After we showed him that he charged us for one extra dessert he still argued he was right and it was the machine that calculated the order. He doesn't realize he inputted the wrong data. My favorite Magoo's restaurant was in Waikiki on Kalākaua Ave. I work at the Hilton hotel and every time I would be craving for Magoo's pizza after work. My favorite pizza was the combo pizza. I like their sauce and all the different kinds of cheese and flaky crust. My second Magoo's choice would be the one on University Avenue. So glad they are back! Their giant combo pizza is still my favorite. Huge, square pieces, and a flavorful sauce with tons of toppings on a thin, slightly chewy bottom crust and crispy cracker-like edge crust. I can't decide if I prefer the middle pieces or the edge pieces, both are great. They re-opened a few years back off of Kapahulu, but have moved up to Kaimuku where Happy Days, Big City Diner, and Maguro-Ya are located. Parking can be a challenge so always go with someone to pick up your pizza in case you can't find a space. The parking lot does have a 15 min grace period so that helps. We always freeze the leftovers so we are never out of pizza! read more

2nd time here and we'll worth the drive from the west side! Bruddah Parker showed us aloha right from the start and took great care of us. Bruddah Kekoa took care of us as well and even came up and poured our wine when we were running low. As always the pizza is awesome and tastes just like I remember it as a kid! Was in the area so I placed order online and paid with credit card. Order was ready faster than expected time. It's basically one building away from Kapahulu Avenue. They keep 3 parking stalls open for pickup but I unfortunately parked across the street against a chain link fenced vacant lot (the empty lot is kinda ghetto). I sat in my car waiting for the email notification that my pizza was ready. Then I ran into the store to get my pizza and Caesar salad to go. There is no indoor or outdoor seating. Take out only. As far as the pizza, hubby (huge Magoos fan) swears it's the best on the island and tastes like the original recipe. I tasted it but can't recall how the original was. It was good, but I can't say it's the best...only because I no longer eat cheese on my pizza, so my taste buds are warped. The salad was basic good portion, ran out of dressing though so had to bust out my own. our best pizza place... 6/8 11am we made reservations for 6/8 for 5:45 PM. I called 1 hour before just to confirm my reservations. Whomever answered said they are closed. Being surprised, I thought to myself if I didnt make this call we would have driven from central oahu to Kaimuki only to find a closed establishment. A definite disappointment I remember growing up eating Magoo when they were next to Mr. sub and pucks Alley and then also when they had moved to a food truck next to McDonald's on King Street I even went to the Magoos in Kapahulu where you had to park next to the fence under the trees is always been a great experience until I went to this spot. Took my grandkids for dinner on Saturday night since they wanted pizza. Hadn't eaten at a Magoo's since they operated out of trailer on Wilder ave in the 70s. Glad we gave them a try since it was a very good experience with delicious pizza. The pepperoni and mushroom pizza was great. Perfect crust and seasoning. I'm probably dating myself, but I used to eat Magoo's weekly when I was a kid. There was an Aiea location, one by the old Navy Exchange... Just the SMELL of their cheese as you walked by was enough to set my glands to drool. Magoo's has come & go a few times since little kid times,. It looks like they've made another comeback! I found out through one my friends on Instagram. It was their grand opening a few months ago, so we tried it. Needless to say, I wanted to give them another try before reviewing. It wasn't bad, but the service and wait was what you'd expect after long hiatus. Round Two: we ended up going in on a Monday night. We tried calling in an order, but we got the message that if "you get this message, we are busy." No problem! You can order online. You can pick to get it ASAP or schedule a time. We placed, schedules, & paid for our order. As we got close to pick up time, we got a phone call that our order was ready to pick up. Awesome! We drive over the Pali & got there in about 20 minutes. We scored a parking stall in front of the store. There was only one person in the store when I picked up. I did have to wait because he was on the phone. After about 5 minutes, he was able to help me. My pizza was in a warmer bag to keep the temp hot. Fast forward 20 minutes later, we were able to sit down & eat. It was delicious! Was it everything I remember? No, but I'm old. Was the pizza delicious? Heck YES! The cheese, the crust, the smell. All of it was just an experience! We happened to be driving back to Waimanalo from Kaimuki on a Sunday, and I saw they were open. I didn't tell my kids we were eating there - they never ate Magoos before - so I said....no worry, Mommy going feed you good food! We walked in from the parking lot side into a really nice setup! And yes!!! Giant Potpourri Pizza like the old days!! We ordered garlic fries and the pizza....garlic fries were beyond awesome!! Crunchy, salty, garlicky, gushy...2 days later still good. And Pizza....if you remember from old kid days when they were in Aiea. it's literally the same! The best part was the employees....its the best thing ever when the cook comes out to bring the food! You can tell he was very proud of his work and we even got the pizza delivered by him!! Christopher was beyond awesome....after we left, my son told me, "Mom, those were the chillest people I've ever met, I really like it there." If you go for lunch....call in and they can start the order to be ready when you get there. Also, if you're Vegan, they have a very extensive Vegan menu, to include dessert! If you know the original Magoo's, then not much to say because it's exactly the same as the old Magoo's. Best pizza on the island in my opinion. I also love the hot ham and mushroom sub. It's uncanny how they can get it to taste the same. The staff is super nice. You place your order and they will give you and est time and even call you when it's ready. There are a few parking spots in front or there's always a few spots open along the fence surrounding the open lot across the street. Nearly 15 years have passed and Magoo's 2.0 the Reboot has premiered. Yes it delivers on the promised nostalgia but it's passé. The food world has moved on. Coal fired, wood fired, 600F, 900F ovens churning out NYC style, Neapolitan, Roman, Chitown, Detroit, even the fresh and vibrant Cali style. Blah sums it up. Breaking it down ("Magoo's Famous Combo Pizza"): Crust - thin but not cracker crisp nor as chewy as a classic NYC pie. No charring on the underside. Sauce - not the basic crushed tomatoes rather a reduced, seasoned and sweetened sauce ie sweet ketchup. Toppings - excessive, as thick as the crust, adding to the limpness of a slice. Fresh peppers and mushrooms, canned olives, pepperoni and pork sausage are not natural (taste of preservatives), processed cheese. Prices are not nostalgic. $36 after tax and tip for the 16", so 2020. Based on other reviews, I got lucky with the service with the online ordered pizza ready when promised. NO HU HU Call MAGOOS!! Finally came here last Wednesday since they opened, and called in our order. They said it was about a 45 min wait, but we actually wanted ours for 2 hours later. They had no problem accommodating us and When we arrived to pickup it just came out from the oven. Worker who took our order was VERY friendly. We ordered a large original combo, a baby cheese for my 3yr old, and a 12 piece Buffalo wings. After arriving home which was about an hour from our pickup, our food was surprisingly still warm. It was just like a remembered from many many years ago. The sausages on the combo was always my favorite and it wasn't any different. Their cheese is still the one thing that made them different from others. My son loved his baby cheese pizza by showing us a 2 thumbs up. The Buffalo wings were pretty big sized drummettes. The workers were all friendly and courteous. The shop is located on Winam ave right off of kapahulu, and it's a small clean retro place. Parking looked very limited, about 3 stalls in front of shop, but it was empty when we came. Can't wait to comeback and hopefully eat it fresh out of oven. I'm a Huge Fan of Magoo's Pizza. It is my favorite pizza of all time They closed down for many years. And to find out that they are returning is a dream come true...My wife and 8 year old daughter can savor the experience and tast the Magoo's Pizza for the very 1st time. Placed 2 online order on their 1st day of opening at 1620 hrs. I was instructed to come back at 1845 hrs. I knew its their 1st day and it will be super crazy in the kitchen. There are only 3 stalls in front for customers to park. Came back at 1845hrs. and only my 1st order was ready. My second order was nowhere to be found. So I had to wait another 20 minutes for my 2nd order. When I got home and opened up my 2nd pizza box and noticed that my pizza was incorrectly made. I immediately emailed the Owner and she apologized and told me to let her know when I wanted my replacement pizza. I ordered my replacement pizza on my brother's birthday along with another pizza, 24 Buffalo Bleu Cheese Wings and 2 Chicken Dinner's. Once again my 2nd replacement pizza was never made so I had to wait for another 20 minutes for it to be made. The staff was clueless about my replacement pizza order and the owner had to explain to them that she email my replacement order in. Anyways she felt bad and hooked my brither up with an Ice cream Cookie Sandwich. When I got home and opened the chicken wing box. I was shorted 12 Buffalo Bleu Cheese Wings. I grew up eating Magoo's pizza; I mean, who hasn't eaten Magoo's at least once if you're from here. I'm just so happy that they decided to open this place up, and the timing couldn't have been better. Parking- It's a problem; they only have three spaces in the front. They also tell you not to park if your order isn't ready. I usually go either when they first open up or at an odd time. Customer Service- The girls that are there are really nice and friendly. Pizza- I ordered a large combo, but I highly suggest paying extra $$ for the roasted garlic if you love garlic. I have to give a shout out to @Authentically Charles, who does vlogs and posts them on YouTube for this suggestion. When you look at it, you might think that there's not enough garlic, but trust me, they put just the right amount. Otherwise, you'll have that overpowering garlic taste, and then you won't be able to taste anything else. I love the crust on this pizza. It's not too thick but just right. I also have a trick for reheating the pizza the next day, pan fry it, the bottom will come out crispy. I'm hoping they expand and open one up on the westside. read more

Worked at the 9th Avenue and Makiki Shopping Village Magoo's in the early to mid-80s. The pizza is just as I remember it especially the crust. We took special care making that when I was an employee as well as the pizza sauce. Kudos Magoo's. The oven roasted chicken we made I remember it being a lot oilier which was great. I mean it would friggin' drip grease but back in the 80s no one cared about high cholesterol or heart disease! LOL. The chicken tonight from the Original Magoo's was perfect! You know, in Hawai'i if you are going to reintroduce a beloved brand you better dang well do it right and right out of the gate. Magoo's is doing it right and I think that's because Gilbert Sakaguchi now in his 70s is still in the game! Super kudos for taking a leap of faith and opening a new old time fav given the current pandemic environment! Also note: It was super busy tonight 3OCT20 being day two. We called in our order at 4:30PM for a 7:00PM pickup. We were called by Magoo's staff and advised to come at 7:30PM. Our food was waiting for us when we arrived. As with any eatery just opening especially one like Magoo's with huge legions of die hard fans please be patient, call in your orders and I would advise not attempting walk-in during peak times for a week or two. I remember going to Magoo's when I was a kid. That surfing logo is da bomb. Dining at their Kaimuki restaurant was nice. They had two guys singing Hawaiian music which is something hard to find. We saw people go up and hula and that was cool. One thing we didn't care for was a lady came around and solicited plastic flowers and told us we need to buy it. That spoiled the evening as she was fairly pushy and kept approaching us even after we said we are not interested. I dont know if she was part of the two guys singing or just a customer but the workers saw her and didnt do anything so we ended our evening short. Music and beer in Kaimuki! The pizza was ok. Again the atmosphere with the local guys singing was cool. Just that lady pushing us to buy $5 fake flowers led us to end our dinner early and the theee stars. She even followed us outside. Sheesh. Much of my childhood was spent hearing my mom hype up Magoo's (it's even one of my cousins' nicknames) and my dad complain about how it's worse than New York pizza. Although I've said before that Magoo's isn't necessarily my favorite style of pizza, especially since, having taken my dad's advice, I've tried pizza throughout Brooklyn, if anything just because of how excited my mom and grandparents were to try Magoo's again I think I get the hype. We tried ordering the day they opened, but noticed that, just about an hour after opening they were no longer taking orders. We ordered the week after their opening and waited over two hours for the pizza (I, for one, enjoy waiting for food and getting excited for it), finding a surprising number of cars and people waiting many of whom, my mom noted, were her age and raving about their nostalgia for the pizza. After bringing it back to my grandma's house, we tried our potpourri large and combo giant pizza, plus chicken wings which easily fed our group of six. The chicken was nice and crispy, juicy meat, not exceptional but definitely tasty. The pizza was delicious, very unique if anything. The sauce is kind of a mix of barbecue and tomato sauce. My mom noted that it tasted the exact same as she remembered. The cheese is gloopy and the toppings are very generous--so many vegetables that it felt healthy. They were tasty too, my brother who typically picks out mushrooms ate his. I preferred the square pizza where all the toppings were mixed--I think Magoo's is known for the square pizzas. The dough was definitely different from pizzas I've had elsewhere, with a crunchy, toasty crust and a bready, doughy texture of the not-crust part. Overall a very tasty meal, and I'm glad I got to hear my mom reminisce about the days before multinational pizza corporations in Honolulu. I was nervous about online ordering after reading the reviews but decided to try it anyway. So glad I did. I placed the order at 5:10pm and got an email at 5:13pm saying it would be ready at 5:30-6pm and to wait for email that it is ready to pick up. At 5:30pm, I got a call and an email saying it was ready! Good thing I was already heading over there as soon as I placed the order. The parking was full so I had to go around the block several times. When I finally got a space, they brought my order right out. So within 30 minutes of ordering, I had my food! This was AWESOME!!! The pizza was delicious! Brought back so many of memories. The fried chicken was better than finger licking good. The fries, corn, and coleslaw were very good. I grew up eating pizza from this local-owned pizzeria since the 70's. Always remembered the jingle 'No hu-hu!, Call Magoo's'. Always tasty. In early 2000's, I got introduced to their hot sandwiches, specifically their Hot Chicken Sub which I got from their truck at the gas station on King @ Wiliwili. So massively filled with hot pieces of chicken with cheese and bbq mixed sauce. So damn ono!! So the other day my better half mentions there's a Magoo's again (I had thought they closed shop after the truck) and we go in search of my pizza nostalgia, We find their Waialae place to be a cozy eatery. Grab the menu and I'm saddened to see the Chicken Sandwich is NOT on the menu. Melanie (our awesome server and family relations to the owners) came and listened to my sad story about not being able to eat my favorite chicken sandwich. She walked away into the kitchen and came back saying that my Hot Chicken Sub was cooking! My jaw dropped in excitement and happiness! Melanie simply said, 'No hu-hu, right!?' We were wanting to grab a quick pizza to go and thought we'd give this place (in its new location in Kaimuki) a try. Ordered a large combo pizza (the one they are most known for) and 8 seasoned wings. It was easy to order online, was made quickly, and service was very friendly when we went to pick it up. The pizza was pretty good. Well covered in ingredients (pepperoni, sausage, peppers, black olives, and mushrooms) and the crust is quite unique - almost like a laminated cracker, some layers soft, some crispy. Not fluffy and thick like a classic American, but thicker than a NY or Sicilian. The price sounded a bit high ($27 for a large) but honestly, it was a lot of pizza and we had half leftover. The wings were cooked well and had a nice seasoning. I like mine a bit crispier but we also did takeout so that's a bit unfair. There was lots of table space inside if you're looking to dine in. Picked up food and had a great experience with Parker (like spider man he says). It's a new restaurant so everything is nice, new and super clean. Nice ambiance, music, tv, a bar, even pac man arcade game lol. We got pizza, wings, sub, salad and dessert. The service though is what really stands out. I hope they make Parker a manager because he sells it GOOD. I hate ham but he's got me wanting to try it. LOL. I'm pretty sure he can sell a pen.
