It's been over 10 years since we have been here. We decided to come here for our anniversary. We forgot how beautiful and peaceful the interior environment was. We went on a random Tuesday night, it was a night with live music and a piano singer Morgan she was great. Our waiter Justin, he provided an amazing service and a great time. We decided to have dinner at Palisades tonight to celebrate my birthday with family visiting from out of town, and unfortunately, the experience fell short of what we expected. When we first arrived, there was only one bartender working. He greeted us after a few minutes, but his demeanor was very cold and distant -- no smile, no warmth, just napkins placed down. He took our drink order and made the drinks himself, but instead of serving them, another staff member (who we initially thought was a server) brought them over to us. I do want to point out that the bartender was working behind the bar, so he easily could have handed us our drinks directly, but instead had the server bring them to us.... even though we were seated right at the bar top. What made it more confusing was that later, the same bartender was engaging in friendly conversation and personally serving a couple seated right next to us. Later, we realized that same person went behind the bar to take care of two women who sat down nearby, greeting them warmly, chatting, and taking their drink order directly. So maybe he was a server-bartender or in training, but either way, the inconsistency in guest interaction definitely stood out. Once seated, we waited an ample amount of time before anyone came over. I eventually had to ask if we were going to be helped. A staff member mentioned there had been some miscommunication, which happens, but as someone in the service industry myself, I know how important those first impressions are. Our server was polite but seemed a bit disorganized. The kids' food order was incorrect, and one of our steaks had to be sent back twice before it was eventually removed from the bill (which we appreciated). They did forget both the kids sundae's but ghey did send out a dessert for my birthday, which was a kind gesture, and in a way made up for the kids dessert. By that point, we were honestly just ready to get out of there. We just thanked them and wrapped things up. Maybe we just caught them on an off night or sat in the wrong section, but for a fine dining restaurant, the service and overall experience didn't match the standard I expected. read more

Dinner is terrific though pricey. They recently joined the Landrys family of restaurants so both Palisades and Maggie Bluffs honor the Landrys rewards program, which offers a $25 birthday award and per dollar accrual that is linked to the Bit Coin price (you get virtual crypto, but I'm not sure what happens to the value if it goes below your original purchase reward). Check all aspects of their events and the menus to find many different options. There is also a prixfixe 3 course, I think on Sunday, and I believe prime rib is usually an option. I usually get the crab and shrimp bucatini which has hefty noodles and a great not too heavy cream sauce. I haven't tried lunch yet or the brunch, but it looks like in the past they had a brunch seafood buffet of some kind, but I don't think this is available anymore. Nighttime ambiance is cozy if a bit cramped due to orientation of the tables and the view of the docks, but it's usually quite dark when looking over the bay since it's fairly low traffic at night on weekends. The stuffed shrimp was ok. The lobster bisque was phenomenal. The waitress Lisa made excellent recommendations. The kung pao calamari was 10/10 and the sake cod was 15/10. It has been 7 years since eating st Palisade Had a party of 6 at 1:15pm on Sunday It was very empty with lots of empty tables. We ordered Bloody Mary's for 3 in our party. The drinks were not flavorful and zero relish. Just salt on the rim of a pint glass with watered down mixers. 1 person ordered a mimosa and we had to ask 3 times when the mimosa would arrive which took over 30 minutes. I had the steak and eggs which was one of two dishes available dairy-free. It was good. Others in my party did not think their food was worthy of the reputation of Palisade We were told the restaurant was sold and has a more corporate management. TLDR: I'm here for the view, food priced for the view. Cocktails were not good. Environment: Ask to be by the windows or somewhere with a good view, because thats what youre paying for. Its so beautiful. The restaurant is up to par with what you would expect for a "bougie" restaurant. Beautiful murals, a legit mini river and bridge by the entrance, and HUGE windows. Service: The service was pretty good, they let my table sit even though i was running late. My table had ordered for me. Though I did feel a bit pressured to order more by the server - but I wasnt particularly hungry that time. Food: The food was good. No one had any complaints. Our table really liked the crab dip. Most of us ordered pasta, and everyone said it was good, the pasta portion is ginormous... you could probably share this with someone depending on your appetite :) I wouldn't order the cocktails again though, all of it was kinda disappointing - maybe 2/5 stars for the drinks lol. Out waiter tried to scam us. I believe he was high. Marcus was the worst part of a what should have been a wonderful dinner. We were celebrating, arrived promptly on time for our reservation. We were practically the only ones there. Marcus took almost 30 minutes to take our order. He refused to split the check. He tried to sell us a loyalty card, saying at first it was free- then said practically free. We learned later that it was a $25 charge. He was rude, arrogant, and when we left over 2 hours later, again, waiting on Marcus, we were very angry. Food was good, but we will never go back. We came here to celebrate my grandmother's 80th birthday. We were warmly welcomed by the host and were seated as soon as our entire party arrived. Our server was kind and provided many great recommendations and service. We ordered two starters: the poke and the coconut shrimp. We didn't know that the poke was spicy so our grandmother couldn't eat it, but the rest of us enjoyed it. The shrimp was fantastic. I ordered the seasonal menu's mahi mahi. The dish itself was huge. The fish was a bit dry for my taste but I have not had mahi mahi before so am not sure if that's normal. The vegetables were tender and grilled perfectly. We got a complimentary crème brûlée with a candle and ordered the chocolate lava cake and the key lime pie. All desserts were perfect for what each person wanted after such a filling meal. My first time at Palisade and it did not disappoint! The price range is fairly on the higher side but the quality of the food matched the price. Would recommend their fried calamari; it's got asian spice note to it and the calamari was super juicy and tender. I got the lamp chop - medium cooked and it was perfect. Juicy and mild gamey note (very pleasant and not overly gamey) which paired so well with Merlot wine. The view outside was very nice as well. You can see the boats/yachts right outside and you can even see the mountains. Giving that this is a higher end place, I think it would've made the restaurant more elevated if the choice of music was more smooth jazz rather than top 25 hit songs. But that's just my opinion! Service was also good as the waiter was attentive and checked frequently to filled up our waters and clean the table in a timely manner. read more

My dad, mom, aunt, grandma, and I came to Palisade for lunch today, Sunday 5 March 2023, to celebrate the birthdays of my aunt and grandma. My parents called in advance and found out we could bring our own cake, which the restaurant offered to store and then serve when we were ready. We arrived and found parking near the entrance, which was great for grandma. The hostess who seated us, and the wait staff, were all friendly in their interactions and our waitress considerate. I went with the lychee lime soda for my drink and the prime rib hash. The lychee lime soda was better when mixed and an excellent sweet drink for sipping. The prime rib hash was not the largest serving of the dishes ordered by the people at the table, and I had no problem eating the whole thing. The meat/eggs were cooked well and potatoes and vegetables flavorful. Salt and pepper were provided on the table if one wanted extra seasoning. After our meal, my aunt asked if we could get some ice cream with the cake we brought, which the kitchen whipped up special. It was a hearty serving size and was spoon-licking good. Prior to today, I came to Palisade for various family occasions growing up and enjoyed my experiences then as well. read more

The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and pretty. I love that it is by the water and on a good day you have a great view. Unfortunately we went on New years and it was so foggy we couldn't see anything. I had higher expectations for the food. I ordered the 3 course dinner, for $75. It started with soup or salad, a main then dessert. I choose king salmon which was highly recommended. Unfortunately the salmon felt undercooked and very bland. The mashed potatoes were extremely thick with no flavor. The veggies were literally 2 carrots and 2 broccolini which were also unseasoned. The serving sizes were very small. My friends got the filet and were extremely disappointed with the lack of flavor. The appetizers on the other hand were good. We got the calamari and the crab dip. The lobster bisque was also good. We've been to Palisade three or four times, always for dinner, usually for a special occasion. As many other reviewers have noted, you can't beat the ambience. It's a fun space, and the windows overlooking the marina and the bay offer stunning views. We've eaten here during daylight, sunset, and after dark, and each offers its charms - but I'd say shoot for sunset if you're looking for something special. We've also always had excellent, personable service. This visit was no exception. Lana was friendly, helpful, and attentive, despite obviously being kept busy. Drinks have been a consistent high point every time we've visited. The Rare and Fancy is a very good Old Fashion, and the whiskey sour I ordered (not on the drink menu, just a request) was perfectly balanced, with bonus points for obvious use of egg whites. My wife prefers mocktails, and reports the mocktail menu is always fun. Food is generally good, especially the mains. The steak is consistently excellent (although I'd recommend a steak over the prime rib, which is good but not exemplary). My wife reports the fish is always cooked perfectly. The chefs' ability to properly prepare salmon is one of the reasons we'll go out of our way to dine here. She likes the variety of fish and seafood on offer, and the use of seasonal preparations. Appetizers, sides, and deserts are more hit and miss; the crab dip (which recently replaced the earlier crab and lobster dip) is a decadent treat, but we've had other apps that were less exciting or seemed poorly conceived; similarly, the sides that come with most mains are veggies and mashed potatoes - and both have been wildly inconsistent, with veggies sometimes overcooked, while the mashed potatoes are sometimes delicious, but sometimes pasty or overly sweet. The deserts have ranged from mediocre to yummy, but it's clearly not the restaurant's focus; they feel like an afterthought. (Although we very much appreciated the creme brulee that was brought out to celebrate our anniversary!) If you're trying to decide whether to visit, we'd say that you should consider delicious drinks, beautiful ambiance, excellent service, and consistent mains as being top tier; you should balance that against the steep price tag and inconsistent apps / sides / deserts. Overall, we think it's worth the visit! read more

I have been to Palisade many times in my life and all I can say is "what happened?" This was a restaurant my wife and I liked to stop at one to two times a year. Once always during SRW, and another outside of that. I will say the ambiance is what makes the place great every time, but there was no supporting cast. The waterfront view was all there was to offer here this time. Our server was non existent, food runners would do simply that only drop food and go. Not asking if anything was needed. When there was no pepper on the table, someone got up to get it and immediately a dining room assistant asked if he could crack the pepper for the table. Again our server was no where. The wine was good and as well as the Spicy Prickly Pear margarita. No second drink offering, nothing. The food was lack luster the whole way through, with the exception of the Poke and Lobster Bisque. The Kung Pao Calamari tasted like something you'd buy at Trader Joe's and soak in orange sauce. It only went down from there. The Seafood Bucatini was bland and confusing. The noodles and the pasta sauce were piping hot and the shrimp were laying atop mildly cold. I'm not a prime rib person, but the two people that ordered it said it was ok. Wasn't seasoned or cooked enough. The chocolate molten cake deflated like a flat tire. The crème brûlée was regular. At this point the We interacted with the server when she took our order and when it was time to pay. Palisade was always a dinner to look forward to, but unfortunately after this the tradition will come to an end. read more
