We got a group order for a small work party and it was fantastic! The hummus is soooo good. Coworkers enjoyed the beef/lamb skewers. Their pita is very very soft. Great texture and flavor. Everyone in the office enjoyed it. And it was a huge serving. The schnitzel was okay. Not much filling to pita ratio. I found it too bready. I got the side of hummus and bourekas. The hummus was a good amount. And it was dense. But I found the hummus to be too thick. And I didn't know it was going to be plain, so it didn't have much flavor. It was fine when I added some oil based salad dressing I had at work, but by itself, I didn't really care for it. I did eat some with the bourekas which wasn't too bad. Out of the two pastries, I liked the mushroom one more. It had more flavor with the earthiness of the mushrooms. The cheese one was bland. Not much cheese and too much dough. I kinda ate the inside and discarded the rest. Maybe I ordered the wrong things, but this just wasn't up my alley. Everything was rather tasteless. If it ever pops up again, I'll give it another go (and probably order something meat centric), but based on everything I ordered, I wasn't impressed. This place seems to be always crowded, but it's tasty so I guess it makes sense that it is. I came here for lunch with my cousin and everyone who served us was super nice and helpful, as it was our first time. After some recommendations, we split a sampler and I also ordered a rice bowl with beef. I've never really understood how good hummus could be until I tried this place. Everything was really amazing and flavorful. EVERYTHING! If I were to come back here, I'd probably try their other hummus options because there are so many, but definitely try the sampler if it's your first time and you don't know what to get! Oren's Hummus is a wonderful surprise to a pretty traditional middle-eastern food. Israeli spin is more selection, larger portions, and tapas servings!!! True to its name, Hummus is delicious. I picked Hummus with additional tahini which made it more creamy, and I would argue tastier as well. Pita bread was solid and thick, but warm which was a great combination with Hummus! Chicken and rice was tasty, with a note that rice was a bit dry...babaganoush was just great. Bourek was a nice surprise. I have tried Balkan and Turkish versions before and Israeli version is similar but smaller. Still pretty good All in all-I will be a frequent guest for time to come! read more

My company had a team lunch here during a busy week because of Dreamforce nearby. Despite this, our wait for a table of 9 was short, our server was nice and responsive, and even our meals arrived quickly! I had the chicken skewers which came with two sides or two dips, I did the hummus and tabouli. The chicken was crisp and juicy, and the hummus was savory and fresh, and the tabouli was bright and refreshing. Great portion sizes, and again, such great service. This might be my 50+th time coming to Orens during my many years living in SF because it is THAT good. Highly recommend this order when you're trying to be healthy but also want to *indulge* a little. Chicken Skewer Platter - comes with some of the most delicious, marinated kebab pieces you've ever had. You can pick any 2 sides to go with it. We got the Israeli salad (tomatoes, cucumbers) and falafel but I recommend making one of these sides a hummus if you're not ordering anything else. Jaffa Hummus - We usually get this one instead of the classic hummus because of the nuttier taste which makes it feel a little richer and yummier. But can't go wrong with either! French fries - nothing to report here, thick cut, lightly salted, and comes with ketchup. I wouldn't go out of your way to order these but we were craving fries. Pro tip: dip the fries here in the hummus. Years ago you used to be able to get their house condiments (red harissa, green spicy) for free but now they're 30c. It was good and filling, though I should have gotten the mozzarella and pesto (+$3) with it because it needed a bit more flavor. My mom ordered the Beef Skewer ($18.50) which came with two sides- which she got the Babaganoush Eggplant, falafel side, and also ordered an extra side, the Quick Fried Cauliflower florets ($7). The babaganoush eggplant and falafels were good, but the cauliflower was the true star. I Also, my mom and I both LOVED the whole wheat pita. It was so warm and soft and filling!! Yelp to the rescue again! Based on the reviews and pictures, I decided to try this restaurant. Although I have them only a three star review; I would return. Service: I have to give them a 3 for a few reasons. I asked for salt and pepper from our server and a passing server and did not get it for over 20 minutes! By then my food got cold and I was disappointed in the service. Food: I have to give them a 4 because most of the food was a little under spiced. The baba ganoush and the cauliflower bites both needed a little salt and pepper. However, the chicken kabob was one of the most tender kabobs I've ever had. They also make gluten free pita, although it was gluten free I felts like it was lacking flavor too. It's exciting that they offer GF pita but perhaps a little salt would make it tastier. Ohhh and the dessert...the baklava and babka were something I would return to the restaurant to purchase on any given day. Unbelievably moist, tasty and just the right amount of sweet. Super yummy Mediterranean food! We came as a big group and tried a lot of their hummus varieties (they have so many!) and my favorite was the lamb hummus, it was so fresh and flavorful, and paired really well with their fresh pita. For the main I got the chicken rice bowl which was also really tasty and usually I'm not a huge fan of tahini but here it was really good. For dessert we tried the baklava, chocolate babka, and malabi. The baklava was incredible, fresh, crunchy, and most importantly not too sweet. The babka was also amazing and fluffy. Take everything you know about hummus and just chuck it out the window. A hummus bowl is actually just exactly that. A bowl of delish, creamy hummus topped with the meat or veggie of your choice. I got mine with sautéed ground beef. It was delicious and really filling. The pita bread for the table was warm and tasted super fresh. I had to stop myself from eating more than 2 pieces. I came here with a pretty big group and know everyone else enjoyed what they got. They have other dishes besides the hummus bowls (rice bowls, salads, etc.) if that just isn't your thing. They have a to go section for people that are just looking to grab food and go but after you walk through that and into the sit down part of the restaurant you'll actually be blown away. The dining area is really spacious, good for groups and has just beautifully decorated. Huge crystal chandeliers aren't usually what you expect in your average lunch spot in FiDi. Came here with some coworkers during restaurant week and it was great bang for buck!!! I've been here a couple of times and food was delicious as per usual. My favorite is the traditional shashuka. I would also highly recommend the hummus lamb as well. The greek salad, labane, and hummus jaffa were great as well but not mind blowing. read more

Funny that I just tried Oren's down in Palo Alto the week before for the first time. I liked it even though making hummus the centerpiece of a restaurant struck me as a bit of a stretch. I don't mind as I love hummus and keep pretending it's a low-calorie protein option despite the exorbitant amount of tahini and olive oil that goes into it. I came in really early for supper, around 4:30PM, so there were barely any customers. It's a cavernous space, much bigger than the one in Palo Alto. What struck me was the number of staff running around since most of them appeared to be in training. As a result, I was getting way more attention than I was expecting, and I really wasn't planning to have a full dinner. Excluding the complimentary Cabbage Salad (photo http://bit.ly/2mYDCJf), which was like Middle Eastern banchan, I went for three of their side portions for $12.50, a pretty good deal, starting with their Small Hummus (photo: http://bit.ly/2M5SFfg). Very creamy and packed with puréed chickpeas though carrying more olive oil than I was hoping. It came with a pita bread and I went for the Whole Wheat - fluffy, tasty, and probably more carbs than I deserved. Came here for opening day lunch with my team! We really liked the restaurant, very clean and polite servers. We ordered the sampler plate, the cauliflower hummus and the Israeli salad with chicken on top. We had a really nice variety of dips and the pita's were huge! The hummus was great and the salad was yummy. The manager (I think his name was Natan) came over to our table to check on us and was a really friendly and happy guy. We've ordered twice in the last few days from Oren's. I love Oren's but this will be my last time ordering. Both times they forgot the hot sauces. While this might seem minor, the hot sauces are so good (they even sell them separately) and make the dishes for us. Came here for lunch for the second time in the past year. We like their food and convenient location to the W hotel. This time she had the braised lamb shoulder hummus and omg! They only offer it on weekends and I can see why. It was the bomb! Wish there had been more of it. I had the chicken pita stuffed with goodies. For dessert we had the baklava, which was super fresh and I enjoyed the muddy and rich Turkish coffee. She had the Americano and it was very good too. Quick friendly service. We ordered the sampler dish so we could try many things. It was good but instead of the beets and carrots I would have preferred having more dips to try. If you are wanting more dipping and pita like me, I would recommend exploring the menu for other options. We ended up ordering a separate bowl of hummus afterwards which was awesome. That said, everything was delicious and I really wanted to go back there again in the span of two days. Their whole wheat pita was probably the best I have had in a long time. Service was great and the waitress was very nice, she went above and beyond explaining everything about the meal to us. Hummus is often relegated as a grocery store side, so it's nice to see it star as the main dish. With an extremely hummus (and adjacent dips) centric menu, it's quite apparent what you need to order. I opted for the main entree plate of hummus since it seemed more novel than a sandwich or a dip. The main entree plate is indeed a great way to break hummus stereotypes. Pickled Cabbage: Comes for free at the table. Was hoping this would either taste like kimchi or like sauerkraut. Unfortunately, it tasted like wilted coleslaw. Not a huge fan, though it was useful to cleanse the tahini off the palate between hummus bites. Hummus Lamb: This was simply delicious. I'm not a huge fan of refrigerator-cold hummus, which is all too common in the U.S. Something about this warm fluffy hummus just rocked my world. The lamb chunks were tender and full of flavor, a perfect complement to the mellow pureed chickpeas. Even better when scooped on some pita bread and topped with green harissa. Pitas: These are definitely *not* those sorry pita frisbees you get from a bag. They were super fluffy, but you can still split them in the middle. Nice and sturdy for getting a lot of hummus on to each torn off piece. Falafels: Tiny, yet delicious. Perfectly crunchy exterior with soft and grainy inside. Why not eat chickpeas with your chickpeas? Lemonade: Probably the only truly disappointing item I paid for. It was overly tart with way too much ice. We were at Yerba Buena Gardens listening to the Thursday concert and wanted something to eat afterward. We happened upon Oren's Hummus and what a find! I LOVE hummus, but time and time again have always said, "I can make it better than this..." But Oren's Hummus is THE BEST! Smooth, garicky, with just the right amount of lemon tang. My partner had the falafel pita sandwich and it was delicious. And I highly recommend the mint lemonade. It is so lemony puckering and the mint is deicious. For the next 30 mins more people were arriving and due to host's absence that very waiter had to manage the whole restaurant and both get the guests seated, take orders, serve, and charge. Who says you can't eat well on a low carb diet? My friend and I ate here a few nights ago and I was really happy to see several low carb options for me. I ordered the Beef Kebab with the Baba Ghanoush and Labane for my sides. I told the server to hold the bread and was given sliced cucumber and carrots in place of the bread for my dips. I've had their bread here in the past and it is wonderful. It comes out warm and soft, and perfect for dipping. The Beef Kebab dish came with 4 pieces of meat. Slather some Labane and their Hot Green Harissa sauce on the beef and you will have one delicious bite. I love how thick and well seasoned with the Za'atar the Labane is. So luscious. It also helped tame the heat from the green sauce. The beef is a little dry but the labane made it all good. I also love their smoky Baba Ghanoush! So tasty. I can just eat it by itself but it was nice atop a cucumber slice. In the past I've had the Hummus with Lamb (a must order), Chicken Kebab and the Quick Fried Cauliflower Florets (great low carb option). My friend loves that Cauliflower dish. I like it too. My friends and I came here for dinner and I decided to get the beef keebab, which came with two sides, of which I chose hummus and babaganoush. They meal comes with a small cole-slaw like salad at the beginning which was delicious. I loved both the hummus and the babaganoush. The hummus was rich flavored, creamy and overall very pleasant. The babaganoush had a garlicky taste that went really well with the eggplant, and served as a nice counterbalance to the hummus. The rest of the food though was quite disappointing. The beef kebabs were really dry, and kind of hard in places. It no longer had that nice juicy taste I usually expect from the kebabs, it was just dry. The pita bread was okay, it was warm but it was missing a nice soft fluffy texture. Overall an okay choice, and decently priced, but not my favorite place for hummus and pita bread. read more

I made the mistake of coming during the prime lunch rush and waited about 20 mins to order and another 20 for my food to come out. I went with the Beef Hummus, which came with 2 fluffy soft pita.
