Their hot chocolate is absolutely amazing because they use Ghiradelli chocolate. Now for the food: Joe's Special: It's pretty much a breakfast scramble, with eggs, ground beef, spinach, mushrooms and onions. Ingredients were very fresh but this breakfast entree didn't blow me away taste-wise. The garlic toast was surprisingly good!(3.5/5 stars) Eggs on Toast: On toast? The eggs were pretty much inside the toast. The egg was delicious but the toast was a bit dry. Sausage links were overcooked a little too much for my personal liking. (3/5 stars). Lovely small place with warm and welcoming interior. Great food, freshly made and cooked to order. It is a perfect breakfast location. Not only because of the great service which is kind and fast, but also for the physical location in a short walking distance to the piers and Fisherman's Wharf. This place was near our hotel by Fisherman's Wharf. We woke up and walked on over after I found it on Yelp. I loved the eggs Benedict with their very own Hollandaise sauce. Simply delicious. I think I found a new winner for a brunch spot! I just happened to be driving by and saw a non-metered parking spot available. I parked and looked on Yelp and Google for a brunch place because I couldn't pass up the great parking. Pat's has a great vibe and a lady sitting at a table greets everyone as they enter. She happens to be Pat, the owner, which I found out later during my very pleasant visit. She treated her employees really well and with much respect, making sure they took breaks and such. And the workers all got along well on top of providing attentive and friendly service. This all made me happy to give them my money. I had the California Omelette without cheese and it was hot when it got to me, filled with diced onions, chicken apple sausage, mushrooms, and avocados. I opted for a side of fruit for an upgrade vs the bread and potatoes. I ate alone which was apparently not abnormal for the restaurant as there were many one tops at around 10am on a Tuesday. My husband joined me after I finished my meal and since I had a great experience, he stayed and ordered the Mexican Omelette with a side salad. I didn't think to ask for that side instead. The plate of food looked gorgeous, nice and fresh. We both loved our omelettes which were both prepared well; fresh, fluffy and tasty. It wasn't very busy - but somehow after asking twice, water was too much of a hassle to bring over. My grapefruit juice was not fresh. 2. The food took a while to come. 3. I had the breakfast burrito and asked for no sour cream, and avocados instead. In return I got two sliced avocados on the side slathered in sour cream. 4. I can only speak to brunch here, but what I can say is complimentary. The eggs Benedict were excellent...the eggs were well cooked, hot and runny, and the hollandaise had a very good flavor. The accompanying potatoes were good and well cooked. I had the biscuits and gravy as a side; they were fine but not great. My dining companion had banana granola pancakes and said they were "something special", which is saying something because she orders pancakes frequently. Yum! Got the California Crepes and the Blueberry Pancakes for breakfast this morning. The crepe was deeeeelicious and the homefries were just perfect. The actual pancakes were very good and fluffy, but my mom was expecting the blueberries to actually be cooked in the pancakes but they were just tossed on top. Only downside was that the "real maple syrup" was an extra $1.75. Coming from the east coast, that should just be the real syrup offered! I loved the big Pat's Cafe cup of tea that I received. Much nicer than the tiny cups you sometimes get at other places. The window seat was lovely and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Very down-to-earth place to eat. Walkable distance from The Marriott Hotel (less than 10 min walk)! it was easy to spot, and the bellman from the hotel recommended this place. I only got a picture of my meal which was the Pecan Pumpkin Spice Pancakes and they were delicious!! No need for syrup unless you have a big sweet tooth (AKA me) but I initially had tried it without syrup and was satisfied as well. I can't speak for their weekend brunch but their week day breakfast was awful. Nothing I couldn't have made at home. Halfway in, IHOP was looking real good. I'd argue for the service here, but honestly, IHOP has the same service. Or, I would go somewhere a lot better and pay what, $2 more for my food? The person in charge, however, was this elderly lady who was dismissive and chatting super loudly with her friends. We were the only table there. It's totally fine to have your own business and mingle with your cronies, that's what owning your own place is all about, but she just gave off a really weird vibe, almost like we were intruding. Went here for breakfast based on the amazing reviews and photos, but didn't even stay to eat because of the awful smell. We all smelled it as soon as we entered but the (very nice!) hostess seated us immediately. Holy wait time Batman. I will say, it was during fleet week and Columbus day eve but come on man. I even called ahead and they told me "we never have a long wait." To a degree that was true. He later asked if he could do anything to make up for it. When we asked for a round of drinks on the house, as we had plowed through 3, waiting for some eggs, he simply laughed it off. FYI the bloody Mary's suck so don't let the $5 tag tempt you. Tasted like cocktail sauce instead of tomato. The mimosas were ok. Pat came around later and she seems super nice. Maybe it was an off day, but it was enough to probably make me want to try another place for breaky n North Beach as a non local. The food was 4* though. Must admit it was damn tasty. Breakfast for 4 runs about 100. We did not tip very well though with the service we got. Other customers were also pissed off. The people next to us took an "upper decker" in their toilet because they waited so long. I'm not in third grade anymore, but I thought it was hilarious.
