No long review here. Just simply leaving a rating of 2 stars. Food was alright. You pay $44 for buffet and that's the type of food quality to expect. Nothing special. Dinner was at 7pm. Prime rib looked like its been sitting for a while because the fat was already cold and white. Fresh prime rib came out at around 845. Shrimp and veggie tempura was good. Crab legs goes fast and was replenished just as quickly as it went. all the other fillers like noodles, mash, roast beef, stir fried veggies, clams, mussels were alright. They did have a variety of desserts and a hand full of frozen ice cream. Our server was excellent, friendly and prompt! If it wasn't for him, I may have given this place a one star. read more

Just went there for my birthday. The food was great & the service was excellent. Everyone was so nice & helpful. There was a coupon special for the month so we all got the buffet with the crab but the crab boil also looked good. The food on the buffet line is served. Wow! I'd have to say that, all things considered, this is our family's new favorite Sunday brunch. Great food, pleasant service, beautiful setting, easy to get seated or make reservations and very simple parking options. What more can a local family with young kids ask for? The food was a solid four stars (my favorites were the poke, crab legs, and the eggs Florentine) but what earned the fifth star was the koi pond! For about 30 minutes after our meal, my kids and I fed the koi (kids receive a free small cup of fish food!) and discovered other varieties of fish as well as turtles and frogs. What an experience. As far as the restaurant setting, as other reviews noted, this is less of a tourist attraction and more of a no-nonsense place for local families to enjoy a meal. I looked around and didn't see any customers that were obvious tourists....the exception being at my own table with my mainlander parents with us. If I had to nit-pick, I will notionally subtract one star due to the 'misinformation' on the restaurant's website that provides only expired 20% coupons (i.e. the current date was 23 Oct but the posted coupon has an expiration date of 31 Aug. Really? So where can I get a current coupon if even your own website doesn't have a current one?) With 6 people eating, we could have saved a considerable amount of money had we been able to find the proper coupon. Anyway, Pagoda's is a winner in our book. We'll be back! read more

I am generally not a fan of buffets. But the Pagoda Floating Restaurant was a great surprise. I went on a Sunday, my friend's choice. It was her birthday weekend so I couldn't say no. The buffet is about $36 for adults and $18 for children. The manager allowed me to pay the kids price after my friend explained that I can physically eat only very small portions of food. (I carry a card stating this from my doctor.) I really appreciate the gesture because they don't have to allow it. The quality of the food was impressive. There is a decent selection of food. Omelet station, prime rib, steamed crab, assortment of poke, breakfast items, and desserts. I sampled the crab legs, prime rib, steamed fish, brisket, poached egg. Everything was delicious and cooked perfectly with the exception of the brisket that was dry and tough. I tried their custard pie but it was too sweet and not eggy enough for me. The employees were accommodating. We did not have a reservation and wanted to sit at window, they just let us know when they were expecting the group who was assigned to it. They secured a door with a sign instructing people not to use it and go through main enter an early because they noticed the gush of cold wind coming through the doorway bothered me each time a customer ignored the sign. We were there around 11 am on a Sunday. It wasn't very busy, very quiet and comfortable. I didn't like that no utensils were provided to open the crab and we had to ask. However the waitress willingly searched for one of those things used to cut the shell and dig out the meat, All in all it was a pleasant experience and the birthday girl was very happy. I hate to give this place a 2 star review only because I've been here several times before and enjoyed it enough where food was OK. My family and I (Party of 11) came here for Mother's Day brunch. Staff was great and friendly, seated us quickly, at the ballroom side of the restaurant. So why the 2 stars? Food was OK, nothing special. Prime rib & crab legs was probably why we paid the price we did. Presentation was terrible! The sashimi was cut oddly and scattered all over the platter, sushi platter as they refilled it, they literally just dumped the new batch right on top of the previous one not even moving some on the side for it to look decent at the least. The french toast was stuck to the pan so much that trying to get a slice left you with crumbled pieces. It took some time before they replenished the food. There was this one time someone brought out the tempura dish and just left it on top of the heating pans, not properly in the heating pans itself. Oh, and they ran out of plates. Buffet style, we had to keep going back with our same plates (which actually, I dont mind). I guess my expectations were a little too high for a place like this but they could've done so much better for Mother's Day. Great buffet to go to, selection is quite interesting. You get your fair share of meats, and seafoods, quiet area, great waiters, dessert bar was packed with ice cream sandwiches, drumsticks, otterpops, love the slider area, also loved the idea of chip bags, food was pretty good, went here for a reception, only issue would be the smell of the koi fish/pond all around the restaurant, once you're inside you definitely get passed the smell. Tons of koi fish everywhere which was a cool add on to the restaurant. You can also feed them for a dollar. Enjoyed the views at night. Easy parking on the side. Family friendly place to go to. We all know Pagoda's restaurant, we've been there for weddings and other family events throughout the years. It's that local family favorite place to go. And, like everyone else, I've been there often and for me, the quality seems to change a lot year to year. I haven't been there for quite awhile so it came as a surprise that I received a call that relatives from the mainland were going to be in town and we were going to have lunch on a Saturday at the Pagoda. I checked and pricing was $17.95 but my relative called and said there was an early bird special of 20% off on their website if we were seated before 11:30...can't beat that! And why is it cheap? No crab! (this was the Saturday buffet, not the Sunday one) lol I got there early and decided I would park in the front where there's a small double decked parking lot in the corner. You pay at a machine at the front of the lot at the end of the ramp and leave the ticket on your dash. Very reasonable, it was a $1 for 2 hours. Another option is to park in the back at the structure by Ross's. One relative said she just parked on the street. The restaurant was packed today, it's a good thing we had reservations. In fact, they asked us if we wanted one of those private floating "rooms" instead of dining in the main room...that's how crowded they were. We settled in and hit the buffet line (so we could get ahead of the crowd). The first thing I do is to "scope out" the buffet. How is it organized? What looks good? What looks bad? Let's make choices here people, we have to plan our strategy! You walk past this huge Doraemon statue (it's a blue cat from a Japanese cartoon) and the first long table has the fixings for salad, also potato salad, namasu, kim chee, etc., kind of like a salad bar. At the end, it has Chinese chicken salad and tofu salad. Next table over has cold appetizer/side dishes like, lomi lomi salmon, Korean beansprouts, Korean glass noodles, mussels, poke, somen, etc. Next table over has white rice, fried rice, fried noodles (yakisoba), sauteed veggies & some kind of fish, i think it was prepared Chinese style with a light shoyu sauce, green onions & Chinese parsley. The next table had teriyaki chicken, fried fish, sweet sour pork and black bean clams. Right past that, there was a station where you could make your own pho. Decided I would go healthy...haha, right! Ok, I wanted to at least try. Got some salad greens, and a little of the other salad stuff for my first plate, a mussel, some poke, some chicken salad and tofu salad. I kept thinking to myself, don't go overboard, just take a little bit. Salad and appetizers are pretty basic, so taste was pretty much there....nothing unexpected. Second plate consisted of rice, some sauteed veggies, yakisoba, teri chicken, steamed fish and fried fish, clams, and sweet sour pork. Again, pretty basic stuff so they were OK. I thought that would be enough for now so I sat back and watched the other people eat. I was told that the pho from the pho station was pretty good. I decided I would do dessert instead. There was custard pie, pecan tart, chocolate cake, almond float, zenzai, soft serve with stuff to put on top and to my surprise, you could open a freezer to take ice cream treats like an ice cream sandwich or drumstick (I thought it was for the restaurant to store stuff inside...lol). My verdict? A lot of the choices available were pretty basic local stuff so it's pretty hard to mess up. Some things were a little on the salty side but majority were OK. Service was good and they kept on refilling the food. Service at our table was excellent with the waitress refilling our water or coffee or iced tea. Everyone one at our table seemed to enjoy the food as they filled up several plates, as did the people on the surrounding tables. The atmosphere is comfortable though it can be loud. The pond with the koi is a nice distraction, especially for the kids. It's a good value for the price and with the discount, it was even better. It's not the best restaurant nor is it the best buffet but locals love it! read more

Everytime I'm with my brother Dustin, I just turn into a giant cow lol. He wanted to eat crab legs for some reason. So we googled seafood places with AYCE crab legs. Pagoda came in. It's around $44+ a person for their dinner buffet. It's nice because they have different selections for everyone. They had salad, local pupu's (poke), dinner entrees, japanese tempura, sushi, prime rib, crab legs and steak. Food was great.I really liked the sheet of salmon they had. YUM. I pigged out on their Poke and crab legs. #NoRegrets We made the mistake of coming on a sunday w/o reservations around 6:30. Lucky for us, someone missed their reservation so we were able to get in w/o waiting. Parking - I found street parking. But I read reviews where there's a lot people parked in. I couldn't find it for the life of me. But I found parking on Rycroft St, and since it's the weekend we didn't have to pay! Service is alright. The servers are handling large sections, so when you ask for a drink or extra napkins (why so stingy?) it doesn't come for a while. I was born and raised here and my wife is from Las Vegas. I have always bragged that Pagoda rivals the Las Vegas Buffets. I know it doesnt, but I like to hype up Hawaii. So we get there about 7:30pm and everything is fine. My wife goes to grab some prime rib and then comes back to the table and says that she seen a cat by the carving station. I did not believe her at first. So I went to check it out. As I got to the carving station I seen what could have been a cat run outside the door that was cracked open. I thought it was a rat. So I immediately went up to the manager and told him that I think I saw I rat. He tells me. Thats not a rat. Thats a stray cat that they have been trying to catch for the past couple days. And that bugga is fast. I could not believe he said that. Its not as bad as a rat. But cats eat rats. I was completely grossed out. And my wife was literally about to vomit when he said that. I did not want to make a scene and embarrass my wife. So I asked the manager for my check and told him I was disgusted and was leaving, He told me, "What Braddah, you no more pets at home. Its the same thing if you was cooking and they wondering around." If my wife was not there I would have thrown him in the pond. He should be fired and I will NEVER eat there again. I had dinner with my family, which was a very large group. They were able to accommodate our large group without much notice. The restaurant is surrounded by a Koi pond and has separate dining "rooms" outside the perimeter of the restaurant for a more private setting. Unfortunately, the food wasn't spectacular. Then again, buffets other than those in Vegas are usually average and this place met the expectation. It was reasonably priced for a buffet dinner in Honolulu. The staff was on point. They were always available to meet any of our needs and was quick to clear our tables. The manager was incredibly helpful in reserving a space for our group and even offered us one of the private rooms without the fee. Staff is great - food is meh. read more

I've been coming here all the time with my family ever since I was a little girl & years of coming here, means I got all the lessons needed to know how to open/crack crab legs without any of the crackers they give you. (whoop whoop!) We came here last Saturday for my grandma's birthday. She loves coming here for the prime rib and crab legs, so we've kinda made it a tradition where I would bring her here for her birthday. This year was different though...with things that came up, she hasn't had much time to see the whole family cause she's always tending to my brother who got into an accident, so I decided to invite the family to accompany us to celebrate her birthday as a surprise. Making reservations for a party of 41 of us wasn't so bad. Tried to do it online, but noticed that I could only reserve for up to 20 people so I figured that I'd just call them, which I did on Monday. I figure that I call early so their reservations don't fill up. I called them on Monday, which I didn't know they were closed and ended up waiting til the next morning to do so & they took it down. Finally, Saturday comes and we were seated right next to the buffet line which could be a good and bad thing. Good cause we're RIGHT there & I like the fact that we were able to see when they brought out a new batch of crab legs, and bad cause of course...everyone else in the restaurant gets a chance to see you with your mouth full. But the buffet line has a variety of poke, sea food, asian food, a sushi bar where its made when you order it, prime rib and CRAB LEGS! *DROOL* The two guys that were our waiters were very attentive by always refilling our drinks, and taking away our plates. One of the guys has been working there forever and he always takes care! I can never remember his name, but he seems to always be working whenever we go there. If I'm ever craving for tons of crab legs, this will be the first place I'd think of. The only thing that bummed me out was the fact that they didn't have their ice cream anymore! Have not been to the Pagoda for at least 20 yrs and for some odd reason kind of forgot they were even there. A co-worker invited my husband and I to breakfast last week Sunday morning. Needless to say, the food was awesome. I had the homemade corned beef hash and eggs. The hash was crispy and yummy. OMG it rocked. Then I realized my husband had been silent and that meant only one thing. The peanut butter and banana french toast he was having must have been delicious. Sure enough, I look over and his plate was clean -- totally clean. He inhaled it. At this point and I don't know why I did this, I said would you like to try the corned beef hash and he goes okay. Next thing I knew, he moved my plate in front of him and his empty was sitting in front of me lol Sometimes the best thing about eating with my husband is watching him enjoy his food. He's so cute and silent. We had breakfast there at 8:30am on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded but as we were leaving more people were coming in As we were leaving my husband told me if he had to rate what we had for breakfast, he would give his Peanut Butter & Banana French Toast 5 stars (best) and my corned beef hash 4.5. I never got to sample his breakfast because it was gone in a flash so I would give my corned beef hash 5 stars We both want to come back here again and hopefully soon! read more

This is an over due review for our Mother's day brunch. I should start by saying that it's been a least 7 years since the last time I've been to Pagoda's. Our party of 10 checked in at 11:30am and we're seated right away (luckily I made reservations in advanced.) We were seated right next to the food which was very convenient. FOOD - They served a variety of food for the Mother's day menu. My go-to was the prime rib, crab and dessert. Of course I wanted to eat my money's worth. LOL. The staff refilled the crab multiple times during our meal. The prime rib was average. In my opinion, it could have been seasoned a little better, but the au ju and horse radish helped. Other menu items were poke, oysters, salmon, waffle, breakfast items, cakes, fruits, ice cream, etc. Most items tasted okay, not the best I ever had, but not bad. My whole family found something they liked, including my 2 year old who is a picky eater. The dessert station was decent. My favorite part was the freezer with a variety of ice cream. SERVICE - All the workers were so nice! They seemed to genuinely care about servicing the customers. Our drinks were always refilled right away which is one of my pet peeves. VENUE - The restaurant itself is very old. I remember coming to parties at this location in the 90's and it still looks the same. They could redecorate, but that's not big of a deal to me. It seemed clean. The fish pond is also still the same. We enjoyed taking photos outside after our meal. I would have to conclude this review by saying that Pagoda is a good deal. My mom wanted to come here for her birthday. It has definitely improved. Apparently they have a new chef who tries a variety of foods. They even have kamaaina, senior discounts and a free meal for the birthday recipient. Our waitress "Joy," was friendly, nice and attentive to the little details. They had steamed snow crab, prime rib, tempura, temaki sushi, salmon, fish, teri chicken, various pokes, salads, etc. I liked the addition of the ice cream bar...simple yet satisfying. I had lunch with 3 friends. There's few entrees to select from, my favorite shrimp tempura was not in the buffet. I like the taste of beef noodle soup but it wasn't hot/warm... i like the noodles which was cooked Filipino style. The rest of the food are just okay. At 11am they were still serving breakfast which is awesome for me because I usually get off to a late start with a baby in tow. I usually miss breakfast everywhere else because most places stop serving breakfast at 1030am. Today we tried the kalbi steak and eggs, cornbeef hash, but the ULTIMATE MUST-HAVE is the peanut butter stuffed French toast...WOW!!! Broke-da-mout food fabulousness. I've been to five star and even five diamond hotels that cannot compare to both the food and service here. I really dig this buffet. It caters to everyone and really welcomes locals. My son was in a T-shirt and slippers and we felt comfortable. They serve the old yummy staples (crab legs, poke, prime rib, clams, etc) AND added in a handmade sushi station. Super ono! Casual atmosphere! We had the older Asian waiter and he's been there for years. He was attentive, we got refills and coffee. Staff cleared our plates often. Upon walking in to Pagoda, I noticed there were hardly any patrons in there. Shucks! That should have been a sign to leave! I hadn't eaten there in a while and now I know why. Pagoda just isn't the same as it was years ago! The selection was minimal. There were (3) stations: 1st station: poke, chop chae (not very tasty), cold somen noodles (noodles were hard and flavor was unusual - tasted like dish soap. Vegetable salad. The rest of that station did not appeal to me. 2nd station: chow mein noodles - was sooooo dry, fried rice - had some kind of meat in eat, no flavor, 3rd station: Beef stroganoff - meat was very tough, steam fish - was ok, but I didn't go back for seconds, Furikake Salmon - was the only tasty entree, Teriyaki Chicken - was dry. Dessert Table was sparse. There was one green apple pie, pumpkin pie, small fruit bowl, a slice of chocolate cake cut in half, zen zai (tasted terrible, but it was hot) and soft serve (which was really true to its name, SOFT!) There was no Prime Rib because it was a Crab legs night, so we had to order Prime Rib for an additional $9.00. What a disappointment and a waste of $28 a head! Never again! Don't waste your money! This is my review of the weekday lunch buffet. I live and work in the area. Once a week, my business partner and I go out to lunch. We were texting each other discussing where to go when I passed by this place. My neighbor had said that the menu had gotten better and although the Yelp reviews were mixed, we decided to go. I wish we had visited this place earlier. There were lots of available tables. We had the usual salad but we loved the variety and the quality of the buffet. All the entrees were exceptional: teri chicken, pork adobo, poke and lemongrass shellfish. I did manage to save some room for dessert although I must admit that I should have paced myself better so I could eat more sweets. Parking is available next to the restaurant for $1 for the first two hours. Lunch was a hair under $18. A deal! We will be back. read more

We've been going to Pagoda for a lot occasions and always thought they were pricey but it's Hawaii.. My family and I (total of 15 ppl) went for Christmas Dinner so we thought ok $58.95 once in a while and looking at the menu, it was pretty good. The food seem the same as the original nothing special and because it was Christmas we had to wait for refills a long time. And the price w/ tax & gratuity is crazy Adults $72.82, 5-8 yo $30.88 so my 10 yo had to pay the adult price plus $40 extra for staying in the tea house. I don't remember a fee for the tea house. I ordered two of the holiday plates with added crab for thanksgivings. The plates came with prime rib, turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes and corn and both orders I asked for well done and I got them bloody rare which was annoying because put in the note that I wanted it really well done and they even had a choice to get it well done on their website... I did not want to cook when I took these home! Ugh! Waste of time.... But other than that everything else was ok. I'm glad I got the crab... I also got the to choose sliced pork for free but they were out so they ended up giving me kalua pork instead. Our family went to the buffet for our xmas dinner (7:30 pm sitting) and was terribly disappointed with the food and atmosphere of the restaurant. Reservations were made late so we were sitted upstairs and the setting was like a church hall function. Nothing nice about it. The food did not look appetizing at all. The sushi looked like it was thrown together, I had to laugh at it cuz the presentation was awful. They had a whole fish but when we got to the buffet line there was just bones and the head. The crab was dry. I told the prime rib carver I wanted a well done slice and he gives me a rare prime rib. Sashimi and poke didn't look fresh. Poor desserts, cup ice cream???? I can go to the market and buy cup ice cream (with wooden spoon), drumsticks, etc.. What happen to the soft serve ice cream???? I've been to the buffet 5+ years ago for Thanksgiving and don't remember it to be this disappointing. I am sorry but for the price of $60 it was not worth it. The food wasn't great :( we ordered onionrings garlic chkn & hamburgersteak. The onion ring was fried in old oil, the rice was dry & hard. The garnish on chkn was old. There was a bird in the restaurant & the employee said to leave it when we were trying to get it out because it eats the food on the ground! Ewe!! Never will eat here again! This is hard to give a 1 star. This was our worst meal in 3 days in Honolulu and it was what I consider way over priced for what they had on the buffet. I had two youth adults 22 and 17 with my wife and I who said it was kinda neat but food was bad. PrimeRib was cold noodles were still crunchy and also Luke warm at best. We left still quite hungry look for food too eat even deserts didn't look appetizing. They also were not a $$ as bill more like $$$+. There was nothing to eat on the buffet looking like any of the pictures except for ones of the Koi. Things looked dirty and in kept most things didn't look inviting for consumption. read more

Fantastic Thanksgiving Brunch today, great reception check in, chefs on it all the time, fresh food, the food excellent and delicious. Prime rib, sushi bar, sashimi, crab legs, hot and cold entree's, da best. Can't wait for next year. read more

Good customer service. No refills on my tea so don't waste your money on drinks. Local menu with reasonable prices. I enjoyed the peanut butter stuffed french toast with bananas. Skimpy bananas...7 slim slices. Outdated atmosphere. Nice koi and other fish. Tranquil waterfall. It was deadsville for lunch. Us and 2 other tables. They serve breakfast and lunch until 2pm. Bathroom is basic and outside the restaurant. Limited parking. I have had their buffet dinner. It was quite busy and good. I would not entertain guests here. Close to our home so convenient. We had the Sunday brunch and it wasn't half bad. The crab legs were really salty and stone cold which at 39.95 is what I was really coming to eat, and was disappointed. But the variety of other food more than made up for it. I would make sure u make a reservation as the place does get crowded and come when it opens to ensure they have a stock pile of food!
