I had such a lovely experience at Oraan! The restaurant has a warm, colorful atmosphere, and everything we ordered was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The Gai Manow was the absolute highlight for me. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, and the house-made lemon cream sauce was creamy, bright, and incredibly delicious. It was one of those dishes you keep reaching for even after you are already full. The Tom Yum was also amazing--hot, sour, aromatic, and deeply comforting. The lemongrass, galangal, mushrooms, kaffir lime leaves, and herbs created such a rich, balanced flavor. It tasted fresh and warming without any one ingredient overpowering the others. We also enjoyed the colorful Tum Pon La Mai, Choo Chee Salmon, Nuer Marakot, and Thai iced tea. Everything felt creative while still keeping the comforting flavors I love about Thai food. I would happily come back, especially for the chicken and Tom Yum!

I made a reservation via Open Door and put a note in that we were celebrating a birthday and asked that if they do anything for birthdays that would be appreciated. Our reservation was on a Wednesday night at 7:30pm and the place was empty. Yet it took a long time for anyone to come out of the kitchen area to seat us. And once we were seated, it was another long wait for our server to come back and take our order and we had to ask for water. Once the food came out, service was good but after all the plates were cleared, we were waiting for our server to come back to get the check, and I ended up having to go over to the kitchen area to find our server and ask for the bill. And when we paid for the bill and my friend and I did the polite fight over who was paying and I said that I would be paying because it was his birthday, our server said, "oh happy birthday." This showed me that they had not read my note on Open Table at all. Onto the food. The hoi jor was tasty and the skin had a nice crispiness. The pad kemao had a good flavor but the beef was very tough. The kapow moo krob was quite liquidy, which made the pork skin soggy when it should be crunchy, and the pork meat was very dry somehow.

Nice Thai restaurant at Inner Richmond San Francisco. We came here for lunch. The restaurant was not that busy at that time. The interior is nicely decorated and clean. the menu is not simple and complete. We order variety of dishes from appetizers like Kung Chom Jun and Gai manow which are yummy. I never had these type of appetizers before. For Main course we go all in and order multiple dishes. The highlight are the King Makam: Crunchy prawns in tamarind sauce, Kor Moo Tod and Moo Pik Kang. They are unique and yummy. The Pad Kee Mao and Pad Sew Euw are ok. For me they are too sweet. There are other dishes on the menu that we would like to order but what we ordered was already too many. The service was excellent and I plan to visit again next time to try other dishes. parking is on the street.

A bit hard to find parking. Came at 11:30am on Saturday and there was no wait. The interior is very clean and open. Service was quick. Food tasted very fresh with great flavors. Got pad Thai, sukho noodles, and kor moo Tod pork shoulder. I'd recommend this place.

Fresh, flavorful, and authentic! Every dish we tried was delicious and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The papaya salad was crisp and refreshing with the perfect balance of tangy, sweet, and spicy flavors, plus crunchy peanuts for great texture. The Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, basil stir-fry, and curry were all packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. Portions were generous and the service was warm and friendly, and the cozy atmosphere made the meal even more enjoyable.

I made reservations online about a week in advance for my friend's birthday. Oraan Thai Eatery is located in the Richmond district, so street parking is possible (with a nonzero chance!) Our server was attentive with frequent water refills and clearing the plates as soon as we were done with them. The inside of the restaurant is nice and neat, very spacious seating and tables that can fit many dishes on them. We ordered a bunch of dishes family style and all were reasonably priced and tasty. The standout for me was the Gai Manow- In the nicest way possible, it can only be described as an elevated chicken nugget. It's nostalgic and new at the same time, would recommend. They do the classics (like pad thai and yellow curry) really well, everything having strong flavors and identities.

Everything was so salty. In Japanese there's a term called "shio-karai" which means salty spicy. It's so salty that it feels spicy. That's how it felt to us. We got: Som tum pla raa: 1/5 blue crab was extremely salty. Papaya was also extremely salty. No flavor other than the salt, the cabbage helped. Hai manow: 2/5 also salty. Unfortunately don't remember much other than how salty everything was. We came here without reservation on a Sunday night and they accommodated us quickly. I forget which items we wanted to order though and I do remember they were out of those, so I'd go early!

Food was delicious and flavorful! Presentation was awesome. Will definitely come back.

Ambience and atmosphere is very cute and aesthetic. There are an abundant amount of choices to choose from appetizers to specialties and soups. Appetizers are roughly the same price as some of the entrees, so you can definitely try it as a standalone. It's located in the corner of the street with plenty of seating in both sections to host large parties. We ordered the ginger rice and it was very fragrant and hot to the touch! Moreover, we ordered the famous noodle that everyone gets in medium spicy and gai manow as a side appetizer to share. Broth was extremely rich and decadent. Very fulfilling and soothing to drink at every sip.

Delicious and creative food menu! I want to go back to try their other dishes and desserts. Nuer Marakot - (9/10) our favorite dish. The meat was so tender and well balanced! Salty, slightly sweet and tangy flavor profile. I really liked the sauce they paired with the meat. Som tum pla raa - (6.5/10) Papaya salad with raw blue crab. Decent overall and glad I tried it once but not sure I'd get it again. The raw crab was a bit too salty/intense for my taste and overpowered the salad Water Chestnut jelly with coconut ice cream - (7/10) loved the texture of the chestnut jelly! Towards the end the flavor felt a bit flat/tiring but definitely would get again if sharing with a group Longan juice - (9/10) I loved this drink! I was so happy to see actual longan fruit in the drink. The drink itself was delicious, not too strong but you could still taste the longan flavor.

Been wanting to try this spot for so long so I'm glad I finally got to go! The gai manow is definitely worth the hype and is as good as it looks. Crispy chicken that's also tender and juicy on the inside with a delicious citrusy cream sauce and the most addicting crispy chinese broccoli! An amazing combo and super unique. I liked the sukho thai noodle as well but felt the flavor was too limey for me at first, though it grew on me as I ate more. The crispy pork is great and there's a large variety of toppings which was fun. I thought the pad keemao was just okay and too spicy (even though we got mild) -- maybe I just prefer pad see ew more. Service was amazing and super attentive! They replaced our plates between the apps and mains which was a nice touch and our water was refilled constantly. Vibe inside is also cozy and nicely decorated. Would definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Ambiance perfect,roomy, staff friendly with equal attention shown. Food presentation has unique with a gourmet styled look and with generous servings. Large variety of dishes as well with taste that'll send you back without losing interest in the restaurant. Best Thai cusine to impress friends,family, out of town visitors. Wow! My family and I were blown away by the food here. Every dish didn't disappoint and the service was incredible. They checked in with us, and asked a lot of feedback on their dishes, which we let them know were a 10/10. We left dinner feeling full and knowing this is now our favorite Thai spot! I super recommend getting the crispy pork belly and the fried chicken appetizer with the crispy Chinese broccoli! We couldn't stop thinking about those dishes when we left. I wasn't too sure what to expect because there are a lot of dishes on their menu that you don't see at most Thai restaurants, but I was ready to try new things. We ordered the Gai Manow for appetizer to share and I ordered the Sukho Thai noodles. We were pleasantly surprised with the Gai Manow. The different textures from the breaded chicken and Chinese broccoli made it really fun to eat. The sauce on top tasted like honey walnut shrimp sauce. It was so gooood, we devoured it! The Sukho Thai noodles were also delicious and packed with flavor. I just wished there were more noodles and soup because the protein to soup and noodle ratio was off. Other than that, no complaints. Atmosphere was great and service was attentive. Definitely would recommend if you are looking to try something new! read more

Delicious food and artistic presentation. I ordered the crispy shrimp in tamarind sauce, the mixed seafood curry, and the crispy pork belly. This was our first time, so I asked the server for his recommendations. He said that these were the most popular, so I took his recommendations and they were excellent. A surprisingly amazing Monday lunch. The food is interesting and delicious. The ambience is not quite as artistic as the food but suffices. Definitely on the must try for local foodies. Yesterday my family and I came to give it a try. The place was nice and it was like a fusion fancy Thai not your typical traditional Thai food! The food was not tasty nor flavorful! I asked the waiter what noodles to you have and is this the only kind of noodle bowl you have? He must not hear me or tell me about what the noodle taste like! He just said you want noodle you will like this one! No I did not like it at all it was like a sweet and sour paste noodles and I could barely finished it at all! I just ate the meat! My son ordered the chicken rice plate, broth was not flavorful at all! My daughter ordered curry chicken there was only 3 pieces of chicken and rest was veggies! A newer Thai restaurant in the Richmond area, Oraan Thai Eatery is definitely a place you need to put on your must try list. Thai food is already amazing to begin with, but this restaurant elevates their dishes to the next level while keeping all of the authentic Thai flavors. I got the beef dish with green curry, and the ribeye was perfectly cooked and complemented perfectly with the green curry. It was served on a bed of bamboo shoots, which went well with the very flavorful curry and beef. My friend got the chicken with sticky rice served in the side, and the sauce that came with the chicken was delectable. We also got another main dish instead of an appetizer, the pork belly, and despite the sauce that was generously poured on top, the pork belly remained crispy. I would absolutely get all 3 dishes again, they were exploding with flavor without being too overwhelming. Service was quick and friendly, they were extremely attentive and constantly filled our water cups when they were nearing empty. They provided recommendations when requested as well. The ambiance is nice, great for a date night or even dinner with friends and family. I 100% recommend coming to this restaurant, and I can't wait to be back! read more

I made a reservation and ate here on Xmas eve 2025 with my vegetarian partner. We ordered an appetizer to share, a yellow curry with shrimp for me and an eggplant basil with tofu for him. My curry came out and a basil eggplant with beef. I flagged the error and the waiter said they would redo the eggplant dish. Accidents happen, not a big deal. After a fairly long wait he brought eggplant with basil and this time only vegetables, no tofu. When he finally came to check on us and I told him they forgot the tofu and he replied we'll take it off the bill. No offer to send out some fried tofu? Redo the eggplant with tofu? We are very reasonable and empathetic people. If the waiter had told us look it's xmas eve, the kitchen ran out of tofu, we'd understand. But there was no explanation or gesture of hospitality. In the end the waiter took $2.50 off the bill for missing tofu. I normally am against leaving bad reviews for local restaurants but my partner went home hungry and disappointed. I went home questioning the low-key hostility. read more

Probably my favorite Thai spot in the Richmond, maybe in the city. The decor is really nice which makes it a great option for dining in. They have a big dining room so I imagine can accommodate large parties pretty well. The food is so fresh and flavorful, I particularly liked the crab cakes the fruit salad. The service is fantastic, they are so friendly, attentive and helpful. read more

I decided to eat here only because the name is very similar to mine so it must be good ;-). The food was very good and our server, Kwan, was amazing. Smiling from ear to ear and super nice. I will say the service was a little slow but we were not in a rush but other than that could not have been better. The decor is also very nice. My wife ordered their version of a fruit salad "Tum Pon La Mai" and it hit the spot. Absolutely delicious and very interesting. It was sweet, salty, spicy and sour all in one. I ordered the green curry steak "Nuer Marakot" and the flavor was delicious but I would probably give it 3.5-4 stars because the beef was tough and fatty and a little chewy for my liking. We also ordered the Tom Yum soup and it was perfect. Good spice but not crazy. Lots of veggies. The prices are a little high but not bad and not bad for the quality of the meal. I would return for sure. read more

Just Wow!! I wanted the whole place to ourselves so decided to walk in during the crazy wind/rain storm. I also wanted to order the entire menu, but it was just the two of us and we weren't too hungry. So we ordered the spring rolls, Tom kha soup with chicken, and the Tum Pon La Mai aka fruit salad, and a side of ginger rice. I love that everything was executed with the highest standards. I mean the fruit salad had wavy cuts of apples that did not brown out during our meal, it had strawberries, pineapples, green and red juicy grapes, corn, green beans, carrots, and cashews & peanuts! Like who does that? The soup was impressive. Rich, balanced, and somewhat light. It was perfect to share for 2. The spring roll was tightly rolled with just a thin layer of rice paper, but the insides were stuffed with greens, creamy avocado, cucumber, and something else crunchy. It was simple, yet fancy. The rice was cooked perfectly. We damn near licked every plate clean. I dunno this place will probably get a bib gourmand. So happy that I live within walking distance from here. Cannot wait to eat their entire menu. read more

WOW. INCREDIBLE FOOD. This is a place we randomly stumbled upon and WOW. Seriously it did not disappoint. The reviews caught our attention so we decided to stop by and let me just say that this is now my favorite Thai place in the city. I had a fruit salad per the servers recommendation, and it was so fresh and unique I'd order it again without hesitation. If you like Papaya salad, then definitely get the fruit salad one. It's basically the same thing but instead of papaya, they add fruits like grapes,strawberries and pineapple. SO GOOD! Everyone at the table loved it. We also had the Tom kha soup and it was INCREDIBLE. The service was amazing. Super friendly staff and they all had great recommendations. The ambiance was super nice. We did have to wait a little bit because it was packed. But it's a nice and cozy little restaurant. Will definitely come back and recommend this place to all my friends. read more

Came here with a friend for lunch and it was so delicious! Easily one of the best Thai spots I've had here in the city, especially given its more unique dish offerings. My standout favorites were the Gai Manow and Sukho Thai Noodle. Service was excellent and the wait staff was so friendly! Beautiful interior, calming music, and friendly staff. Enjoyed everything we ordered: 1. Curry puffs - Abundantly filled. Flaky on the outside, soft on the inside. Paired with a mild peanut sauce and a refreshing cucumber relish. The cucumber relish was not too sweet or sour. 2. Nuer Marakot - Never had this dish before, and learned that green curry has more of a kick. The beef was tender and flavorful. Eggplant and other vegetables in the dish were delicious. I appreciated the portion of this dish. 3. Sukho Thai Noodle - Loved all the flavor this soup noodle had to offer. It's sweet, sour, and just opens up your appetite. The roast pork was very crunchy. I can not speak to the ambiance or the service of Oraan, but when it comes to Thai food, this maybe hands down the best thai food I've experienced in the S.F./Bay Area. I will say I didn't find a curry on their menu, but the taste and spice of the noodle dish I had was DAMN good. The spice almost changed my life it was so good - It brought me to tears good. I usually like writing glowing reviews but in this case I have to say the food was just ok. With the high ratings, I decided to get out of the house and shlep two kids who would rather order take out to the restaurant, because food tastes better fresh and not soaking in plastic. So on a Friday evening around 6:30 we walked in and got a table for 4 by the window. Things were looking pretty good. We ordered the 1-Tom yum soup, 2-Gai Manow, 3-Pad see Yew, and the 4-Kapow Moo Krob. The soup was very strong tasting( it had a lot of base) and could use some more water. The Gai Manow was probably our favorite dish, the chicken was moist and crunchy on the outside and the lemon sauce wasn't overpowering. The Pad See Yew was ok, I wished I ordered the pad Thai instead. It was heavy on the soy sauce but lacked any good flavor. The Kapow was the pork belly that everyone online said was good, but it was a hit or miss if you got a tender piece or a hard piece. Overall the meal was about $100 with tip. read more

I am Thai and the food at Amphawa was by far the best Thai food I've ever had in the states!! - Crab papaya salad(som-tum-poo) is unbelievable. I'm craving for it right now. - Tom-Lued-Mhoo () is awesome. It made me think about Thailand. - Home-made seafood sauces is really great. I love it. This spot is up there for one of the best Thai spots in SF. It's also run by a family, and you can tell they really care about the quality of both the food and their service. Every dish we had was packed with flavor and consisted of delicious, high-quality ingredients. It was clear from every bite that the chefs put a lot of care and attention into the dishes served. One of the aunties told us that their cooking comes from a central region in Thailand, where the spice level lies somewhat in the middle of the North and South's. Personally, I found that the dishes we ordered did have a pleasant middle heat. We will 100% be coming back! read more

We ordered three of the most popular dishes, Gai Manow, Hor Mok Bai Tong, and Sukho Thai Noodle. The Gai Manow and Hor Mok were much too sweet, and lacked the flavor balance required for great Thai food, which is a combination of salty, sweet, spicy, sour, and creamy. I rate them two stars, and I would never order them again. The Sukho Thai Noodle, however, was excellent, so I added one more star. There are much better Thai restaurants in SF. read more

Best tom yum in San Francisco! I've tried 6 Thai restaurants and all have come up short, but Oraan has the PERFECT flavor balance for tom yum. Medium spicy is good if you want to enjoy the flavor without any burning, and Hot is perfect if you want to get the endorphins flowing. My only regret is that they don't deliver and I have to pay exorbitant DoorDash fees to get it all the way up to Nob Hill. read more

We ordered all appetizers and they were massive portions and delish! My partner and I dined here last evening, what a pleasant experience in service and flavors! The servers were attentive without hovering. We started with the fruit salad and were amazed by the complexity of flavor coupled with sweet and spicy finishes. They text you when your table is ready and got have about 5 minutes to get there. Right away I knew I wanted the Khao soi which I got with tofu. This was beyond delicious, but I wish they have more broth. I've had Khao soi before but it was a bit more broth which made the noodles less dry. Also I wish the tofu was cut into smaller cubes, the tofu wasn't very crispy which made it pretty bland and one dimensional. Other than that it was very good. The Thai tea was also good, not too sweet which was perfect. The duck breast curry had a similar taste to the Khao soi but the duck was one of the beast we had. Super moist and flavorful in the broth, definitely one of the best dishes of the night. Also the beef fried rice (Khao pad mun neur) was cooked well, my favorite was the flavor of the fried rice. Had a smoky wok flavor to it which made it addicting. The ambience was very nice my favorite was their music playlist. Was nostalgic and gave good vibes in the restaurant. Oraan Thai is a modern restaurant offering a creative take on Thai dishes with bold flavors! My favorite (and the most unusual) dish on the menu was the Gai Manow, a round, flat patty made of minced chicken coated and fried in a crispy panko batter, topped with a lemon cream sauce, and surrounded by crispy Chinese broccoli. This was unlike any other Thai dish I've had before and reminded me almost of Japanese Yoshoku ("Western food"), and the perfectly crispy chicken paired nicely with the lemon cream sauce. For our mains, the Moo Pik Kang were stewed pork ribs sautéed in an explosively spicy, aromatic red chili paste, mixed with coconut milk, bell peppers, fresh peppercorns, basil, and kaffir lime leaves. The Nuer Marakot was a juicy, sliced medium steak, topped with green curry and served over a mixture of bamboo, Thai eggplant, and carrots. Finally, the Pad Thai Kung Mae Nam was a generous portion of sweet, sour, and savory stir-fried rice noodles with egg, tofu, chives, bean sprouts, and crushed peanuts, served with two huge split and grilled river prawns. Though the noodles were chewy and undercooked, the prawns had a perfectly crispy texture and seafoody flavor, and the best part was (of course) the head! As a huge fan of Thai cuisine, I've been yearning for a new spot, especially since Farmhouse Thai is a bit challenging to reach from Marin. This newfound gem completely impressed our group of five.
