 58$. Open Sesame is hands down our favorite spot for Middle eastern food. Their pizzas and kebab plates are definitely the best I have had in LA. We usually get the chicken kebab and lamb kebab plates along with the pizzas. And, definitely try their lamb chops - so flavorful, juicy and my son loves it. Their service is also always amazing. There have been times we have showed up without calling in advance but they also are so courteous and accommodate us as soon as they can. Give it a try if you haven't! read more

Great food. We shared appetizers of the veggie plate, falafel patties, and hummus. Family had the lentil soup and the spicy vegetable soup. Very flavorful, though the veggie soup was not too spicy. (Not a complaint, but noting for those wary of spicy food.) the Open Sesame salads were great with chicken tawook and shrimp were excellent! The falafel wrap was also quickly and happily consumed. We have been to the Ling Beach location multiple times and have always enjoyed it. We were pleasantly surprised to discover the second Fairfax location. This is my favorite restaurant in LA. Drove by for a long time and thought nothing of it, then my friend brought my and I fell in love. The baklava crumble is the best desert I've ever had. It is a small restaurant, and they do not take reservations, but I have never had to wait to long for a table, usually there is no wait. Staff is really nice too. Price is barely more than your average diner too, but the food is fine dining. I now go at least once a week. Also the Turkish coffee is unreal. read more
